The Spectacular Spider-Ham is back and just in TIME to save the past, present, and futurein this original graphic novel for younger readers!
It's just a normal day in the life of Peter Porker, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Ham! Keeping New Yolk City safe from dastardly villains is no easy feat, especially when the Green Gobbler from the year 2099 travels back in time to team up with his present-day counterpart. Talk about a pair of rotten eggs! What's worse, Spider-Ham gets flung into the future, making it impossible to stop the duo's evil plot. He'll have to team up with heroes from all across time if he wants to make it back and save the day.
But what is New Yolk City to do without its greatest defender? Luckily for everyone, Mary Jane Waterbuffalo and Black Catfish are here to pick up the slack while Peter Porker is messing around in the time stream. Can the two hold out long enough for Spider-Ham to return, or will the Green Gobbler finally claim his spot at the top of the roost?
Spider Ham is back and just in time to save the past, present and future. What I like is that there are other dimensions. What could’ve been better is that Miles Morales has more sentences.
Spider-Ham is facing off with the Green Gobbler, when a Green Gobbler 2099 crashes the party with a time travel device. Instead of dealign with both Gobblers, Spider-Ham accidentally triggers the device which transports him to different times and universes in the multiverse. Can he rally some of the other versions of himself, get back to his own time, and help save the city from multiple Green Gobblers now on the loose?
A little Spidey-verse fun for readers. I like the Spider-Rex. I can totally see their being a spin-off from this spin-off to feature more adventures with Spider-Rex. While Spider-Ham is accidentally hurtling through time and space, his girlfriend MJ Waterbuffalo along with Black Catfish rally some help to deal with the Green Gobblers, so we also get a fun montage with the Scavengers (animal versions of the Avengers). This is a fairly quick read, and granted the main characters and goofy plot, I can see this being an excellent pick for reluctant readers.
Notes on content: Language: None Sexual content: None Violence: Some cartoon superhero battles (no punches are actually shown on page), no one is seriously hurt, mostly just tied up. Ethnic diversity: N/A all characters are animals of no clear ethnic background. LGBTQ+ content: None specified Other: Spider-Ham is slow to listen to instructions and this gets him into trouble (thus the time traveling).
Spider-Ham stumbles upon a device that sends him not merely off into time, but into different multiverses to meet his alternate self and his arch nemesis, Green Gobbler, of that multiverse. To top it off, as he skips into each multiverse, he ends up transporting not only his alternate selves into each new multiverse, but also the entire team of Green Gobblers from each time period goes too. Thankfully, Spider Ham has his girlfriend and friends to lend him some helping hands.
I enjoyed the humor in this, and the many versions of Spider Ham and the Green Gobbler were pretty entertaining.
