Zoo Crew #5

Moonblink

Rate this book
Things are beginning to evolve for the Zoo Crew. Drake Bell has passed the bar exam, accepted a new position, and begun a new phase of his legal career. His first case to walk through the door is in defense of a young woman that was the driver in an accident that left a young cyclist in the hospital. She accepts her guilt, but something about her story strikes a chord with Drake, causing him to dig a little deeper.

What starts as an attempt to shield the young woman from the misguided crusade of a prosecutor serving ulterior motives soon begins to shift, taking things in a direction that Drake never could have anticipated. Within days he finds himself on a quest that is part medical mystery and part history lesson, trying in earnest to understand the condition afflicting his patient and what it means for the situation she now finds herself in.

Again armed with the myriad skills of the Crew, he begins to uncover a trail that stretches back more than 100 years, involving some of the oldest wealth and industry in the state, and those that would do anything to continue protecting it.

I originally hail from the midwest, growing up in the heart of farm country, and still consider it, along with West Tennessee, my co-home. Between the two, I have a firm belief that football is the greatest of all past-times, sweet tea is really the only acceptable beverage for any occasion, there is not an event on earth that either gym shorts or boots can't be worn to, and that Dairy Queen is the best restaurant on the planet. Further, southern accents are a highly likeable feature on most everybody, English bulldogs sit atop the critter hierarchy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Saturday night spent catfishing at the lake.

Since leaving the midwest I've been to college in New England, grad school in the Rockies, and lived in over a dozen different cities ranging from DC to Honolulu along the way. Each and every one of these experiences has shaped who I am at this point, a fact I hope is expressed in my writing. I have developed enormous affinity for locales and people of every size and shape, and even if I never figure out a way to properly convey them on paper, I am very much grateful for their presence in my life.

To sum it up, I asked a very good friend recently how they would describe me for something like this. Their response: "Plagued by realism and trained by experiences/education to be a pessimist, you somehow remain above all else an active dreamer." While I can't say those are the exact words I would choose, I can't say they're wrong. I travel, live in different places, try new foods, meet all kinds of different people, and above all else stay curious to a fault.

Here's hoping it continues to provide us all with some pretty good stories...

Love this author!

As always after finishing a Dustin Stevens novel, I must sing his praises. His writing style is so smooth and engaging you want to keep reading until you reach the last page. And then you search for another of his offerings to feed your addiction. I've read many many of his books, have enjoyed each one, and will continue to devour more. My only complaint is the poor editing. My grammar OCD makes me want to correct all the errors I find although this problem will not stop me from reading all of his books.

In my 50+ years of reading novels I can honestly say that Dustin Stevens is one of the best story tellers I've come across. His books keep you reading from start to finish. I really like that he doesn't need a bunch of needless drama or babbling about things that have nothing to do with the actual plot.

Mr Stevens, I have read over 35 of your books just in the last few months, and plan on reading all the available books you have written.

Thank you,

Bonnie Rogers

What A Week!!!

I can’t believe this all took place in a week. Couldn’t put it down. And the background is quite the story!! A very unique condition that uncovers an over 30 year cover up. Triggered by a mistake on both parties. But-the
Zoo crew got to untangling; and WOW. Great read!!! Get going.

Review of "Moonblink: A Suspense Thriller"

Another great Zoo Crew novel! Totally enjoy the interplay between all the Zoo Crew. It absolutely ties the story together. Each character has their own separate personalities that melds them into the Zoo Crew. Can't wait to read the next one!

A very good read

I like reading about the characters as much as the writer likes writing about them. The characters do get hurt at times, but they come through the situations to fight against evil doers in the next book.

Eye Problems

The Zoo Crew helps a young lady who is facing serious driving charges for striking a cyclist in a crosswalk after dark. Another fast moving novel full of suspense. I highly recommend this author.

A very complicated case.

This story had so many twists and turns I felt dizzy a few times. I enjoy my time with the Zoo Crew and am looking forward to the next book. Highly recommended.

Good read

Enjoyed this as I have the others, didn’t quite keep me on the edge of my seat, but kept me reading til the end. Again, editing issues, grammatical and misspelled…….unless it was intended to say something about wounds and heel. Unless I’m mistaken, wounds heal.

Author really does not like big business. But I guess that fits the middle America setting and really the fiction cannot match the hideous reality of corporate calculation.

These stories keep getting better written as they go. I wish there wasn't so much repetition of the same explanations in the series, but beyond that, this book is the pinnacle of the series. I appreciated that for once, there was a really reasonable explanation for how this kid got into such a big case. I also like that in the end he doesn't fix the whole world, but just the problems within his reach. You know from the beginning that the good guy is going to win, nonetheless, this series, and especially this book is great at taking you for a ride that you did not expect.

"Implied Guarantee"

When I see the name, Dustin Stevens, as a book's author, I know I'm in for a good time... From believable plot and characters to fewer typos than most e-books, it's always a pleasure. Having a number of his books available through Kindle Unlimited is an added bonus!

Fun characters

The story was good, but the writing style is very tiresome to read. A little goes a long way when you have to keep starting sentences over because they aren't complete. It seemed to take forever to read, and I just wanted it to end.

Zoo Crew

Good book. As always I enjoyed. Have you lived in Montana? I live in Billings. I am a conservative. Missoula is a liberal city, but you portray it real good. Thank you for the book! One of your fans, Ray

Ok read

The story was different, but kind of slow for me. Was my first read with the zoo crew so I'm not used to the characters.

Drake to the rescue again!

Always love it when the bad guys go down. Don't know if moonblink is a true malady, but it made for a good story. Another Dustin Stevens great...
