Every Woman's Hope

Rate this book
For what does a woman's heart yearn? What drives her and feeds her true passions? What is every woman's hope? Lisa Harper uses humor, biblical insight, and real-life experiences to connect with women everywhere as she reveals three of our most basic soul-needs--the yearning to satisfy our desperate need for mercy, the desire to know that our lives are defined by God's grace, and the need to believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are beloved by God. Harper fortifies readers with the power of God's promises and then points the way to the hidden potential in the heart of every woman. As you step through these pages, you will search your own hungers and desires and discover that a woman's greatest hopes cannot be fulfilled by the ragged offerings of this world; rather, they are pinned to a sacred cross, fulfilled by unbounded mercy, and made sure by the unconditional love of God.

Lisa Harper is a hilarious storyteller and theological scholar―a gifted communicator whose writing and speaking overflows with colorful, pop-culture references that connect the dots between the Bible era and modern life. “Her God-given ability to not merely teach the Word but package it in a way that stirs the heart and calls to action is incomparable” says Priscilla Shirer. For six years Lisa served as the director of Focus on the Family's national women's ministry where she created the popular Renewing the Heart conferences. The next six years found her serving on the local level as the women's ministry director at a large church in Nashville. As the author of eleven books, and a Masters of Theological Studies with honors from Covenant Seminary, she is now a sought-after Bible teacher and speaker. Lisa was on the Women of Faith national arena tour and speaks at many other large events as well as at hundreds of churches all over the world. Lisa describes her greatest accomplishment to date as getting to be Missy’s mama.

I loved this book and don’t wish for my 4 star rating to dissuade anyone. I only rated it 4 stars because a few of her illustrations for a biblical point were a bit of a stretch. However, overall, I loved reading this hook. It was uplifting, sound guidance in our overworked world.

I really like Lisa Harper, but I wasn't throughly impressed with this book. I had expected to be moved in some kind of way as she is usually insightful and inspirational, but this was bland at best. It didn't give me much enthusiasm to read more of her writings, to be honest.
