Pine Lake #3

The Holiday Reunion

Rate this book
She wasn't expecting to spend the holidays heartbroken and alone. But thanks to her soon-to-be ex-husband, everything she once had is now gone.

At 46 years old, all Matilda has is a backpack and a one-way ticket to her estranged cousins' cabin in Washington. Adapting to the small-town lifestyle, Matilda makes a room in the attic, where she discovers a hidden box of odds and ends.

Inside is a picture of her as a child. Next to two other girls, and words that read: "My three beautiful daughters"

But Matilda is an only child. Or at least that's what she's always known.

Faced with the possibility that she has more family, Matilda must make a decision. Figure out who she really is or continue living a lie. But a grumpy man, snow storms, and hidden answers all still stand between her and the truth.

Will Matilda find out about her family's past before the holidays? Or are some secrets buried for a reason?

Finally, the story seems to be picking up a little however, with Kate now we are left wondering whether she is part of what’s hidden or if she’s the key to everything. Matilda is frantic and doesn’t know if her cousin is alive or dead, but she at least has the help of Patrick. As Patrick and Matilda seem to be getting closer to each other they also seem to be getting closer to the mystery that lies behind everything. They takeoff to Seattle to try to track down Katie, but have they just got themselves into a dangerous world? The story is beginning to take you on some twist and turns, and is finally starting to captivate the series.

The intrigue continues with Metilda and Patrick stuck at the cabin during a blizzard ... and now Kate is missing .. in the blizzard? The author once again does a great job developing the story and pulled me in with the mystery and clues. It moves quickly and smoothly and is another great read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

So now on book 3 and everything is moving so quickly. Matilda has discovered after coming to live with her "Cousin" that she is maybe not who she has been told she is. She has found clues that have lead to more questions than answers and now as they are directly in the path of a big blizzard her cousin disappears. She left with nothing and even left the door open which is not her style at all.
Matilda and Peter are putting together clues that Tilly found in the attic room and are trying to figure out what is going on.
I have read and love Sage's books but must say this one is even better than the others I have read. Don't know how many books there are but can hardly wait for number 4 to appear. I know I will have to schedule time because I will not be able to put it down.
Christmas is coming folks. This is a must read series for anyone who loves family and mysteries and wants to be able to just sit and read over the holidays.

This is the third part of the Pine Lake series. I recommend reading the other parts before this book to fully enjoy the story.

This installment begins immediately after the previous book. Matilda begins searching for Kate, who apparently left in such a hurry she didn't close the door...during a heavy snowstorm.

Since she and Patrick are snowed in, Matilda fills him in with the story of the photographs and the memories they caused to resurface. Eventually she shares the book and the code she discovered. Initially skeptical, Patrick carefully studies the book and finds additional wording. They decide to look for further clues in the attic.. and what they find is completely unexpected.

After a brief call from Kate, they travel to Seattle to piece together the story....

This series is in installments and the book does not have a resolution.

Matilda and Patrick are stuck at the cabin during a blizzard. Patrick starts to believe Matilda’s worry about Kate. She is missing with no clue where she is. As they analyze all the material Matilda has found, they start to put the clues together. Join Matilda and Patrick on their adventure as they go searching for Kate.

The story gets more and more interesting. The plot and characters were well-written and made you feel like you knew them. This was a fast-paced mystery that grabbed my attention and will keep any reader completely engaged. I highly recommend the series.

Finally book 3 catches my attention. Matilda finds a box hidden in the windowsill with a picture of 3 girls and on the back it says my 3 daughters. Matilda recognizes herself in the photo but one of the girls looks like her cousin Kate! Matilda thought she was an only child, so how could this picture be true? Matilda goes on a mission to find the truth about who she is. Once Patrick finds out what she is doing, he takes her to a woman who knows the history of the town. Now Matilda goes to confront Kate, but where is Kate and why is the front door to the house opened???.

Matilda and Patrick are quite worried about where Kate disappeared to so they take a trip to Seattle to see if they can find her. All the clues are in Matilda’s room at Kate’s house nd she and Patrick piece the puzzle together. She disappeared mysteriously without a trace, she doesn’t drive and a storm going on at the time! Where is she? They find someone in Seattle that has all the missing pieces to their puzzle but when they get to Kate’s room she isn’t there! I can’t wait for the next book to help uncover this mystery!.

It seems that with every step Matilda and Patrick take in this instalment there seems to be mystery abounding at every turn. Kate has gone missing and Matilda and Patrick are now very worried about her. The mystery of the travel souvenirs continues and Matilda is doing everything in her power to solve the mystery but also to find Kate. Loved this third book and looking forward to reading the next instalment. Getting so, so good.

After getting stuck inside Kate's house in the snow with Patrick, she decides to tell him about the mystery she has uncovered. But will he believe her or will he think she is loosing the plot.
And how did Kate manage to get to the city without being trapped by the storm, she has no transport and no-one they know saw her leave.
The mystery continues.

Book Three of this series finds Matilda recalling more information about the day of her husband’s arrest as well as finding out more information about her mother and Kate from Liesl who helped with Patrick’s upbringing. Patrick and Matilda spend time together due to a snowstorm but Kate had left mysteriously prior to the storm. After discovering some surprising objects, Matilda and Patrick set off to find Kate in Seattle if possible. The book ends in a surprising cliffhanger.

Book three and the suspense keeps building. More and more mysteries build as it seems not everyone is who they say they are & now Kate her ‘cousin’ has gone missing. Trapped in the house in a major snowstorm gives Matilda and Patrick the chance to explore and uncover more secrets and also discover more about each other. It’s intriguing and pulls you in as we delve deeper & deeper into the mystery .

I think what was the most interesting about this book is that there is a hidden part of Matilda’s life that she wasn’t aware of. She might be down in her luck, but could there be new family out there for her to meet and possibly romance? Built into a charming setting, I think that this book turned out to be quite the intriguing read.

Stuck inside due to a major snowstorm Matilda and Patrick dig more into the house to find any information giving them an idea of where she is. Along the way, Matilda and Patrick find out more about each other as well. Looking forward to book 4.

The mystery continues... as does the snow. Each book in the series is so well written. They grab and keep your attention. There is alot going on in this series. I love that the books are shorter but that doesn't lessen the drama, mystery and adventure.

Wow, I am hooked. The mystery that Mathilde and Patrick are trying to figure out is rather interesting. The cryptic code and travelling to Seattle is intriguing. And then the ending that leaves a cliff hanger. I am enjoying how Mathilde's and Patrick's relationship is progressing as well. To keep from giving away to many of the surprises and twists and turns in this series, I’m writing one review for Books 2 -6. I like to binge read series that carry the story through each book to a conclusion with cliffhangers along the way. Sage Parker keeps you engaged with the story and the characters. You will honestly have no idea who to trust and who is being truthful. Matilda will be feeling the same way. After getting into it I really enjoyed this series.

Although I hadn't read the first 2 books, I enjoyed No 3. It was well written and got you in. The characters were interesting. However, be aware that the story leaves you totally up in the air. No sub conclusion. To find out what happens next you have to read the next book.
