Bonds of Alpha Academy #2

Sixth of the Mark

Rate this book
I know now what I am.

But without training, my abilities are dangerous. My bonds have avoided me since they found out what I truly am, an abomination of the Abyss, worse than any of them.

The other shifters want our power bond separated before I can seal the bond with all of them. But with each of us, we only grow stronger.

We’ve finally found the last member of our bond. Finding the Sixth has only made things more complicated for our bond group. And it’s definitely not who I expected.

Gage, Mason, Dmitri, Kaz, and the mysterious Sixth. We all have to come together to fight a bigger evil that’s coming our way. Or the divisions between us will be the thing that takes us out.

Sixth of the Mark is the second book in the PNR series Bonds of Alpha Academy: A new adult university reverse harem with fated mates, enemies to lovers, protective alpha heroes, and multi-POV.

*Sigh* I wish this was better. It was a little better than the 1st book, but not much. The addition of Liam Cade to the harem is the best thing that's happened to this series so far--he's great. The rest of the characters are meh. I also hate how they're all referred to as like 50 different names--it always takes me a minute to determine who we're talking about.

I hate how in this series, whenever a scene starts to get interesting, it cuts away to another scene suddenly/in the middle of a conversation, without finishing out the first scene. It's very strange. Pacing is also way too fast.

Also, I'm not sure if this is intentional but Scarlet reads like a villain, despite being the FMC's best friend. She's awful.

I don't think I'll be continuing this series.

Spoilers.

I hate when there is no trust or fragile trust at this level by the end of book 2. Any level of suspicion and they turn on her and are already ready to say she's a spy. Why try when the people who are supposed to care about you clearly don't.

The addition of the professor was an iffy thing for me. I know professor dominance thing has become huge in paranormal fiction but meh. I am not sure we needed that.

Can we also discuss how her friends actually suck? The way they speak to her, treat her and each other. You know you guys have turned into mean girls right?

Also I just need Gage to do more and Kaz to be more present because I actually find him interesting as compared to Mason who at this point didn't even exist in this book. Which leads me to what I ALWAYS SAY ABOUT RH: YOU DO NOT NEED MORE THAN 4 MATES OR YOU LOSE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

*Heavy exhales* honestly we just keep losing connection or not getting to know characters because book one was basically Dimitri, this one was cade, and unless we are planning a six book series the other characters wont get that development.

It was just all over the place with story line. It could almost be a copy of j Bree bond books. There is no understanding what makes the characters tick. For such a powerful shifter, she has no self-confidence to stop her snake shifter friend from using her. The surprise will be if her snake friend wasn't the spy. You're no badass if you recuse people but you can't save yourself, you just look stupid. no street smarts to save yourself while kicking ass to save people.
It doesn't take too much imagination to figure where the story is going. Don't waste any money or valuable time with a book that doesn't have any story flow.

I was honestly shocked that professor Cade was her last mate. He seemed like he hated her in class and in her private lessons. I was shocked that Gage had been engaged to the doctor. The fact that they beat up Dean and scared him to death was intense. The fact that Dimitri thinks Cade killed his wife is interesting. The part where she was in class and the professor was “rewarding” her made me laugh. Wow Cade is a dragon, so that’s cool. Now she is bonded to Dimitri and Liam Cade. Turns out his wife isn’t dead, she works for the syndicate and went to warn him. Leader Talon was attacked and Echo goes missing, only for her to shoot Dimitri. Only it wasn’t really her…..was it?

Good Book

I enjoyed reading this one. It had a bit of a dampener overall, the guys were starting to open up to get in the first one and then this one came along and bang, 10 steps back. Suspicion is pointed at the fmc, when she’s been nothing but honest. It hurt to read some spots. My heart ached for hers, reading the thoughts of her Bonds in each multiple pov. I hope she shows them all up. Makes them feel like crap that they suspected her. How dare they! Only one bond defends her. My fingers are crossed they get some type of karma and that the fmc doesn’t just forgive them.

While I enjoyed the shenanigans of the characters, I can see a five star book just within reach if only we had more pages to flesh out the details. All the world building is an afterthought and how does one have five mates and no one is trying to build a relationship with her? If she was not going to be the door mouse but a bad ass infernal shifter then why have her have the personality of a door mouse. How old was discount North? because he's acting like Dad not Daddy. Discount North was way too controlling and she took it like a door mouse would. So much wasted potential.

Sixth of the Mark, the second book of the Bonds of Alpha Academy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I'll admit, part of the issue I have with this second book of the series is with the Sixth. Didn't like him, didn't want to get to know him better, and he ruined the harem dynamic for me. That said, I'm still invested enough in the characters to read the third book when it's available.

Secrets Hurts

Man how dumb can someone be to keep secrets from the people who you supposedly care about.. No wonder why bad things happen.. Ok this series is pretty good but it’s also really frustrating and I can’t help but to get mad at all the idiots in this series, hopefully they get better soon..

Eh...

It was so damn confusing. The most weirdest thing about this book is that 5 guys and yet not one of them have a good loving relationship with her. It's no love, just a duty they have to fulfill towards each other because of the mark.

Meh

I'm not really loving the fmc. She doesn't seem to have any backbone. Letting her bonds talk to her disrespectful and just letting them push her around while still doing shit behind her back. I hope she stands up for herself more.

A must read

This is getting really intense and it’s getting so steamy. I’m looking forward to reading what happens next and I’m looking forward to see who she bonds with next.

Great continuation....

I did not see that plot twist, but looking back it made sense! I am absolutely enjoying this storyline. I can not wait to see what happens next!

I’m just not sure…. It seems to jump around a lot almost like half a thought then it moves on. The idea behind this series is good I just think it could use more developing. I’m also not 100% invested in the characters.
