Extremely Repetitive & Not Well Written

The plot line of the book is decent. However, Ms. Haywood has the annoying habit of TELLING the reader the same thing multiple times, nearly verbatim and definitely ad nauseum. I quit reading after 64 pages. I should have stopped reading at the very beginning with the first time that the author over explained.

A truly good writer illustrates with words. He or she trusts that readers are intelligent and that they are able to understand the first time what the author wishes to convey.

Ms. Haywood also reuses the same phrases and words repeatedly. The characters have limited emotions. They are always angry, guilty, ashamed, about to cry, or avoidant. I cannot imagine why this author is one of Amazon's top sellers. The writing ability displayed in Ms. Haywood's novel is at the high school level.

I know that this is a harsh review; but I simply cannot recommend this or any other of Ms. Haywood's novels.

very sweet gentle heroine

I loved this Christmas story! It had everything. A cute little girl, just enough angst…. Evelyn was so sweet, faithful, and persistent to all she loves including eventually the good doctor. Her mother was a likable character too. Really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading it again.

PS: this isn’t meant as a criticism but I did notice there were inconsistencies in the spelling of her last name. Sometimes it was “Elmwood” and sometimes “Elwood.” Not a big deal but I thought I’d mention.

His Christmas Bride Under One Condition

A young woman who only had her sick mother and herself to look after had to quit her job as a seamstress to look after her mother who had consumption and their money was getting low. Seeing an add in a newspaper that a neighbour had given her with some chestnuts wrapped in it, she answers the ad hoping that a new destination will help her mother get better. An Entertaining Book

This is a well written book for the most part. It is interesting with a little romance. The interactions between the doctor and Caroline are not really believable. He definitely forgave her too much.

Great Story

I really enjoyed reading this story of Evelyn and Isaac. I really enjoyed seeing how she was able to get Isaac to see past his grief and see the true meaning of Christmas, plus he was able to regain his faith in God because of her.

Except for the poor proofreading I found the story line to be excellent in this lovely Christian/ Christmas story. A real rags to riches sweet tale - in sickness and in health. I would recommend this book to all who would like a real uplifting read.

Wonderful

Sometimes you have to yell at a man to get him to see the light and it worked! Evelyn has a strong personality and I enjoyed her. Characters are fantastic! Very entertaining story!

This story was one which struggled to make it until the whole idea was conveyed. I never like to start a story and not finish it and I did finish
