This is such an important book for me, and any athlete, to read. I’m facing the recovery of an injury that could’ve, and honestly should’ve, ended my senior year but I’m fighting through it. I am fearful which is diminishing my performance, and my performance changes my mood and I bank most of my happiness and on my performance, which creates more fear, and it’s created such a mental block for me. How I perform in sports changes and reflects into how I live my life, which should not be the case for any student athletes, but unfortunately is. This book is so important for anyone to read to help break the bad cycle and build up that happy and smiley cycle. Sports should not affect my mood as it has, and I just need to work harder so I don’t disappoint myself. What has happened to me has happened to so many others, but we just need to remember to keep working through it all when faced with adversity. My only complaint, is I wish i had learned about this book earlier. i havent appreciated sports as much as i should have these past few months, maybe even years, and this book has certainly changed my perspective to be more appreciative of what i have, but also to work and show up for my team. i got hurt during my basketball season, when i was performing in a college showcase for soccer. it was tragic for me to lose the last time ill ever play basketball, but i knew i wasnt the best and that id always have my spring high school soccer season, as long as i was doing my pt and working with my athletic trainer everyday. i was sacrificing basketball to get stronger for soccer, but when i wasnt performing at my peak, i broke down and sulked because the one thing i was waiting and preparing myself for, i couldnt do anymore. it sucks and i may not be performing well but that doesn't me i need to reflect and bring my bad energy to the rest of my team; just because im not performing well doesnt mean they should also.
