Rock You Like A Hurricane

Maddi -

He was only supposed to be a one-night fling, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t get him out of my head.
Not when I work on the farm that I call home.
Not when I’m taking care of the rescues that came here as strays, just like me.
Not even when my grandfather insists on me letting this ‘foolish venture’ go or he’ll cut me off.
He’s never understood what this place means to me, how it was the place that helped me heal after the devastating car accident that took my parents and brother.
This place is all I have, and he’s asking me to give it up for a man.
The choice is simple, give up the farm or lose my trust.

One quick trip to Chicago later, I find myself staring down the man my grandfather wants me to marry.
Except, he’s not quite the stranger I thought he would be.

Colt -

I had it all. After starting at rock bottom, I put myself through school, got the career I wanted, and with it, the lifestyle I always dreamed of.
The money.
The girls.
The fast cars.
The parties.
It was just as great as I imagined.

That is until a vacation fling stole all my focus. Now, everything seems… empty.

When a chance at the promotion I’ve had my eyes on comes with an odd requirement, or should I say proposal, I figure go along with it. Maybe the promotion will bring back the joy I’m missing.

Only, it isn’t the promised promotion that brings back the spark in my life. It’s the girl I’m supposed to marry. The girl who blew into my life like a hurricane and left me craving that excitement again. Now I just have to figure out how to get her to say yes.

Then, how to keep her safe.

When Colt comes to a small town to visit his family, he never imagines that meeting a feisty, pink haired girl on a farm would change his life. All it takes is one meeting for sparks to fly! Neither of them are looking for anything serious, so each of them thinks spending some no-strings attached time together is a great plan. But you know what they say about best-laid plans...

The story has great characters and a wonderful blend of humor, suspense, and romance. It was a great read all the way through! I highly recommend this book!

This is the second book in a series from this new author Addison Micks. If you like your reads with a bit of humour, tough heroines, and some suspense thrown in you will like this read.
Colt is working his way up to a big promotion. Before he seals the deal, he’s taken time out to check on his sister Alex. His GPS sends him to the wrong farm, and here he meets gutsy Maddi.
Maddi runs an animal rescue, and is trying to figure out how to circumvent her Grandfathers latest ultimatum so she doesn’t lose her farm.
This pair don’t get off to the best start, but soon realise they’ve got chemistry, and agree on a fling. Then things take a wee twist after Colt returns to the city. So hopefully the pair working together might just save her farm. However, someone is not happy, and has plans for Maddi.
I liked how the author drew you to this couple from the get go. Then throughout the book kept your attention with plenty going on. The story and couple development was good, and for me flowed well, and though part of a series can be read as standalone However; I suggest reading “A Crazy Country Love Song” to get the best understanding of some of the characters.

Maddi and Colt story starts out really very funny when they meet over Fred's screaming.
They each have had a long history which puts them in the same feeling space and everything is fine until Colt's vacation is coming to a close.
Fast forward and who should meet up again in Chicago and have common goals that they are working towards for their futures? Everything is going well, until the Hurricane starts heading towards Maddi's place and it seems things change quickly, not in a good way.
Colt then has some important decisions to make and if he doesn't make them in time it might not work out for anyone.
This has all the feelings of loneliness, happiness, heartbreak and finally HEA.
Whose story is next Fallyn, Taylor, Dalton or someone else?

Maddi is happy in her small Texas town, running her animal rescue and using her trust fund to anonymously support charities that honor her parents and brother. Colt has worked hard for his career and is one client away from a big promotion. When their worlds intertwine, first in Texas, then in Chicago, they forge an alliance to get what they both want. But somewhere along the way, love complicates everything.

I did not read the first book in the series - I thought it worked fine as a stand alone although I assume you would know more about Alex (Colt’s sister) and the small Texas town these books are based on if you had read the first one. Overall, I like the characters, including some of the funny side characters.

I read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the first book that I have read by Addison Micks and I really enjoyed it. It was super funny, I was laughing out loud throughout the whole book. The book was about Maddi, who lives in Texas on an animal rescue farm, and about Colt who lives in Chicago, Illinois, who was visiting his sister when he met Maddi and her awesome pet bull, Fred. The story had some unexpected twists that surprised me and made the book impossible to put down. I highly recommend this book if you need a good laugh and enjoy small towns.  I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As an animal lover, I have to read a book that has them it. And this book does including a bill who will steal your heart.

Maddi runs a rescue in Texas and is trying to make ends meet without the family wealth. Not easy but she’s determined. Her fling with Colt ends up becoming something more but there are major complications in the way.

Adorable RomCom with some drama thrown in. Hard to believe just the second book by the author. She has a knack for creating characters that speak to you.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

This is a steamy, funny romance book about two characters, Maddi and Colt, who both have history that makes them shy to commit to relationships. It was just suppose to be a fling, some innocent little physical fun with no emotions and definitely no relationship. Fate had other plans.

This is the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I read this book first, so am going back to read the first book in the series. I’m looking forward to future books in this series.

Definitely a great read by a newer author who sucks you into her world from the beginning!

I loved this book. It was so easy to get into and there was a lot of fun humor. I enjoyed the relationship between Maddi and Colt. Maddi made me laugh and shocked me at some of the things she would say. I felt like they were a least likely couple yet they blended so well in how they complimented each other. I couldn’t get enough of their story and loved how they came together at the end. An amazing read!! I’m ready for the next one!!

This was a fun read by a NTM author. It's their second book. The characters and the townspeople were awesome and some were a little quirky which I really enjoy. I'd definitely read this one if you were on the fence.

Promising new indie author, Addison Micks, delivers an entertaining and exciting story with book two of her Songs of Cypress Bayou series. I haven't read book one, but it was easy to become immersed in the goings-on of the small Texas town and the characters who live there, and my curiosity was piqued to read more.
As with any new author, Ms. Micks is still working on perfecting her craft. However, her skill as a storyteller is first-rate. Her characters are charismatic and engaging, and she takes us on an absorbing journey full of emotion and intrigue, all wrapped up in a sweet love story.

Wow! Just wow! This book is the first book by Addison Micks that I have read and I can promise it won't be the last! I received an ARC and read the entire book in one day! I couldn't put it down! Addison may be a new author but I can see big things coming for her.

I've always been a sucker for a good love story and this one didn't disappoint! It was spicy, with a great story line. Two unlikely characters that have a fling that turns more, but not without plenty of complications along the way. But they overcome them and find a way to make their love work!
