Tsutomu Nihei (弐瓶 勉 Nihei Tsutomu, born 1971) is a Japanese manga artist. His cyberpunk-influenced artwork has gained a strong cult following. He has a relatively large community of fans in Germany where his manga Blame!, NOiSE and Biomega were published by Ehapa. Blame! was also published in France and Spain by Glénat, in the US by Tokyopop and in Italy by Panini Comics.

At first he studied architecture and later it is shown up in his manga works with drawing huge structures. This became one of his general theme that makes his manga unique. His works are usually in black and white. He is also an avid fan of the video game series Halo, as he mentions in his commentary section in the Halo Graphic Novel.

Leer a Tsutomu Nihei siempre es un placer (salvo en Knights of Sidonia) porque su imaginario de ciencia ficción es único gracias a su conocimiento de la arquitectura. Biomega no es tan redonda como Blame pero sigue siendo una obra notable, por su ambientación, por sus personajes y por el dominio de la trama. Aquí se meclan elementos del terror también con un ritmo más pausado (proque tiene más diálogos que otras obras suyas). Una lectura muy entretenida obligada para los fans de la ciencia ficción y el manga.

Bon j'adore le style de Nihei ! Mais il faut bien l'avouer c'est rarement très clair... on a vaguement une idée de l'histoire. On n'a quasiment jamais de contexte...
Alors vous serez surpris de savoir qu'ici on sait à qu'elle période ça se passe ! On a des informations au fur et à mesure de l'histoire ! Il y a même des notes de bas de case !!! 🤯
Et j'ai adoré cette plus ou moins reprise du virus zombies à la sauce Nihei.
Ça pourrait même s'avérer être un prequel à Blame. On y retrouve des créatures déjà vu. Mais cette fois on sait ce qu'elles sont ! Et (plus ou moins) comment !
C'était un vrai plaisir de retrouver le génie du dessin de Nihei, avec une scénario intelligible ! Et des personnages qui ont des noms, et qu'on peut distinguer !
Je suis déjà fan. J'attends la suite !
Pour ceux qui auraient peur que ce soit trop clair. Ne vous inquiétez pas, il y a plein de choses encore très évasives ! ^^
