Fae Surrogates #1

Betrayed By The Fae King

Rate this book
The reward for an alliance successfully negotiated. That’s all I was supposed to be.

The Kings of the Kraterra might not take wives, but they do need heirs.

Bearing an heir seems like a simple assignment, and it's one that shouldn’t come with any entanglements. Bear a child, be rewarded for your service. It’s an honor to be chosen, and no women would ever refuse the offer to be the mother of a Kraterran King.

But, Cormar, the leader of Kraterra’s armies, is like no one I’ve ever met… and he seems determined to possess me. As soon as I’m pregnant, I’ll be sent back to my father’s fortress until the child is born…

But the thought of leaving the Citadel, and Cormar’s bed, fills me with despair. I’ll do my duty to protect the alliance that my father worked so hard to secure, but I wasn’t prepared to pay the price for falling in love with an untouchable king.

Betrayed by the Fae King is the first book in the Fae Surrogates series. This dark fantasy romance is suitable for readers over 18 years of age and features dubious situations and content that may be triggering for some readers.

Loved this quick smutty read! Pacing was quick (obviously) but for the most part I didn’t really feel like there were any major plot holes or things I was totally lost on (besides the term of the pregnancy, I was lowkey kinda confused by that timeline). The smut was good although it was only in the first half of the book, and I would have preferred it be the second half to let the tension build if I had to make the choice. The plot was intriguing as well. The ending was super rushed. But let’s be real, I knew it what I was getting into based on the title, length, synopsis, etc, so I’m quite satisfied overall!

Once again this story is not what I was expecting. These seem like standalone books in the same universe but they are way to short. There are so many questions left in answered. It needs more details. Like the prequel ends and you don’t know why they were plotting to kill the king. And this one you know know what’s going on with the human realm. I won’t be finishing the series. Which is very disappointing cause I was excited when I found it but it is pure trash. I got bored quickly and it’s in 120 pages.

You can't say no to the king

This is your duty. Nova doesn't want to be a surrogate for the King but she has no choice. Colmar has to do his duty as he needs an heir. But he doesn't want to send her back to her father but he has no choice. He knows that something is wrong but he has to wait for the right time to find her. Nova can't believe that he abandoned her to this life. She knows that her child will never be safe. Will Colmar get to her in time?
A good read

1st (and only) reading: This was a piece of crap. Poorly written and I doubt that anyone was engaged as an editor. Typos, bad grammar, run-on sentences (and sentence fragments), laughable descriptions. Barely surface-level character and world building. I've seen worse, but not a lot.

Will NOT be reading anything else by this author.

Odd. Quick read but I'm not reading the next book in the series if that tells you anything.

DNF. Literally unbelievable. I didn't think it would be pure sex with questionable interpretations of consent. Can't finish it.

very good

This one was just as good as the prequel! I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next one. 😊

way too short

I loved the idea of the story but it was way too short leaving me to feel like the setting was missing something.

Undeveloped

Story skips from the beginning to the end with no middle, build up, or finesse. Absolutely no development of the romance or the plot. Attempt at world building similarly failed. There wasn't even much to betray because of this.

Do not recommend. Some short books can deliver but this one bit off way too much.

super quick read

Very fast storyline, written with historic words but still a great story. Steamy although when she lost her virginity I don’t know how he got three fingers in her….

This is a wonderful book to read if you just want a quick easy smut!
There was not a great deal in the way of a storyline/plot, however I still enjoyed it as a nice break.

All of the smut was also more-so at the start of the book, and once pregnant it obviously died down too basically nothing.
