Detective Dinosaur is back for another set of interesting adventures, hoping to FIND something he LOST and help others in the process. These three stories are perfect for the young reader to learn a little more about reading and the world of dinosaurs:
1) Lost When Baby Penny gets lost, it’s all hands on deck to find her. Detective Dinosaur is on the case, tracing events from the disappearance, as well as a number of other criminal events. Will Baby Penny be found before its too late? Detective Dinosaur sure hopes so!
2) Found Detective Dinosaur comes across an abandoned kitten and cannot help but want to take her in. He posts advertisements, seeking the owner to come forward, to no avail. When the Chief loses his keys, everyone must help find them. Could this kitten be a great help for the entire team in this latest case?
3) Lost and Found During a night patrol, Detectoive Dinosaur gets lost in the woods. Unsure what to do, he locates a tree stump and begins to sing. His musical abilities may not be operatic, but they serve the purpose to help locate him in the dense weather pattern. As Detective Dinosaur always says, it is nice to be found by friends!
Neo and I enjoy this series, which mixes easy to read stories with actual dinosaur names in the pieces. Perfect for the young reader who is eager to expand their vocabulary!
This is a fairly cute book. It had a lot of funny situations. My son enjoyed pointing out all the silly situations that didn't belong in the time of dinosaurs. The illistrations are a bit lacking though.
Literary Elements: rhyming; humor; character is brave, dedicated, and hardworking. This would be a good book for late second grade for anyone interested in dinosaurs. The names make it a little tough to read if the child didn't already know the names of the dinosaurs, but I think they would still enjoy it. They could relate it to their life if they have ever been lost or lost something of theirs.
This was an enjoyable book to read aloud to my son. He enjoyed learning about Detective Dinosaur and his adventures. It is an "I Can Read Book", but I would recommend it for a more advanced reader to read alone. Why? Mainly because of the length of the pages and the length of the book. It is an excellent transition from picture books to chapter books.
Detective Dinosaur strikes again! The book has three mysteries. Some are good, one is too obvious, but there is usually some good humor mixed in to keep it fun.
