"Inner Workout offers ease and accessibility when it comes to transforming our thoughts around how we take care of ourselves. Required reading!" —Alexandra Elle, author of After the Rain and How We Heal

Caring for yourself is essential. But we need both direction and intention if we want to find out what we truly need in the moment. This is where Inner Workout comes in: First by redefining what self-care truly is and then by diving deep into areas where you might need some help. Addressing issues like body positivity, burnout, brain fog, self-confidence, and more, this guide offers a variety of practices, prompts, and actionable advice to strengthen your connection to each aspect of yourself.

Think of this as a choose your own self-care adventure: Take the Take Care Assessment and find out which practices you deeply need right now. Flip to a section that resonates with you. Or read through each chapter to discover what each dimension of care can offer you. The guidance within these pages isn't meant to change who you are, but to strengthen the wisdom you already have within. Whether new to self-care or wanting to deepen the connection you've cultivated with yourself, this book is here for you at every step in your wellness journey.

ACTIONABLE SELF-CARE FOR EVERYONE: Self-care, in all its forms, remains a powerful and popular topic. Inner Workout offers lots of prompts, inspiration, and ideas to keep your self-care practice fresh and applicable at every stage of life.

THE ANSWER TO BURNOUT, BRAIN FOG, AND MORE: Each section of Inner Workout tackles a key area of self-care and helps to alleviate common wellness concerns:
Physical (Feel at Home in Your Body)
Energetic (Work with Your Energetic Cycles)
Mental and Emotional (Cut Through Your Brain Fog)
Wisdom (Tap into the Wisdom within You)
Bliss (Experience Care Through Connection)
FROM A SELF-CARE EXPERT: Taylor Elyse Morrison, founder of the Inner Workout self-care brand, roots her work in the idea that the key to true, sustainable self-care is to build up an intuitive connection to your self. From her years of leading seminars, trainings, and guided meditations, she has cultivated ways to tap into what you already know about yourself in an accessible way—and that is captured fully in this practical guide.

This book, Inner Workout by Taylor Elyse Morrison, is my 15th book I’ve read this year (2023).

My first point I want to make about this book is that it is quite honestly the most in-depth book on self-care (and I have read quite a few of them) that I have ever come across. This book is unlike any self-care book I’ve ever read. There was so much insight and so many points made throughout this book that I learned quite a lot of new information.

Part of the journey through this book is a self-care assessment that the readers are supposed to take in order to guide the reader in which areas they need to focus on and read about. I took the assessment (which is online) and was surprised by how in-depth the results were. My results were all very high, so I read through all of the dimensions as they are provided in the book.

The organization throughout the book makes it short and easy to comprehend. Also, there are many exercises for the reader to practice the various self-care dimensions.

Another part of the book that I have not seen in other self-care books is that for each sub dimension, there are songs that are listed that in some way relate to what is provided in the chapters. I created a playlist with all of these songs and I love listening to it.

This book is definitely a 5 out of 5 star book for me. While it was short and compact, it really packed a punch and I learned an incredible amount of information. The questions made me really think about my self-care routines and practices.

I am so grateful to NetGalley, Taylor Elyse Morrison (the author) and Chronicle Books (the publisher) for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I like how Taylor Elyse Morrison discusses stress and identity — as a factor as she starts to explore the myth that self care is one size fits all.

She’s real in her writing, talking about getting all fired up which made me smile because I’m fiery too but it’s not often discussed in the same circles as self care practices. BUt… her point and I happen to agree is that there’s no criteria that you have to live by — you make and take whatever time you can for self care and that does not have to be very long at all. You do what you can with the time you have. No comparisons, no guilt or shame. Decide what your intentions are and go with it.

She continues to bust myths throughout and I think this book really gives permission to newbies or anyone else that has thrown their hands up thinking they have no time, nor are they the type for self care. Inner Workout guides you to do you, while providing some great tips and inspiration to create or strengthen a self care practice.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book!

"Inner Workout" by Taylor Elyse Morrison is a short yet impactful book that I highly recommend to anyone interested in personal growth and self-discovery. The author presents a unique approach to self-improvement, which involves working on different aspects of ourselves such as our mind, body, spirit, and relationships. I appreciated how the book was organized into easy-to-digest sections, and how each chapter provided practical exercises and insightful nuggets of wisdom that I found myself jotting down to remember. One of the book's highlights was the self-assessment tool, which helped me identify areas of my life that need more attention and work. Lastly, I must mention the beautiful design and graphics that made reading this book even more enjoyable. Overall, "Inner Workout" is a great resource for anyone looking to deepen their self-awareness and improve their well-being. I gave it four stars!

As someone who works in a mental health field, I talk a lot about self care with my clients, but there are so few helpful resources on it. Much of what I see is based on what I like to call “fluffy self care” or Instagram, self care. It’s all about selling products, rather than doing the deeper work of calming your nervous system, connecting with others, and getting in touch with your body and needs. I really appreciated Taylor’s framework for self care, and how it’s presented in an extremely accessible way. I also appreciated that it was written in a very inclusive way, and doesn’t prescribe a one-size-fits-all approach to self care. It encourages readers to adapt the info to their needs. It’s a book you can quickly read, then go back and spend more time on integrating each section, or really take your time with slowly digesting. It’s a very aesthetically pleasing book too!

There are no two people who are alike. So, why should peoples own self care be the same as someone else's? It shouldn't. Self care is not black and white. There is no right, there is no wrong. Inner workout made me realize I was trying to check boxes off of someone else's list. I don't know whose but it sure wasn't my checklist.

Inner Workout stresses the self in self care. Find what works for you, find what heals and nurtures your mind body and soul. What one person may need is not what you may need and that is ok. I love that Taylor Elyse Morrison puts the self back into self care. Forget what social media is telling you. Forget what that influencer or that other influencer tried to influence. Listen to your self. You're body tells you what it needs. You just need to listen.

This book is such a refreshing take on self care.

Taylor writes with such a welcoming tone that honors where you are at, in that season, and accepts the duality of being multidimensional.

In a self care world that pushes on narrative over another, Taylor invites the reader to be curious and then to explore actions or thoughts that can help bring compassion and care towards oneself.

Instead of scrolling media right before bed or first thing when I woke up, I grabbed this book. Even just for 5-10 pages. It was the recalibration I needed in my life. Thank you Taylor!

Self-care is not a new concept and nothing she said was ground breaking, but honestly speaking, she put the importance of self-care and how I have understood it through the wrong lens, in a way that was so refreshing. I took her assessment and found I was surprised by the results, but it's giving me a starting point on where I've been neglecting myself in ways I never thought about. The approach of self-care being multidimensional finally gives me a frame work to better understand myself and what I actually need at any given moment.

"Inner Workout" by Taylor Elyse Morrison is a refreshing and insightful guide that empowers readers to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being. For me, the strength of this novel lies in Morrison's holistic and practical approach to self-care; she presents a diverse array of exercises, ranging from journal prompts and breathing techniques to movement practices and creative outlets. The wide variety of techniques offers readers the opportunity to explore and find what methods resonates best. Additionally, the accessible nature of each exercise made them feel practical and able to be easily incorporated into anyone's daily routines.

But, Morrison doesn't just provide tools for self-care; she also illustrates how they can positively impact relationships, work, and overall well-being. This holistic and comprehensive perspective is, in my opinion, what sets the book apart from other "self-help" guides. Overall, this book an excellent guide for those looking to enhance their well-being and embark on a journey self-care.

This book is so pretty!!! With plain language, calming paintings, and a solid overall organization, this is the book equivalent of a stationary store. It won't blow your mind, but it might just make it possible for you to engage in meaningful self care.

While I believe this book has some good takeaways, I just could not get past the Reiki and metaphysical background of this book. Definitely a more valuable resource to those more open to that line of thinking.

A great primer for some very important topics. Would be great for anyone that is just starting their inner-workout journey. If you’re a couple years or more into your journey, there’s a lot of good reminders, but not a deep dive.

I love this approach to self care and the challenge to several myths that keep it centered in capitalism. Also good tools to help people with very different needs build a one of a kind practice for caring for the whole self

A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I felt like this book was SPEAKING TO ME. Inner Workout covers five dimensions of well-being, including physical, energetic, mental & emotional, wisdom, and bliss. This was my first introduction to the author, Taylor Elyse Morrison, whom I learned leads a company (also called “Inner Workout”) which provides tools, resources, and trainings in the realm of self-care.

I loved the layout of this book- it’s inviting, super accessible, and easy to read. I liked the Take Care Assessment, which directs you to the dimensions that you need to work on the most. The journaling prompts and affirmations were a nice addition.

Inner Workout provides the framework for enhancing your own wellbeing, putting yourself in the driver’s seat of self-improvement, awareness, and wholeness.

Thanks to NetGalley, Taylor Elyse Morrison, and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a brilliant book. It goes into the complexities of "self-care" and the harm of simplifying the movement/practice. The author takes an intersectional approach to self-care and explains how it cannot be one size fits all approach and must be unique. The author guides you through the work you can do.
