Ugh, this storyline has gotten so convoluted I can't keep half of it straight, especially since it extends across 3 trades. Thompson is trying to go deep with Deadpool and Spidey's friendship. The problem is he's written such a hard to follow story that I find myself not caring. The story shifts somewhat in the latter 4 issues focusing on teaching Master Matrix (or whatever his stupid name is) how to be human. It's a lot better when it's more straight forward. The next arc appears to be Wade and Pete on a road trip. I look forward towards a simpler story. The art is a real mixed bag of decent to recent intern using crayons quality.

“Love what you’ve done with the place. Nice millennial slash serial killer vibe you’ve cultivated. American Psycho with avocado toast. Minus the avocado. And toast. …Do you want a puppy?”

3.5 stars. This volume was a little uneven, story-wise, but the writing/humor was still spot-on.

I was... genuinely surprised with how well-written this graphic novel ended up being. I mean, it's no Aquaman with delicately layered plots or Superman with relatable and heartfelt wholesomeness, but considering this is a comic starring the Merc with a Mouth...it was way deeper than it had any right to be. The first half of this graphic novel ties up the story of Old Man Deadpool and Old Man Spider-Man from the future attempting to stop the the Master Matrix from creating a world full of LMD Deadpools and destruction. Obviously, they accomplish their mission, but the second half features both Deadpool and Spider-Man being father figures to the Master Matrix and teaching him how to be "good." That's... a surprising duo to give such a lesson, and, as such, the comics actually dive into the question: "What does it mean to be 'good?'" That's an interesting question to try and answer when your teachers are a traditional hero (Spider-Man) and an anti-hero (Deadpool). In the end, this graphic novel actually has some nice heart to it, and you actually see Deadpool and Spider-Man become closer as friends, and both of them evolve a bit as characters. Spider-Man learns to accept some shades of gray, and Deadpool commits to continuing to try to be better. All of that is alongside classic Deadpool humor--plus TONS of fourth-wall breaks (my personal favorite)--and it ends with the two of them going on a road trip. What crazy antics await? With these two, who knows!

This storyline has gotten really convoluted in past volumes, and that continues on into the beginning of vol. 7. Honestly, it's tested my commitment to sticking with this series. However, with My Two Dads most of the existing plot threads are tied off, and it feels like the series may (hopefully) be getting back to a simpler place of the Spider-man/Deadpool team-up without the confusing and distracting tangle of stories they've been caught up in lately.

There are some good moments scattered throughout, and I'm willing to stick around to see if this series gets smoother. Here's hoping that pays off.

Spidey and Deadpool, squared! From across time and space, Old Man Deadpool and Old Man Spidey have arrived to help our heroes stop the Master Matrix, the head LMD that threatens the future! But when the double helping of Spideypool actually succeed, the present day Spidey and Deadpool find themselves babysitting a child of their own - the Master Matrix himself!

It's taken a while, but I'd say Spideypool has finally hit its stride. The seven issues collected here close off the arc from the previous volume in grand fashion, putting the Spider-Man/Deadpool relationship through the wringer in a way that even the Joe Kelly run didn't manage over 18 issues. The idea of having the two of them work together to 'raise a child' is pretty inspired, and despite Master Matrix being a little bland, he's a good catalyst for helping the two characters finally understand each other a little better - I just hope the character development lasts between arcs.

On the art side, Scott Hepburn pencils the first issue of the volume to great effect and is easily the most enjoyable artist, while Matt Horak pencils the majority of the rest; he's a decent artist, but very much a middle-of-the-road style. Meanwhile Jim Towe tackles the remaining three issues, and these are kind of bland - there aren't many backgrounds, and things feel very, very flat which is a shame considering these are the most action-packed issues.

Spideypool's first proper arc since Joe Kelly left comes to a successful close; let's see if the momentum and direction we've gained here can be maintained going forward.

Was really disappointed with this trade. The story just isn’t good. The writing for Deadpool and Spider-Man is actually really spot on at times with some funny references, but the story itself is bland. Also, art ranges from good to almost terrible. Not sure what happened there.

Honestly? Not that bad. It had some genuinely heartwarming moments (the last few pages made me smile like a dork), I chuckled a few times and their “son” really grew on me. I’m gonna miss Old Men Spidey and DP after this.

Could still do without the constant fourth wall breaking and self-advertising, though. DP’s signature gimmicks really should be used in moderation. Once or twice per issue is more than enough.

Yay! It's more Spider-Man and Deadpool – one of my favorite team-ups out there. They're arguably the quirkiest out there, and their adventures have steadily been getting more outlandish with time. Spider-Man/Deadpool Vol. 7: My Two Dads is no exception to that rule.

Old Man Deadpool and Old Man Spidey have come back together for an adventure like no other. Mainly, that means that there's going to be a lot of chaos, and more jokes than ever strewn around between these two.

Oh, did I mention that these two are going to get stuck as father figures in this volume? In case the title didn't give it away, yeah, that's about to happen. You can imagine how crazy that plot is going to get, even without any side quests to distract it.

Man, it has been a hot minute since I read any Spider-Man/Deadpool, and I'm happy to be back at it with Spider-Man/Deadpool Vol. 7. I don't think I realized how much I missed it until now (note to self: go and order volume 8 now, so we can keep this thing rolling).

That being said, I have to admit that things have gotten pretty...convoluted in recent times. There's a lot going on in this volume, and not all of it is good. Granted, not all of it is bad either. It's solidly okay. Which is a bit disappointing, considering how much I adore this pairing.

Anyway, moving on. There are two major sides to this volume. The first is the whole 'Old Man' gag, which surprisingly hasn't gotten old. You might think that it would, but nope! It's still hilarious – though maybe that's my bias showing. Likewise, there's the whole plot revolving around Deadpool and Spider-Man having to work together to raise a kid (of sorts). That in itself is pure gold. I just wish that a.) there had been more of it and b.) it has been set up to become something less temporary.

On the bright side, I really enjoyed the artwork in this volume. Scott Hepburn and Matt Horak did a fantastic job working together and just bringing all of these absolutely insane plots and events to life. An impressive feat, to be sure.

This was a fun adventure, even if it wasn't quite up to the standards normally set. That being said, I'm so happy to be back into reading about this dynamic duo, and legit cannot wait to start reading volume 8.

Sometimes I think this might be the most confusing comic Marvel has... but I keep reading it, and keep laughing so hard. A few key elements from this Volume....
- Tons and tons and tons of LMDs are plaguing the world of Old Man Deadpool and Old Man Parker
- The "Old Man" versions of 'Pool and Spidey are brought forward to our time to stop the threat happening in their time
- Enter Master Matrix. An android creation of Mary and Richard Parker who supposedly begins the LMD plague of the future. It's decided that current Spidey and Deadpool will take care of him and teach him the right ways. It seems like they will be successful because both Old Mans' vanish. Guess we'll see! LOL
- A stolen teleporter, The Wrecking Crew (Bulldozer, Wrecker, Piledriver, and Thunderball), The Savage Land w/ speaking dinosaurs, and the Asgardian Warriors Three? LOL When you stir all these elements into the same pot, you get a funny story all the same.

Obviously, the fourth wall breaks are rampant and poignant.

Why am I still reading this comic? LOL I don't know! But I am, still will, and will keep laughing everytime. Recommend.

To me, this series is at its best when it tell serious stories with occasional bursts of silly. Y'know, sort of finding just the right balance between Deadpool fourth wall, slapstick and gross out humor and retro mid 70s to Early 90s Spider-Man. If the series is going to have guest stars apart from other Marvel books, I prefer if they either be supporting characters from the heroes own books or oddballs with little to no exposure elsewhere.

So this run on Spider-Man/Deadpool by Robbie Thompson has been very much my thing. So Spidey and Pool trying to teach their adopted android son the basics of human morality while trying to stop the Wrecking Crew? An accidental trip to The Savage Land? Since it was a library book, sure, sign me up. Of course if you wanted to buy a copy for myself you could have at least thrown in Speedball and/or The Power Pachyderms. (They are a real thing. Look it up!)

Fun, funny, and utterly pointless is how I describe this series. I don't necessarily mean that as a bad thing its just the stakes are so low and the "big" additions to the cast are goofy and won't be seen again. Here, the never-ending time caper/LMD story ends. It did drag on way too long but did get us where we needed to go, which was Spidey & DP agreeing to be friends. There were some very funny moments here and Thompson handles the comedy well. The are, by multiple artists, was a fine compliment to the book. Overall, a harmless and fun romp into crazytown.

This volume was so good!!! The humor/writing was on point and it was filled with a lot of exciting stuff! Crazy battles, erased timelines, raising robot kids in the jungle with talking dinosaurs, Spiderman OFFERING A HUG? That last one's the craziest. I really enjoyed Matrix as a character and his arc plus the funny father-son trio! And with the to-be road trip I'm excited for the next volume haha!

Love these, as always. Glad that my BSC challenge this month was to read a comic! I only have a couple more volumes. These are my husbands, I love Spideypool. I agree that it's better when it is more straightforward like the last few issues in this one. I got confused in the beginning a bit, partly because it's been like a year or more since I read the last volume and partly because it just felt like a lot. Overall though, fun as always!

I think the most interesting thing about old Spider-man is how he manages to twip around in his wheel chair. Like, I know Spider-man can defy gravity because 'spider', but hanging upside down from the ceiling in a wheel chair? Duuuuude... I'm also surprised Deadpool didn't make some kind of crack about it.

Maybe one of my favorite volumes in this series, which should have so much potential. I read out of order so I missed some stuff but still able to keep up.

I enjoy that Deadpool isn't seen as totally horrible, and he does some nice wall breaking stuff.

I seem to have skipped volume 6, but I don’t think I’d care to read more about the Master Matrix and LMDs, so maybe it was a good thing. Somewhat entertaining once we hopped into the Two Dads scenario, but it all felt rather familiar, like the Itsy Bitsy storyline. Meh.

Another fun installment which even includes dinosaurs. Also, I love old man spiderman who is in a wheelchair and still flying across the skies of NY. A powerful image that no matter what we face we can still soar above it all and fight to make the world a better place.

Neither the art nor the story intrigue me.

If it weren't for trying to read the entire X-Men (including the never-really-a-member Deadpool) part of the Marvel Universe, I definitely wouldn't continue to read this series.

It's not offensively bad. It's not unoriginal. It's just not for me.

I used to watch My Two Dads, and as much I love DP, I have to say that you sir, are no My Two Dads. This one was weird and kinda hard to follow. Not the best entry in this series.
