When college student Madeline Swanson stumbled into the wrong job interview, I immediately wanted her…on her knees.
My offer is simple–I’ll cover her tuition, living expenses and a generous shopping budget. In return, she signs a contract, making herself available at my request–on my arm or in my bed, fulfilling all my darkest desires.
She says no now, but I’ll pursue her relentlessly until she signs the contract. Then, not only will I make her mine, I’ll own her…
Evelyn has been telling stories in her head for as long as she can remember. She lives on the west coast with her family, and a menagerie of pets. She loves lattes, all things Disney, gaming, and writing dark, wildly sexy stories that give readers all the feels.
Dear author, google "consent". Another badly written BDSM romance. It's 2023 and authors still write like it's 2010? Madeline has no agency. She is forced and bullied into submission. And during the whole story we never really get the info that she was able to negotiate anything. Madeline mistakenly goes to an interview that turns out to be a mistress audition. The "sexy billionaire" is nothing but pushy and basically creepy dude who thinks that because he is handsome he can do anything to a woman. I am not sure how he is a billionaire since he has no ability to read a room or communicate. Evidently, the lady has come to the interview by mistake, she is shocked and what does he do? forces himself on her, then keeps pursuing her knowing she did not give that kind of relationship any consideration and does not have any experience with being a mistress. As for Madeline, her only driver is the fact that he is handsome. Thta's it. Her POV mentions "fear" several times. She is not into BDSM, but the hero forces her into a relationship, makes her sign a contract... that does not incluyde specifics! He bullies her every time she does not feel comfortable doing something. My way of highway. And she is too weak to just tell him to love off. The book goes against BDSM rules so much it looks more like a dark rmance than a BDSM or sexy one. Madeline was collared without her consent and ... nothing. It was just skipped. The same goes for some sexual acts she did not consent to and were foreced on her by Evan. Again, the heroine mentions fear and the author just glazes over. And the incessant ultimatums!!! Do it or we are done. Be a doormat or we are done - just as well for this book. Ladies, nobody should collar you, take any part of your body or paddle you without your prior consent and enthusiasm. This book is so bad in that regard it should be criminal. It's not romance, it's abuse.
This was book 1 in the "Filthy Billionaires" series. College grad student Madeline Swanson stumbled into the wrong job interview. Evan Kohl is interviewing for a mistress when he sees Madeline he knows he has to have her. Evan is a hot sexy rich British dominant alpha. This was a good read Madeline had issues being a mistress because of her father. Evan had issues letting go of control because of his father. I did want to slap her for signing the contract without better negotiating for herself. The sex scenes in this book was hot and they had a lot of it. We did get some background on both MCs but I wanted more and Maddie had some supportive friends. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I was actually surprised when I saw that this book was released in 2023. It read like a 2010-2013 era of BDSM romance. Which wasn't a bad thing but did have me looking for something to make it feel a bit more modern, if that makes sense? Overall I thought it was a fun book, and definitely had some good steamy parts.
It did read a little too fast paced at times though. And some things felt thrown together without much fleshing out or follow up, but that could just be a me issue since the book was only one POV and that often leaves me feeling like I missed things. There were things though that didn't leave me feeling like they were concluded. Such as Madeline's dad, he was mentioned more than once in the beginning and apparently had money, yet that was never brough up again. It just felt like there was more to come from that but then nothing ever did.
Overall, I enjoyed this one and I'll most likely move on with the series and read the next books.
Have you ever wanted to read 50 Shades of Grey starring Elon Musk? No? Of course you don’t because that would be horrifying yet here we are. So many awful things happen in this book but by far the worst is when he feeds her yoghurt with his fingers
"He's broken me. He's forced me to look at a part of myself that I never knew existed. My last shred of resistance has been obliterated. I am his. Unequivocally." 🫶🏻

Review: Before I review the book, I would like to state I received this book as an ARC. I received a notification to post my opinion on the release day, having missed the day the ARC was shared, but the worst was that I do not remember signing up for it. However, I'm glad I got to read the book anyway.
Dark Romance is a relatively newer genre for me. While I've read the Twisted Series, it's only mildly dark and comes nowhere close to the actual genre. But this book has opened up possibilities for me I wasn't sure existed. And I see myself reading more dark romances in the future.
Madeline Swanson is a broke astrophysics student who gets roped into an interview for a mistress, misguided by one of her friends. The pay is incredible, and her potential partner is one of the hottest men she's come across, but she'll never be a mistress, a whore, the reason her parents divorced. But when the darkness calls, she may be too tempted to give in to it.
The story is good enough, but the ✨scenes✨ are uh-mazing! I've never thought smut could be written THAT well, but I might be rating it TOO WELL because of my inexperience. However, the story is good too, however cliché it may be. It's not rushed, but it's not too slow either. The book is a good enough read for those trying to venture into the dark romance arena.
If you like them hot and heavy, dark and intense, this is your thing.
Madeline is a student at CalTech, when she goes for an interview as a mistress for a billionaire, she gets much more than she bargained for. Evan Kohl is top of his field, rich, beautiful for a man, and has a dark personality.
This is a great read, one I was so addicted too, I read it in a day. The characters are very interesting and different, they are chemistry driven and make the pages curl.
A well deserved four stars
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
“Enter. This way,” the man says, his deep, accented voice stopping me cold.
Turning somewhat sheepishly, I try to school my features. I don’t want him to see my fear, my uncertainty, so I plaster on a shaky smile, lifting my eyes to meet his. He stands beside the window on the raised platform. Sucking in a sharp breath, I freeze, my heart thumping wildly. I’m stunned—actually stunned—by his beauty.
At least six foot three, he’s young with dark brown hair and blue, blue eyes. He’s hot. Like, crazy hot. It takes everything for me not to squeak and run out of the room, which I would do, if I weren’t rooted to the spot.
He smiles and holds out his hand. “I’m Evan.” His smooth, British accent trickles down my spine and makes me feel a little light-headed. I blink, struggling to regain my faculties.
Then I totter up to him like a newborn foal, managing to climb down into the sunken living room, cross it and climb the two steps up to the platform to him. Quickly licking my lips and working moisture into my mouth, I take his proffered hand.
“Madeline,” I say in a strangled voice.
His grip is strong, and a weird jolt of energy rushes through me at the contact. I jerk my hand back. My cheeks flush hot, and I’m suddenly embarrassed, though he doesn’t seem to notice. Or maybe he just doesn’t care.
His spicy scent surrounds me as he pulls his hand back and slips both in his pockets. His smell is heavenly. I draw in a quick breath. What the hell is wrong with me? I’ve never been this affected by a stranger before.
Are you ready to meet Evan Kohl? He's definitely ready for you!!
🔥❤️🔥 The book that took KindleVella by storm! 🔥❤️🔥 THE MISTRESS CONTRACT by Evelyn Austin
Then, not only will I make her mine, I’ll own her…
I think I’m reading a different book then every else. Because I thought it was too slow, too long. It took nearly 9 chapters before there was something said that was more then 5 words, skipped to many pages. Too much good old mr Grey and too little something new. And while Anna had some backbone, Maddy just didn’t. And Evan is toxic, selfish and wrong on so many levels. She has principles about her trust fund but no principles about becoming a mistress/prostitute..........your body is my property........so wrong..... After reading the blurb I expected a book from his POV......
This was a fast paced, very spicy, and a fun read!
Evan and Madeline meet when she shows up to interview for what she thinks is an assistant position. She meets Evan and soon finds out the position is to be his mistress. They have undeniable chemistry and he will stop at nothing to have her.
I loved Madeleine and Evan together! Hot hot hot! I do wish it would’ve been a little longer and touched on more of their relationship, his past, her dad. But overall I really enjoyed this book! I can’t wait to read Lexi’s story! Definitely recommend reading this if you want a quick and spicy read!

Thank to NetGalley, Evelyn Austin, and Silver Griffon Associates for this ARC!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
*Reviewed on NetGalley and Goodreads. Will review on retail once published!
The book had a great storyline, it was well written and had some brilliant interaction between the characters. The characters themselves were well developed and I really enjoyed getting to know them.
This was a "WOW" read for me, it was a romantic and sexy read and one I really enjoyed!
It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!
Pretty good, sort of like a 50 shades / BDSMish spoof and billionaire romance, except this heroine, Maddie is more assertive. Evan is the strikingly sexy and accomplished aerospace Dom, afraid of commitment, afraid of caring for someone, but ultimately falls for Maddie, a first in line of contracted mistresses. Maddie is in her last year of aerospace engineering in college and meets the dashing Evan by chance, believing she's interviewing for an admin position rather than a mistress.
Lots to like: - Evan pursues Maddie relentlessly; he's crazy about her - The spice was hot and prolific, quasi BDSM style (power exchange than anything that truly follows the rules of SSC) - Great writing and quick pace - Charm of former Harlequin romances but more erotic
Some challenges - Only one POV, Maddie's, which felt one-sided since the author didn't imbue Evan's thoughts through Maddie's perspective - Sex was hot but somewhat repetitive - Not very original; i've read so many of these kinds of books, and as such, I found myself losing interest - 3rd act break up - Groveling (i hate it)
In the end, I skipped ahead since story wasn't really going anywhere inventive.
Still, a good read if you want a jealous-possessive hero in denial of his feelings, claiming an assertive (at least until she succumbs to their lifestyle) woman, and groveling to have her return to him.
Thank you to the author and the publisher, Silver Griffon Associates, for sharing an e-ARC of this book with me on NetGalley!!
Trigger Warning: bdsm, anger issues
“When I possess a woman, I possess her completely. She is mine to cherish. To protect. To spoil. To pleasure”
“Evan Kohl is here to conquer - veni, vidi, vici- and that’s exactly what he is doing”
What have I just read ??? I don’t think I have words for this book. Wow !!!!! Listen, I’m a fan of dark romance books. I can’t say this book was dark dark but it was definitely on that side of the genre. A billionaire entering contracts with women to be their mistresses and a young college student who suddenly, unintentionally finds herself in line for the position, only … when she figures out what it is she is applying for, she changes her mind but he is already obsessed with her. Nothing can go wrong from two people entering that kind of relationship right? It’s not like she will fall for him! If you know what I mean, you have an idea about what’s gonna happen. Very very spicy, very very hot. Definitely for fans of very possessive kind of romances where you have to obey … no matter what. But what do you do when the alternative of completely loosing your freedom is loosing a man you are starting to need as air ??? Evan was … possessive, an alpha male, more than a bit grumpy and the perfect example of the trope “no one touches her but me” … I liked it. A bit of anger issues and he makes for the perfect dark man people will fall for. And the tension and chemistry between them … I felt it, deep in my bones. Very intriguing and after that ending … MORE THAN A LITTLE INTERESTING IN THE SEQUEL !!!!
“I am telling you now, Madeline, I will own every inch of you … There can be no boundaries between us”
The Mistress Contract was a fast paced, super hot story on the dark(ish) side that I devoured in one sitting. No matter how mad I get at a hero, and trust me, I was enraged by some of Evan's actions, I LOVE books that get the crazy emotions in me going while reading. See, Evan is trying to hire a mistress (yeah I laughed about that a bit because seriously men amirite?!), and the moment Madeline comes to an interview, he wants her. The thing is, Madeline didn't come to that interview thinking about getting hired as his plaything, and the moment she found out, well, she's not down with that. However, Evan wants her, and what he wants he gets so game on. I will say the sparks are flying like crazy, but he has a past that keeps him from trying to catch feelings so what could possibly go wrong?! Like I said, I devoured this super sexy, full of emotional goodness dark(ish) read in one sitting! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
ARC Review of The Mistress Contract by Evelyn Austin * * * * * Prepare to be dominated and broken in by this erotic read where you will sign away your time for pleasure.
She needed money. Trying to make it on her own and getting by working at the university coffee shop was not going to cut it if she wanted to reach her dreams. When her friend Sam tells her of a magnificent job interview, Madeliene wastes no time going to the interview. She should have looked at the advertisement. Yes, it was for Evan Kohl, handsome and rich...and a man who has connections. But he's not looking for someone to fill in as someone on his general staff. He wants a mistress. No matter the mistake as she flees the interview, he has his sights on our girl. He rocks up to her class. Her job. He's everywhere. He wants to possess her and consume her, break her into signing her life into his hands. Luxurious apartment and clothes aside, Madeliene is taking on more than she bargained for from this cold man. There is more than to what he is letting on. A past. A haunting. It is what is keeping him from admitting he wants her as much as she wants him. It's dog collars, bondage, naughtiness in public settings and heartbreak! Will Evan break her to his submittion, or break her heart?
I love how our heroine was not taking any crap from him ans challenged Evan. I would have been mortified by Evan's act of declaration! Very naughty and erotic.
This was a fun and spicy read that was fast paced once things got going. I loved Evan and Maddy although I do wish I got to see more of Evan’s side of things. He was definitely all alpha, possessive and hot! Yes please! Overall I really liked the storyline and it was a read I enjoyed greatly. The ending has left me wanting more and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Can a contract exclude emotions? What happens when you fall in love? Evan Kohl is a man who fears love, but desires to have a dominant relationship with a woman who is beautiful, smart, and of course submissive. Madeline is a graduate student looking for a way to afford her graduate studies, pay her rent, and allow her to eat something other than ramen noodles. Madeline goes to an interview for what she believes to be an assistant, only to find out that it is to be Evan's mistress. After negotiations she accepts a position. Their relationship has many ups and downs, but ultimately the lines are blurred and emotions, love, enters into the equation. Will they move forward or will they terminate their contract?
Of note, this story was originally released on Kindle Vella. I read it there, and now am reading an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book. I love this trope and was glued to the book from the start. Evan is hot and very alpha and unreachable at first. Once his new mistress - under contract enters his life, that starts to change. I really liked the heroine Madeline. She’s sweet and caring and vulnerable. The sex scenes are scorching and unique highly recommended
Boy oh Boy, can you imagine desperately needing a job and walking into an interview your college roommate set up for you only to find out it’s not a normal job but a Mistress! Well that is exactly what happens to Madeline. Shocked and horrified, she tells the man off and leaves, not realizing the man is Evan Kohl, the aerospace Billionaire. But Evan isn’t the type of man to take no for an answer. He’s made up his mind he wants Madeline and he sets out to win her over, after all with his dominant personality and his money he usually gets what he wants. But Madeline isn’t a pushover and doesn’t handle being told what to do by anyone. Especially by a man that wants a paid mistress at his beck and call with no feelings or emotions to be involved.
This book had me hooked from the very start. Different as night and day yet sparks and flames follow them every time they are in the same room. Both know the type of life/relationship they want. Can Evan convince Madeline to be his submissive and accept his dominance or will Madeline stand her ground and show Evan there is more to a fulfilling life than just dominance?
The BDSM lifestyle is in the forefront of the storyline so be advised. For me it was a great read and I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 of the series.
Trust needs to be the foundation of any working relationship. Trust between Evan and Madeline means complete sexual control, obedience, dominance, and submission in all forms of their play. Their contract strictly stipulates that physical feelings and pleasure are the only ones allowed, anything more is considered taboo. But it’s very hard to stick to the rules when a person repeatedly gets broken down to their most primal and basic needs. The Mistress Contract is one of the absolute hottest and erotic books that I have read in a long time and it will leave you fanning yourself to cool down. 5/5
This was definitely a fast paced and sexy book. Evan was powerful and broody, Maddie was strong and defiant. The character development was a little thin for me. I would have liked to know more about Evans relationship history. I also would have liked a chapter or 2 from his POV, get an insight in to the powerful mind of his. I felt the jump in the nature of their relationship was super intense (not in a bad way, though if I were Maddie I would have needed to be eased in to that).
Overall it was seductive and dirty, with my main thought being more character development would have made it explosive to learn why their connection meant so much
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC opportunity! 📕- The Mistress Contract by Evelyn Austin Pub- Silver Griffon Associates Pub date- 01/02/2023
Well written, filthy, emotional, and angsty. One complaint I have is that the heroine had a serious case of BBS (betraying body syndrome). There were times her near-complete loss of brain function around the hero was exhausting and annoying. The story was engaging, the emotion was ripe, and I enjoyed the non-BBS parts. I will definitely read the other books in this series… as long as there's no sharing or menages.
This was a good book and I enjoyed not only the plot, but the way the author brought her characters to life. While it’s not every day one is tricked into believing you are applying for an assistant position, but rather as a mistress, the storyline worked for me. The interaction between Madeline and her young age worked perfectly with Evan’s age and personality. While I thought he was a little too pessimistic of all women, I was happy to see he did begin to change his attitude as he started falling for Madeline. Overall a good book and will be reading the next book in the series.
I loved this story! This was my first book but this author and it was fantastic! It was written so well, absolute fluency, mesmerizing characters and enthralling scenes. High heat and all the emotional feels to keep you turning page after page.
I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC.
Wow!!! This book is extremely hot!!! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. The characters are amazing and the storyline is downright intense. I can't wait to read Lexi's story. Highly recommend reading this.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
DNF. I got to 35% and I just can't go on. After Maddie mistakenly goes to a job interview for a Mistress which her friend found for her she is pursued by Evan who will not take no for an answer of Maddie becoming his Mistress. What had me rolling my eyes was Maddie said she wouldn't don't she didn't want to be a Mistress and it felt like prostitution and was something she would never do because her father had mistresses while married to her mother but to me as soon as she signed on that line to me that's what she became. Which didn't help that her "friend" is pushing her to take the offer because she knows she needs money for tuition and also mentioned that she owes her money too. Evan uses manipulation to get her to do as he wants which leads to her signing the contract without really negotiating anything for herself it's all his way or nothing and when she did try to negotiate he simply said no to what she asked for. I only got to the part when they first had sex and she clearly isn't comfortable with what he does to her with the tie she tells him she doesn't like it and to take it off to which he doesn't listen and ties it around her neck and pulls it. If this is a BDSM book where are her safety nets for Limits and most of all her Consent. I'm not an expert at knowing BDSM but I've read a few other books with it in and this just isn't it. I'm not sure if it gets any better as the book goes on as I didn't finish it. But for what I did read I didn't like it
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a really good bdsm book. I usually don’t like that trope but this one was really good. The heroine doesn’t take any crap. He wants her and will stop at nothing to get her. Very hot read.
This was sexy I like that at the end she. Brought him to his knees to apologize to her after what he had done. But she put a chink in his armour and he couldn't help but fall in love.
