The Other World #2

The Other Key

Rate this book
The enchanted golden key recognizes her destined mate, but her heart says it has the wrong male .

A year has passed since Zoe Lawson used her enchanted key to cross into the fae world of Ecromos to receive a cure for her cancer, knowing she would never be able to return home. After receiving that cure, rumors claimed she would spend the rest of her life with a fated mate, bringing new life to a dying species. The reality, however, was quite different.

Zoe had no idea that, when she left the human world, she would be captured by a fae nobleman who traded human women for breeding and sexual slavery. In such a world with too few females, she wasn't the only human woman who'd been stolen for such purposes, and she knew she wouldn't be the last. That is, until she met Elianna.

As a cancer patient herself, Zoe's new friend's magical cure swung the pendulum in her favor, making freedom a possibility none of the enslaved women could have imagined.

When Zoe and her friend escape the lord who'd enslaved them, they seek freedom in another court, protected by Elianna's newly found mate and a family of fae males. Zoe's key tells her that her mate is searching for her. However, with Cailean by her side, she is not sure if the enchanted key has the right male.

As Zoe plans to return and free the other human women, danger lurks from those searching for them, and her heart battles against her key.

Will Zoe and her friends be able to find enough allies to help them free their friends from a court where they are being hunted? In the meantime, will Zoe listen to her key, the only thing that can lead her to her destined mate, or will she abandon it entirely out of love for another?

oh what can I say...maybe I didn't get the full version since I have the omnibus...maybe that is the full story..for once I didn't feel like the plot plotted....I think it's implied in the end that they are fated mates with the new keys with the small line that she wants him because but it's never actually said if they bring their keys together...it just felt rushed...and I totally agree with other reviews...why are their two points of view when it's in third person and good back and forth...sometimes it matters when the characters aren't together but when they are...it doesn't matter who's point of view it is. I'm curious to see what the last book is but it's from a weird point of view so I guess we will see in the end.
in terms of vibes. loves the book finished it fast.

2.5 stars. It was okay. There was a recap of the last book in the beginning, and the book is clearly intended to be read right after the first one, so a lot of the love story is kinda skipped over because you’re picking up exactly where the last book left off. There’s no meet cute, no character backstory, and no “getting to know you,” just a bit of spice and a sliver of plot. The hook of the book, I had assumed was that the FMC had one mate who was looking for her while she was already in love with the MMC, but that turned out to be a bit of a switcharoo and we don’t even really get to know that mistaken mate, so we hardly even get a chance to feel sorry for him that the FMC isn’t actually his mate. :/ I thought the angst would’ve made things more interesting. We also don’t really know the villains of this book, who remain unnamed. Overall the work felt unfinished.

I enjoyed this more than book 1, but I wish we met Zoe’s mate from the key.

Is that all?

Ok, so this story is very short. Thankfully, it did start up where the first book ended before the epilog. I am disappointed that she did not take the time to build Zoe's background or to make the story a little better. It did give a different perspective and variation from the first story, though, so that was good.

It was nice to see Zoe’s story finished off but also feel like not a lot happened in this book and it could’ve just been added on/integrated into the last book

If you have read book one of The Other World series, you will see that book two picks up right where that left off. If you recall Zoe had escaped with her friend Elianna.

This book was a great telling of a second chance to find your mate. When Zoe had escaped, she was able to do so with her key, although once she had found who she thought was her mate Cailean, his key did not match hers. But none the less they felt a connection that neither of them could explain.

Zoe meets the man that is holding the key that matches hers, but there is no connection between them at all. She feels as though she was given the wrong key and the only explanation is that she is to use it and her freedom to help thos women who are still trap.

Will Zoe and her friends be able to find enough allies to help them free their friends from a court where they are being hunted? In the meantime, will Zoe listen to her key, the only thing that can lead her to her destined mate, or will she abandon it entirely out of love for another?

3.5 ⭐

Picking up where Book 1 left off. Zoe is basking in her newfound freedom after escaping with her friend Elianna after her mate found her. Zoe was able to escape with her Key.

Zoe's key doesn't match her rescuer's Cailean's key but they both feel a connection and passion between them that could not be explained with no other explanation than Zoe being given the wrong key when she escaped.

When the man holding the key that matches the one Zoe holds they both feel nothing. No spark, No attraction and No connection. Zoe knows without a doubt she has the wrong key and has a purpose. Help free the women who remain captivity and find her key.

Zoe is surrounded by danger and when she is captured once again; it will take a miracle for her to be found without being in possession of her key.

3.5** The first book I liked the suspense building up at the end like will the rest of their friends / girls be saved ?
The second book continued right where it left off but mainly focuses on Zoe and Callihan’s (not sure if I spelled the male names right 😅) story.
I would’ve liked to see more action, but other than that it was a nice fast read for me.

Now I can’t wait for the next book I really must know what happens to the rest of the girls and their mates !! Like do they all find their mates ?! Would they accept their mates after what they went through?!!! What about Rebecca’s mate does he even come in the book , with the keys flashing now I wonder if he had given up on her if not how would he feel about finding out he had his mate but she was murdered

This is the second book in the other world series. This book picks up on Cailean. Telling you Zoe and Cailean story. You should check your triggers for these. This series starts with human women that are dying from illnesses and they have an opportunity to be healed in the fea world that promises them a fated mate. It's a great read dont want to give to much away :)

This series is unique. Young women with incurable illnesses are given a key to another realm where they are supposedly cured and get to live again and find their mate. But not everything is as it seems.
Pith is my new favorite character. I need more of him!

Zoe and Caileans beautiful and oh so spicy!! I love that Zoe stands up for herself and follows her heart rather than the key to only find out she had the wrong key and had the correct mate all along!

I can't cope with this series, In a good way, Elianna and Zoe have been through so much and found their mates. For more heartache, trauma to happen.

Again I'm sobbing at parts of this book and cheering at others.

Pith is an awesome wee brownie who shows real courage. As do Zoe and Elianna. Their mates are so perfect for them. Blaze and Caliean.

Now to read the other fate and find out what happens with the king??

This felt like a fluff peice. Originally, I was interested to see who Zoe would pick, but I do not feel like this needed a whole novella. It honestly could have been condensed into a few chapters in the first book. So far, I am pretty disappointed with this series.
