I did CPR on my mom three times before I was nine years old.
The last time, I failed.
So maybe I have a bit of a hero complex. And more money than god. Those two things combined make me irresistible to every messed up woman in the city. Been there, done that, failed to put humpty back together again.
I’m done. No more broken, needy women for me.
Except God must have a sense of humor, because I find a woman sleeping in a broken down car in front of my garage in the middle of the night.
I should send her on her way. Except she’s a little unhinged. And sassy. And has thick, biteable thighs.
So of course, I give her a job, and a place to stay. I’ve got a problem, alright. I already told you that.
But no way is her sunshine going to draw me in. I’m done with women.
Yeah, I don’t believe it either.
Becca:
So I got scammed, and ended up sleeping in my broken down car.
It’s par for the course since my dad died. Maybe I haven't been making the smartest choices, you know, like selling everything I own to pay the medical bills and moving to the city to be a waitress.
Stupid plan, since i've never waitressed and am more likely to punch someone out than smile and say "yes sir."
But the grouchy mechanic banging on my window at two in the morning turns out to be a knight in tarnished armor.
If he thinks i’ll let him pay to fix my car, he’s crazy.
I’m a badass, and I always pay my way.
Besides, he needs me way more than I need him.
He just doesn’t realize it yet.
CW: I write about characters from hard places. This book touches on addiction, loss of a parent, cancer, domestic violence. But mostly, this is a book about people learning how to get out of their own way so they can love and be loved.
The story and the characters were full of issues. The character building was minimal. Too many baggage not deeply explored. Plenty of dragging. The found family was poorly presented.
I will give a chance to the next part, Micha and Holly piqued my interest. 🙏✌️
FMC was unbearably corny. MMC was indecisive and dull. Felt like there was no progression, between exchanging sob stories, and the FMC ranting about how she is not good enough for him because of how rich he is … borrringgg. Also, being that there was no progression, why is the FMC already in love after one date? Embarrassing
Did anyone else find the main character to be absolutely ridiculous??? She drove me nuts, I could not stand her. Overall the story was meh, the man male character always dates broken woman that he’s trying to fix when he finds Becca sleeping in her car. Obviously she’s just his type but little does he know Becca is not broken, she literally crazy instead. Like I get the sassy main character bit but everything that came out of her mouth was wild, and taken way to far.
Kade has a difficult past. His mother was a drug addict and died when he was young and he ended up bouncing around foster homes, until he met 8 other boys in a group home together they built a family, a home and an entire empire now worth billions. Because he looked after his mother in his formative years, he now has a bad history with women, he seems to be drawn to women who need help, and he gives them everything… then they leave him and the cycle repeats. By the time he meets Becca, he’s sworn off of getting into relationships and helping women in need. Becca has just moved to the city following her father’s death, or at least tried to move. She’s just lost most of her money to a rental scam and has nowhere to go. She hops into her old car with her last 300-ish dollars and sets off in search of somewhere to spend the night. Then her car breaks down. She manages to get her car into the parking lot of a garage and decides to sleep there and wait for the garage to open in the morning. She’s woken up by a huge man knocking on her car window and telling her she can’t sleep there. Kade is unsure about helping her, given his history of helping women and having them cheat, steal and generally break his heart. He takes a look but there isn’t much he can do at 2am so after a bit of arguing he allows her to go inside and sleep on the couch in the break room. Kade is clearly overworked and exhausted, and Becca can’t afford the $3000 it would cost to fix her car up. They come to an agreement that she can work at the desk in the garage to take some of the workload from Kade, in exchange for a wage and being able to stay in the empty apartment above the garage. Over the next 6 weeks Kade begins falling for Becca, but is very hot and cold with her due to his fear of her leaving him once her situation gets better. After a lot of arguments they decide to give it a try once Becca decides to leave the job at the garage and go into teaching martial arts and self defence at the local dojo. Becca meets Holly at one of her self defence classes and decides Holly would be perfect for the job at the garage, and spends time training Holly for the job. Holly is on the run from her abusive husband, and somehow he finds out she is working there and shows up one day with a knife. Becca kicks his ass, Kade is shook and realises she doesn’t need his help and never has (which she has been telling him literally the whole time) and he freaks out and says it isn’t going to work. After a stern talking to from his brother Colton, he realises he messed up and goes up to the apartment to ask for another chance, explaining that he was just shocked and didn’t know she was a ninja. Becca gives him the chance and things end up working out. Kade is a great story, but the writing could’ve used some work. I’d still recommend the book but would advise about the writing beforehand. It’s not too bad, especially as this appears to be the first ever release the author, Jenna Myles, made - but it is a little cheesy at times and could’ve used some editing. Overall though, it did get me hooked and I did buy the rest of the series so far and plan to buy the last two books upon their releases too, and the writing does improve as the series goes on, it seems Jenna gained more confidence in her writing and more momentum in the story of the Brash Brothers finding love, which is what we love to see!

I read Colton first, but it's nice to circle back around and read where this story started. Though they can be read in any order and you'll understand things perfectly fine, it seems that this story is very connected. Each book flows nicely into the next, which I enjoy.
These found family vibes are immaculate.
As far as this particular story goes, I could take or leave Kade, but I want to be best friends with Becca.
This could have maybe been a 3 star read if I had read it before I read a later book in the series. But reading it after Zach had me comparing it a little too much and this story missed out on the found family aspect that was shown more in that book. On top of that though I didn't love how rushed it felt and the romance seemed lacking since it went so quickly. And the character development was almost nonexistent in my opinion. Too much had happened in their lives for it to barely be talked about.
Im so disappointed I spent money on this. The entire relationship happened in past tense. Three weeks went by and the things that happened were explained after. An entire relationship changed, in two couples, and we didn’t see any of it. I want my money back.
What a interesting new world to jump into. These guys are gonna be a strange new brand of hot and sexy. Kade was an idiot a lot of the time but he was a big sexy one. I loved Becca though and she was a true badass. Can't wait for Micah and Holly.
Loved this book. Great story, slow burn romance. Well developed main characters that you can’t help but love. If you’re looking for a sex filled story, this isn’t it. But if you want a good story line with characters you root for the whole way through, this is it!
Jenna Myles's first book Kade is a billionaire romance. Kade is a bit broken and a bit grumpy when it comes to anyone but his family really. Becca is grieving and right now is down on her luck and things just keep going from bad to worse.
They are a great combination and have some really great chemistry and moments.
Jenna made a story full of banter, and fun as well as some drama, and hot moments. It seems as if there are plenty of Brash brothers to come and I really look forward to watching them fall.
If you're looking for a new author to try I fully recommend Jenna Myles and her debut novel. . . . Becca is still grieving the loss of her father, she was so deep in her grief that her friends didn't know how to deal and ended up drifting away now she's pretty much alone. She was hoping to start over in a new town away from the memories that haunt her, but it turns out she was scammed and now she has her whole life packed in her car which has broken down. The only plus side is she managed to break down in front of a garage. It might be the middle of the night but she can wait it out until morning.
When Kade shows up at the old garage in the middle of the night trying to catch up on work he's surprised to see a car in the driveway. He thinks the workers left it out but when he spots the woman sleeping in the front seat he's taken aback. He has a habit of trying to fix broken women and this one has broken written all over her. He intends to listen to his brother's advice and move her on but one good look at her and he wants her. His protective/fixer side comes out and he's mad at himself for repeating the same pattern he always does.
The sexy grump who showed up at her window and shows her kindness is the first good thing to happen to her in a while. But now he's pushing his luck. He's trying to take over her problems and fix things. She doesn't need or want either. She might not be riding high at the moment but she's not a damsel in distress either. She's a lot stronger than he even knows.
Kade tries to keep his distance despite that Becca is now working in his garage until she saves enough to fix her car. When she finds a new job and wants to leave Kade knows how bad of a mess he's made of things. He pushed her away but now he doesn't want to let her go.
Really interesting read but I’m half way in and I’m kinda of done lol.
I’m a sucker for the ‘he takes care of her’ trope and he does but this one focuses on how he’s always being used but the FMC is soo special because she doesn’t use him the same way.
And I don’t mind that. She’s cool, but a little cringy sometimes.
I was planning on pushing through it because it’s not horrible but another shiny book caught my attention so..
I don't think I have read that was as funny as this one. It is so good, I loved it! Great start to the series, the foundations were laid out in this book for some of the others guys stories and books. It was nice to read about the vulnerability of a guy and his biggest issues. They helped eachother without realising it. Beautiful read!
This book was so so so good!!! I fell in love with Becca, she is hilarious and quirky which made her such a fun character to get to know. I found myself laughing throughout the entire book, getting angry for the characters, and feeling sad when the characters where in a slump. The book wasn't spicy in my opinion, it did have some dark moments (the backstories of some of the characters) but overall I found it to be a lighthearted, easy read.
Loved it! Thanks to booktok on tik tok I am now a fan of the Brash brothers and Ms. Myles. I am so look ok looking forward to Micah and Holly's book! I can't wait. The author did an amazing job writing this story. Kade needed a little fixing up.of his own and Badass Becca needed to love him. Great read! 4 loving stars
Conflicted because I liked the story, I liked the heavy elements, and side characters, but; I didn’t really enjoy the relationship between the two mc’s. Too much will they/wont they.
This is the first book in this series. Kade and Becca met when her broke down at his garage. He ends up hiring her for the office. But both have secrets and baggage. Can these two be able to connect even if they don't have anything in common?
Lots of love to our main girl, Becca, who’s a kickass (…literally: a ninja) funny, and proudly thick-thighed woman. The story gently and beautifully works through domestic abuse and childhood trauma. But, respectfully, this should be Becca’s book; Kade’s personality was as spicy as a banana.
First time with this author I saw a clip on instagram for the book Colton but was told to start from the beginning. So glad I listened Kade is a white knight personality but has been hurt by so many in the past, Becca is not a Damsel in distress she is just down on her luck because of a pain and hurt from loosing her father..It takes them some time to get to know each other and realise what they each wanted. I have also fallen in love with these Big Brawley men that have become brothers and family
Insta love, too many supporting characters, though I do realize it’s a series so for there to be more books you have to introduce the characters at some point. I feel like the plot was decent enough, but there was no detail. Everything was spelled out instead of described allowing your mind to imagine it, if that makes sense.
Another review by Kuro said it better so I borrowed theirs. “I really liked how the author started off this couple, however, I really couldn't stand the fact that Kade kept ignoring her. At the beginning he avoided her for the entire 3 week period that he gave her to work in the office. Then when she said that she was going to leave her wants her to stay... Broooo you ignored her. Also after when they started dating for about a month, he left her because she could protect herself.... when she was in a dangerous situation and anyone would need a hug after he iced her out.. AND she still took him back, I wish she made him sweat. While I understand why he was so broken, personally took away my enjoyment”
