Great ressource for working with clients!
I like the overall setup of the book: short texts for explanation followed by corresponding worksheets. I also appreciate the range of topics (e.g.: exploring your relationship with alcohol, sober socializing, self-care etc.) covered in this book.

I received this book for free as a part of the Instagram launch group. I have followed Amanda on this platform for a while and have enjoyed her content. I did not read her other book prior to the workbook.

As a certified drug counselor for several years, I’ve used many books and resources with clients. This is one of the best workbooks I’ve seen. The tone is nonjudgmental, empathetic, and insightful, while also holding whoever uses it accountable. I really love the Client Worksheets and only wish there were downloadable versions to print out for clients. Given the structure of the pages, it will be easier to make copies compared to other workbooks. Even as someone in the field and back in school for clinical mental health counseling, I learned a lot from this book. It is really meant for anyone, and a lot of the content is applicable to other SUDs. I appreciate that the content is presented creatively and different from other workbooks I’ve seen. I also liked references to new research concepts and books. I plan to use this with clients individually or in group settings, as well as for myself.

Amanda White’s work is an insightful way to explore one’s relationship with alcohol (or any substance really). Her book, “Not Drinking Tonight” does a great job of explaining concepts in a clear and non-judgmental manner, allowing one to engage with the questions and ideas being posed. Her new “The Workbook” for clinician’s breaks down the concepts in easy-to-understand exploratory ways, that invite curiosity from the reader. She combines education, CBT, MI, and other techniques to make this workbook very accessible. I really enjoy her prompts and worksheets, both for myself as well as for use with clients.

This workbook is a crucial tool for clinicians to work with clients and their relationship with alcohol. The topics were so spot on, I thought Amanda must have been sitting in my office to know exactly what concepts were coming up time and time again for my clients. The worksheets are user-friendly, insightful, personal and strategic. This is not a book that will collect dust, you will be able to use it in individual and group sessions.
