From the publisher who gave you the immensly popular James ussher's Annals Of The World: - John Bunyan's personal memoir - His last sermon - Special sayings of Bunyan, about death and judgment, the joys of heaven, and much more - Bunyan's personal account of his life before he accepted Christ - The writer's account of his time spent in prison - "The Barren Fig Tree" - "The Holy War Made by Shaddai Upon Diabolus for the Regaining of the Metropolis of the World"
John Bunyan, a Christian writer and preacher, was born at Harrowden (one mile south-east of Bedford), in the Parish of Elstow, England. He wrote The Pilgrim's Progress, arguably the most famous published Christian allegory. In the Church of England he is remembered with a Lesser Festival on 30 August.
I have read this book a couple of times to my children, and love it. We also have it on CD and it is almost like listening to Scripture being read. I had also read a couple of children's versions when they were younger so we were familiar with the story.
This is a good resource for the book Pilgrim's Progress. While it uses the original version of the content (making it a hard read for younger students), it does have some good resources for teaching and homeschool use (i.e. chapter questions, truths to ponder, background information).
I have been able to use this in conjunction with other materials to create a curriculum that works in my middle school classroom.
Great for families to listen to story on CD together, then at the end of each short section work through the questions that consolidate understanding and require students to think about their own responses to the spiritual truths brought out using this timeless classic story and the biblical passages Bunyan was referring to.
