Life is no fairytale in the Cherished Galaxy, but I still ended up a queen. No, literally. A wicked king's deathbed curse places the planet Eralis' crown on my head. Now I have to fulfill the dead king's terms or face my execution -- including finding four husbands on a planet that treats females like second-class citizens. I'm a simple travel nurse with a penchant for good beer, hot one night stands, and a large helping of commitment phobia. The beer is crap on this backwater planet, but the aliens are fire, and it's impossible to keep my hands to myself… except I don't want to run afoul of the misogynistic laws on this dying planet which might chain me down to a creep. For this reason alone, I can't wait to skedaddle and head off to new horizons when my job on this dying planet ends. The last thing I want is to rule this dump. With death the only other option, I forge ahead. Blindly, stupidly, dodging assassination attempts from the dead king's angry sons… and, oh yeah, trying to find four husbands to secure my crown and my life. Thankfully, that might be the easiest issue on my plate. The flirty palace guard has been tempting me for months, and there's also the union sympathizer that stirs up political trouble along with my southern territory. After them stands the stoic bodyguard and his, erm, interesting attachments. Oh, and let's not forget the old king's son, the former prince assassin... and the embarrassing subject of my last one night stand on this planet. He's either here to help me, or kill me, but he's one thousand percent trouble. I really need a good drink…
First of all, I truly enjoyed this! The premise, the characters, the relationships, the snappy dialogue. I wanted to give it a rare (for me) 5 stars.
It’s just that it seems unfinished as you get into the story or at least that it needed more editing. Not just spelling and punctuation, but for continuity too.
Having said that, it’s still a great read. I do recommend it.
3.5 star I really liked the MC - particularly her attitude with the king (takes no BS) and in how she dealt with everything that happened. The banter was good and while RH generally isn't my favourite trope it works here because the heroine was strong and independent enough to carry it off. Each of them is their own person and remains a distinct individual that brings something unique to the relationship.
It was a very good book but I feel like the end needed a bit more. For a standalone book there wasn’t any great ending. SPOILERS**** I wish there was more afterwards with Mazon and Tomorn and I wish we saw more of the plans and improvement of the planet, just to give a more complete ending.
This was a lot more fun than I was initially expecting. It's been a while since I read alien romance and this was a great one to reinvigorate my interest in the sub-genre.
It had the perfect amount of humor, sci-fi, royal intrigue, with a touch environmental responsibility...and of course spice! It is an alien reverse harem after all.😅
This is the 3rd book in a series of stand-alone books. I will definitely be checking out some of the author's other works.
This was a great book for Scifi RH romance lovers. It has a great storyline and is a complete standalone in the series, which is good because I have not yet read the first two of the Cherished Galaxy series, but I can't wait to read them now! Her characters were well fleshed out and she does a great job of writing four love stories in one book. Her grasp of humor and suspense are very well utilized in this book, not to mention heat! If you are offended by aliens with extra *ahem* equipment, this is not the book for you. And while there is no crossing of swords in this book, it is mentioned in the past of two of the characters.
My one complaint is that the author didn't spend enough time describing the different alien species well enough for me. A lot of what they look like is left up to the reader to fill in. A minor complaint all things considered because it allows you to make the aliens look like anything you want.
I fully recommend this book to anyone who enjoys RH Scifi alien romance books with high heat levels.
