***CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR A PACK UNWANTED*** My suppressants failed on my mate and me mid-heat, and we made the difficult decision to find some alphas to weather my future heats. Even though I never thought I would want a relationship with an alpha, the pack we found surprisingly managed to capture my heart. I fell in love with them. However, I found out they lied to me. They have an omega. While I learned that they lied for a fair reason, it doesn’t change the fact that my heart hurts, and I don’t know if I can trust them anymore. My heat is close, and I’ll have to decide, can I trust them with my heat and my heart? I’ve already forgiven them and honestly don’t care if that makes me an idiot. I know that they’re what is best for my mate and me. The only thing is, will Cat forgive me when I nudge her back in their direction? A Pack Uncertain is the second book in the Williams-Torrance Pack series featuring LGBTQ+ and inclusive characters, why choose, and spicy—intended for adult audiences only.
On August 1st, 2022 I decided to write a book. After some encouraging notes from friends I continued to write it and on September 24th, 2022 I finished the bulk writing of my very first novel. I am excited to share all the stories that seem to fill my head. I will often be writing paranormal romance that is spicy, why choose, and LGBTQ+ friendly. Right now I have at least seven more planned and new ideas everyday.
When I am not writing, I work full-time as an accountant. When I do finally relax you can find me hanging out with my partners or friends, reading a good book, crocheting something fun, doing some other craft, or hanging out with my two kittens affectionately named Lola and Baby after Kathryn Moon’s Sweetverse characters.
I've lived in Washington State my whole life, born and raised in a small town before moving near Seattle after finishing college where I have lived for the last nine years.
This book stems on the promise that Cait and Adam find a suitable pack to ride out Cait’s Heat. (She’s a newly awakened omega) You have to understand, Cait and Adam love each other and have been together for years upon years!! So this is no small love. We are talking about if they could bite each other, they would bite each other!!
**spoiler**
They meet a pack. It has two guys and one women. Everything looks good except one MAJOR DETAIL Damon the pack alpha is 150% more interested in Adam (author could not make this more clear. Again ruining the RH) than he is in Cait this is supposed to be a Reverse Harem). He then drops a bomb. He HAS a nonbinary Omega already and wants to include them into the dynamic.
I felt like I was reading TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORYLINES!!! One where Adam meets falls in love with Damon and his nonbinary Omega, and one where Cait falls in love with (at least not the one we were led to believe!) the rest of the pack, Matt and Abby. THAT IS NOT A PACK! The whole book feels disjointed, as if the author should have written a book where the nonbinary character and the Alpha and Beta fall in love. And a separate book where Cait falls in love with Matt and Abby( of course this would leave problems since she said Cait was so in love with Adam) falls in love!! And it’s sad…because she really set it up that Cait and Adam WOULD always be together and love each other to the end of time! She made them seem like soulmates!! And then she ripped them apart and gave them new love interests/lovers
The first book was amazing5 stars. But this one Cat was so annoying. Where did my strong woman go? Adam was everything for me in this he is the best partner and best character over all.
So this one was better than the first one but I still didn't like it.
Everyone still seemed more interested in considering Mickeys feelings over Cat's.
Matt seemed to have some sort of attitude problem that was glossed over a lot.
Abby was okay, but I forgot about her character at times. She was a bit boring and didn't seem to add much to the story.
Adam was more interested in Damon and Mickey instead of Cat. They didn't have much time together in this book. Cat didn't even talk to him about her heat plans or bonding until it happened. It just seemed like their relationship declined as the others were built.
Mickey and Damon are a separate relationship from everything else. Then, they added Adam into their relationship. Matt, Abby and Cat are also a separate relationship. Instead of everyone being in one together. It was weird. Maybe it would have felt more connected if Damon and Cat were able to build something as they were supposed to?
The Wendy part of the storyline was disconnected and felt unfinished. It was like an outside problem, that didn't really effect the pack directly (except the fire). Maybe if Wendy had attacked Cat or Adam? Or shown up more than a couple random phone calls? What was the first call? What "proof" was there to get? What designation was Wendy since she seemed to be put off by betas? Are unmated Omegas allowed to work there considering the nature of the job?
Also, apparently there are times when the mates can feel emotions down the bond but not always? For example, we never read about Damon and Mickey feeling the others emotions. And Matt was mated to Cat and couldn't feel down the bond that she was in heat?? Neither Abby nor Matt seemed to be in a rush or happy about Cat going into heat early despite knowing that it could happen at any moment.
I just feel unsatisfied as a whole with the series. I won't be reading the third one.
I received an ARC copy of the book and I'm writing this review voluntarily.
I really loved the first installment in this series but I found this book to be lacking. I can appreciate a pack working through the difficulties of adding new members and figuring out how the relationships work but I just found that it didn't keep my interest. It felt like it was lacking any kind of action. There were many sweet moments and I did really enjoy Mickey and Cat's friendship.
The story continues right after the last book. As I said in the review for A Pack Unwanted, the dynamic is special and still is.
I like that the focus in the second book is equally on Mickey, who was more on the sideline in the first book, and therefore at Damon and Adam, too. But on Cat, her struggles/emotions, and her connection to Abby and Matt, either.
I loved that consent is a big part of the book, though I felt it was often too much and exceedingly repeated. So, I appreciated the aspect, but sometimes I was a little annoyed either. Even though, it doesn't make sense sometimes, but I was.
So, in the entirety, I enjoyed the journey Cat and Adam made with the pack. And how they found their footing. And how the author considered the emotions and struggles of each member.
On the other hand, I wasn't happy with the ending. It didn't felt solved. As it should be, when you finish a book. Sure, there will be an extended epilogue. But considering it is an 'extra' part, and not part of the main plot in that, it shouldn't be used as solving the last loose ends. And I think exactly that will happen. For example, the situation between Cat and Mickey. As well as the bond with Damon. On that note, even though book 1 hinted that after the disaster, Damon will have more time with Cat, it didn't happen that way. He was more focused on Adam. Same with Mickey. He hasn't had a date with Cat at all. And I don't count pack meetings/dates. Still, the book ends on a positive note with Cat having a friendly relationship with Mickey, Damon is apparently in love with her and Adam (he even bonds him). And pack life is good in general.
But it isn't satisfying, with the main plot assumed finish line. And now, there is an extended epilogue mentioned, which isn't released now. Luckily, it isn't far away. But far enough, that I will probably forget some of the content. But it's not the first time, I read a book series with gaps and breaks in between.
This book starts off right where A Pack Unwanted stopped and there is an extended epilogue coming out sometime after this book. I was very intrigued to see what would happen to resolve the miscommunication from the last book. I feel like Jenny Black really protrade the true working when it comes to how Cat was thinking and being worried when it came to rebuilding this pack in order to make it work.
This book has a focus on Mickey who we only saw in slight passing in the last book and honestly, I really enjoyed that because it was hard for me to connect back with Damon after the last book which in turn made me question my initial feelings toward Mickey. It is always intriguing to see how an author will write and portray a double omega pack.
There are still some questions regarding the pack and its future after this book since Cta bonded with Matt and Abby as things still were not in the right place with Damon at the time during her early heat. Overall this book has some spice, some twists, and just heart felt moments all wrapped into one.
I loved this continuation of the Williams-Torrance pack. This books picks up right after the first finishes and we find ourselves watching the pack work to fix their mistakes and overcome the many miscommunications and misunderstandings that take place between themselves, Cat and Adam. Sometimes I just want to shake Cat because she is in her head way too much, but it also makes me like her because I am the same way. I love watching the work that goes into these relationships and also love that it does not mean this is a slow burning book 🥵. We spend a lot more time with Mickey in this book and it makes me so happy because I love them. CC is quite possibly my new favorite of this group. My biggest issue that I have while reading this book is that it makes me so hungry. 🤣 The food always sounds amazing and I really need Damon to come and cook for me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what happens in pack in life next.
I throughly enjoyed book two and getting to see the relationships develop more in this book. I loved the first one, however I do really enjoy the way the relationships have started to grow. This book picks up right where it left off, and after the first one I had tons of questions lol.
I really enjoyed the way the pack works to fix their mistakes and the miscommunications they had. One thing I enjoyed was reading more about Mickey. I really loved them. One thing I really hope is to see how Mickey and Cat’s relationship will grow more. The dynamics are finally starting to come together a bit and I love it.
Overall, I really loved the book. I am looking forward to book three in the series. I do recommend this book to anyone looking for a good omegaverse read! Throughly enjoyed and can’t wait for the next one.
This is the second book in the storyline for these characters and we pick up where things left off. Tensions are high because Cat had just found out about Mickey that was being hidden from her and she felt betrayed. A lot of the storyline focuses on them repairing those relationships and Cat getting to know Damon more. Plus Damon and Mickey getting closer with Adam. Luckily they are able to work through things but Cat goes into heat earlier than expected which throws a wrench in the plans. They make it through alright and she bonds with Matt and Abby. Cat still hasn’t bonded with Damon with the timing being right. The storyline leaves off with a lot of questions for the future progression of the pack that will hopefully get all wrapped up in the next book.
I liked this better than the first book. Not to say I didn't like the first, I absolutely did, but this one went way deeper, had loads of spicy scenes, and accountability was taken for the stupidity of the decision making in book one. I felt like more could have been done with the whole side plot situation which basically didn't affect anyone other than very briefly Damon, but it was handled off page and was more like, "oh, btw, this crazy thing happened, anyway back to important stuff" instead of it being a subplot with the slightly darker undertone that there was potential for. That said, I'm absolutely ready for more!
This was a good resolution to the previous book's cliffhanger. The relationships evolve in a healthy way that stresses good communication. I would have liked a more intense or deeper dive into Wendy and her motives and actions. It felt like a side point to the resolution of the main conflict more than a major plot point by the time it wrapped up. Maybe it was slightly anticlimactic for me? Lastly, I love the way gender dysphoria is described and approached in as respectful and beautiful of a manner as possible.
A Pack Uncertain by Jenny Black is the second book in the Williams-Torrance Pack Series. This starts off right where book one left off. Cat and Adam just found out about Mickey. This is such a lovely, heartfelt story. I loved watching Cat and Adam learn how to trust, love a pack that has already been formed. I'm looking forward to seeing Cat and Adam really integrate themselves with Abby, Matt, Mickey, and Damon.
I absolutely adored the first book in this series and this follow up novel did not disappoint. I love how Jenny writes Omegaverse. Her pack dynamics are so unique and a treat to read .
I loved seeing all the characters growth in this book, the pack being a double omega pack really helped shape this book as this book revolves around the pack solving their problems.
I have a soft spot for Adam and he definitely remained my favourite in this book. Can’t wait to read more by Jenny.
Ah I love the books by this author already. This is book 2 so do read a Pack Unwanted before picking this one up. This does continue where book 1 left it at. I am a huge fan of character development and to see how relationships grow from here. I enjoyed the fact that it isn't slow burn or anything so we still have the heat factor. The story is nice to read and keeps you engaged and I can't wait for the next book.
There was a lot I loved about this book and most of it was Mickey. They had such a down to earth POV and while they went through so much I felt like their tone was the most natural. Some of the overall dialogue in the duet was a bit formal and I didn’t feel like the pack really got comfortable with one another, despite physical intimacy.
SPOILER: X Y Z Wendy’s arc was disappointing. It was a back burner drama and was seemingly more inconvenient than dramatic.
This was even better than the first! I loved the character development in this story. You really learn more about each pack member making the thoughts and actions make so much more sense. This story has so many aww, lol, and 🔥 moments. It seriously won’t disappoint. And the plot twists are great! I will definitely read book # 3 when released.
I loved every minute of this book! Damon, Adam, and Mickey have solidified themselves as my favorite. I love Abby and Matt and Cat but it’s something different when i get to see Adam get the love and attention he so much deserves! He’s such a good person! From beginning to end i was plastered to this book! I can’t wait to get into the next one!
I love this book so much I could not put it down! I loved that it has LGBTQIA main characters and explained different dynamics! I would recommend this book to likes learning abs different relationship dynamics. Enjoy 😉 you'll love it ❤️
Loved this! Devoured it on vacation. I want more in their world for sure. The nonbianary character felt very well represented and i love that they are a main part of the story not just a side. Well done.
Cat still doesn't have a pack or an alpha and her heat is fast approaching. Can she reconcile with the pack or will she and Adam go through it alone. This is a good read and will get your motor running. I recommend it for omegaverse lovers.
Perfect continuation from book 1, such a refreshing dynamic and love how Jenny portrays all the interworkings of this pack. Looking forward to book 3 and can't wait!
This book continues right after A Pack Unwanted. I enjoyed reading how all the different relationships between everyone evolve throughout the book. Looking forward to the story continuing in book 3.
I thought I loved the first one, but this one exceeded my expectations! Absolutely enjoyed this from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for a better resolution. Love love love!!!
I loved how the storyline evolved and all the character development and emotional growth we enjoyed in this book. I am so happy we got to know more of Mickey and can't wait to see what comes next!
Continuing the story of the Williams Torrence pack, and Cat and Adams quest to find a pack that they can trust.
Having shattered the fragile trust that pack have built with Cat, A Pack Uncertain follows as Matt, Abby, Damon and Mickey attempt to win Cat back around and prove that she can trust them.
I've really enjoyed reading rhis series from a new author, particularly enjoying the characters and their interactions both individually and as a pack.
This is a beautiful follow-up to Book 1 and the author gives us more on the back story of Mickey in such a tender way my heart truly broke for them. As a reader from the bi/poly community, I applaud Jay Black for capturing the essence of how romantic and intricate the dating process can be regarding polyamorous relationships. Many people have misconceptions about this lifestyle but I believe they have captured the magic of it flawlessly.
I'm so glad we got to see more of Mickey and how they fit into the family dynamic. Their story was so carefully written and explained with great compassion. Although they had to deal with some terrible trauma in their life, the way the pack cares for them was so heartwarming to read. I'm loving this series so much and I can't wait to see what the next book brings.
