I'm not in a reviewing mood, but I want to get something down here before I forget everything about this book entirely. So this won't be the rant I intended to write, but it'll have to do.

description

Some quick background: I didn't love book one of this series and I skipped book two as book one and two were a veritable duet. Book three was a surprising success and I went into this one thinking it would be a slam dunk.

As fans of the author will know, this book featured the son and daughter of two of the main couples of this world. Two of my FAVORITE couples. Additionally, both of the male halves of these couples are the head honcho "Capo" of their respective mafia group. So this should have been amazing. And, admittedly, I am a bit of an outlier here for not thinking so, so keep that in mind.

Long story short, this would have been amazing if it was an arranged marriage between Amo/Greta and the two mafia families. With Greta being like her Uncle Nino (to be blunt: they both present with autism spectrum qualities), the build of a forced relationship with Amo would have been absolutly delicious, just like the building of Luca/Aria, Remo/Seraphina, Gianna/Matteo, Val/Dante, and Anna/Santino's relationships were delicious. Because they BUILT over time.

Instead, Amo and Greta barely meet in passing and we were presented with what amounts to one of the crappiest renditions of insta-love that I have ever had the misfortune to read.

But seriously though. I felt ZERO chemistry, ZERO connection, and ZERO investment. And plenty of boredom. And the (very delayed) sex sucked.

description

The book started off strong and Greta had such potential as a character, but she ended up landing very flat for me. I just didn't care about her.

But let me get to what annoyed me the most about the book.

People are going to probably disagree with me because, LOVE, and that's fine.

***SPOILERS***

What Luca (the head of the Famiglia) allowed to happen at the end of the book was a complete betrayal to the Famiglia in my opinion. A betrayal to his own people. Straight up. And I honestly wouldn't blame his soldiers for revolting against him.

They were at WAR with the Camorra. Earlier in the book, peace is ended and they are at each other's throats for the next full year or so. It's blatantly stated that the Camorra returned Famiglia members back in pieces. Meaning the Camorra killed seized members of the Famiglia - KILLED them - and returned them back in pieces. Returned people's son and husbands and fathers back in pieces. And then Luca just allows the Camorra to come to a Famiglia meeting and openly kill Famiglia members?

description

That's fucking insanity.

Yes, what Cressida did was fucked up. And them "allowing" Nevio to kill her is one thing. Perhaps Luca killing the people who helped her because they did so without is permission I would even accept. But to allow the Camorra onto your soil, into your house, and allowing them to KILL your members in front of other loyal members?

Nahhhhh, man.

And I don't care that the "Traditionalist" faction supposedly disagreed with Luca. Squabbles happen. But to actively allow your longstanding enemy to come in and kill members of your group?

Why would anyone stay loyal after that? In real life, the soldiers would all rise up and fucking off Luca.

description

Just sayin.

Anyway, I will still continue with this series, because I still love it and just accept that some of the installments are duds for me. And I am REALLY looking forward to Nevio's book. He's my favorite brand of crazy. Fingers crossed Reilly doesn't fuck that one up.

re-read no°3: 4.5 stars

seems like i'm in my re-reading all my fav books era 🌚 i haven't even read nevioaurora's book yet, but just from all the spoiler reviews i've seen, it seems like amogreta stays the superior Sins of the Fathers couple 😌

****

4.5 stars

After how the last 5-6 Cora books have been a complete disaster, I might have gotten carried away with my rating a bit after just finishing the book. Nonetheless, I’m happy to report that she delivered with amogreta and that this is her best books in years. 🎉

Take my rating with a grain of salt, because I love amogreta so much and no one can make me hate them. This book is serving one of the most hated romance trope: INSTA LOVE. But amogreta made love at first sight their bitch.

I’ve been waiting for their book the moment it was announced that Amo & Greta were a thing and let me tell you that this couple served the angsty, forbidden Romeo & Juliet style kind of romance. Not sure if anyone who is not familiar with Cora’s mafia universe is going to enjoy this book as much, but if you followed some of Cora’s series you’ll love how two mafia worlds collide. 🙏

What if you met your soulmate at the wrong time?

PLOT

Amo (H) is engaged to Cressida (OW), because he had sex with her and took her virginity. As the Famiglia is divided right now, cause Luca (Amo’s father) abolished the ‘bloody bed sheet’ tradition and a couple of white old men and their wives feel butthurt. Greta (h) and Amo meet for the first time when Luca and Amo are in Las Vegas to meet with Remo and Co. for business. Amo and Greta share a connection the moment they lay eyes on each other (sounds corny ik) and try to see each other in secret. Amo even wants to break his engagement with Cressida, cause he can’t stand her and wants to be with Greta. Both families find out and there is a lot of tension. Luca basically tells Amo that the only way he can be with Greta is if he steps down as future Capo and betrays his family. Meanwhile, daddy Remo won’t even entertain the idea of letting Greta out of Las Vegas to be with Amo. Amo proposes to Greta, but she says No, for various reasons and breaks both their hearts. Amo ends up marrying Cressida. The Famiglia and Camorra are declaring war with each other. Then there is a time jump of one year. Amo and Greta meet up again after one year of silence and their connection is still as strong as before. They decide to have an affair behind their families back.

With every step Cressida took closer to me, I knew she wasn’t the woman I wanted to marry. With every intake of breath, I knew I loved the woman sitting somewhere in this church. And with every furious beat of my condemned heart, I knew I could never be with the woman I loved.

As for the trigger warning and safety: the beginning of the book mentions CHEATING. Let me assure you that Amo doesn’t cheat ON Greta, but WITH Greta on Cressida. What some readers might not consider as safe is that Amo does sleep with his wife Cressida during that one year. But I don’t think that’s cheating since Amo & Greta weren’t together while the two families are at war and had no contact. Is Amo the typical Cora manwhore who fucks around with other woman on his wife who he can’t stand? Yes, but luckily Greta is not his wife 🤡 But once amogreta reconciled Amo is 100% faithful to Greta.

AMO - LIKE FATHER LIKE SON - VITIELLO

“Love is for dreamers or weaklings. I’m neither”

love how Amo continues with the cheating-on-the-wife tradition just like his father. The cheating gene is strong with the Vitiello family. 🥰🙏

I’m honestly surprised at how much I actually love Amo, cause I’m actually that person who judges second generation kids by how much I loved their parents book. After all I hated Mister-crushed-a-man’s-throat-with-his-bare-hands-Vitiello, so my expectations for his spawn are low. I always knew I would like him with Greta, but to actually like him as an individual too???

Amo is such a softie with all his women in his family. And when he laid eyes on Greta he’s gone. The gold medal for the biggest pussy eater goes to Amo Vitiello and he has beaten all the other contestant by a landslide. I don’t know a more pussy whipped obsessed man in my life. At one point in the book I was praying for Greta’s vagina, cause it seemed like Amo’s lips were permanently glued there. 911-someone get that man some help it might be a serious condition.

I shrugged out of my shirt then leaned forward and draped it carefully over Greta’s shoulders. It was way too big for her, covering her thighs too. She pulled it tighter around herself and actually drew in a breath then peered up at me with a small, lovely smile. “Thank you. Your shirt smells good.”
”It smells like me,” I said as if my brain cells had left my skull.

I also worry very much about Amo’s remaining brain cells whenever he is in Greta’s vicinity. 🙏

It was almost comical how he has no morals when it’s came to taking Cressida’s virginity or fucking other women, but he REFUSED to disrespect Greta and take her virginity. It was right there for him to take, but no Amo really gave me blue balls and waited til he could marry Greta to deflower her. A true ✨ gentleman ✨

GRETA - FUTURE VEGAN MICHELIN CHEF - FALCONE

“I never thought about kissing someone. But I think with you I could imagine having my first kiss one day.”

I always knew Greta was different, but I didn’t realized the extent of how much Greta is a weirdo until I read the beginning of the book. Not 12 yr old Greta hiding for hours in Fabi & Leona’s basement in a CARTON after witnessing something traumatizing and then peeing in the corner in her tutu costume. Y’ALL WHAT. As if that wasn’t bad enough, after almost getting caught in the basement, Greta manage to hide in Aurora’s room for some more.. just sitting in her closet in the dark or laying still under Aurora’s bed like a corpse.

She was such a weirdo and I appreciate it. Her POV at times felt almost clinical like Nino in female form and I thought it was so interesting. I’m almost don’t want to say that Greta is not like other girls, bc that notion has such a negative ring to it, but Greta stands out among CR’s heroines. Dancing, wearing tutus and caring for animals is a big part of Greta’s personality and nothing unique for heroines, but I love how straightforward Greta is in her communication. She gets her point directly across without BS. She is like a mix between Kiara and Nino. Nino bluntness and sharpness and Kiara’s soft heart for all things human and animals. It’s just funny that Greta is actually Remo and Serafina kids and nothing like her parents.

AMOGRETA

Amo touched his forehead to mine. “Every part of me that matters, my soul, my heart, my love, is yours. It’ll always be yours.”

my beloved babies!! I truly love them so much. I think part of the reason why I don’t mind the love at first sight with amogreta is because of the forbidden nature of their relationship. It’s been known that Nevio and Amo hate each other guts. Luca and Remo also tolerate each other at best. There are already so many external forces that are keeping them apart .. that I actually don’t amogreta skipping the ‘getting to know each other’ phase and jumping straight to falling in love. Star crossed lovers done right. Romea and Juliet without the tragic ending.

“I regret every moment I’m not with you.”

Cora’s angstiest book to date. It takes Amo & Greta forever to be together and the reason why they couldn’t be together even made sense in my eyes, so every moment they could meet was so precious.

“Why do you make me feel like myself and at the same time like someone new?” If I only knew. Why did she make me feel so unhinged and as if I’d finally come home at the same time?

Do you know how I know that amogreta are the definition of soulmate? Greta experiencing new vegan dishes and Amo actually saying that it taste good. Like boy why are you lying so hard. We all know it’s probably taste like nothing. But like the obedient pussy whipped boy Amo is, he just smiles and praises Greta culinary skills. And if he doesn’t like it, he can always eat her pussy for ✨ dessert ✨

“There’s nothing between us anymore, Greta. You didn’t allow it to be.” I got up with a hard smile. “Don’t trust me to save you again.”

Even tho I love how Amo was such a pussy eater supremacist. I’ll have to say that the smut in this book was not great. Can Cora stop describing Greta being aroused or her cum as her “lust”. If i have to read about “ her lust” one more time, someone has to pay. 🥴 The only reason why I didn’t really mind the cringe smut, was because I don’t think any of Cora’s book have great sex scenes to begin with. 🤷🏽‍♀️ The only thing I wanted Cora to give me is some passionate sex between Amo and Greta. They don’t have sex until the last 10% of the book and even when they do, Amo is so fucking gentle with her to not hurt her tiny pussy. While I love a gentle and patient king, I just wanted Amo to go feral ONCE and fuck her through the roof.

The amogreta domestic scenes??? I ATE THEM UP AND WENT BACK FOR SECONDS. Every little thing they did together made me go “AWWWWW 🥺” when amogreta would wash & dry dishes together and Greta teasing Amo for being a spoiled kid, cause he doesn’t have to do any chores at home. When Greta is just riding her tractor around her farm and feeding her animals and Amo watching her from afar and smiling to himself. They only had to cuddle, hug or hold hands and it made me go 🥰😩💕

Amogreta not only stopping war once, they even ending it. ICONISM. Juliet and Romeo WHO? They could never. 💅

OTHER THOUGHTS

↳ No one writes dramatic ass scenes like Cora Reilly does. 🤣🤣 I would recommend this book for the sheer drama of it all. It has it all… war between two families, gun fights, knight fights, near deaths, people jumping of bridges, sex, family drama, betrayal. IT WAS A CIRCUS RIOT. 😭😂 I need someone to pick this book up and make a movie out of it.

↳ THE FALCONE FAMILY SCENES!!! The Falcone family is simply the best. Nevio x Greta scenes made me soft. Nevio is so unhinged, but when he is with Greta is gets slightly softer and it’s so cute to see how Greta brings out the soft side in everyone. Same with Greta & Remo or Greta & Serafina. I loved reading about all their scenes together.

↳ The Vitiello family on the other hand ehhh I still don’t like Luca. He is a consistent king and annoys me in every book he is in. 💅 he and Aria get a half bonus point for the way he raised Amo. But I deduct -5 points, because of that backstabbing attack on the Falcone on Amo's wedding night. That was LOW even for you Luca.

”Speaking of future, how’s your lovely fiancée?” Nevio asked casually. His eyes held mockery. “I can’t wait to attend the wedding of the century to bear witness to the greatest love story of all time.”
I smiled cruelly. “When are you going to kidnap a poor woman as your wife of your own as is family tradition and the only way a woman will ever tolerate your crazy ass?”

still mourning NevioIsabella .. we could have it all and if Nevio continued with the kidnapping legacy of his father.

↳ The choice of letting Serafina be a surrogate for Amo & Greta’s babies made me 70% go emotional and 30% feel weird, cause that’s Greta’s mom after all. But nontheless, I think it’s so heartwarming for Fina to do that for her daughter when Greta can’t carry a baby after getting stabbed in the stomach. Knowing Fina still wants to do that even when she hates pregnancy. Best mom I love her. 😭

↳ I’m sad to see Greta leaving Las Vegas and her family. But I couldn’t imagine Amo living in Las Vegas and taking orders from Remo/Nevio. He would get himself killed in a day. Ngl I would have loved to see Amo kidnapping Greta and just ran away with her for a while. That would have been so funny to see how everyone would scramble to find them. 🤣

”Don’t listen to these assholes. Stay where you are. You belong in the light.” My fingers slid over my tutu. “I belong with the people I love. I don’t fear the dark.”

↳ What’s with the marriage between Maximo and Sara?? Everything around them seemed so mysterious and I’m intrigued. Can’t wait for their books and I just hope that Maximo doesn’t fuck around on her.

CONCLUSION

By Fate I Conquer is without a doubt my favorite Cora Reilly book right now, even with all the OW drama. It’s not perfect, but it was perfect for me. She really gave me one of the softest mafia couples ever.

I had 100 some likes before and now it says I have 1 like.

Rating: 3.5:I had a really hard time rating this book. There is a lot to unpack.

Amo and Greta’s have been one of Cora Reilly’s most anticipated pairings. Fans have spent years theorizing about how their story would be. This was one of my most anticipated couples of her. The daughter and son of two capos. It seemed like a dream pairing. There were certain things that I hoped would not be in the book. I was upset when I found some stuff out. I put off reading it for a bit. Thank you to the Goodreads friends that provided me with detailed safety info. Thanks for listening to my long rants as I read the book lol.

The idea I had in my head for Amo/Greta’s story and what was actually written didn’t all live up to what I hope it would be. I don’t think the book was as bad as I thought it would be when I first found about certain things. There were some things I really hated in the book and I wish Cora didn’t take things in certain directions. I think some of it could have been better and it could have been worse. My motto while reading, “It could have been worse”. I think there were a lot of entertaining scenes and good family moments that I enjoyed. There was some Shakespearian stuff in the book and a Romeo and Juliet vibe but with a happy ending. I thought Amo/Greta were a really sweet couple. I enjoyed the domestic scenes with them where they do dishes and he watches her while she rides a tractor. I can never get enough of the family scenes.

Mostly dual pov. There is chapter in Aria, Luca, and Remo’s povs. Fina’s pov will be in the Camorra anthology.

Tropes: Insta love/love at first sight, forbidden love, star crossed lovers.

Amo Vitiello-(Amo’s ages in the book 17, 23-maybe 28/29). He is the son of the current Capo of the Famailgia, Luca Vitiello. He lives in N.Y. He is the future Capo of the Famiglia.

Greta Falcone-(ages in the book flashback to 12, present time 18 almost 19-maybe 23/24) She is the daughter of the Capo of the Camorra, Remo Falcone. She lives in Las Vegas.Greta is a vegan that loves to take in rescue animals. She is very kind and loves ballet. I think she is on the autism spectrum and doesn’t like crowds or to be touched by strangers. She is quirky and a little weirdo. She is full of surprises that is for sure.

I wasn’t expecting that opening in the book. I was hoping to get a sweet flashback to when Greta was little and I got the opposite. Nevio/Greta’s 12th bday.

Amo’s first chapter is when he is 17. He does something stupid.

Story skips ahead 6 years.

Meet Cute:I loved their meet cute. Greta keeps Amo on his toes bc he never knows what she is going to do or say. I love that Greta has no filter.

I thought there would be a scene of Greta going to see a ballet but there weren’t any.

Nevio/Amo were funny

Nevio asked casually. His eyes held mockery. “I can’t wait to attend the wedding of the century to bear witness to the greatest love story of all time.”

I smiled cruelly.“When are you going to kidnap a poor woman as your wife of your own as is family tradition and the only way a woman will ever tolerate your crazy ass?

Me anytime Vitiello/Falcone scenes together:

The Unholy Trinity:
Together they are a terror.

Nevio Falcone-I’d like more on why so unhinged other than“Falcone Blood”. I found him entertaining. Nevio/ Remo could have a second career in theater.

Alessio Falcone-he's more level headed than the other two. I really liked his relationship with Greta.

Massimo Falcone-I think Cora said he is the funniest of the next gen kids.

It’s sweet how protective they are of Greta.

Twin BondI like Greta/Nevio’s special twin bond. He could be really sweet with her. Greta is the light to Nevio’s dark. Greta has some darkness in her too. She is the calm to his storm. They are codependent. I think it is good for them to get some space. Greta feels like she has to be there to help temper his inferno. I didn’t like when Greta was taking a bubble bath and Nevio was having a conversation with her though.

Nevio shook his head with a chuckle. “Don’t listen to these assholes. Stay where you are. You belong in the light.” My fingers slid over my tutu. “I belong with the people I love. I don’t fear the dark.”

I wish there were even more scenes with family. I can never get enough family scenes. I love that Remo has this sweet daughter, his Mia Cara.

“Considering what kind of man I am and the sins I’ve committed, I don’t know why I deserve a daughter like you.”

Greta always had a sweet relationship with Savio and he still calls her Dollface. I like Nino and Greta’s special relationship. They understand each other. I wish Kiara was in more.

Gemma/Savio have a little girl! I wanted him to be a girl dad.

Fabi/Leona have a son Davide

Fina/Remo have another son Guilio(6). I wish Guilio would have been in more of the book. He sounds like a handful.
I feel for Kiara and Fina- Greta said the Unholy Trinity used to give them gag gifts of severed body parts.

Timeline of Events:

Epilogue:

I got my Growl/Greta scene!I loved seeing Greta meet the Trevison’s. It warms my heart to see Growls inner circle grow. Greta is going to work at his shelter and live close by. It’s nice that Greta has family to make her transition to N.Y. easier.

I love that Maximus(Growl’s son)is bffs with Amo.

I love Valerio! He is so funny. He is a mix of young Fabi/ Matteo. I have hope for this boy.

I'm glad Aria/Aurora are close

I thought Fina’s past kidnapping would be a bigger deal in this book but it wasn’t. I want to know Outfits reaction to stuff.

I wish it would have shown Amo’s first Christmas with the Falcone’s

Some Future pairings:
Sara /Maximus-They have a marriage of convenience of sorts. Their story might come out in 2023. I’m scared for Sara’s story bc it sounds like something bad went down with the Bratva and Romero/Maximus want revenge. There is a lot of mystery. I fear that she might have been raped. Growl/Cara and Romero/Lily are two of my favorite couples of Cora so it’s nice to see their kids get together.

Isa/Alessio- It will be enemies to lovers. I’m intrigued by them as a couple. I admit, I did ship the idea of Alessio/Carlotta. I can get onboard with Isa/Alessio. They are cousins but not blood related.

Carlotta/Massimo-Cora said they will have one of the lightest stories. I figured Carlotta would end up with one of Nino’s sons. I’m all for a light sweet story.

Nevio/Aurora By Frenzy I Ruin-I thought Aurora’s crush on Nevio was cute and that he played dolls with her. He's only person she can't lie to.

i had some expectations for this, mainly bc CR has written some of my all time fav books/couples (*cough* Remofina and Ninokiara) and, although this wasn't a favorite, it was still enjoyable in its own way and, honestly, one of her better releases since Twisted Bonds—with the exceptions of Sweet Temptation and Bound by the Past. if anything, i'm just glad it wasn't Savio, Adamo or Dante's first book level bad (sorry if you loved their books, but i didn't. 🥱 i'm always gonna be petty at how Savio and Adamo had so much potential but... they went downhill instead. ANYWAYS). i personally wasn't a fan of the beginning of AmoGreta's romance with love at first sight. sure, it can work in some very few, rare books, but it didn't for me here; however, i grew to adore this pairing as i kept reading with the direction their relationship went into. the second half was my fav part with all the drama and angst bc they were executed in a way where it was entertaining, but still emotional in some scenes. family moments will always get to me when it comes to the Falcone family though, ngl. 😭 the writing in this book definitely felt a bit like the CR books i had loved/enjoyed so i hope the future books will be similar to this. i'm so excited for NevioAurora. 🥹

leaving this off with one of my fav Remo moments that made me sob:
“Greta doesn't need to marry to be a queen. Only by existing, she's shining brighter than most ever will,” Remo said in a harsh voice.

p.s. i'm laughing at the fact that i originally thought this would have tension bc of who Amo and Greta's fathers are and, although it did have some tension, the actual relationship was one of the more sweeter ones of CR's books. 😭🤣

*begrudgingly, reluctantly, muffling and suffocating the screams of the hater inside of me that tells me to settle for 3 😔*

Who would have thought Cora Reilly could write a modern-day classic? 🥺

These chubby cinnamon rolls — Amo and Greta — are the new Romeo and Juliette of our time. 🥺 Too bad they didn't commit suicide though. 😔

Shakespeare is smoking nervously on the sidelines mulling over his options after the world became a witness to Amo and Greta's epic story of love blooming amidst clan rivalry. Mr. William, you need to take a back seat now, hope you understand —

“You’re freezing, Greta. We need to do something about it.” I sat up straighter, weighing my options. “Would you feel comfortable putting your feet on my lap? I swear on my honor that I won’t touch you inappropriately in any way.”
The words left my mouth before I could process them. They just fell out, like that one biker’s glass eye when I’d slammed my axe into his head.

If this is not the most adorable analogy I've ever encountered, my name is not Irunía. 🥺🥺🥺🥺

I had so much fun reading this book.
Yet there are so many things I wish that had been done differently.

This book certainly has some old Cora level of unhinged and ridiculous absurdity that I love so much: stabbing, strangling, ambushing, setting on fire, kidnapping and shooting random and not so random characters, ridiculously dramatic hospitalisations, exceptional passions and other woman drama, all written in a very casual manner.

Not to mention that the story is so much better than the bland and distasteful disaster that was Marcella×lapdogMaddox duet and Adamo×Dinara story.

Despite all the crazy and super entertaining plot shenanigans — I was more excited to read about the clan war rather than Amo×Greta secret encounters, to be perfectly honest 🤡🤡🤡, I still found this book to be a tad too sterile, sanitized and wannabe politically correct for a mafia romance.

My interest in the story went through some trying physical strain bouncing up ↗️{0-20%} and down ↘️ up ↗️{35-50%} and down ↘️up ↗️{70-85%} and down ↘️... which is not necessarily a bad thing. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

s p o i l e r s

Funny shit

The first thing that took me out was the fact that a gang of mafia leaders couldn't find a little girl hiding away on their premises for two days straight? 🤣

Do you mean to say that 12-year-old Greta outsmarted Nino, Remo, Savio, Fabiano and their security staff put together? 💀💀💀

One would think Remo would have crawled into every cryptic hole and corner of his and his family's property to trace down his daughter.

Anyway, the scene was lowkey adorable and set up the tone for this book. No one can pull off that inmeasurable amount of absurdity, squeeze it into one little book (not so little) and make it work quite like Cora Reilly does. 🤌🏻

Amo (H)

my pussy whipped, obsessed boy. 🥺 I'm afraid that I wasn't impressed by your performance much:(

❥'Pussy whipped' is a nice characterisation but it's not saying much when it turns out the hero's whole fucking personality. Boi, give me something to work with, give me ✨SPICE✨. I hate mediocre tropey books that capitalize on many readers' obsession with popular tropes and their total disregard for the fact that tropes do not matter unless they're done right: create a certain vibe, atmosphere and build-up. Which doesn't want to say that this book is tropey mediocrity, yet at times it certainly read as if Cora kept pushing Amo into the yoke of 'boy obsessed' convention at the expense of some quality character building.

Let me give you an example: the ease with which he was ready to give up the position of future capo.

I think that for someone who craved to become Capo that much, Amo giving up on that aspiration because of a woman he had met a few days/weeks ago didn't make any sense. I'm positive that the scene where Amo proposes to Greta understanding full well that he forfeits his right to become a capo was meant to make the impressionable young ladies swoon and even though I'm indeed young and a lady, I didn't. Swoon that is.

In my eyes, that scene devalued Amo's personal passion and ambition rather than showed the extent of his insta feelings for Greta. Him rejecting the dream of his whole life in exchange for her hand in marriage (the woman he barely even knew at that point 💀) didn't feel like one of the hardest choices he had ever made or some sort of colossal sacrifice it factually was. Greta's reaction of his proposal, on the other hand, was way more reasonable and understandable. Thank god she rejected his ass

❥The more subjective part comes down to the fact that the nice choir boy vibe oozing out of Amo is certainly not the vibe I seek for in a mafia romance.
Instead of Luca/Remo fierce capo energy I had been anticipating, I got an extremely respectful, nice boy who would lick Greta's pussy neglecting his capo duties all day long if she only let him. On a light note, please... can I? may I?? suggest that he... maybe...mayhap... perhaps... find another... hobby? 👉🏻🥺👈🏻✨

I wish Amo showed more violence and aggression in his dealings with the other characters to make up for his lack of intensity when it came to his relationship with Greta.

He was just so maddeningly... respectful to Greta all the fucking time. 😔 I mean it was sort of cute... — and no, I didn't just say that in order to not sound like a weirdo who hates on respectful gentlemen in nice suits 🤡🤞🏻that I totally am, but it also overshadowed the whole other spectrum of his feelings for her, tainted any intense emotion or shadowy motive he might have harbored for her. 🤡 It reached the point where calling his nominally obsessive behavior as "obsession" didn't feel right any more since the term requires some sort of unhinged and intense edge to it.

Okay, actually, I concede. If I dated Remo's daughter I'd probably make sure to triple the level of respectfulness I'm capable of on my best days too.

❥On another note, my personal preference when it comes to 'boy obsessed' trope is that the hero doesn't embrace his "obsession" from the very moment he sees the heroine, that he fights and eventually loses the battle against his feelings. It's super fun to watch when a hero tries to distract himself only to slowly and inevitably sink back into the obsessive whirlwind of thoughts about ✨her✨. When he can barely control and restrain himself from doing the wrong thing. 😍

Overeager men give me nothing...like... why aren't they pissed as fuck about being so obsessed? Shouldn't they loathe and despise the kind of power that their heroines hold over them at first to sweeten the ultimate descent into obsessive oblivion? Willing men are such a killjoy if you ask me. 😔

Greta (h)

I loved the contrast between the mechanical way in which she formed her thoughts into words and the cuteness of the objects of her constant worries. Her POV sounded so robotic 🤖🤖🤖 (Nino say hello) when she would only think about her family, Amo and the safety of animals.💕

Greta setting an animal abuser on fire, in the literal sense of the word, will never be not iconic. I liked her. 😌

Insta-love

I know that considering the circumstances of the Montecchi Vitiello and The Capuleti Falcone relationship it would be hard to write Amo×Greta relationship as anything, but the dreaded insta-love at first sight and till the last nail on their shared coffin type of story, but I still had a hard time swallowing the fact that they professed love for each other after a few shared conversations. 🤡 I can't say that I hated insta-love here, it was nicely done — with growing familiarity, blossom of feelings and cute moments together. Yet, I feel like their relationship still lacked something that would make me be entirely sold on the idea of them together. I wish it were more of 'insta-lust gradually transforming into love' kind of relationship.

Smut

The smut in this book was a crime against humanity and I'd like a report it to the UN. 🔪🔪🔪

The descriptions of Greta's glistening folds, lips, clit and what not made me feel uncomfortable and eventually they became so overabundant, taking over each and every sex scene, that at some point I might have thought that I know and can navigate Greta's vagina way better than my own. 💀

Amo licking her pussy nonstop had me dying inside a little, there's only so much pussy licking a girl can take, ok? 😭

I kid you not, 98% of the smut time was dedicated to this particular activity. I get it. I see that he's not only pussy whipped, but also pussy glued too. *Sigh*. I was so tired of reading about Amo polishing Greta's genitals. 💀💀💀

Maybe the repetitiveness of Amo going down on Greta or simply the awkward and mechanical way it was described, but sex scenes lacked any kind of spontaneous passion. Remember me saying that Amo's extreme respectfullness overshadowed any other feelings for Greta? That is the case with their sex scenes too.

1) He leaned down and I held my breath as he parted his lips and lightly nudged my clit with the tip of his tongue.
2) He opened his eyes but kept lavishing my clit with the softest circles.
3) I circled her clit with my tongue then stroked along her slit, back and forth, teasing more lust out of her.
4) The word morphed into a moan when I sucked her clit into my mouth. Greta opened her legs wide, her feet in her ballet shoes pointed as if she were about to dance.
5) I closed my lips around her clit as her pussy pulsated against me, her arousal dripping down on the floor.
6) She came in my mouth, her little clit pulsing against my lip, her juices dripping on my tongue.
7) She leaned against the rail, holding onto my head, and her lips parted in a soft moan when my tongue dove between her folds to get my very first taste of the day.

I'm afraid to count down the number of times that he went down on her and it was described in lash detail. SEND HELP. 💀

Could he just fuck her fast and hard once?

Political correctness be damned sjsjsjsjs

I can't escape 🔪🔪🔪

❥After a recent scandal with A Touch of Fate , I'm fairly positive that Cora freaked out and hired sensitivity readers. Damn. 🤡
Some passages of this book sound as if someone held Cora at gunpoint and physically forced all of that extremely sensitive, politically correct bullshit on her ass. 🌚 Most likely, her sensitivity/alpha readers.

As someone who has read almost of her books, I can tell that Cora Reilly is nowhere near self-aware enough to be writing any of that mentally healthy nonsense. 🤣🤣🤣 I wished it stayed that way. 🤡
My mind drifted back to Amo and the warmth in my body intensified. I stared at my reflection in the mirror above the sink. I had never wondered what other people thought of my body, but I did now, wondering what Amo had seen when he’d looked at me. Why? Why did I care? I liked my body. Amo’s thoughts about it shouldn’t matter.

It really meddles with the flow of the story when a character justifies and overexplains their thoughts/actions. Not to mention that passages like this lack any decorum or subtlety. It reads like a direct message to a reader: "I just said something that might come across as problematic, but I'm actually not. I know all about body positivity and women's rights. I don't need male approval to feel good about myself. Please don't cancel me", when it's just supposed to be Greta's inner thoughts. It's tedious to read about a character that tries to justify and explain their every action/thought so that god forbid not a single reader misunderstands (wishful thinking) or calls them out on being problematic. But the thing is... there will always be readers who'll find problematic behavior in Jesus Christ himself.

The fact that dumb some readers can't grasp the idea that "problematic" characters and their "problematic" behavior don't necessarily reflect the author's mentality and view on things is not an author's problem. I think everyone who doesn't live in imaginary twitter world of political correctness knows that we can explore things in fiction without feeling like we "hurt", "harmed" or murdered someone. 🙄 Especially when it comes to a mafia romance in particular and the dark genre in general.

“I know this is hypocritical of me, and definitely an asshole thing to say, but I can’t share you, Greta. If we keep this up, I need you to be mine only. I don’t want you near any other men.”
Greta looked up and shrugged. “It seems like a one-sided deal, definitely a bit hypocritical, yes.”

Look. Hear me out, okay? 👀 Cora has been writing hypocritical, sexist characters without exhibiting any signs of showing acknowledgement that they are, indeed, hypocritical and sexist for years. More importantly, we've been eating that shit up (because it's fun) with large spoons, ok?

A mafia man that acknowledges that he's an archaic little sexist is bearable. But when he's also apologetic about it? WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT? A guy gotta own his shit, especially if he's a fucking Vitiello. Otherwise he just sounds like a pathetic, moping beta man Maddox.

Amo purportedly kills men on a regular basis, right? He can allow himself to be possessive without feeling too self-conscious about it. 🤦🏼‍♀️

OW DRAMA

If you hate OW drama and you're still here, reading this #1000 book in the interconnected series only to complain about how much you hate cheating, then I have only one thing to say: it's time to move on, guys, because this gives ✨stage 5 clinger✨.

Anyone who has read more than 2 books by Cora and have a few functioning brain cells should have learned by now that she loves her manwhore heroes and OW drama. Sometimes she pulls it off well sometimes she doesn't, but it's a fact. That's what gets her going.

People demanding that she stops writing about manwhore heroes never fail to crack me up. 💀 The entitlement to demand. 🤌🏻 The delusion to believe that she gives af. 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Amo being stupid enough to take some gold-digging bitch' virginity and then being forced to marry her? That was dumb, but I enjoyed the drama. 🤡 Him fucking the said bitch "out of duty"? Cora remains true to herself. 🤡 Him cheating on his wife with Greta?? 🤡🤡🤡

I don't consider cheating as cheating when the hero cheats on the other woman with the heroine. 🤡🤡🤡 FUCKING SUE ME.

That being said, I'd have preferred Amo to have angry sex with Greta rather than with his wife sjsjsjsjsj. 🤡🤡 That one sentence that referred to Amo having 'angry sex' with his wife sounded way more passionate than him spending hours patiently tasting and lapping at Greta's pussy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

ANGST

❥I ABSOLUTELY LOVED WHEN GRETA SAID "I HATE YOU" TO REMO. Heartbreaking material, Shakespearian level of tragedy. 😭🤡 No other scene came as close to being that good, not even when Nevio, Amo and Greta were being badly injured and hospitalised. 😌

SERAFI-SURROGATE MOTHER

I know many of you will eat that shit up and find the ending too cute and wholesome for this world, but damn... let's just say I was creeped the fuck out. 💀

(Even the idea that my mom will carry my and my husband's child inside her womb makes me shudder. Not gonna lie, it it is sending me straight into Earth orbit... just as much as Cora trying to be politically correct and feminist. 💀🤡)

🔪🔪 Marcella×Lapdog 🔪🔪

Happy to see that Marcella is still an annoying bitch in heat and Maddox is still her loyal lapdog. Love the stability: 🤡🤡🤡
“And I love you,” Maddox reminded her. She rolled her eyes, but smiled to soften the blow.

On a serious note, guys..
WHAT'S THIS? I HATE THIS COUPLE SO MUCH, I WANT THEIR BLOOD ON MY HANDS SJSJJSJSJSJSJSJSJS

I MIGHT BE HAVING A MENTAL BREAKDOWN AS WE SPEAK BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH THIS QUOTE MIGHT HAVE MADE ME LAUGH BEGRUDGINGLY IT ALSO MADE ME EXPERIENCE FUCKING BLOODLUST. 😭😂😭😂😭

The crumbs of Marcella and Maddox that we got in this book MADE ME LOATHE THEM EVEN MORE THAN I ALREADY DID. And I thought that was not possible. Maddox has really turned into Marcella's LAPDOG, why is everyone treating him like a domesticated animal? SEND HELP, IS MARCELLA A FURRY 🙂🙂🙂 —

WITH ALL OF THAT USELESS SHIT BEING SAID,

I have no qualms about repeating that I loved Amo×Greta as a couple, they were still so adorable and cute together. 🥰 Thank god they didn't have secondary characters energy. ✨

Getting bits and pieces of the Capuleti Falcone and Montecchi Vitiello families gave me a warm nostalgic feeling I still can't shake off. Maybe it's time to reread the Camorra Chronicles and Born in Blood series. 🥰

"My feelings for Amo? They had the potential to leave behind wreckage."

So, I have trying to gather my thoughts after finishing the book. And it's complicated when all I want is to go back and reread my favorite scenes over and over again.

So, plot-wise it's definitely my favorite of this series. The tropes, the flow and the writing makes it work. There's angst, laugh, mafia violent scenes, conflicts, lies and secrets. It gave me old-Cora vibes.

“I regret every moment I’m not with you.”

Amo is everything I was expecting. He is not only a puppy in love. He stands his ground, he faces off two strong Capos and tries to give his best for Greta. Sometimes right, sometimes wrong, his feelings for her are not only strong but they also feed him to be someone, his own person.

As for Greta.. everyone is expecting someone shy and timid and I honestly love her. She not only is a strong woman who makes mistakes but she's also a very straightforward character, she tries to have her feet in the ground and go for reality rather than fantasies. She is very different from all female characters and thank god for that. I love her connection to Remo and Serafina.

Together, they face off so many obstacles but the root of all of it is how loyal they are to their families. How protective they are.

I love love love the secondary characters. Maximus is literally the best friend Amo can have. I had a good laugh with Valerio, this boy is so funny in a very Fabiano-Matteo way. Alessio and Massimo are very messy but I would've been lying if I say I don't love them. The book is good to visit some other characters from previous books, their little appearances were satisfactory.

"Our word is law and they either bow or die.”

I think that what I loved the most was how we finally got to see Luca and Remo as the Capos they were always meant to be. Someone who don't let themselves be influenced and don't bend. Oh yeah, many times I wanted to beat someone to a pulp but then I remembered that this is how they are supposed to be. They are both born Leaders. Remo Falcone, how far you have come, my love. How mature you are while still being a crazy mofo.

Nevio Falcone. This boy! It's the way he's messy and dislikes everyone but when he loves or cares, he does fervently, too intense, sometimes can be too much. His connection with Greta? The best. His love for her? The best. Yes, sometimes it can be toxic due to his nature and sometimes he can be hurtful but all that matters is how he will always forever stand with his sister. His dynamic with Amo is also intense but Nevio isn't a dumb guy. He's just impulsive. I really really hope his book is next. I need, desperately, to be inside his head.

And I cannot finish this talk about the characters without mentioning Serafina. The best female character by Cora. Her support, selfless love for her kids is inspiring. I'm so grateful to see her more as mom and as friend to her daughter. She's a little star and her and Greta deliver that mom-daughter duo dynamic I have been missing in the past releases.

This book has so many memorable scenes and quotes. Overall, it's a solid book. Probably the best since Twisted Pride with all the elements. Maybe this book won't be for everyone, maybe the tropes or decisions will hurt but at the end of the day, it's an experience to be lived and I'm happy that Amo & Greta, this series cutie pies, have found their happy ending.

And sorry for my lack of depth, I'm still trying to calm myself down after reading it.

4-5 VITIELLO AND FALCONE STARS!

"You are mine until I take my last breath. I love you more than everything else in the world"

Okay, let me start by saying that I might a little bias bc I love the Vitiellos and Falcones. yeah, I said it. also, I was very scared for this book and I was mentally preparing myself for the worse (tbh) because I was worried about the triggers. Listen, I ended up liking it and even loving it more than I thought. There was so much going on but I loved it. & if you know me you know how much I wanted this book and finally we have it, I waited three years!! Now, I can only hope she decides to write another book for them or give us more crumbs bc I felt that the epilogue was way too short.

To start off with, I'm so happy to have a Camaro and Famiglia book again. It was so good to be back and AmoGreta, uff. I loved their interactions, and actually didn't mind the insta-love, I believed that they were meant to be since day one. Their first interaction was so fast and yet so short, I loved it. You could tell Greta was really comfortable with Amo since day one. I loved that Amo was willing to risk it all from the beginning. & front the beginning the tension between the families. I liked that Cora kept it real, even at the end. I loved seeing how it progressed of their relationship. Amo really fell had and I was happy about that bc he really didnt shy away and like I said was willing to risk it all for her just from one meeting. I cried and I laughed so much. If you have been waiting for this book, just read it.

*Fav moments/thoughts and possible spoilers*

- Every AmoGreta moment tbh. I felt that the epilogue was too short but I loved it. Short bc we don't get to see them as parents and I would have loved that.
- Being back in the Falcones mansion, please I missed them and they really reminded me of why they are one of my fav fam.
- Luca & Amo, I loved them but at some point I was a little mad (just a little mad bc I can never really be mad at him) at Luca bc it felt that he really pushed Amo to marry. But I'm so happy he had his back in the end.
- Greta in NYC, pls I loved that she had dinner with the Vitiellos, and that she met Cara and Grown and their kids. The fact that she calls him "uncle"
- Maximus and Amo's friendship, pls I need Maximus and Sara. In my head they go on double dates in nyc.
- Remo and Luca as in-laws, I fucking loved when greta mentions "dad would meet Luca for their first meeting as future in-laws" okay, but I need scenes!
- NEVIO, Omg he's Falcone through and through. honestly, I loved the animosity between Amo & Nevio, but I hurt in the knives scene. Amo and Nevio as capos, uhhhh
- SERAFINA FALCONE, I want to tattoo my face with her name, she's a queen.
- Aurora & Nevio- im really intrigued, like toward the end the little hints we get!! I'm like oh- tell me more greta about your brother and Rory!
- ISABELLA & ALESSIO- listen i shipped Isa with Nevio in 2020 before Aurora/nevio were confirmed (sorry not sorry but I was feeling Isa/nevio), but obvs that's not happening. so ive been shipping Isa with someone from the Camorra and honestly Isa and Alessio might (will probably) happen. I'm almost sure or it's wishful thinking. I wanted isa and Massimo but they are second cousins, I know. ANYWAYS, POINT IS I LOVE ISABELLA SO FREAKING MUCH
- The little mentions of the rest of the characters! I loved Matteo, pls and even Casio getting a line appearance.
- One last thing, can we have a scene of Aurora in NYC w/ her aunts and cousins? I want her to be friends with Isa and Sara
I WANT A FALCONE AND VITIELLO CHRISTMAS SCENE, THANK YOU AND PLEASE.

3 STARS

I just randomly selected this book and dived into it without any expectations or anything, and guess what? It was okay. Yeah, it was good, or okay, I suppose. I knew this series featured the kids of the capos, but I was never a fan of Luca to begin with. Still, here I am. OH BTW, TEAM NEVIO ALL THE WAY 🙌🏻👐🏻

She was a woman who deserved to be someone’s number one, their one and only queen.

This book has insta-love. It's all about that. Greta and Amo fell in love after meeting just twice, and it was love at first sight for both of them because he found her attractive, and she felt her body tingling for the first time- 🥱 yeah. But the problem is that their families are enemies, and there's barely a truce between them. Remo would never allow Greta to marry Amo. On top of that, Amo is already bound to marry Cressida, whom he had sex with and took her virginity because she insulted his Marcella. Now he has to marry her, or the famiglia will have a war among themselves.

GRETA FALCONE :

Now, to be really honest, I didn't have any expectations from Greta. I don't even know what to say about her because she was JUST GRETA 💀🤷🏻‍♀️, you know? She was nice and kind, with a personality that had a mix of Nino's observant nature and Kiara's gentleness. Her life mostly revolved around her dogs and ballet. Besides being kind, she didn't have much of a distinct personality. She was anxious around new people, but felt a connection with Amo! 👀

AMO VITIELLO :

Amo's whole character was all about disappointing Luca. 🤣 I can't even begin to count the number of times Luca was left utterly disappointed, it's just laughable lmao. His character was more about telling than showing. His POVs consisted of him constantly calling himself a monster and a bad man, hoohaaaahha 👺. Every time he'd be like, "Oh, I'm like this" or "I'm like that," but there was absolutely no substance to back it up. He lacked decision-making skills and is most likely to be the most stupidest capo ever. He goes to meet her or ask for her hand in marriage without an actual plan or anything! I swear, if it wasn't for Greta, he'd probably be six feet under by now. 💀

something's wrong:
But guess what? I still somehow managed to enjoy it. I don't know what the actual fuck is wrong with me. Now I find myself skimming through some chapters towards the end, and I even skimmed through their oh-so-exciting sex scenes, lmao. To be honest, they were just mediocre and boring, and I couldn't care less about any of that! What I was really interested in was how they would miraculously get married and how Amo would miraculously get rid of Cressida. I mean, that's the exciting shit! 🤡

🤩 NEVIO FALCONE 🤩

Oh boy, YES! YES! Let me tell you, this man is such a fine specimen! 🥵😳 I just knew I wouldn't be disappointed with Remo's son hakwhsja 😩. Let me tell you, he's the most unhinged character you'll ever find in Cora's book. He's so twisted, sarcastic, and dark, it's almost unreal. The way he's super unhinged but furiously loves his family. I simply cannot contain my excitement for his story with Aurora - who, by the way, seems like such a cutie. Their interactions had me giddy, especially when she wished him a happy birthday & was on verge of a breakdown because she always act dumb when he's near! 🤭

"Surprise, motherfuckers,”

Oh. My. Sweet. Baby. I can't even... THIS SCENE, I CAN'T! 🫠🥵😭🥺✨😖😩 It was like a fucking masterpiece, I'm telling you. HANDS DOWN, the highlight of this entire book. No, scratch that, it's the best scene I have ever read in my entire existence! I mean, seriously, I was jumping all over the damn house after reading it. THAT'S how good it was!
I was super pissed at Luca for starting that gunfight while Remo and the others were in his territory for Amo's wedding. Obviously, they would have lost, but oh my gosh, let me tell you, the moment Nevio made his grand entrance with a knife at Gianna's throat, and with Massimo and Alessio right there, with a knife at Isabella's throat too, I swear my heart skipped a beat. 😭 It was like Pure perfection, I tell you. Matteo Immediately stopped everything because his wife and daughter were at risk now, HAJAHSGAGA BUT REMO AND NEVIO HAD OTHER PLANS FOR THEM ALL, hehe until Greta jumped into the lake. 😸
I SWEAAARRRRR REMO WAS SUPER PROUD OF NEVIO AT THAT MOMENT lmao unlike Luca. Pls I'm telling you NEVIO>>>>>>>>> every other Cora's men. 🥵 🥹I CAN NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS SCENE.

Nevio made his father look like a fucking choir boy.

To sum this up:

AMO: ImMa VeRy BaD mAn. 👁🫦👁
Greta: I gReW uP aMoNg BaD mEn, I'm A mOnStEr ToO hAhAhahaha💀👺👻

also, can't wait for AlessioxIsabella and MaximusxSara! 🤩

BAIA
BAIA…

ᴇᴀʀʟʏ ʀᴇʟᴇᴀsᴇ - ɪᴛ's ʟɪᴠᴇ ᴏɴ ᴀᴍᴀᴢᴏɴ!

🖤 Greta & Amo 🖤

★★★★★
Five Fateful Stars

description

"I like being a Falcone."
"I'd prefer you to be a Vitiello."

By Fate I Conquer is the ultimate forbidden mafia love novel. If you've read their fathers books - Bound by Honor, Twisted Pride - then you would get how star crossed these lovers really are. It was said a few times in different colorful ways that Remo would rather burn down New York City than give his daughter to the Famiglia.

description

"I was only a young girl, dressed in my favorite tutu, when I came to the realization that the men in my family were like monsters in the scary movies that Nevio loved to watch.
And a piece of my heart broke."

I fell in love with these characters. From their first interaction to the bitter end of the book, I enjoyed their love story unfolding. Seeing the Famiglia and the Camorra intertwine was tense and also amazing at the same time. The world building of these mafia families that Cora has created has been the best to date that I have read.

As always, I cannot wait to read more from Cora Reilly.

Rambling thoughts on this masterpiece 🫠

The good :
[1] the falcones tidbits and my baby remo as a father. 🫣

[2] Greta ,the sweetest thing alive ,she deserves the world

[3] serafina as a mom is the STANDARD

[4] Sara and Massimo 😊 and Isa and Alessio 😚

Now the bad :

[1] insta love omg , like why cora 🤧, where's the conflicting feelings  ,the doubt ,the longing , the denial. Just wasted angst potential 😔

[2] amo the hoe and his side chick of a wife. At least I'm grateful that we didn't get the amo from Marcella's book, or I would have committed murder 🥸

[3] the Familia drama, that bitch is so toxic ,like now I know she's the problem,  first the outfit war now the camorra, they are chaotic and just plain dumb stupid, give me an outfit/camorra war any day over this. I could be biased cause I hate Luca more after  each book, and he's  my bestie favorite 🤣 but she always chooses the toxiest guys 😏 (me fan girling about Remo every second of this book 🤡🤡)

[4] nevio was so annoying , I'm  dreading reading his book. I didn't find him at all intriguing. He reminds me of Nicolai from legacy of Gods by rina kent. Violence is his whole personality, and I like my men a little complex, u know ( he's a mini Remo, but no one is better than the original 🤡)

So I'm just trying to say that I need a reread of Remo book and so far this is the best sin of fathers book until now , even if the whole second generation books are a bit disappointing. Also, poor Aurora no one is envying her now 😭

Preread review:
Me and cora are over.
Me again reading her books, knowing I will be mad ,sad 😩

A long time ago:
I'm ready to sell my soul to have this one .

Luca i Remo to czasem takie debile względem swoich dzieci.
Ale czekałam na każdy moment interakcji między tymi dwoma rodzinami.
Było krwawo, brutalnie, hot, słodko, czasami nawet zabawnie.
Teraz czekam na książkę Nevio! 🔥

5 stars ⭐️

It had been awhile I really loved reading a book by Cora.

For a long time I was anxious about the outcome of the novel, since it was my most anticipated one from the second generation. And I was relieved that I ended up relishing every minute of it!

Amo definitely has, compared to other mafia men, normal and welcoming mindset about love. Amo's actions and words show how much he admires his parents loving relationship. Luca's treatment of Aria has clearly left a positive impact on Amo, and he inspires to have the same in his marriage.

Every scene of Amo and Greta spending time together is emotional and adorable. And with Greta- a girl who is beyond kind, delicate with her intentions yet direct when needed to be, this love story couldn't have been more heartfelt.

As always with Famorra combo, prepare for a ride filled with action, angst, drama and laughter.

(Sending especially my love to Serafina, she fills her role as a mother with such a golden heart).

* BETA READ*

OMG..Cora ReIlly just killed me with the perfection that was By Fate I Conquer (BFIC). I am OBSESSED with Amo, Greta, Luca and Remo. This story had angst, drama, loyalty and so much heart. I loved this story so so much!

What I liked more than anything was the immense character growth all of Reilly's characters portrayed throughout the story. I loved seeing Remo and his Camorra family along with Luca and the Famiglia.

Overall, this story was beyond exceptional and has proved without a shadow of a doubt that Reilly is a true powerhouse in the Dark Mafia genre. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️

Things I am expecting:-
1. MAIN Focus on Amo and Greta Please!!!!
2. I want side characters, all of them EQUALLY, Remo,Nino,Savio,Adamo,kiara,Nevio....etc etc.... EQUALLY. I REPEAT E-Q-U-A-L-L-Y!!!!
3. I know Nevio will be there and so will Remo but they should have Less attention than the MAIN CHARACTERS(not like you did in Twisted Cravings, it felt like Adamo who is the HERO was in background and Remo in front!!!) I DON'T WANT THAT!!!!
4. KIARA needs to plan their wedding. I mean PLEASE. I Felt so bad when she couldn't plan the wedding of Adamo!!
I mean look at this⬇️⬇️⬇️🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Kiara smiled hopefully. “Can we be there?”
Nino touched her shoulder.

Even NINO couldn't do anything about it 😭😭😭 And BELIEVE ME Nino is the type who will bring the damn Moon if kiara asks for it!!!PERIOD.

"You are a queen in my eyes. My shadow queen."[...]"I'm gladly your shadow queen. I don't need the light"

After I finished the book I had no idea what to rate it. It was such a rollercoaster. I debated giving this book 4 stars. It wasn't perfect but I'll give it 5 stars. (I might have gotten a bit carried away but I did enjoy it and I do think it was so much better than Cora's latest mafia releases)

I guess we all had our own theories on how this story could've unfolded, this was one of the most anticipated books, the son and daughter of beloved couples together. Overall, Cora did well with this one, this is her strongest release in a while. She had me scared a few times I guess the story could've gone a thousand different ways.

This book had a lot of drama but also a lot of funny moments, mostly thanks to Matteo, Valerio, and Nevio.

Maximus stole the show, he is such an interesting character, and can't wait to read his story with Sara, the book kept us in the dark about it. How did they come to marry? Why were Romero and Maximus seeking revenge on the Russians in something that seemed related to Sara? Why is their marriage not going well?

Also, are Alessio and Isa happening? Because I think there was some foreshadowing in this book.

Nevio was also another character that totally stole the show. We also get a glimpse of NevioxAurora. Nevio usually playing dolls with her was so cute. I want to read their book because childhood friends to lovers are one of my favorite tropes

I wish Cora had given Kiara and Nino a daughter, everybody had more children in this book except them. Did Serafina and Remo really need another kid? They are the most unhealthy couple in this world. Anyone else weirded out that Greta called Kiara by her name, not aunt or aunt Kiara? I will never understand.

Why does everybody seem to know about Luca faking the bloody sheets on his wedding night with Aria? I didn't like that. It was a sweet moment between them and now every character was cracking jokes about it like it's sooo funny. I think that's something that should've stayed with them (and Matteo and Gianna as they already knew).

Hidden Amo quote: DAMN haha

Cora has lost her mind. The treasured daughter of a fan favorite character is made to be THE OTHER WOMAN? Her one true love is married?

Amo is so desperate to be with Greta he has oral sex with another woman in public? Really? All throughout Cora’s books we’re told how powerful Luca is. How big and intimidating Amo is. How everyone bows to them. But that’s how Amo chooses to solve his problems? He found his one true love and his only option is to be disloyal and a pig to get out of his engagement? It’s pathetic.

Cora desperately needs beta readers and/or a reality check. Disgusting and disappointing. SOTF has been one disappointment after another and I’m done.

“Our love had burned stronger than any enmity.”

An ARC was provided by the author and her team in exchange for an honest review.

It feels like I spent an eternity waiting for this book to come out, and I can barely believe that Amogreta are already here. Reading By Fate I Conquer was such an experience and an honor, and definitely an emotional ride with so many parts that left me with all kinds of feelings—heartbroken, happy, sad, worried and more—that I want to repeat even though I’d just finished it.
In terms of the plot, it’s definitely my favorite of the series by now. The tropes combined, plus the writing of all cute, angst, funny, steamy, tense, and violent scenes gave this book a wonderful pace to follow, that made me not be able to put it down once I had started it.

“Every part of me that matters, my soul, my heart, my love, is yours. It’ll always be yours.”

The book tells the story of two souls that are meant to, but can never be—Amo Vitiello, the future Capo of the New York’s Famiglia, and Greta Falcone, the protected princess of the Camorra in Las Vegas. Since their first meeting, it gets obvious that something should happen between them, that it had only happened to seal their fates, but for as much as it’s obvious, it’s also clear that they’ve been condemned from even before the first moment.
Greta is and will always be my sweet and adorable little girl. She’s been my favorite book kid since forever, and I was very excited to get to know her better and properly. Though I was already expecting to love her, she still surprised me and made me fall even harder than I predicted. She’s the shy and timid girl I was expecting, yes, but she’s so much more. She’s unique, a woman that is very loyal and super strong in her own way—a way that some people may not understand, but that is very noticeable as you read the story. She’s also a character that goes and fights for what she wants, that is so reasonable, always attached to reality, and that is someone who cares so much about people she loves. And I need to say that I absolutely loved her relationship with her family—especially with Remo, Serafina and, of course, Nevio.
And Amo, that man was a surprise for me. Of course I expected to love him (he's a Vitiello, and Luca and Aria’s son after all), but I guess just not as much as I did. I love his personality, his loyalty, his protectiveness and sense of duty, and most of all I love how caring he is, how he’s not afraid of feeling. He may not always act in the best way possible, but he knows what he wants, and I love that he also fights for his own convictions (and feelings).
Their relationship/story had a cute, but hard tumultuous beginning; easy, but hard development at the same time. Their feelings have felt so real, pure and beautiful from the first moment, and seeing how it progressed until a point in which they couldn't even try to hide it anymore was a beautiful and emotional journey.
Now, speaking of the secondary characters. Maximus was such a surprise for me—I loved him and his humor, and he's definitely the best friend Amo could have. Aurora, she’s so sweet, and she alone made me laugh and giggle a lot—and I wish I could protect her from what I know is coming for her. Valerio, he’s such a mix of old-Fabi and Matteo that gave me some good moments of laughter. And Alessio and Massimo, they’re as messy as expected, but I love both and can’t wait to see more of them. And as for the characters from the previous books, their appearances in this one were all great, and I feel like it's always a pleasure to revisit them.
And Nevio. Boy, oh boy. I feel like he deserves to have a full paragraph dedicated to him. He’s as crazy as expected. He’s impulsive, hot-tempered and mad, he also hates every person who’s not part of his family…but, when it comes to Greta? The love he feels for her (and that she feels for him) is pure and beautiful, just like the connection they have. She gets the best of him (even his soft side), and though their relationship can be felt as bit of “toxic” sometimes because of how much one feels supported by the another, it is actually the most precious thing there is in this book, and I loved every single moment that we were gifted with glimpses of it.

“Our word is law and they either bow or die.”

One more thing I loved seeing was Remo and Luca as the Capos they are. Seeing them and the leaders they were born to be—never bending or letting themselves be influenced by anything, always taking decisions based on their convictions and following them to death. Also, seeing how far they've come, how much they matured since their own books, was so so great.
Before finishing, I also have to talk about Serafina. She’s not only my favorite, but the best female character Cora wrote from the first generation, and her selfless love and kindness is truly something else. I loved seeing her relationship with her kids, especially Greta—I loved their mom-daughter moments and dynamic, and how she’d do and even sacrifice everything just to see her daughter as happy as she deserves to be.
And only not to let it unmentioned, the small interactions between Nevio and Aurora, plus the mentions to them in the last few chapters left me giggling, almost crying, and even more excited to finally meet them and their story. Also, I’m so curious and excited to get to know the one new confirmed couple better—from the little Cora had presented to us in this book, I already feel I’m gonna like them very much.
So, summarizing, this book has amazing quotes and scenes, great characters and a great plot. Overall, it's a great book, very consistent—probably the best and most solid since Twisted Pride and Sweet Temptation—and it definitely met all my expectations and more. It also gave me some old Cora vibes, so if you ever liked one of her books, you should definitely give Amo and Greta a chance, because there’s a big chance of you loving them!

" I was already thinking about the moment he’d leave. It wasn’t a matter of if, it was a matter of when. "

It was three years of waiting, but the long awaited book by Amo Vitiello and Greta Falcone finally arrived and I can say that this book was a roller coaster of emotions between tense, fun and passionate moments. I can only say that Amo and Greta stole my heart. The chemistry between them is incredible, all the interactions, glances and thoughts are so beautiful, and in my opinion they are one of the best couples written by Cora in recent years.

Let's start with the positives of the book:
Our protagonists. I loved Amo's personality, despite his immaturity and several bad choices, I found him to be a wonderful character and his instant adoration and crush on Greta was truly one of the highlights of the book. Greta was a pleasant surprise, she has a good heart, kind and sweet. She is a lot like Nino but in a different way.
While we're talking about our main couple, I have to share that their first interaction is perfect, definitely my favorite part of the book.

A sure point of this book were the secondary characters and their interactions with the main couple, something I missed in BVIF. I must highlight Greta's relationship with Nevio, which is so full of love and complicity, but also her relationship with Uncle Nino, it was so nice to read Greta questioning him about love.
Amo and Maximus' friendship is incredible, although Growl and Cara's eldest son appears less than I would have liked.
I could not fail to mention the youngest of the Vitiellos, Valério, he is a very funny and vain teenager and I can't wait to see him in the future.

It was so good to see old characters like the Falcone clan and Marcella , but also to meet new ones, and speaking of new characters I suggest you keep an eye on Alessio and Nevio Falcone these guys deserve your attention.

Here we also have a chapter narrated by: Aria, Luca, Remo and Serafina and it was wonderful to see a little of the story from their point of view.

As with all of Cora's books this one paves the way to the future and we have hooks for Nevio and Aurora who is a sweet girl and Maximus and her love interest who will come as a surprise to some and not so much to others, I can't wait to read the story of these couples soon.

But since not everything can be positive, now let's talk about the book's negative points:
The pacing of the book was an issue for me, it's too long and I think it could have been a bit shorter. It has a very promising beginning that flows a lot, but halfway through the book, I found the pace to be slower and dragged, not that this made the story bad, it just got a little tiring to read at once. Also, there were moments that had a lot of information at the same time and I think that the story in that respect should have gone more slowly, but also, there were some things that deserved more attention and didn't.
Overall, I enjoyed By Fate I Conquer, I thought it was a layered book, however, I can't say if the story will meet your expectations, I believe it will be a mixed bag of opinions. But don't stop reading and have your own conclusion of the story and love this beautiful couple that is Amo and Greta.

By Fate I Conquer is the fourth book in the Sins of the Father's series by Cora Reilly.

"It felt like a blink and eternity at the same time, and I knew I never wanted it to end."

Amo Vitiello and Greta Falcone is a highly anticipated couple for me since Cora announced their pairing a few years ago, and I am still in awe that they are finally here. I never wanted it to end. I normally am a fast reader, but I had to take breaks and slow down because wow this couple. It is hard to put them into words. This is exactly what I needed from Amo and Greta. Cora put into a beautiful story exactly what I didn't even know I needed.

"How could love be this destructive?"

Amo was everything. He was unapologetic and head-strong. He accepted his feelings and owned it. I loved that he made decisions and accepted the consequences of those decisions. He gave plausible reasons on why he made certain decisions and it made me appreciate him even more. My favorite part is the influence his parent's relationship has on him. It shows so much that Luca and Aria raised their children with love and it flowed in the entire book. Amo felt so real because of the way he handled every situation that came his way. His reactions were very humanly, but he still kept being so strong as a future Capo should.

"Why do you make me feel like myself and at the same time like someone new."

Greta is literally so beautiful inside and out. I thought I knew her a little bit from what Cora has been hinting to us, but she is so much more evolved and all-around character. She has definitely a favorite. She is different from all the other female characters in all the series and so unapologetically so. Her connection to the entire Falcone clan is so admirable and strong. The family dynamic is always such a pleasure to experience.

"The Falcones would have never let her go and even if I'd ripped her away, Greta would always have belonged to them."

Amo and Greta showed us plenty of angst, drama, loyalty, friendship, enemies, romance, forbidden love, star-crossed lovers, family, mafia, and friendship. This was a roller coaster of emotions that gripped me in my heart and soul. Every interaction between Amo and Greta had me on a choke hold. It literally was so emotional and gripping. This was beyond heart stopping. You can really tell Cora poured her heart into Amo and Greta.

"At the same time I loathed the idea of her dancing for anyone but me."

The secondary characters was such a highlight. I absolutely love the sibling relationship between Nevio and Greta. I won't say much, but Nevio? I am so ready!! He is such a colorful character and I am here for it. Marci and Amo is full of love and they know each other so well. I loved it. The friendship between Amo and Maximus was amazing to experience. The unholy trinity was also so fun. That is something I look forward to in the future books.

"I'd never felt so incapable of controlling myself."

The entire Falcone clan was exciting to see, but one of my favorite moments were of Nino and Greta's interaction. This was something I wanted, but didn't know how I would've liked it. Cora nailed it. Of course, Remo and Serafina was such a delight to see. Remo was exactly how I needed to see him. He is Capo and I expected him to stay strong with his decisions for the Camorra, and I loved seeing him make decisions for his family too. Serafina stole the show in the Falcones family to me. She really showed us her growth and how far she has come. The advice she gave, the help she provided, and the decisions she made was all admirable.

"This girl was out of this world."

The Vitiello's were so fun to have. I was surprised to see who Maximus's lover was in the book, but I am so excited to see the snippet that I did. Valerio is a new favorite! He is so fun and lovely. I can't wait to see more of him. I was happy to see Aria to stay the way she was and always so protective of her family. Like Remo, I was excited to see Luca make decisions for the Famiglia and his family and standing by it.

"I like how you make me feel."

There were plenty of secondary characters that was such a delight to see and I loved every single interaction. There were more, but I don't want to spoil anything. Overall, the bonds between the families were heartwarming and heartbreaking at times.

"I've never wanted anything more in my life."

I actually appreciated the pace of the book. I liked the time line of which every thing that happened. I feel that there were development and ample of time to experience the things that happened. There were plenty of twists and turns that had me feeling like my heart was about to come out of my chest. This was so emotional and triggering at times. I loved it. The only thing I wished is to have more scenes in certain events that happened, but I think it would've dragged the book along, so I am honestly just wanting more of these two. This is definitely my favorite in the entire series. I honestly don't know how Cora is going to top this for me. There were too many things she nailed that I wanted for Amo and Greta. So thank you!! Now off I go, to read it over and over again.

"I like being a Falcone."
"I'd prefer you to be a Vitiello."

I survived BFIC!!

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m updating this to a 4 star because I still think abt this book & couple a lot

While it’s not my favorite and I do think some things could be more fleshed out it’s honestly a step up from cora’s latest releases

Amo & Greta are my babies and so far they had the best book in this series.

”I didn’t want to meet Greta in secret. I wanted to scream my feelings for her from the fucking rooftops”

“ smh” Amo & his love for pussy licking 😪😒

Song 🎶 Mirrors by Justin Timberlake is Greta & Amos anthem.

Idk really how to feel abt this book I don’t like it but at the same time I can’t help but feel it’s the best one in the series so far.

Right of the bat Amo is hooked on Greta I mean man was really a goner for her but honestly that’s not saying much in coras books he was sweet and probably the most loved out hero written by her if you want more devoted hero’s from Cora then you might like that change if you don’t..

Fair warning amo was whipped you’re not gonna get a Luca or a remo here it’s simply not in him when It comes to Greta.

I mean granted they only met once and he wanted her and tried to to end his engagement to someone els by going down on a random women at a club and drinking tequila of the women body so it makes the front page… but I digress.

Tbh a lot in this story was up & down at one moment it felt like a five star other times a one.

I really loved reading them at Gretas ranch there cute couple moments & them
Just talking and chilling it was obvious they had a connection but other then that they didn’t have a lot of development as a coupe so I can’t say if I really liked them
Together or not

The fact that amo at the start of the book had taken Cressida “ his fiancée” v card when they where teens to prove a point and it resulted in him having to marry her

Idk any y’all but one of the reason I love some of coras books is that the hero takes the girls v and the fact that it was done with not the heroine… add the fact that he had sex with Cressida again after they got married out of anger but still way before him & Greta ever got intimate… yeah Um no

In all fairness our boy amo did try to break it off before he married ow and wanted to be with Greta he flew to Vegas and everything wanted to marry her too Greta said no … but than a year later they have an affair no penetration but they do other stuff..

Despite all this I actually liked gretas character she’s the only one who I guess felt true to who I thought she would be in hints from previous books unlike the rest of the heroines in the sins of the father.

The ending to be was really dramatic and honestly didn’t need it, it felt very drawn out like Cora needed to cut the cord near the end of the book there only so long you can draw remo not wanting to let Greta go

Plus I felt robbed that there wasn’t a scene where anyone busted in on amo & greta sneaking around

Safety’

I would say This has boy obsessed trope but ngl that scene at the club kinda ruined the mood of the book for me a little while

After him and Greta meet once but nothing happens yet
He’s at a club with his friend and goes down on a chick and drinks tequila off her body he says he’s doing it so his fiancé can see and break of the marriage so he can be with Greta but idk that didn’t ring true and it was kinda detailed .. plus it’s on greta’s birthday 🥳

He took Cressida virginity when they where teens and has to marry her after meeting Greta he doesn’t do anything with her but a year later after they get married he has sex with her out of anger but it’s clear they both enjoy it.

Greta none she’s a goner for amo

Thank you to the author and her team for allowing me to read arc in exchange for an honest review

My gosh this book was worth the wait! I was anxious as hell from the very beginning. I didn’t know how Cora was going to make this couple work but through everything, it worked out beautifully.

I cried 3 times reading this book. I gasped (yes literally gasped) at least a thousand times and there were parts that had me on the edge of my seat the entire chapter.

The Falcones have always been my favorite family in this series so seeing them all again made me so happy. We even got major hints at future couples and I wish I could be a fly on the wall of Cora’s writing room.

This is by far the best book in the Sins of the Fathers series so far!
