Rate this book
What does having OCD feel like?
How does suffering from OCD affect a child's life?
How does having OCD impact the child's family?
Most importantly, what can be done about it?

All these questions are answered in Dr. Jonathan Kushnir's fascinating, educational, and moving book, How I fought my OCD - and won.

This book describes the journey of Ben, a teenager, and his courageous fight against this difficult disorder.

The book accompanies Ben from where his OCD begins to show its first nasty buds. It continues through his therapeutic process of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy until his return to a healthy, happy, and mostly uninterrupted life.

As part of his struggle, Ben receives support and encouragement from his loving parents and is guided with patience and dedication by his therapist, Joe.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is common in childhood and teenage. It can be highly challenging for kids that have OCD, teenagers with OCD, and their families, with a significant negative impact on the child's everyday life and well-being.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder generally consists of two facets. These are,

Obsessive thoughts these are repeated unwanted thoughts and urges that often cause significant distress.Compulsive behaviors, which Ben performs in an attempt to get rid of his obsessive thoughts and urges and reduce the distress they causeBen experiences both of them as part of his child OCD.

Through Ben's story, you will learn how OCD manifests itself and impacts the patient and their family. You will also see how a course of treatment helps Ben to bravely challenge his OCD, along with the support of his parents, friends, and therapist. This short book is written to be relatable to young people with OCD. Still, adult readers can also benefit from it, as the manifestation of OCD and the course of CBT treatment are similar for adults and kids alike.

Ben's story is an engaging fictional depiction of one course a treatment can take.

It is hard, almost impossible, to get rid of OCD altogether. Still, it is very much possible to learn how to overcome it.
