Chief Charlie McClung believes he’s dying. He’s lying on the ground—can’t breathe, move, or even speak, and his wife is begging God to let him live.
McClung is afraid to die because his wife will kill him if he does. Besides, he must find who wants him dead before they try again and succeed. Even worse, what if his wife and his officers are targets, too?
Can McClung recover enough to find the would-be killer, or will his wife be a widow for a second time?
Mary Anne, a native of Mercedes, Texas, has spent most of her life in Georgia. Her admiration for mystery authors like Agatha Christie, Anne Perry, Caroline Graham, and Elizabeth Peters led her to finally heed the voices in her head and pen her own series of traditional mysteries featuring Detective Charlie McClung.
Mary Anne feels life should be lived to its fullest whether you’re 10 or 100. She's always up for a ride on a shopping cart and dances with youthful exuberance. The main female protagonist in the Charlie McClung Mysteries is a vivid reflection of the author's vibrant spirit.
Mary Anne and her husband, along with their ill-tempered tuxedo cat Gertrude, call Canton, GA home. She believes in the importance of community involvement and volunteers at local food pantries and serves as the community liaison for her local library.
This book is another page turner in a fantastic series, that had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I was on an emotional roller coaster reading this book, and I needed to know what was going to happen next. I love Chief Charlie McClung and his wife Marian. Their love for each other bars none. The twists and turns in this book are amazing, and I learned aspects of the supporting character's lives, and their pasts. This story was extremely well written. I highly recommend this book and this series.
Don't Fade on Me Will have your heart racing from the first sentence. When a shooting happens it throws so many questions of who the suspect or suspects could be and just who they were aiming for, it will have you turning the pages faster to find out who is behind this horrible act and who will make it out alive.
Don't Fade On Me is a masterpiece of suspense and danger hanging in the air as a desperate McClung sifts through all the nitty-gritty frustrating details of police work that Mary Anne Edwards is known for. Throw in a few twists and turns, romance, and even some subtle humor, and you will be on the edge of your seat in this page-turner that you will want to read again.
A real page-turner in a wonderful series that you’d certainly want to read if for no other reason but because it’s terrific. All of the books can be read as standalones, but you'll want to get the backstory on the characters because they appear and are developed in each book. Although, I must let you know that characters that have been killed off are referenced, so just save yourself the questions and read the series.
Chief Charlie McClung and his posse keep you turning the pages through twists and turns and keep you guessing and questioning the direction things are headed. So, stop reading this, and go pick up this book that I highly recommend and is certain to keep you riveted until the last word on the last page.
What a way to start a book. For someone who has read this mystery series from the first book, I said What, this can't happen. Charlie, our practically perfect detective is shot. Immediately I start the questions, who and why. Lots of twists and turns along the way. This book can be read as a stand alone novel, but if you would like to get to know the characters better go to the beginning, I highly recommend it. 😉
I suggest not starting any of these books before bedtime, or if you've got something important to do. I binge read all 8 books, reading each one straight through unable to put it down. My only regret......now I have to wait for the next book to be released!!! I would give Charlie and Marian 10 stars if possible! I read them on Kindle unlimited, but I do plan to add them to my personal library as well. Great job!!!! Kathy G.
They never gave her option four, did they?? So, who shot him and why??? Now who shot at Marion AND Robyn Konopka and why??? I don't trust him either!!! Audrey said!!! Revenge??? I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
