Jocelyn Wright has celebrated most of her adult Christmases with only her son and her aunt. The traumatic event that took her parents fractured their family and led to both her siblings fleeing Serenity Point. As Christmas approaches once more, she throws herself into the preparations, all the while hoping and praying that her siblings might one day find their way back home.
After losing his job, Darius Clarke decides to spend the holiday season with his sister in Serenity Point. She’s going through a loss of her own as her long-term boyfriend has left her and their son. It promises to be a dreary holiday season, but that doesn’t matter to Darius, as it’s not a holiday he’s ever really celebrated.
Darius didn’t count on meeting his sister’s friend, who is determined to make the holiday season special for everyone. After he agrees to use his artistic talent to paint the backdrops for the children’s Christmas program that Jocelyn is in charge of, Darius finds himself spending more and more time with her.
Jocelyn is drawn to Darius because he’s very much the type of man she’s always been attracted to, but she knows that he’s just in Serenity Point for the holiday season. Once the new year arrives, he’ll be on his way. Still, she wants to share the joy of Jesus’s birth with him, helping him to find hope in his heart to heal the wounds of his childhood.
Sharing so much of herself with someone whose future isn’t in Serenity Point is a sure path to heartache, but Jocelyn can’t seem to stop herself from falling in love with Darius. This might be another Christmas where she kept the candles in the window for her siblings, but perhaps this Christmas would still be filled with hope and joy.
Though Darius has never given much thought to getting married or having a family, since meeting Jocelyn, he’s come to reconsider all kinds of things. But can he take the risk on fully embracing any of it? Could things really be different for him?
Could this Christmas be the one that finally touches his heart?
I enjoyed "A Candle in the Window". Joclene is such a great mom and her patience is so incredible. Darius is described in such a way that I can just see him. Definitely a bad boy image ;). Their personalities mesh so well. I love how much Darius grows . I'm looking forward to the following stories to see this to the end. I do wish it had more of an ending but realize she is making this a trilogy as she has other years in her Christmas theme way.
Who would have thought that Rebecca’s bad boy brother, Darius would be moving in with her and her son, Aaron. Different as night and day now, they still loved each other much and she was still praying their other siblings would change. Then their sweet sweet Jocelyn that had befriended Rebecca at church and school with her son Colby. Let the reading begin now. No you won’t put it down. Enjoy.
I have enjoyed all of this author’s books that I have read. I especially liked to read any of the series she has written and enjoyed reading about the people mentioned in the other books. Unfortunately, this book didn’t grab my attention as her other books have because it felt like there wasn’t really a story line. I have given it four stars because it was well written and the gospel was well presented but not much happened.
The cover and title of this book grabbed my attention 1st- though it isn't my usual choice of genre (Suspense). The characters were compelling and their life experiences and "baggage" very believable. Really like the Faith message shared throughout. The contrast between dry legalistic religion and a real relationship with a Loving Forgiving Father God was realistically expressed.
I've never made it a point of reading specifically Christmas stories during the Christmas season, last year's 3 Kings series started me and this year I'm looking forward to the next two Serenity Point books.
I enjoyed Darius' bad boy look and the hurts he, Jocelyn and Rebecca have overcome.
Kimberly Rae Jordan doesn't disappoint. She weaves a lovely story featuring two single moms, Rebecca and Jocelyn and their boys who have become best friends. Then Rebecca's "bad boy" brother comes to visit. He is kind and thoughtful under his initially gruff exterior. Just the kind of man Jocelyn was attracted to. If only he was staying in town...
This book is so refreshing and heartwarming. You have Darius who has a dislike for the Christmas season due to his upbringing. Rebecca, his sister, has overcome their past and hopes for the same for Darius. There are other characters in this book that have problems they are working through. It is a very interesting and inspiring story. Good job Kimberly.
Jocelyn & Darius have a bright future ahead, will it all work out? Will Zoe & Chip ever find their way home? Does Rebecca find her true love? Is Carla's relationship with Devon really over? Anxious to find out what happens in Serenity Point!
I so enjoyed this book. I felt a lot of Christmas joy reading. This author never disappoints. I remember last year’s Christmas series and how I enjoyed that too. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is, in my opinion, the perfect Christmas story! I love when people see Jesus for who He really is and also how He loves, through each of us. i can't wait till the next story!!! Very well done!
I loved "A Candle in the Window." Who is the perfect mixer excitement, Christmas wonder, and Love. This was the 1st book I've ever read by Kimberly Rae Jordan, but I will be following her and beating her novels in the future!
I have enjoyed all of Kimberly Ray Jordan’s books. I think that I have almost all of them on my Kindle app. A Candle in the Window is another winner of a book and a great start of the 3 book series!
What a wonderful contemporary romance. This story deals with the characters past tragedies and how they are able to move forwards. Readers are able to relate to this story. The characters are very likable and family oriented. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this book. It's nice to see what it does for people when they realize that we have a loving Heavenly Father who sent His only begotten Son to be our Savior.
A very enjoyable wintery day read for me. Jordan develops believable characters in totally imaginable situations. I really like the way characters from her other books show up as minor players in the current story. Better than a Halmark movie for me!
A trio of troubled adults, with traumatic backgrounds are learning to enjoy Christmas & the reason to celebrate. Two siblings grew us with serious harshness from their parents. One began learning about faith earlier than the other. Great story
Loved this Christian romance!!! Wonderful message of forgiveness and finding love again during difficult times. Can't wait to read other books in series
I enjoyed this book. The characters have come from difficult backgrounds, but there isn't a lot of angst - just thoughtful character growth and development. It was a relaxing Christmas read, and I look forward to the next one!
A simple story with lots of ordinary everyday situations. The characters are lovable and even though they have gone through traumatic childhoods, the writer tries to focus on how to live in the present. The language is very simple and for me the book is primarily a fun way to learn English.
