“I have a question, but people often tell me my questions are rude.” […]
“Can you tell me your name?”
“Um…” […] “Kota. My name’s Kota.”
“Thank you. It’s nice to meet you, Kota.“
“What’s your favorite memory of him?”
“I don’t revisit memories. They’re painful.”
“Believe me, I know. But that’s where Brendan lives now, and if you don’t go back and visit him sometimes you might lose the way.“
We still have hurdles to face, but I know one thing—he’s mine now, and I’m his, no matter what that means. Separately, we’re unfinished, but together we can walk forward, whole and free and bathed in light.
It should be a fucking crime how perfect he is. Perfect in this light. Perfect for me. So perfect, sometimes it doesn’t feel real. He doesn’t feel real. But he is. This is. And by some fucking miracle, he’s all mine.
This is my second time reading from this author and she's two for two with hits. This short story had a really interesting and complex relationship. It's a second chance romance with a lot of angst and an ending that leaves you wanting more. More like needing more!
Riley Nash somehow managed to pack so much emotion into such a short page count. Kota and Jamie's relationship was so sweet and caring, I'm so happy they have each other. And of course the steamy scenes were immaculate.
Speaking of steamy scenes, this short was off the charts!! These three friends-to-lovers' had amazing chemistry. But it wasn't just that, their friendship really shone through with both their playful banter and deep meaningful conversations.
Really enjoyed this one. I hope Avery and Dean get a full book, and I want Ben to get a book too! It's a romance between a seemingly straight garage owner and his employee. After his homophobic roommates leaves Avery's living situation up in the air, Dean insists he stay with him. Living and working together, the two can't ignore the sexual tension between them!
This was office romance and bi awakening packed into one. It starts off in the past with Owen's first kiss with a guy and then fast forwards 6 years to the present, where he is finally letting himself explore that side of his attraction. When that attraction is to his assistant, it leads to some fun complications.
After graduating high-school Mason and his best friend Sarah move to a cabin his grandfather left him, in the Ozarks. They're both queer and ready to shed their small town and live to the fullest. It's there that Mason meets restaurant owner Owen. But Owen doesn't hook up with locals, and that's what Mason is now. It's lucky for them there's more than just hooking up on the cards.
A violent situation with her abusive husband is the last straw for Nelly and she decides to finally leave him. Her best friend Wren is the only person she'd want to turn to. After drifting apart, these childhood friends fall right back together. This childhood friends-to-lovers was sweet and heartwarming

Bi The Way by Isabel Lucero - 3 Stars
Adrien and his hookup buddy Victoria have been on the lookout for a third to have a threesome with. When Vic finds someone, Adrien is excited as all hell. Except he's under the impression that it was with another girl, but then the final member turns up to the party and it turns out it's a dude. This set up was probably my main grip with this short. It felt icky how Victoria withheld info and tricked Adrien into the situation. While Adrien and Oliver were really cute together, and I loved the roommate aspect to their romance, I do wish they had first met in a better way.

Off Sides by Andi Jaxon - 3 stars
This was a pretty standard college romance. Joey and Nick are on different sport teams so they keep their hooking up on the down low.

Lost In Her by Harleigh Beck - 1 star
I'm baffled at how bad this was lol. This was a step-sisters romance except they have zero chemistry, and throw in a ridiculous kidnapping plotline that's basically glossed over after the next few pages. Oh and a random sex scene in a classroom, to make the other love interest jealous. Don't classroom doors have a big ass window in them? She was literally eating someone out during school hours... I have to laugh tbh

Make me Pretty by Marie Ann - 1 star
Unfortunately, a terrible start to this anthology. An absolute dud for me. I need to learn to dnf 😂
Didn't read this one as it's not a standalone and "certain things will probably make more sense if you read" 2 of this author's other books... which I have not read.
Maybe it's just me, but why tf is there a short story in an anthology, with a bunch of different authors, that has prerequisite reading. Make it make sense.
"Torn apart between two boys I loved in equal measures. Incapable of reaching out for either one. Reluctant to have only one."
"You make me feel worthy."
"He’s the first person to see the real Kota, the first one who makes me feel wanted and cared for as a man, not a sideshow."
“You be you, Avery. Don’t let those fuckers tell you to change.”
