Kill Your Darlings

My twin sister was my safe place in our world of pain.

Until she looked me in the eyes and stabbed me through the heart with a twist of the knife.

This left me to become the monster I am.

But little does she know that what bruises me will destroy her.

I guess it's time to take what's mine, and kill my little darling.

Twins, Cherish and Crew Duchannes have long fought their unconventional feelings. Caught in a compromising position by their heavy-handed father, he takes swift, albeit surreptitious, action to remedy their budding relationship.

When the truth comes to light, no one is safe from the heII Crew rains down in Switchblade Falls. And I loved every minute of the harsh and exacting vengeance.

PSA: I do not condone this pairing in real life.

Kill Your Darlings is a quick read that will leave you wanting more. The book is not available on Amazon and can be found on the author’s website

Crew is entirely off his rocker and far from a good man. Cherish wouldn't want it any other way. Each other's weaknesses and will sacrifice for the other. Secrets and lies are kept from them, with one big secret between the two.

I loved Crew's possessiveness of Cherish and his small soft spot.

The author has a way of drawing you and keeping your attention—my only complaint; I wanted more.

Honestly I never thought I’d be into this…
but Rory & Tate have drowned me in the dark side and now I DON’T EVER WANT TO LEAVE.
Istg Rory & Tate must put some sort of crack in their books because I am ADDICTED.
Trigger warnings???? Nope. They’re my Christmas List.
If he’s not a murdering, blood thirsty, kinky, hot psycho then I DON’T WANT HIM.
I could eat this shit up alllllllllll dayyyyy. chefs fucking kiss.
also do you ever read a book and see the name of someone you know and then instantly picture them as the character????? Because that’s what Rory did for me. There was a side character called Tommy… now he had wayyyy more dick in his personality than in his boxers. BUT he has the same name as my partner so INSTANTLY my brain was like ‘OMG TOMMY IS IN THE BOOK’ and now for the life of me I cannot get the imagine of Crew beating the shit out of Tommy OUT OF MY HEAD. At least I know that Crew would kill him if he ever hurt me xoxoxo
(Rory I need to know if you used my tommy as inspo because if you did then I can say that I literally have a real life book boyfriend… even though the tommy in the book was a HUGE PRICK… it still counts as they’re the same name???? This review has turned into absolute chaos, it’s almost 5am and I haven’t slept as I’ve stayed up all night reading filthy smut while Tommy is asleep next to me)

If they did anything to him, it'll be what makes the last bit of my sanity snap. I'd kill our entire family.

I've read tab** books before but this one didn't shy away. It literally can't get more tab** than that. This book has similar traits with other Rory's books that I've read. Dangerous vibes, snowy landscapes, flannels and a psychotic mmc. It couldn't get more addictive than that. The story was short, but so interesting. I was glued to the pages.

Rory writes the mmcs a certain way from what I've read so far. They are psychos, depraved and utterly unhinged. They bask in their obsession and possessiveness for their fmc. They are not cute and don't have any soft sides or redeemable qualities and yet I am obsessed with them. This was the same for me with Crew (mmc).

Cherish (fmc) was a very soft character. She lived a very secluded, harsh life and had a deep adoration for Crew. Although her softness, she had a darker side. I can't describe her as a strong fmc. She failed to stand her own ground and she was pushed around a lot, but considering her backstory and her other traits, I loved her.

Beware that this book is very, very tab**, very spicy and the mmc is the definition of a j*rk. It is also very intriguing.

Did I like it? Yes.
Would I reread it? Probably.

Wow 😳 😳 😳

This is def full of triggers. Dark and dirty. Love it.

Cherish (virgin) and her twin brother Crew (I think he's a virgin, insane as f*ck) love each other. They've been raised on some sort of evil mountain with their evil dad and their two other brothers. When evil dad tries to separate them by forcing Cherish to either marry someone else or he'll kill Crew, she has no choice but to agree. Crew goes absolutely ape shit. He feels betrayed by Cherish and when he finally snaps, he punishes her like way hard. Before he can kill her, he learns the truth and everyone must pay, by VERY gruesome means.

That's like the PG version of things. It's much darker and more gruesome than that. Noncon, somno, incest, murder, torture, some other stuff I probably forgot about.

I loved it, but it did feel a bit rushed. I usually prefer them short and to the point, but for this one I thought we needed a few more chapters.

Cherish and Crew were on fire.

One thing is - I don't see a book out there for Hollis and Kaden. So Kaden is another brother and his twin, Hollis, was sent away by their father and they all assumed she was dead. K & H are close like C & C are. So why is there no story for them?! 🤬

Also - DON'T JUDGE ME. Half the freaking world loved Cersei and Jamie in Game of Thrones. Y'all acting like I'm the only one! Ha!

I wanted to dive into the banned book baddies world for a while now and was thinking, it would be a smart move, starting of with a novella.

This was a wild ride! Exactly what I expected, this book is everything that’s unholy and really (really) taboo.
Read if you like your men unhinged and ready to kill and if you don’t mind your cheeks to turn red while reading the spicy scenes.

Kill your darlings is a twin romance and contains triggers, check them before you read this.
The book can be bought from the banned baddies website 🔥

Yeah.

This was not good. The writing was bad. The story was bad. Not only were the characters un-relatable, they were just awful. Cherish, our FMC was stupid, and sex crazier for her brother. That’s it. Her whole life consists of wanting to f*€k her brother. And this brother, Crew, that she puts on a pedestal, oh wow, what a piece of work. His whole personality consists of acting all tough and telling Cherish how rough and big and bad he is. How she can’t handle him. How he would rip her apart. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

“It’s a smell I can never get enough of and one I stroke myself to every night. Last night, it was her underwear that I took out of her bathroom trash last week. She was just coming off her period and there was a bloodstain on them. I buried my face in those panties and came within a minute. ”.
-I mean with magical literature like this… haha I don’t even know where to begin. Her bloodied panties?!? That’s what turns you on? And why is she throwing out panties? Has this girl not heard of doing laundry?

The only redeeming part was that they were actually brother and sister, twins. But even that didn’t do anything for me. The sex scenes were choppy and messy. I can’t remember one thing I liked about this book, which is funny because it took a while to find this book… and once I got it , I was confused at why I wanted it in the first place.

Twincest, violence, dark themes, and some smut lol

I'm not rating this book low because of its themes and trigger warnings. It was boring and failed to keep me engaged. Despite its short length, it took me days to finish because I kept dozing off every time I tried reading it. 😴

The story felt disconnected, and the pacing was weird, making it hard for me to connect with the characters.

Still, I'm not too mad about it, so I gave it a slightly higher rating. :)

The quickest 5 stars I've given in a while 🤤

For such a short read it had everything I needed! Spice, darkness, taboo... Love me some siblings taboo 🫠we don't judge 😌

Absolutely loved the story and how quick it progressed. Loved Crew's possessiveness and his love of Cherish and vice versa 💙

It would've been nice to find out what happened with Kaden in the end though...

There isn't much to say really but if you enjoy taboo... This book is definitely one you should have on your TBR 🫠

Kill Your Darlings by Rory Ireland is a dark taboo romance.

This book is an extreme taboo romance I would highly recommend reading the warnings before jumping in. This book is not for everyone.

I absolutely love Rory's books! I can't help but devour her books in one sitting. The relationship between Crew and Cherish is messy, toxic, and all consuming. I loved every second of it.

I would highly recommend this book if you like taboo romances, dark romances, and anti-heroes!

Another extreme taboo novella involving siblings, but make them twins.
HEHEHEHEHE 🩸😈
⚠️ PLEASE check the trigger warnings before reading this one. It is heavy in violence and taboo.

Well we are certainly having fun now. Okay, but this one was a little intense. The Duchannes are the most feared men in Switchblade Falls. They make their living running their own backyard moonshine distillery and showing no mercy for anyone who steps on their property or double crosses them. *Side note, I love moonshine. Daddy Duchannes is a ruthless motherfu*ker and he has made sure his kids learn to be just as ruthless and show no weaknesses. Only problem is that his youngest son will always have a weakness…his twin sister.

Cherish and Crew have always toed the line of their forbidden desires for one another. Unfortunately, they haven’t been very discreet and Daddy Duchannes takes measures into his own hands. Cherish will protect Crew at all costs. Crew thinks Cherish betrayed him in the ultimate way. Queue the obsessive, possessive, violent, and unhinged Crew. I mean, he goes off the rails.

Crew is hell bent on revenge and ready to unalive anyone who gets in his way. Some family members make it out and some don’t. So much to unpack in this short novella that takes off right from the start and doesn’t let up. The spicy scenes were, well, also intense, but in typical Rory fashion they were oh so good! 🥵 Cherish really knows how to detonate a ticking time bomb.

All of the men Rory writes are unhinged. Some a little more than others, but they all have that perfect “k!ll anyone who even looks at their girl wrong” temper and that just makes me melt into a puddle on floor.

1.5/5 ⭐ because this was rather boring, it failed to keep me actively engaged, and I feel lied to. One of the main themes presented is the forbidden nature of the love between the MCs who are twins. However, the execution of it feels shallow, to put it lightly.

If you removed every instance of brother/sister calling, you wouldn’t guess they’re related. Their relationship lacks the conflict supposed to show up in such dynamics, and feels artificial. From the beginning, they’re open with their supposed love for each other, but the book is trying to sell this idea how the MMC (Crew) is holding back because he’s so, so bad and can’t help himself but hurt her. There’s no explanation as to why or what, only that he’s bad. You just gotta accept he’s a bad guy. Also, there's no tension or chemistry.

Both characters feel very cartoonish, especially the MMC. He’s giving edgy vibes for the sake of edgy. Meanwhile, she’s trying to embody some sort of twisted innocence.

The side characters aren’t even worth mentioning, like the two other brothers, and their dad. Right, there was a fiancé, too.

Usually, I don’t touch upon the writing unless it’s terrible, but I’ll mention that the style errs on the choppy side. Think: The sun peeks over the horizon. I raise my hand to cover my eyes as I fumble with my bag in search for my sunglasses. One sun beam burns my retina. I wince.

This shows up in both POVs, so can’t excuse it as intended for a POV.

Do I recommend this? No.

Do I think the smut is smutting? No.

Another masterpiece from Rory....she is becoming Queen of taboo. I have yet to be disappointed in the slightest by anything she writes. This book is dark, disturbing, fucked up and Crew is all of those things and more. Hos twin sister Cherish is the only thing he cares for that keeps him hanging on. They'd literally kill and die for each other in the same damn breath. Their love and lust was intoxicating. The darkness surrounding their family and why shit was how it was only added more fuel to the fire and kept me enticed. Crew's desperation and unraveling restraint at the fear of losing Cherish and feeling betrayed was something I felt in my soul while reading. Jfc every book gets better and better

- FMC: Cherish
- MMC: Crew
- POVs Included: Dual POVs (Cherish, Crew)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Cherish and her twin brother Crew have always been close, but their dad thinks they are too close. He has a problem with it, not because of moral reasons, but because he believes it makes Crew weak to care for her and it makes him less effective with the dirty work (killing) his dad and family are mixed up in.

Everything comes to a head when their dad catches them almost having sex. So he threatens to kill Crew if Cherish doesn't agree to marry one of his competitor's sons so that they can merge businesses. Crew goes crazy when he finds out she plans to marry someone (he thinks she wants to and doesn't know she is forced to do it to protect him).

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

Pretty good. Quick and to the point, which I have come to appreciate with Rory/Tate books. Lots of violence and killing -- so the norm for this author duo. lol

Like most of their characters, Crew is violently obsessed with his twin Cherish and she is happy to be the object of his obsession. But that's what we read these for, right? So I love it.

The sex was hot once again, but more sexual tension and build up until the end when they are finally together.

I am curious about Kaden and Hollis. I hope we get a book about him searching for her. And I wonder if we will see Brielle (from Limerence) when we see Hollis.

Overall another good one from this duo. They might be kind of predictable, but when I'm in the mood for violent taboo, they always hit the spot. ;)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
CHARACTER CONNECTIONS:

Since Rory and Tate books have so many character connections that are hard to pin down, I'm going to start making a list at the bottom of each review for their books with character appearances so I can track them with past and future books.

The Duchannes:
- Dad (no name given) (deceased)
- Tristian (deceased)
- Kaden (twin to Hollis)
- Hollis (twin to Kaden)
- Crew (twin to Cherish)
- Cherish (twin to Crew)

Other Characters:
- Abernathy (bought Kaden's twin Hollis; also mentioned in Limerence as a human trafficker who bought Brielle)
- Bill Kerrigan
- Tommy Kerrigan (deceased)

Places:
- Switchblade Falls is a place that I don't recognize from another book yet

Existing Couples/Potential Couples Breakdown:
- Kaden + Hollis (m/f twins) (NO BOOK YET)
- Crew + Cherish (m/f twins) (Kill Your Darlings)

5/5 🌟 4.5/5 🔥

"Sometimes in life we're dealt impossible hands and the only way out is to kill your darlings."

Okay, wow, this might be my favorite Rory Ireland book! It has blood relations (incest) in it and it's pretty dark, so don't read if it's not your thing! <3

"I'll ruin you for the man you're supposed to be with. I'll make it so bad and so good at the same time that no one else will ever be able to satisfy my sister."

This book is about the Duchannes family, specifically 19 year old twins, Cherish and Crew. They have a really strong connection. Due to the murderous, craziness of the family, Crew is always seeking out the comfort from Cherish - especially at night when they cuddle. One day, they finally give in to their desire.

"Let me take your pain away, Crew. Give me your worst."

They're caught by their father and two brothers. In order to save Crew, she agrees to do something that absolutely ruins him and skews his image of her.

Three months later, the climax of the story happens! There's some torturing, murder, and lots of violence. But the crux of the whole thing? Crew is determined to have his revenge on Cherish. He does some pretty awful things... but she still wants him, no matter how much he hurts her.

I've always had the urge to violate her, use her as my own personal fucktoy, but now that I know what her blood tastes like, and now that she's betrayed me, I want more.

I love how obsessive they are with each other. They're twins, so maybe that makes it a little more taboo, which I really liked! And like I said, this book is pretty dark, so check triggers!! One more quote for y'all. ;)

"That's my little whore. You take your brother's cock so well."

SAFETY:
Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, unknown for hero but he does mention he never wants to have sex with another woman
Tropes: taboo (twincest, brother/sister)
Triggers: incest, violence, parental abuse, torture, murder (off page)
Kinks: noncon!, dubcon, somnophilia, primal play, knife play, blood play, hand necklaces, anal, degradation
HEA?: yes!

My bookshelves may contain spoilers.

Did I mention how much I love this author (including her writing partner Tate Monroe)?? No? Well…
I F-ING LOVE THESE AUTHORS!!!!
I am completely obsessed with these 2 “Banned Baddies” and will gladly grab anything they ever write❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kill Your Darlings not only does NOT disappoint but it was AMAZING!!! The twists and turns and surprises were exemplary even for this author.

Why this is 5*…..
I wanted to throw this book across the room. No, really! I was pissed. Super pissed! And questioning my insane loyalty to this author and all she writes! I even tried to go online to find spoilers because I couldn’t handle the heart wrenching turn of events.

I should have NEVER questioned my faith in this author. I am an idiot and I should have known better.
These twins have a major falling out, with a brief sort-of separation for 3 months. This had my stomach in knots imagining all the OW/OM sex the characters MIGHT be having (out of anger/ hate/ revenge)…turns out everything was ok…and there was NO OW/OM drama. Thank you Rory!! But this just shows how emotionally invested I was with these 2 siblings- only a great author can do that in such a short book❤️

Twin-cest is 🌶️hot AF🔥 and I don’t care what others think. This book is 🔥🔥SMOKIN’!!🔥🔥
There is NOTHING sweet about this author’s story or characters but I love her all the more for her boundary pushing abilities❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Also- will there be a book between twins Kayden & Hollis??

Dark Even for a Rory and Tate Novel

This book is so dark, even for a work by Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe. The dad was the biggest psychopath ever, and the kids (not really kids anymore since they're all over the age of eighteen) are equally messed up. It was a faint letdown that Cherish looked just like some of the other heroines in Rory and Tate's other books, but her personality was more... unique? I don't necessarily have a favorite character because I can't overlook all the flaws in personality based on how much I'd dislike them as real people, but the character I was interested in most was the oldest brother whose twin was sold off by psycho dad. I want to know more about him and find out if he rescued Hollis after all. Plus, reading a partial snuff book with the tortured death of psycho dad done by Crew and his older brother would bring a cruise line of cold happiness for me because psycho dad deserved to die from the start. This book is dark, taboo, disgusting, and the authors are quite ballsy for writing this. Serious kudos and mad respect for a novel this sick and twisted in all the wrong and right ways!

I was recommended this book by friends who know how much I love super dark and very taboo. Well this book did not disappoint on either 🖤

If you don’t like taboo themes then this book isn’t for you. But if your like me and love anything blood related 😉 go get this book now and give it a read.

This is dark and depraved and so delicious it’s sinful 😂 I was hooked from the first page and didn’t put it down. It’s a short novella story with so much that happens in a short space of time you want to keep reading just to find out what’s going on next.

This is about a seriously messed up family thanks to so many things that happen so you understand why what happens in the story happens 🖤

This is very descriptive with v!olent events and abu$e. I loved the writing style of the author and the way its fast paced. I’m now going to have to go and read everything by this author.

The only thing I’m disappointed in is the ending!! I just didn’t want it to end 😂 I need more more more of Crew and Cherish 🖤🥵
