can i just say that this was extremely satisfying? aria stayed true to herself with this life, finally executing her revenge with perfection and grace, and had a badass asher beside her all this time? yes!! the art is beautiful too. enjoyed it so much.

I remember reading this manhwa before but I think I may not have followed-up on the side stories since it was still ongoing at that time. But even if it’s a reread, The Villainess Turns the Hourglass is still as great as the first time I read it <3 It was really so good!

I always love revenge stories, but I don’t like reading their backstory. It’s because it’s usually tragic, and I want to retain my sanity so I always skip them. Luckily this story didn’t have a lot of that. It only has like 1 chapter detailing her tragic life and on how she ended up like that. There were some flashbacks here and there, but fortunately it was only short so it didn’t make me uncomfortable.

Another thing I love about this manhwa is the female lead. I usually don’t like villainess but she’s a different kind of villainess. She’s a total badass! And I am glad that she’s true to her character all throughout the story. Usually, villainess characters in an isekai or regression stories are only villainess at first but ends up being a saint (well, she has that title but I’ll let you discover why, hahaha) at the end, but the female lead on this story stayed true to her character till the end. She doesn’t tolerate bullsh*t and calls out people who are determined to step on her, but that doesn’t mean she’s out there killing innocent people. She also made sure to see through her revenge till the end. That said, the end of the antagonists were all satisfying to read. Yass!

Aside from her badass side, she also has her moments of weakness especially at the start of the story. She cried and got frustrated but still acknowledges her weaknesses. But despite all of that, she still continued to fight on, which helps to make her even stronger. And I really like reading that! Btw, I didn’t like how she always thinks of using people at the start of the story, but it’s a good thing that she outgrown that one and learns to really have a proper relationship with people. Her growth really is interesting to read.

The male lead on the other hand is a big green flag. I love seeing how dedicated he was to the female lead. His love for her can be a bit too much sometimes, but it felt natural for me. It feels like that’s just how it should be. The FL just deserves everything!

I also love the addition of family, especially highlighting FL’s relationship with her mother. At first I didn’t have a good impression of her mother because she seems a bit negligent. But as I read further, I get to see what kind of mother she truly is. So I certainly agree with most readers that she’s definitely the most accurate representation of real life mothers.

She may not be saintly and affectionate like most commoner mothers in manhwa, but you can’t deny that she really loves the FL in her own way. I was really glad we got to read her own perspective. So her not abandoning the FL after the father left them makes me appreciate her even more. It was also quite fun seeing their interaction together on planning on taking money from the antagonist family, lol.

I feel like the meeting with the biological father was anticlimactic that what I expected. But I guess it just proved that the FL doesn’t need her biological father’s family and influence to be strong. That she can definitely shine and succeed using her own strength. Go girl!

I also read some comments that the epilogue was dragging, but I don’t feel that way. In fact, I love that the epilogue has its different highlight story. The longer the story, the better for me, *wink.

This manhwa also has some sets of likable characters; each of them has unique qualities that I’m sure readers will also love. They definitely made this story even more entertaining!

As for the romance, I liked it. It was not too fast and definitely not too slow. For me it was done smoothly. And I like that! For me, this story just balances everything perfectly. We get to see heartwarming family scenes, sweet romance, and also the dirty and complicated side of politics.

Btw, I didn’t expect the addition of a god and felt like this story could still go on without mentioning one. The reincarnation of the other antagonist was also kind of unnecessary but after seeing the graphics, I can’t help but get interested since it is hinting at a romance to a certain young king. Hmmm, I wonder if the artist will write a spin off.

The antagonist Mielle was annoying, but it was rewarding seeing the FL winning every time so she really didn’t bother me that much. I guess I’m still a bit soft since seeing some of the criminals dying and such still makes me feel kind of bad especially on the brother. I can see that he mellowed down and really changed which I thought at first that it’s impossible. But thinking what the FL went through, he still deserved it.

If you’re looking for an amazing story with an equally amazing art and satisfying end to the antagonists, then The Villainess Turns the Hourglass is definitely a must read!

one of the top villainess stories i've read so far (i read the manhwa, not the novel itself tho).

i've seen this story before in my feed but i kept avoiding it, i forgot the reason why, but as i started it last night i regret why i waited for so long.

the way the story really kept it consistent with the villainess character is always refreshing and accepted in my book, aria as the villainess was really expressed well and her character has so much depth and personality that you can't help but get hooked on. i have read countless of villainess stories but most often that not, the main lead always end up being a shell figure with a mere title of villainess attached to it, but aria wasn't

i love the story, it made me laugh, giggle, frustrated, pissed off, etc etc. there weren't unnecessary misunderstandings, the mother figure was so good, the characters are made well.

plot-wise, as i look back and read other reviews, i realized that there were moments that i feel like it wasn't necessary or made the plot sway a little bit to the cliche story, but as i read it, it just felt okay and became a way to have more interesting (even not well-written) characters.

also, i personally do not often enjoy when the plot fast forwards to the couple having children already because as someone who adores romance, i often want to see their journey as a couple and bask in the romance they have. i have no qualms regarding the presence of the children, but i would like it better if the romance between the two of them without the real villains was given a few more chapters before introducing the children immediately.

but then again those are just some minor what-ifs.

overall the story was very interesting and intriguing that i can't put it down.

I dislike the mc , she thinks everyone in the world owes her , she is way crueler than mielle , she seduced her sister's fiance(if a villain do this everyone would hate them) , she cuts her maid's tongue in the first life , she killed isis , mielle , emma , and did not help her stepfather , she should be greatful the mielle's dad was kind enough to marry her mom , some people honestly doesn't deserve any kindness , not to mention the her mother leave mielle's dad alone and cheated on her when he doesn't have much money , mielle only killed aria but aria literary distroyed everyone , i cannot understand the point of this manhwa at all , its okay if the side character is evil but when i am evil and ruin everyone life its okay? And cheaters and bad people will win in the end? , mielle deserved better if i was her i would also kill aria , and in my opinion they only said mielle hated aria because of her background(poor) was to make her evil , like it was okay if you dislike your new stepfamilly but killing them...?no! , also mielle's dad and aria's mom should do something to make their childern get closer , also carin(aria's mother) was a very bad and uncarying mom/stepmom , like okay you marry a rich , you have money now so at least take care of your stepchildren and your own daughter !? When they want to kill cain and mielle she did not do anything , not to mention cheating on her husband and was with her ex lover.
About the romance....the ml has no personality , and....... aria fall for him for no reason? ...

Foi um final...interessante. Adorei que terminou com a Aria segurando a ampulheta, deu uma sensação de fechamento de ciclo. O contexto dela usar a ampulheta me deixou confusa, no entanto. A arte continuou belissíma, e o enredo foi satisfatório. Toda a coisa dos filhos deles é um paradoxo temporal que não faz sentido se for analisado, mas é só não analisar que tá ótimo. O roteiro bateu forte nesse fim, pareceu uma solução muito artificial para mim (e o lago que o princípe tinha mostrado para Aria, não era sagrado? ele não poderia ter ajudado?). Teve momentos cristões demais para mim, pessoalmente. Mas a Aria deu uma bronca em deus e eu superei.

Enfim, foi ok. Mas achei que a qualidade caiu em comparação com os anteriores.

Aria se me hizo un personaje tan soso. Para mí no era una villana, simplemente era alguien que quería vivir. Miel me estresaba tanto. Todo lo que hizo fue por su mala crianza y por meterle pura mierda en la cabeza sobre la gente pobre. Mmmm, Asher, otro personaje que solo tiene el título bonito. A parte de eso, solo sirvió como la pareja de Aria.
No puedo negar que me alegre con la muerte de Miel, pero solo por el hecho que no aparecería de nuevo. Xd La historia muy meh, nada destacable y los dibujos sí estuvieron bonitos.

- O lance da água que cura bem no momento oportuno, passei pano, pois depois de tanto sofrimento o deus tinha que dar um desconto.
- Descobrir que a Isis (irmã malvada do noivo da irmã da Aria / a que jurava que ia se casar com o Asher) reencarnou em croa e possivelmente seria o par amoroso do rei gostosão foi de cair o c* da bunda. Vaaaarias teorias passando pela minha cabeça!
- Uma coisa precisa ser ressaltada: como é maravilhoso pra caramba um casal que se comunica. É isso! 90% dos problemas se resolveriam se os casais (fictícios e reais) simplesmente conversassem.

Asher 🥹 tienes mi corazón, y Aria fuiste una excelente protagonista, muy inteligente, pensaste siempre con la cabeza fría.

No llego a las 5 porque realmente creo que alargaron mucho lo de la trama de Mielle, y siento que hubiera sido mejor terminar eso muchos capítulos atrás y concentrarse un poco más en ellos como pareja sin tener ese peso de la venganza encima.

En general un buen Historical Manhwa.

I felt like this series could have ended with season 2. That climax was great! Season 3 felt more dragged out in the name of revenge and spent a long time on the side story, which could have been shortened in half. Glad that it tied up all of the loose ends, but it was going overboard at one point.

This story started off so well and managed to sustain the momentum for the most part, but after 70 episodes or so, I felt like it kinda fizzled out. I loved it when she realised she needed to gain her own power and embarked on a mission to gain allies and wealth. Consider picking this up if you want a heroine who's unapologetically a villainess.

I was hooked from the beginning! I do love a good revenge story. The character designs were amazing but the costume designs were *chef's kiss*. My only gripe was probably they were trying to portray a 17 year-old but the heroine look like she's in her early twenties. Also, I know this is just me but, it couldn't hurt if there were more romantic moments.
