Book 1

It didn't read like book one. I enjoyed the story, although it felt a little like watching a Hallmark Mystery. It was not slow enough that I didn't want to finish it. What I didn't like was the constant reminders of what had happened before, repeatedly. I never read any of the prior books before this one because this was Book1. Now I have no desire to read the prior books. I may not see the whole picture but I see enough that I don't have to go threw the whole album. All Eyes on Me is not a Book 1, it's a continuation of two becoming one. I'm disappointed. I would have liked to start at the beginning, not in the middle.

A once well-known pop singer's body is found in the heat of the Las Vegas desert. There are no clues, no DNA, no motive apparent. There is, however, a bizarre disfigurement.

The local police have decided to call in Parker and Steele to consult in order to keep the media at low rumble. Parker and Steele are now private investigators, a new undertaking for them both.

As they investigate, they find more questions than answers. That's when the begin thinking there is more to this murder than first thought.

This was the first of a new series .. there are now 16 further adventures for these private investigators. This was just an okay read for me. Although the story line is a good one, it lacks any kind of credibility. A police department will not hand over such a high profile case to PIs. These PIs would also not be holding official press conferences. There were other instances that I felt were realistic in any sense. A lot of effort went into the relationship between the two main characters, but this was hyped as a mystery ... not a romantic suspense.

Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Entertaining

I found the first book in this series to be perfectly entertaining and totally worth the price, free. I was reminded, vaguely of the eighties detective couple, Hart to Hart. Miranda is reminiscent of Javanovich's character and I'm sure comparisons will be drawn to Eve and Roarke. Lanier's writing won't fare favorably with a comparison to Robb's, but in fairness, sometimes even Roberts isn't as good as Roberts. Bottom line? Did I enjoy the book? Yes. Will I buy #2? No. It's $5. My suggestion? Open your novels to Kindle Unlimited. If these were on Unlimited I'd read every one as I wait for the February release date of the next In Death installment.

I don’t think the police would give up a homicide investigation to a private investigator company, but it is fiction right? I also disagree with the way they collected evidence, but again, it is not a true real story. So from the beginnning to the middle of the story I found it a bit boring, but to the end it got interesting with the twist and turns ............

This was a rather good book, the first in a series with Miranda and Parker, taking place in Las Vegas. A famous singer named Ambrosia Dawn is killed. Who dunnit--her husband, her sister, or someone else?

It's OK , in the sense that I never considered not finishing it, but not much there. It reads, at times, as a 90s US cop TV show, which is cool, but I found the ending very underwhelming.

In the beginning, I will admit that I was a little confused on which was the story was going. At first, I thought this one person was the killer only to be disguised as an officer. Not until reading further did I realize I was completely off course and had to reread the beginning of the story.

Once I had all the character sorted out of who was who, the story picked up and I couldn't put the book down for the last two days. Finishing it was nice because of the little promising cliffhanger the author decided to leave.

I would highly recommend this book to a lover of crime stories. The course of action in this book didn't disappoint.

This was a fun read, with lots of interesting characters and a famous murder. Miranda and Parker make a good team, and a nice couple.

I didn't enjoy the suspicion they had of people who were obvious, but the killer in the end did make sense.

What didn't make sense was Parker not following Miranda when she went off to check out some things before they left. He was already worrying about losing her due to their dangerous work, so letting her go out and knowing she'd be working on the case just doesn't fit.

A good mystery for a day on the beach.

What a storyline!

This was a great storyline, a real page turner. You just had to keep going chapter after chapter. I'm sure this is going to be a very popular series. Miranda and Parker make a unique team being married and fighting the good fight trying to get to the truth. Loved the Book! Looking forward to the next adventure with them.

Flat

I think it was so flat and predictable. The characters didn't show any emotions and the end was so quick

Great suspense. This story kept me actively engaged throughout the book. The relationship & interactions between Parker & Miranda are captivating. The other characters keep the story interesting & diverse. Excellent book.

Good book, not as exciting as I thought it would be. But still very good, especially well written. I did not know the author, but it appears that she can write well.

This isn’t a bad book but it’s far from a fantastic one. It is barely a mid-pack one.

The writing is basic, the word choices simple, the plot straightforward as if Ms. Lanier is writing for an early teen rather than adult audience. Miranda and Parker are so sweet on each other, readers need to beware they don’t develop diabetes. Their arguments and disagreements don’t ring true, sound more contrived as if someone told Ms. Lanier to insert some conflict and she created these phony sounding spats.

Ms. Lanier can’t let Miranda enter a room without describing it in great detail and she can’t run across another character without detailing every stitch of clothing they’re wearing.

There were a fair number of production errors in this book, the most obvious one is regular flip-flopping between Kingman and Kingston, Arizona. Someone somewhere on the road between writing this book and releasing it to the public should have caught that.

At the very end, Ms. Lanier has a ‘Dear Reader’ note that tries to entice readers into buying the next book. Sorry, Ms. Lanier, it didn’t. And after the Copyright notice and disclaimers, she practically says she writes books just to make money. If the shortcomings of the book itself hadn’t turned me off to reading more of her work, this would have.

If you’re looking for a top-notch mystery, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a book to fill a few empty hours, this one might do the job. And that’s about all it’s good for.

Another 1½ star (disappointing) book.

We took the author’s word for it, and having enjoyed well enough her first in the Miranda’s Rights five-book series (“Someone Else’s Daughter”), we thought we’d similarly try Lanier’s first in her Miranda and Parker Mystery set, “All Eyes On Me.” Firstly, we resent the author’s “numbering” and titling scheme, as “Eyes” is just a mere continuation of the earlier set (in which she was a new PI working for Parker); thus this novel had some horrible spoilers about issues left over from the first series. Moreover, at a mere 180 or so pages, with like 30 blank pages due to some 59 chapters (many of which were a single page), this new tale is really just a novella. The plot involves the murder of a popular Las Vegas-based female singer, but when the police immediately hired Parker’s firm to investigate, CEO Parker lets Miranda take the lead on the case, an unlikely development. Naturally she does manage to stick with it to a fairly trivial resolution.

Having now read two full-length novels and three short stories about these two protagonists, we agree with many other reviewers that these stories are best regarded as amateurish and mediocre knockoffs of J.D. Robb’s superb Eve Dallas prolific set of “In Death” novels. Lanier has a lot of catching up to do to even approach the quality and suspense of those works. And by now, we totally get that Parker and Miranda form the world’s deepest mutual admiration society, about which we’re already tired. Sorry.

Miranda & Parker are back but will Miranda still have the edge to do this type of work. Parker almost lost her and he watches her like a hawk. They are consulting for the Las Vegas Police Dept and Miranda is the lead as she won the dice toss. A well know n singer has been murdered but the worst part is that someone took one of her eyes. Miranda and the Sgt in Charge Sid O Toole don't really get along and she just wants to find justice for Ambrosia and she will find the killer. But there are so many suspects and she rushes into everything without thinking it through and Parker is trying to let her find her way but he worries that she is pushing herself too much. So who did it the bodyguard who is sleeping with her sister? The chef that had to break up with her boyfriend or the husband who loved her too much? Just as she thinks she knows the answers a new suspect is found but who can she trust as too many people wanted her dead?
A good read. Miranda does seem too eager to want to prove herself and thank heavens for Parker as he is the calming force in her life.

This flaccid mystery features married investigators improbably hired to assist the Vegas Police Department in the perplexing murder of a famous singer. Props for a unique M.O. but that is about all. Neither Miranda nor Parker are believable and their romance is just to gushy and mushy. The doer(s) are easy to identify early on. The book seemed quite choppy moving from the happy coupling to the grouchy cops to the suspects. That a major police department would pass on a big case in their home town and actually pay private investigators to do the heavy lifting was just unbelievable. the conclusion was simplistic and there was little suspense. I am more than willing to suspend disbelief if the ride is entertaining and payoff satisfying. But unfortunately, there are no ayes, just nays.

Another excellent foray into the Parker/Steele investigatory adventurers. The characterisation standard has been maintained, the additional characters for this tale fitted in nicely bringing their own rough edges and traits to either gel with or clash against those of Parker-Steele. I've read many in this genre and worked out before too long the potential perpetrator and enjoyed waiting to see if I was right (almost). I'll be returning to Linsey's writings again no doubt.

I have read every one of the Miranda Rights books and enjoyed them so much. I recently finished reading the first book in the Miranda and Parker series. As always Linsey Lanier never disappoints. Loved the mix of mystery and romance. I enjoyed seeing the struggles that both Miranda and Parker both have with finding balance in there life and work. Highly recommened! Can't wait for the next book.

All Eyes on Me

This is the first book in a very long series and I really enjoyed it. It is a very good mystery. It keeps you in suspense until the very end. They do not give away who the KILLER is until the very end. I recommend this book. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Ehh, its better than YA

Definitely not Pulitzer Prise winning, but a well written story. I don’t know if this is a spinoff of another series, but the bits and pieces of characters backstory were a little irritating because I couldn’t see how the information helped move the story along. It was free, so I don’t feel like I wasted anything reading it.

Back to the grind

It is a goodish read. Character building could have been more detailed so that you invest more in terms main protagonists. Overall it's a bit too fluffy to make it a really good thriller and a little to simplistic for an edge of the seat whodunit

This book is okay. It wasn’t as exciting as some books are but if you want a book that you don’t mind putting down to get some things done it is a good read. Interesting and will keep your interest to the end but not you don’t have to finish it in one sitting.

It was entertaining to read. It kept me wanting to learn more about the characters and wondering what happened. The ending was somewhat predictable. I disliked the constant repetition of how handsome Parker was and how much he loved Mirando.

Okay

This book came across kind of corny. The lead character Miranda Steele was made to be a bad-ass but just didn't hit the mark. It was more her own thinking and dialogue to herself than her actions. Wouldn't recommend
