I somehow skipped this book and finally got time to read it. Even though I knew what would happen in the next book, it didn’t matter the slightest as I loved to get the backstory after the fact. Rosetti is as headstrong as ever, and this one was really sweet.

Kate gets a new case that has ties to her family. She’ll stop at nothing to find the murderer. She’s got a lot on her plate, her sisters upcoming wedding, finding a murderer, and sorting out her feelings. I really enjoyed this page turner! Can’t wait for more! #TeamGem

The Detective Kate Rosetti Mystery series is well blended with humor, romance, action, and mystery. Readers see yet another layer of the detective as she looks deeper within herself in this newest book. I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes her series from here!

another good solid one in the series. quite a bit of humor.
this time a cop has been killed by a car bomb and it may relate to Kate's dad.
also, she's single.
the story is split b/w the investigation and Kate dealing w/her lovelife especially since it's Valentine's Day.
easy, quick listen or read as chapters are short & pacing is quick.

One word for this Kate Rosetti book is WOW! After Kate opened her heart up to Jack and then they broke up, she has thrown herself even more into work and Valentines Day is no exception when a former cop, Heinrich, from her family's past is found dead. He was the one who put Kate's father in jail and testified against him. This now becomes personal. Who wanted him dead? Who would blow him up? Could her father have anything to do with it? Could it be revenge? Suspects takes Kate and her partner, Jimmy from bowling alleys to an exclusive mansion. With Heinrich retired from the force, he took to being a bowling champ and kept winning the tournaments year after year so he wasn't involved with the force any more. Or did someone come back from his past? Kate has to deal with the slimy reporter, Trevor Sime who seems to be ahead of them with his reporting while hounding Kate about her father. And her best friends decided she needed to live a little and lighten up and give Gem a chance so Melissa takes her on a ride to give her an "intervention" and drops her off and rides away. What is she to do? There's a blizzard happening. This book has so many threads all surrounding Kate and just when things seem to be looking up we get thrown a zinger. A great ending making you desperate to read more to see what or how things are going to resolve. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Reading this reminds me a lot of the Janet Evanovich books but instead of a bounty hunter, we have a police officer here. The problem relies in while I can suspend my disbelief a lot with a bounty hunter, it's more difficult to do with the police. We are told constantly that the mc is the best detective but none of her actions reflect that. Dumb decisions after dumb decisions.

This is my second book on this series and in both I have found that the killer is supposed to be very smart but the third act is them suddenly coming out and saying they are the bad guys. All that supposedly cleverness goes out of the window.

The romance part of all is full of tropes. The billionaire is boring and with no personality and is only there to prop the mc while the police officer appears only to add drama.

This is a very popcorn book so I might continue the series (like I do with the Evanovich books) when I want a light predictable story. There is room for that type of books too :)

Another good mystery with Detective Kate Rosetti. This one really hits home for Kate. Her past (or rather her Father's past) is coming back to haunt them. In this particular book, the mystery gets put on the back burner a bit. There was more to this story revolving around the detective and her life. She was at a cross roads of sorts and trying to find her way. There was also more in the romance department. It was a little more emotional, I even got teary eyed a time or two. There is some humor throughout as well. All our favorite characters are there. Even the new faces (in the forms of the suspects) were interesting people. As you'd except, there is the big surprise reveal which ends with the detectives life being threatened. There is no sexual content, and very little violence, and no strong language.

In the 8th Detective Kate Rosetti mystery, it is Valentine's Day. While Kate would love nothing more than to hide away until the day is over, unfortunately there is a gruesome murder to investigate, one involving a man who played a pivotal role in her family’s past. Meanwhile, a certain billionaire seems intent on keeping her close, and a former flame isn’t completely out of the picture.
I love this series. I love that Kate has (sort of) decided between the two men in her life. This has a strong female protaganist, great mystery, and lots of smiles. This is perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich and Elle Cosimano. I highly recommend it!

Yet another fabulous instalment in this gripping detective series. It was great to be back with Kate Rosetti again, along with her partner and all the others on the case. As ever an intriguing case with plenty of twists and turns, along with a captivating storyline.

The case will keep you guessing as will Kate and the ongoing developments in her personal life… it is great to the growth of this character and the additional depth to Kate as a person and all her relationships.

A great whodunnit, as well as a developing romance.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I just finished Diamond in the Rough by Gina LaManna and it is worth the wait. Being a strong Team Gem person, I was hoping that the the title was foreshadowing a storyline that will make me happy…Kate Rossetti is on the case of another murder that twists in and out of Kate’s personal life. I do like the direction it appears Kate’s personal life is headed, but an interesting twist has me curious about the path. I loved this latest installment to the Kate Rosetti stories. (I need more Diamond titles, Ms. LaManna)

Kate Rosetti is one tough Detective! She has faced many nasty situations-some hopeless. This book has her facing some tough situations in her personal life and as a cop. The continuing storyline keeps getting better and better. I am glad she's back, and I hope to see more of her again soon. A terrific mix of family/job/romance had me reading late into the night. And just when I thought things were settling down, the author surprised me! Great series that I love to read, and I look forward to the next book!

If you aren’t reading the Kate Rosetti series, then you need to start now! This is the 8th in the series and they just keep getting better and better. This one was really hard to put down! I love the fact that Kate is so very good at her job, but so uncertain when it comes to her personal life. She’s an easy character to like! And if you do want to read this series, then I recommend starting with book one, Shoot the Breeze. You will love getting to know Kate and her family and friends too!

I really enjoyed the emotional development of our protagonist Kate Rosetti. She’s finally coming to terms with what and who is most important in her life. Meanwhile, there’s a murder to investigate and this one puts someone close to her as a prime suspect. She has so many leads to chase down, all leading to several different suspects. The ending will surprise you and lead you to wanting more of Kate Rossetti’s story.

OMG...... I need book 9 now!

Kate Rosetta and Gina LaManna do it again. This is a perfect series. It combines family, suspense, humor and romance into this wonderfully intriguing story. The cast of characters is beyond exceptional. I thought Gem was finally winning, but up pops Jack again. The crimes and detective work is compelling. The Rosetti's are the best. Just love it. Gina, you are amazing. Can't wait for the next one.

The Kate Rosetti series is light reading for me. Light mysteries, light complicated love life bouncing between two guys.

Kate is called to investigate the death of a Detective instrumental in incarcerating her father. Her partner (who has been retiring for several books now) keeps her reigned in so the newest slimy reporter doesn't find any dirt.

Of course, it has nothing to do with her father and the cases comes to a quick abrupt close and Kate once again between the two guys.

Enough of the love triangle…

I fear this series is the next Stephanie Plum, which I stopped reading because after a while a love triangle just gets monotonous. Kate is a grown woman, but honestly, she is not mature enough to be in any relationship. I usually love Gina’s books, but this series just doesn’t have a strong female lead, it’s really hard to see what would make two men so attracted to her. The supporting characters are far more interesting.

Kate is again single-ish after her break up with FBI Jack. I know most people are team Jack but honestly I think Gem will treat her better in the forever. Gem is single also as he fiance ditched him.
The mystery again involves her dad and ex-con, ex-cop and it is unclear if the person pulling the strings is out to frame him or is after Kate.
Ends with a lot of action and again both Jack and Gem are in her orbit.

The first paragraph was so Kate and so funny. We’re back to a death somehow is related to her father. I love the scenes between Kate and her father. I still can’t figure out, when it comes to interpersonal relationships how is Kate so dense. My question is why? How the heck did that happen. By the way her sister should be able to give her one good punch. About her relationship with men, I’m in the camp of ‘whatever’ let’s just have a good murder.

Explosive!

There are almost no words to describe how good this book is. The best one yet and this time it’s very personal for Kate. Extremely well written with a strong female lead character and fantastic supporting characters. The author grabs your attention from the beginning and leaves you wanting more at the end. I look forward to more in this series. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Amazing

Wow! Things are interesting when Kate's family pulled into a murder investigation! I enjoyed reading this book so much that I didn't ever want to put it down! Things with Russo have died down, but things with Gem might be heating up?!? Kate is getting into her feelings in this book. I can't wait to see who Kate chooses, if either of them, and what they do next!

worth the wait

In this book Rossetti is gaining much needed perspective. It is nice seeing her vulnerable, making mistakes, an having doubts. Make her human. Book is fast paced and engaging. Can’t wait for the next book. Hopefully she has learned a thing or two and ends up in the healthy relationship and doesn’t drag this situation any further.

Another awesome story. I love Kate she’s such a unique character. Then you add in Jimmy, Alistair, Asha and the rest of the crew and you have a great story.

Their was a bomb set off that killed a retired detective from their precinct. This was a great read. As always grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go until the last word of the book.

Great read!

It started with an explosion, the first of many with so many twists and turns and plot surprises that I could hardly catch my breath. An edge of your seat with suspense type of book that just doesn't let up till the final few pages and total shocker of who turned out to be the murderer followed by a total shocker of an ending. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

Diamond in the Rough, titled as number 8 with Detective Kate Rosetti, was number 1 for me. I admired Kate as a character especially her dry sense of humor. This mystery was just right for me. A little romance, a little intrigue, and I didn't figure it out. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Another great installment of Kate Rosetti’s life

I adore this series and gobble up each new installment! This one was another winner with a bit of Kate’s life, family, a mystery to solve, and, of course, a bit of a love story. I can’t wait for the next!

No spoilers. I think this might have been my favorite book in this series. The breakthrough at the end of self realization was a great opportunity to start building for the next book. I really do hope to see Kate with Gem in the next book. They are my favorite pair
