This book went from zero to one hundred in 10 seconds. One minute Hope was struggling to make ends meet, Zach showed no interest in Hope as a woman, neither did Hope show interest in Zach, but before you knew it, Zach was dead set on wanting Ray as his son - because they looked alike. He didn’t seem to comprehend the possibility that Ray could be his son because of the similarities. Only nearer to the end does Zach realise he might be attracted to Hope. Urgh, this is a strange one. The excessive crying and shivering got on my nerves.
Poor William, the Butler, was roped into baking Hope’s cakes, delivering them, walking the dog, doing the school runs amongst his normal duties, which included cooking for Zach on a whim because Zach was ALWAYS hungry for some reason.
They got married by signing a contract in Zach’s office. No commissioner was there to marry them, they signed on Zach’s dotted line. And Hope stupidly agreed to his conditions: that he would continue his weekly activities in the apartment on the fifth floor, i.e. sleep with a different woman every night. They went to Zander’s house to introduce Hope to Zach’s family, but he didn’t do that, he treated the whole affair very weirdly. He went off to get himself a drink and left Hope with strangers to find her own way. Very bizarre. The whole time he had a ‘take it or leave it’ kind of attitude. I found his attitude very childish.
