Shadow Lake #2

The Forgiving Quilt

Rate this book
From award-winning New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Lenora Worth, the second in the Shadow Lake inspirational romance series featuring independent Amish sisters who run a historic inn located near Lake Erie, Pennsylvania. It’s a satisfying life of simplicity and peace, but when Eliza King must hire a childhood nemesis to help care for the horses, will she be able to find room in her heart to forgive? And can forgiveness be the most powerful force on the road to everlasting love?

Eliza King already has a broken heart, and thanks to a rickety ladder, she now has a broken leg too. She isn’t dealing with either very well. Ever since a brief romance ended when the boy who’d been courting her tried a little too hard to take things further, Eliza has sought refuge in reading books and tending to her beloved horses. Being incapacitated makes the latter impossible. But her Englisch doctor knows an Amish man looking for just such work . . .

Eliza is shocked to discover that the man is Levi Lapp, the very boy who humiliated her, now all grown up. Levi is embarrassed over his clumsy behavior as a teen. He wants to earn Eliza’s forgiveness, even if he can’t win back her heart. . . . And once Eliza reluctantly agrees to hire him, she finds herself enjoying the little gifts and encouraging notes Levi leaves for her. Encouraged by her older sister, she begins to fashion a quilt out of each item. Soon Eliza can see Levi’s caring spirit plainly before her—and the possibility that he might just be the best thing for her horses—and for her.

As I began to read THE FORGIVING QUILT, I wasn’t disappointed, being instantly swept away. The writing was just as amazing as I’d remembered from the first book in this series, with three-dimensional characters you’ll fall in love with. The storyline is unique and rich. THE FORGIVING QUILT is the second book in the Shadow Lake series, but can be easily read as a stand alone. I always love Lenora Worth’s books. Her Amish fiction books are really interesting to me, as they’re a peek into a world I know very little about. She portrays that world so vividly. Eliza and Levi knew each other in the past when they were much younger. Now Eliza needs help as she has a broken leg and can’t take care of the animals. Both of these troubled people have painful pasts. Maybe it is time to let go of the hurt and try to move on. Can Eliza forgive Levi?

I really loved THE FORGIVING QUILT. Eliza and Levi are amazing, trying to make the best of a situation, well at first it was just Levi. Both are strong characters with just enough flaws to make them believable, but not too many to make them hard to like. Levi is one of my favorite heroes. I love the way he determinedly, but considerately, works to help Eliza overcome her fears, while strengthening his faith in the process. I absolutely love the last chapter of the book. The scene between the two main characters is touching. I also love the Christian message of faith and trusting in God throughout THE FORGIVING QUILT. For me, it added so much to the story and to the characters. The journey of Levi and Eliza coming to rely on God’s promise to never leave is an amazing and engaging story.

THE FORGIVING QUILT is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! All of the Amish value their family time at the kitchen table. It is where they come together after a long, hard day of work. Is there a place at the table for Levi and Eliza? THE FORGIVING QUILT deals with Levi’s attempt at being forgiven, how Eliza tries to help him piece his life together, while also making a quilt of their memories. I couldn’t wait to finish this wonderful story to see if Levi was able to find balance in his life. I’m so excited to continue with this series.

In the story of the second sister of the Shadow Lake Inn series, we read about Eliza and Levi's struggles with each other from their teen years to the present. A misunderstanding is the best way to describe how things went wrong for them. Levi left town and is now back to help his family and also is working at the inn as a farrier, and just in time as Eliza has broken her leg and cannot work in the stable. She is independent, stubborn, and has some bitter feelings towards Levi, but he wants to win her heart back. Lots of twists, turns, ups, downs, stress, and forgiving are in the path to romance and a HEA. And a quilt is definitely part of path to forgiveness.

I loved this second chance Amish Romance . The characters captured my heart and I thought the story was entertaining. I was quickly drawn into the book and enjoyed the story line. The main point of the story was about forgiveness and turning away from bitterness about the past. Amish fiction has always been one of my favorite genres and this book didn’t disappoint. It was an easy to read book and had a nice ending.

Eliza King and Levi Lapp grew up together and attended the same school. When they were teens they dated until Levi tried to take advantage of Eliza and she broke up with him. Levi eventually left the community without even saying goodbye to Eliza. Years later when his father dies he returns home and decides to stay to help his mother and younger siblings. In need of work he applies for a job working at Eliza’s family Inn horse stable. She doesn’t want him there but her brother-in-law has already hired him. Eliza usually works in the stables with the horses but an injury has forced her to take a sick leave. They’re short handed and really need Levi and his knowledge of horses but Eliza doesn’t intend to make things easy for him. Levi has apologized for his actions on that long ago night but she’s not going to forgive and forget that easily. After what he tried to do when they courted years ago can she really trust him now ?

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and to fans of the Author. This is book two of the Shadow Lake Inspirational Romance series by Lenora Worth. I recommend that book one The Memory Quilt be read before this book because the story continues from where the first book stopped. Most of the characters that were in book one are a part of this book also.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

This is the second book in this series, and yes, they can be read alone, we do have recurring characters. This is Levi and Eliza's story, life long friends, but when something happens and Levi leaves, now there is need of forgiveness.
When the story begins, Levi has returned to his Shadow Lake community upon the death of his dad, can he go home again?
This story does deal with forgiveness, but it also has a lot of compassion, and deals with health issues, along with relationships, and then how our own minds perceive things!
I loved how Elsa's mom talks her daughter into making a forgiveness quilt, and thus we have the title of this read, but also maybe a path to help these two friends.
We could all take lessons from this Amish community and how they rally around those in need.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

I ended up listening to the audio version of this story and it was very nicely narrated. It kept me entertained and I enjoyed the way the narrator told the story. And what a story it was! This was a second chance love story with two people who had a big falling out years earlier. There were misunderstandings abounding in this book and as the characters worked through them, I was at times frustrated with them, especially Eliza, with how stubborn she was. There was a portion of the story where I had some trouble liking Eliza, as she flip flopped back and forth with the way she treated Levi. The poor man should have been suffering from whiplash!

Yet, even as I fussed at Eliza and wanted her to recognize what was in her own heart earlier than she did, I still enjoyed this story. Levi was a fairly patient man, yet he had a stubborn streak and a prideful streak, as well. These two both had a lot to learn about love and about communication. But it was a fun listen and I was intrigued by the sneak peek into book three that I was able to listen to. And even though I had not read book one in the series, I had no trouble jumping into this one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I typically start my reviews with my own description of the story … but the one done by the author/publisher is excellent. A rewording by this reviewer wouldn’t do "The Forgiving Quilt" justice. Please read on NetGalley or your favorite book-purchasing website.

My review …
This story is loaded with wise statements. But I think my favorite — not wise — but brought a big smile was “I’m not stubborn. I’m decisive.“ My daddy could at times be one stubborn man. If he had ever heard that one — he would have used it for the rest of his life.

How could I not like Eliza, at least most of the time — she doesn’t like brussels sprouts and I can’t stand ’em. Yuk! But there was an aspect of Eliza’s personality that wore on me as the story progressed which is why I rated “The Forgiving Quilt” with 4.5 stars instead of 5.

Eliza held onto a grudge for too long. I would have liked to see her character mellow sooner or at least argue with herself about it. The book is about forgiveness and I loved the idea of "The Forgiving Quilt".

This book is the second in the series but it could be read standalone. I had read the first book of the series, “The Memory Quilt”.

Pearls of wisdom sprinkled throughout. A big gray Percheron named Samson loves Eliza. And Eliza loves all her horses … and books.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “The Forgiving Quilt” via NetGalley from the publisher, Kensington Books, Zebra. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Rating: 4.5 rounded to 5 for sites that only display round numbers.

The Forgiving Quilt is the second book in The Shadow Lake series, but can be read as a standalone story. The series is about independent sisters and the first book is about Abigail King finding her husband, this book is about Eliza. Eliza takes care of the animals at the farm and historic Inn, but when she falls and breaks her leg, she needs to hire someone to help. She is told about a man who is a farrier who would be able to help and when he shows up, it is Levi Lapp, her childhood nemesis as well as the man who broke her heart. Levi wants forgiveness for his actions in the past and even if he can't win Eliza back, he wants to try. As they spend more time together they begin to realize that there are still feelings there. With the encouragement of Abigail, they may just have a second chance.

I really enjoyed this Amish romance with great characters, an interesting storyline and a chance for forgiveness and love. Eliza was a likable character, but there were many times that she frustrated me. She and Levi had kissed when they were teenagers, but when he left, she felt totally abandoned, which she really needed to get over. Because of the negative feelings Eliza harbors, her sister convinces her to make a forgiving quilt to think about the time they are spending together in the present where they have fun together. As Eliza begins to fall for Levi, he starts to question her motivation and their relationship takes a step backwards. Once again communication is an issue with this couple, but when they finally just share what is in their hearts, it works. This is a story of forgiveness, second chances, family, taking chances, honesty and of course romance. I enjoyed this one and will be reading the first in the series to learn about Abigail's family.

This second book in the Shadow Lake series is a heartfelt penned tale of forgiveness and the path one might need to take to truly find peace and forgiveness of self and others. Eliza and Levi reconnected when he returned home after being gone. Eliza didn’t want him working in the family stables but she had no choice with her injury. There were disappointments, victories and valleys Eliza and Levi face weekly with their relationship. I appreciated the wisdom of Eliza’s mother in suggesting she make a forgiving quilt to overcome her pain, guilt and gain a deeper understanding of forgiveness.

This is a clean Amish romance with lovable characters. It was nice to catch up with the King family at their beautiful inn and stables and reconnect with characters from The Memory Quilt. The Forgiving Quilt can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book one first.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publisher for an advance copy. I was under no obligation to write a positive review but have expressed my own opinion.

Letting Go of the Past

Eliza King is not very happy to find out that her former beau, Levi Lapp, has returned and will be working in her place while she heals from an accident. Eliza and Levi's past is riddled with deep hurts. Levi's goal is for Eliza to forgive him and for them to possibly have a relationship. He tries everything he can think of to make that happen. However, Eliza isn't very quick to buy into Levi's plan, until her mother encourages her to make a forgiving quilt. Even then, the road for these two is not a smooth one. Misunderstandings, lack of communication, letting go of the past, and even some characters created snags in their relationship. Nevertheless, watching their relationship develop with its ups and downs is what had me turning pages to see how it would all play out, The end result is one that did not disappoint making this a story I highly recommend.

THE FORGIVING QUILT by Lenora Worth is the second book in The Shadow Lake Series. It’s the fabulous story of Eliza King and Levi Lapp and centered around the Shadow Lake Inn in Lake Erie, Pennsylvania.

While her sisters, Abigail and Colette, helped their mother working in their home turned Inn, Eliza’s love is working the stables and gardens. She loves nothing more than to be out of the house and outdoors. Until recently, things had been running pretty smoothly, until a rickety ladder and a broken leg changed everything. Now recuperating from extensive surgery with an extended recovery time, she’s forced to sit more and help with chores she’s not very good at. Worse yet she must now partly turn her beloved stables over to an outsider because it’s too much for her brother-in-law to do. He’s already spread thin enough with all his other chores and now with his wife (Abigail) being pregnant. After being highly recommended by her Englisch doctor, she’s willing to accept help from this stranger. Little did she know it’s a man from her past – the same man she thought she would spend her life with and who broke her heart when he left.

Levi Lapp has returned home – to stay. He’s needed at home, especially after the death of his daed. With a mother and two younger siblings who need his help to bring in an income and help tending to their farm, he’s willing to take any and all jobs – even one at Shadow Lake Inn. He knows that will mean facing Eliza and the fiasco he made of handling his first love. They were young and he’d come on too strong in their first kiss. Instead of handling it like man, at only eighteen years old, he took the cowardly way out and just left town. He’d always wanted to travel so going on an adventure and learning a trade in the bargain seems like an easy fix. The problem is his feeling for Eliza never died. There’s never been anyone else for him. Can he get forgiveness and maybe, just maybe, get a second chance? If their first meeting, or even a few more after that, are any indications, it might be a long time coming, but he’s got time and he’s not going to give up so easy this time.

After advice from Abe, Eliza’s daed, of “Just be near” and knowing in his heart that Eliza was definitely worth it, he’s determined more than ever to court her properly, taking his time and doing it right this time, regardless of how long it may take. Eliza’s attitude, aloofness and spells of trying to avoid him altogether, he soon finds out that this isn’t going to be easy or quick.

About the same time, Eliza decided, although sewing wasn’t one of her strong points, that she was going to make her own memory quilt. It was her mamm’s suggestion on what to put in that quilt - the material gifts from Levi that show kindness. As her mamm said, “We Amish aren’t gut at accepting too many showy gifts, but gifts from heart are the best kind. With each gift Levi gives you, thank of the gesture he’s shown you. Gifts from the heart mean the world to a woman. We don’t need diamonds or fancy clothes or fancy homes. We need love, assurance, and strength. The kind of strength that cements a union for a lifetime.”

Are feelings of the heart able to go from a faint flicker of an ember to a full heartwarming glow after events of the past and the passage of time? Can forgiveness eventually turn to forgetting the past and moving forward into the future? Can Eliza conquer her fears of the unknown or change? Can Levi convince her that he’s never stopped loving her? Can he get over his feelings of inadequacy possible learning the riches aren’t always monetarily? Will Eliza finally learn what true love is and that sacrifices in love aren’t really sacrifices at all?

THE FORGIVING QUILT is fabulously written not only taking you one the emotional and exciting ride in the story of Eliza and Levi, but it might give you moments to pause, think and might even give you something to make your own relationship stronger. In a materialistic world, we often get caught up in the “me” society or thinking we need more or better stuff. Lenora Worth remarkably and in such a delightful way reminds us that the best things in life can’t be bought, but come from the heart. THE FORGIVING QUILT is most definitely FIVE STAR reading and I highly recommend this to not only people that love the Amish genre, but to anyone that loves a well-written story that will touch your heart, pull at your emotions and give your that happily ever after feeling on the last page. You will be left with the desire to see who the next book in this series will be about and make you anxious for its release. If you haven’t read the first book, you will be searching for it as well. Lenora Worth never disappoints her readers and proves it again in THE FORGIVING QUILT!

I receive a copy of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

The second book in Lenora Worth’s Shadow Lake series is just as captivating as the first one. Love the fresh slant this author brings to Amish fiction. In case you’re wondering, The Forgiving Quilt can easily be read as a standalone novel. The King sisters and their family’s historic inn are the common link that unites each story. Three sisters, three romances, three quilts. And that’s the other unifying factor — each sister crafts a quilt that helps her work through a problem.

In Eliza’s case, her forgiving quilt it is literally the path forward through forgiveness. Because — eeeeppp — Second Chance Romance alert! Only Levi and Eliza were both too young and inexperienced and just not ready to take their courtship further back when they were teens. Eliza has been nursing a grudge in a very un-Amish like way ever since. And then Levi walks back into her world. Oy — but she can be snippety and stubborn and downright frustrating at times.

But Levi’s up for the challenge. He’s determined to make amends with the hopes of a renewed friendship…maybe something more. And, my oh my, the deliberate way he sets about mending fences is so romantical! And sometimes funny, if not downright daunting at times.

Love the way that family plays an important role in this love story. In fact it’s that kind of collective wisdom that helps move things along in the right direction. So many great heart-to-hearts, both touching, but also amusing. Like Levi lamenting about Eliza to her father:

“Levi had his doubts, not about Eliza being worth the trouble, but about his being able to pull this off. He nodded all the same. He was talking to Eliza’s father, after all. “I will do my best.”

Abe seemed please with that response. “Women are a constant mystery, Levi. That’s part of the fun.”

“I’m not really having fun,” Levi said as they walked toward the stable.” ( p 56)

Bwahahaha! No fears, Levi does prevail! (not a spoiler ’cause this is a romance, after all!)

Now that Eliza and Abigail have achieved their happily-ever-afters, I’m excited to read Colette’s story which will round out this great series — and it’s going to be a Christmas book as well! Yipee!!

Reviewed at Happily Ever After Romance

The Forgiving Quilt is the second title in the Shadow Lake series, and although I came into this series with this story I do wish I’d kept to my usual routine of starting at the beginning. Oh, you can read Eliza’s and Levi’s romance just fine without the previous story but I did feel as though I was missing parts of the overall story that I would have liked to know beforehand. But, that’s me – you may feel quite differently for we all may read the same book but not react to it in the same fashion.

Levi and Eliza have a history, one that happened back in high school, a time of raging hormones no matter your beliefs and, unfortunately, that courtship ended quickly when Levi made a wrong move… one that Eliza would not tolerate. Soon after, Levi left the community and has only recently returned years later. Now, he’s been hired to help with the horses since Eliza is down with a broken leg, a situation that she isn’t exactly happy about but acknowledges that they do need the help.

I enjoyed The Forgiving Quilt. It’s a second chance for Levi and Eliza to work out their past and let their natural attraction to each other play out naturally, if with a bit of hesitation on Eliza’s part. Trust is a fragile thing, and Levi is going to have to work hard to regain it, and he does so in charming small offerings that melted my heart. Eliza may feel that she was correct all those years ago in her decision, but time moves on, even for stubborn women determined to hold on to a grudge. I loved watching Levi’s actions slowly win her over to seeing what they could have together, today – if she’d only leave the past where it belongs and open her heart to new possibilities.

If you love second-chance romance, an inspirational Amish romance, seeing love win out in the end, and a very well-written tale then you’ll love this one. Now, excuse me while I go back and read The Memory Quilt.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent.*

The Forgiving Quilt by Lenora Worth is the second book in The Shadow Lake series. It can be read as a standalone for those who have not read The Memory Quilt. I found The Forgiving Quilt easy to read thanks to Lenora Worth’s writing style. It is casual and friendly. The story moves along at a gentle pace. I enjoyed getting to know Eliza King and Levi Lapp as well as their families. The Forgiving Quilt is a story about forgiveness and letting go of past hurts. It is hard to move forward with your life if you are holding onto bitterness regarding a past incident. I like that Eliza’s mother had Eliza make a forgiveness quilt. It helped Eliza work through her past hurts and find a way to forgive. I wish Eliza had not been so stubborn. I did find it a touch aggravating after a while. There is a great deal of repetition in this book. The same details do not need to be repeated over and over (I got it the first time). I am glad that we get to catch up with Abigail and Jonah from The Memory Quilt. I enjoyed the animals in the story especially Levi’s horse, Rudolph. There are pearls of wisdom sprinkled throughout the story. One of my favorites is, “Forgiveness was such a beautiful thing.” There is an excerpt from the Christmas Quilt which is Colette King’s story (I am looking forward to reading it). The Forgiving Quilt is a clean Amish romance which provides a lovely escape from real life. The Forgiving Quilt is a sweet tale with a horrible fall, a hired helper, creating a quilt, finding forgiveness, and a second chance romance.

Forgiving is important
Author Lenora Worth presents her book "The Forgiving Quilt", the second book in the "Shadow Lake" Series, published by Kensington Books (Zebra). After six years Levi Lapp is back at Shadow Lake Inn near Lake Erie, Pennsylvania. He has two reasons for his return. The first reason is having been asked by Dr. Merrill to come and give his help to the King family. The second reason is to ask Eliza King to forgive him for dishonoring her family in "a foolish attempt to impress his friends during Rumspringa" (chapter 1). Eliza needs help after suffering a complicated break in her left leg but she struggle to accept it, especially from Levi. Will they ever be able to solve the issues that keep them apart?
O own a few books by Lenora worth, but this is the first one which I read that takes place among the Amish people. I enjoyed this clean romance with the likeable and realistic characters and the great story line about forgiveness. I highly recommend this book to readers who like novels that deal not only with romance but also with peoples' challenges set and for those who like novels set in the Amish environment.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I enjoyed this sweet romance of second chances. Eliza King along with her family run a Inn by Lake Erie. The family is strong in community and the sisters Eliza and Abigail are very independent women. Not in independent in the English sense but they speak their mind and work hard at the inn. The first of the series was on Abigail and the quilt her mother encouraged her to make and this one is on Eliza. Her mother has encouraged Eliza to make a quilt reflecting on forgiveness. Levi Lapp has come back to town after the death of his father. Levi had left the Amish community in bad terms with Eliza and now Levi has been hired to help Eliza with the inn. There is misunderstanding and mistrust between the two. Levi steps up more mature to win Eliza's heart. It is the little things that become big things for Eliza. However, with love there can be a fear of getting burned again and together thru suffering, they strengthen what they have. A mutual respect and maturity.

The quilt that Eliza is making helps her to see things that she may have missed and it is the story that the quilt tells that brings them together.

A special thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

The Forgiving Quilt by Lenora Worth is her second addition to the Shadow Lake series. Release date is November 29, 2022. Thank you Kensington Books, Zebra for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book. I was not required to give a positive review.

Eliza King and Levi Lapp had been friends since childhood. Everything was fine until Levi tried to advance their friendship too quickly. Because of this Levi left the community for a while and has now returned.

Levi needs a job to help support his family and the only job available is at the King’s stable. Needless to say Eliza is very taken back when Levi appears back in her life.

I am very impressed with the way Leona uses this story to explain the true lesson of forgiveness. We are quickly shown that forgiveness is a two-way street and show how a quilt can help you express your true feelings.

This is a well thought out and well written book that any Amish fiction lover will enjoy.

This is Worth's second book in the Shadow Lake Inspirational Romance Series. There are a lot of the same characters from the first book, including the three independent King sisters who run the Inn. Eliza King fell from a rickety ladder and badly broke her leg, so they need to hire someone to help with the horses, since she can no longer do that. Enter Levi Lapp, Eliza's childhood nemesis, who had gone into the outside world to learn the trade of being a top-notch farrier. He's now back home to support his mother and siblings, as his dad recently passed. away. .By working for the King's and others in the community, he'll be able to do this. Can Eliza forgive him his past, and can Levi be convinced that he's good enough for Eliza to marry?

I enjoyed this book with its theme of forgiveness running through it and the Amish lifestyle. I think it would be best to read the first book before this one,, so you get the backstory.

I was given an e-pub of this book from #NetGalley. All opinions expressed herein are strictly my own.

Eliza & Levi were young Amish teens the last time they saw each other; they were walking out but shared a kiss that surprised them both. Eliza blamed him for the kiss & Levi left town. Now, six years later, he has returned to care for his mother & siblings after his father death; can they forgive each other?
I almost stopped reading this several times. Eliza's attitude just was too haughty & she had an "it' s all about me" attitude that was hard to take. She would admit she wanted that first kiss but continue to blame him. I wanted to smack her & tell her to grow up. It ended well & I thought about getting the next book but, after reading a preview, think I will pass as it appears the youngest sister may be headed down a simular road. Don't mind the conflict, just hate blaming others when things don't go as they want them to.

The Forgiving Quilt is the second book in The Shadow Lake series. It follows the lives of three sisters who run an Inn with their parents. This book focuses on Eliza, the middle sister. Eliza breaks her leg and the family has to hire someone to help with the inn. Eliza’s ex-boyfriend Levi, gets the job. They broke up because they weren’t ready to handle the feelings they had for each other. I enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first. Eliza and Levi’s relationship dragged on. It took too long for them to get back together.
All of the characters are very likable. I look forward to the next book in the series. Many thanks to the author, Kensington Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Eliza King is taking care of the horses among other jobs at the family hotel when she gets injured and has to take some time to recuperate. Her brother-in-law hires Levi Lapp to work in the stables in her place. Levi is someone Eliza knew when she was younger and he has just returned to the area. There is a spark there but some old hurts and resentments. This is a great continuation of a series about the King sisters and their family's historic inn. I am enjoying this series and look forward to the next installment.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

The Forgiving Quilt by Lenora Worth is book two in her Shadow Lake series. I have not read the first book and it in no way detracted from this book.

Eliza King and Levi Lapp grew up together and dated for a while before Levi left the Amish community. Now he has returned and is working for Eliza’s family. Can the two of them become friends again? Could they rekindle their romance?

The main focus of this novel was forgiveness and turning away from the bitterness of your past. As a lover of Amish fiction, I enjoyed this second chance Amish romance.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this in return for my honest review.

Although this is book two in the Shadow Lake series I was able to read it as a stand-alone. Forgiveness is hard but as Eliza works on a forgiveness quilt she realizes she also needs to be forgiven for the part she played in the breakup with Levi Lapp. This book is a journey for each of them to forgive and be forgiven while establishing a new relationship and finding their footing. A story of family, loss, love, and faith with a quilt to tie all the knots together with a satisfying outcome. I need more of this family as I enjoyed how they loved and supported each other.
I was blessed to win a copy of this book from KAV. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

This is a sweet story. Not exactly my taste. The story moved very slow to me. I was drawn to it from the title and honestly did not understand it was an Amish story. (Looking back, I do not see how I did not realize that!) I found it interesting, but would probably not continue to read this genre. If you enjoy books centered with an Amish theme, I am sure you will love this book.

Thank you to Kensington Books, Zebra and NetGalley for allowing me to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

This clean Amish romance was a wonderful comfort read. There wasn't too much drama or angst - just two good people finding their second chance at love. I liked the supportive families, and I liked the idea of the quilt signifying the process of forgiveness. It was pretty realistic with the mixed feelings that come not being immediately resolved. I'd recommend it for people looking for a soothing, clean romance.

I usually like Amish fiction, but I didn't particularly care for this one. It was obvious that the couple would get back together, but all the misunderstanding and bickering got tiresome. (I almost didn't finish the book several times and started skimming the end.) Then the mother who was sick made Eliza promise not to tell her son, which caused even more grief for both parties. Maybe, I would have liked this book better had I read the 1st one.

A beautiful story of love forgiveness and hope. Eliza and Levi’s story shows how miscommunication and fear of the future can hinder a relationship. The author develops the story in her growth of characters and their being able to wait on God. The quilt tells a story of how the little things matter most and shows the depth of real love!

This was a well-written story but it just wasn't for me. I couldn't relate to the main character or really cheer for her. There was also too much bickering between the couple for my taste. All that being said, this book got a lot of rave reviews and if you like enemies to more and/or second chance romance in Amish fiction, you may want to give this a try.

I just can't get over the fact that I knew this story and I had read it prior to this. It didn't say it was a re-released book, but it has to be....
It was a good book, but just so oddly familiar.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley.

I enjoyed this second book to the series. It deals with the ideas of forgiveness and moving forward. While making the forgiveness quilt, Eliza learns that second chances are an option. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
