This makes for an ideal introduction to the period, and this is still worth the time for those who may already be familiar with the era. We get some fine insights into various movements, their impact and their influence. The layout is clear, informative and easy on the eye, peppered with engaging fact boxes, historical bullet points of each decade, photos and summaries of many of the buildings, categories and architects discussed.

Excellent overview of modern architecture - my absolute favorite - from the turn of the 20th century on. A very nice balance of text and photographs give you a clear sense of the design flow through the different schools, architects and cultural impact.

It is a large format book, with an interesting tactile feel to the cover, which is a nice touch.

There are books that cover each of the different parts of modern architecture much more deeply. Buy and read this one to get a refreshing overview and the inspiration to move into your own life and projects in fresh ways.
