Plot:
Tempest abandoned the land of the gods long ago, unwilling to continue to mediate their problems and tolerate their lies. She may be the judge for the souls of the living, but she can’t take on the weight of the responsibility anymore.
When Tempest finds an emperor broken and dying, Fate ties them together, and she can’t escape. Disguised as a mortal, she must compete to become the next empress while protecting a man she refuses to let into her heart. But to do that means revealing herself to the very gods she’s been hiding from, and they will not let her escape again. The goddess of the broken may be broken herself, but what could she be if she wasn’t?

My opinion:
This book was such a surprise! I got it not long ago “on stuff your kindle day” and I decided I wanted to read it now. The characters were amazing, especially Tempest. I love how strong and powerful and how she handles every situation like the goddess that she is. Also, her friendship with Sylvia is so beautiful. Aiden stole my heart since the very beginning! In general, I really liked all the characters, they all fit perfectly in the story and their dynamic was really good.
The worldbuilding was amazing, the author writes incredibly good. I was addicted to it thank’s to the author’s writing style. The plot twists at the end of the book???? amazing, I can’t wait for the second book to come out😭.
At the end of the book, there is a “behind the scenes” note that I loved because the author basically says how this story helped her go through a really hard time in her life and it made the book instantly much more special. Thank you for your kind words about mental health issues♥️.
I thought this book had more recognition but it doesn’t so I recommend it to everyone! Although it’s really short and I wish it would’ve been longer, it is really worth the read.

Some of my favorite quotes:

Revenge does not heal the soul. Only forgiveness can truly give eternal peace.

They have no idea how powerful I really am, but from what they do know, they have every reason to fear me.

I know you’re scared, but I want you to know that I love you. I’ll always love you.

-You were quite the beautiful, bloody force to be reckoned with at the claiming ceremony, weren’t you?
-Beautiful? - she mumbled.
-In an epic and awe-inspiring sort of way.

I had the misfortune of starting this story at midnight and couldn’t pry myself away from the pages until its conclusion at 4 am. This book sucks you in with just enough intrigue, mystery, and love to leave you hooked and wanting more.

This is the best yet of Jamie’s books and I can’t wait for what she has planned for next.

Ok, I thought I loved the first book I read from Jamie, but holy cow this was absolutely amazing!

The story is different than I thought it would be, but i loved it. Tempest and Aidens relationship.. oof.. again it’s more leading up to spicy scenes but nothing raunchy like your typical smutty book. That didn’t take away from the story though. For once I didn’t mind if there wasn’t a lot because the plot stood on its own.

I was very happy to be able to ARC read this and I absolutely recommend this book for anyone that loves fantasy romances.

I don’t even know where to start. I love that the author used this as healing for her and that made me appreciate the story even more after reading it. The goddess being an empath was different from what I’ve read because usually gods or goddesses are all about power and using their power over others. Temptress was not.

OMG I loved this book I definitely couldn't put it down when I started to read it. I definitely can't wait to read the next book. Definitely love the fact they have the underdog who is underestimated and when they see her full power they are shocked. Never judge a book by its cover read and explore the pages! Love it

I absolutely love and adore this book! I buddy read this a few days ago. This book still has been on my thoughts. Honestly I was hooked right from the beginning and wasn’t able to put the book down!

I love tempest!! She is a totally baddie and I love her! I loved seeing her go through the trials. I love the relationship that Tempest and Aiden had. Seeing them discover their past and seeing them fall for one.

Seeing and hearing about the other Gods and Goddesses and the people they chosen was so cool and interesting. Love how different Tempest is compared to them as well.

I had started this book in the morning. The first couple of pages were catching my attention. But I am so glad that I continued reading this book. Once it caught my attention I could not put it down. I can't wait for the next book to come out. The author did a awesome job with this book especially with how she describes the characters. I highly recommend this book if you love fantasy books!!!

AMAZING!!!

To start off, I would like to acknowledge that this review is being left in return for an advanced reader copy of this novel. And, to say the least, it was a very fair trade. Goddess of the Broken was quite honestly a breath of fresh air. With a powerful female lead and pinning king for her, it was the perfect combination for an epic fantasy. However, the book was a little hard to follow in the beginning, especially as all these characters and social structures were established. Now, I've never read anything from this author before, so I can't be sure if it was connected to any of her other novels. Still, the books ending was extremely confusing when considering Aiden-and the mortal trial concept. Overall, this was an amazing read, and had very few grammar errors.

"Forever means nothing if progression isn't possible."

"Tempest knew mortals did three things better than the gods. They loved more fiercely, were quicker to make decisions, and their food was both adventurous and delicious."

"'You think its acceptable to call your emperor a fool?''
''if that's how you choose to behave ,then yes, I do.'"

"Fate had led Tempest to the emperor, and Tempest knew better than to let it down. Rarely did that go well for anyone, mortal or god.'

"You know, you're sort of terrifying."
"I know."

"A lady can never reveal her secrets."
"A lady?"
"Am I not?"

What a lovely read! Enjoyed it immensely. Tempest is s Goddess, hiding from the other gods in the human world until a soul calls to her, a human man and the emperor no less. But as with all of Jamie's books, there are so many twist, turns and surprises that make every book unputdownable!

I simply adore the premise of a Goddess who wants nothing to do with her fellow gods and realm and runs away to the human realm where she hides for 500 years. We don't get to see those 500 years, what we do get is a very intricately woven tale of greed, power and a whole lot of mystery. Which, let me tell you, is superbly unwoven, strand by strand, hitting a few snags along the way until the strands pull free once more. Each snag had me knotted me up and each release pulled me along.

Aiden is not just the emperor Tempest feels drawn too, he's.... more. I loved how his strands unravelled! I loved how the realisation came about, the complete confusion Tempest experiences with the way she feels, until the Eureka moment, when everything falls in place. Tempest is so challenged, not only personally but when the gods cotton on to where she is, all gloves come off! Who can resist a power hungry god or two trying to be bigger, better and take over, well, everywhere!

A fast paced beautiful environment and world, filled with dangers and secrets, battles and love. Can't wait for the next book!

𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: ⁣⁣
Tempest, the goddess of the broken, has left the land of the gods and has lived among humans for years. Every 15 years she packs up and leaves to a new land so she is not discovered as a god. Her simple, content life is about to change though when she meets Aiden, a human who is she feels the tethered pull to be near. In a fast pace plot, we see Tempest fight for what is right and enter the world of the gods again to protect all that matters to her. ⁣⁣

I loved Tempest. She was considered an underdog to the other gods and never considered a strong or powerful god to the humans. But thought she was a compassionate empath that had the ability to sooth souls around her, she was also fiercely loyal to those who were good and she protected those who needed it the most. ⁣⁣

Now, I need to find a recipe for the dandelion cookies that were mentioned in this book 😋🍪

When gods walked the lands and mortals believed in them

Man and god working hand-in-hand to maintain the balance of power. All too often, the problems start because of some deity’s pettiness or greed. Or did ancient man merely invent pantheons of gods to cover up his own faults? Some of them sure seem to act like power-hungry humans. Just a thought…

There are some positive aspects in this book, friendship and loyalty being two of them. Here’s a quote about duty:
‘I never *want* to do this, but I understand that I have to sometimes.’

The ending (don’t worry, no spoilers!) sets up a continuation and I’m looking forward to reading it.

DYING!!!

Oh my gods… this is my favorite mythological world I’ve ever read! I love that the gods require mortal trials to make them strong!
So, Tempest is a badass! She stumbles upon this guy who is quite literally attached to her soul, who needs her. The Emperor. To be near him, she enters a tournament of sorts they’ve created to find him a wife. There is so much going on behind the scenes that she may be required to rely on the power she despises to save her.
The entire world is fascinating! If you are interested in stories that are reminiscent of Greek, Roman, Norse mythology (but not these mythologies of course) READ THIS!
I need book 2 ASAP! SO GOOD!!!

Wow! I was hooked immediately with this book. The storyline is world building was amazing!

This is a story about a Goddess, Tempest, and her life after she left the Gods to be with the mortals. For 500 years she has lived among the mortals to only be thrust back with the Gods when she comes across Aiden.

This is book 1 and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I highly recommend reading this book if you like fantasy reads.

Story is a solid 4.25⭐️
Spice is 1/2⭐️ (meaning there is some kissing and moments that elude to some spice)

She left her world long ago after not being appreciated. Somehow centuries later her world seemed to seep back in ever so slowly at first she didn’t realize. When she can across Aiden she thought just a mortal that needed desperate help but over the course of the book she finds it’s her favorite god.

They track down the gods that are causing all kinds of problems and find hidden agendas of people they once long ago trusted.

First book by this author and I will definitely be reading more.

Clean and unique

I liked this book right away and enjoyed Tempest’s character immensely. I don’t usually get into books about the Gods anymore, but I loved this cover. Have you taken a moment to appreciate how gorgeous it is? Seriously.

Okay, enough of that. This book is super unique, and I enjoyed every moment of it. If you enjoy clean romance, Gods and goddesses and fantasy court you'll love this book.
The recipe at the end and cover that Jamie herself made was wonderful!

Swoon

Every time I see a book by Jamie Dalton, I know it’s going to be a good one. This one did not disappoint. I love the world building in this and the mythology. I had no issue. One ring with Tempest and was on the edge of my seat turning pages to see what happened next.

This book is delectably good. I wish this was more to it. I believe there will be a book two with how the author left it. I have now read enough of the author to add them to my favorites list. Highly recommend if you like adventure, self discovery, and action!

Totally was hooked on this story by Jamie Dalton. It centers around our female main character Tempest. She finds a man left for dead and as the story evolves we find out that she is far more than she seems. Great read.

This only gets docked a star because of some small mistakes I found while reading. As a whole I adore the mythology of the world Jamie has created. I fell in love with the characters quickly after being introduced to each of them (If I do not get more vesper involvement in the future, I will cry). I am anxiously waiting for this series being continued. I’m gonna go pick dandelions now and spend the day in the kitchen baking.
