Bodyguard Jomana Silver has been appointed to guard Reegan Slay, a lesbian fiction author who's had a sudden rise in popularity. Jomana never questions why an author would need protecting, she simply accepts the job without a second thought. After an unexpected, strange meeting with the author, Jomana finds herself bewitched by the charismatic, adorable, and quick-witted little lesbian. Warring with her principles to remain professional or to allow the lesbian in her that wants the witty writer out, Jomana struggles between right and wrong regarding Reegan.
Reegan Slay screams fun and easy until you go toe-to-toe with her and see past her colourful façade to the turmoil and heartache she expertly smothers with her charm. Once Reegan meets her bodyguard, all those walls erected over the decades come crumbling down, and she finds herself equally struggling with her emotions toward the woman who starts to save her in every way a person can be saved.
The Kitten series will always remain my shining star. Rae and her family is what got me into writing and what's kept me going. As I venture off towards new characters and storylines, one thing that will stay the same is the butch/femme dynamic. I have even dabbled with butch/soft butch non-binary characters. I love masculine women and everything about them, from their charm, chivalry, style and everything else in between.
This past spring I happily signed a contract with Painted Hearts Publishing for my new book, A Jade's Diamond, that will be released in the new year. I hope to continue working with the lgbtq publisher for more great stories I write.
I look forward to hearing your opinion toward my older books and my newer books that will be published in the near future.
This short read packs a lot of heart and soul (and angst, and heat) into its pages.
Ree is a popular lesbian fiction author and Jo has been assigned as her personal bodyguard during a romance convention. Both women feel an immediate attraction when they meet though they aren't each other's "usual type".
Over the course of a weekend, we learn about Ree's past as she lets down some barriers and begins to connect with Jo. She has had a hard life, with trauma which might be distressing to some readers being handled with sensitivity by author Char Dafoe.
This is a story that happens around Christmas, but Christmas is not all central to the plot and I feel it could be enjoyed any time. Ree and Jo are very likeable. I enjoyed spending time with them as I'm sure you will too.
When Ree and Jo meet, there is an instant attraction that neither are prepared for, for different reasons. This story brings in the hardships of celebrity with the potential for crazy fans attitudes/actions. Ree is a very popular author (especially with lesbians) and Jo has been hired to guard her for an event. There’s up and downs in this short story, so many feelings, and the start of something that could be everything.
This as always is a story with deep sadness and joy Reegen an author of lesbian stories is given a bodyguard in the form of Jomama who is tall dark but all woman what follows is them both trying hard to ignore the almost instant fire that burns between them.Reegen find it hard to form a relationship because of her past Jomana tries her best to stay professional both fail and fall hard for each other. I loved this book my only concern is it's to short and left me wanting more
This book has an intriguing premise...and that's where the good things end. At this point, I dont blame the writer. Who I would LOVE to have a conversation with is the developmental editor who handled this manuscript. After reading the first few paragraphs I wondered if it was self published and unedited, but was shooketh to find it was not self published and there was an editor willing to put their name on it. I was so negatively moved by this, I checked on LinkedIn trying to find the editor so I could actually message her. Alas, I could not find her. So, here I sit, imploring the author to please find a real editor. I have recommendations if you need them.
This is the first book I read by Char And I loved it! Perfectly paced with awesome, dynamic, and adorable characters, the story was perfect for a fun and sexy read. Reagan and Romans have amazing chemistry- the sex scenes were hot! I do appreciate that even with their whirlwind romance, they talked about things serious things. Everything felt so real in the story. I'll definitely be reading more by Char DaFoe.
I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate Char Dafoe’s style of writing. She conjures up relationships that wouldn’t normally work, but Char finds a way to bring these unsuspecting souls together. Jomana and Reegan felt a strong pull and acted on it. They found love and joy in each other. A very good read. I enthusiastically and heartily recommend this and any other works by Char Dafoe. Thank you Peace
4 stars. This was heartfelt and romantic. Reegan and Jo are both incredibly likable characters and while everything happens between them really fast I totally believed it. They had fantastic chemistry. Jo was perfect for Reegan and Reegan herself, oh my goodness, I wanted to hug her. She'd been through so much and her back story had me in tears. I appreciate the way that Dafoe handled it and I thought it was done well. This was a great read and I'm glad that I finally got around to it.
This was not a typical Christmas story. In fact I don't know that the word Christmas was ever uttered. Maybe in the begining , I'm not sure. Anyway, it was a good story that was written well. There is some sadness but also love and it ended with Jomana and Reegan planning to be in a serious relationship. I definitely recommend.
Ree and Jo met as employer and employee. Then the characters were worlds apart but when Jo became Ree's bodyguard, the plot begins. There was good communication between them, some serious and some not. There are personal issues with both characters which are added to the story. I found the book a great read. I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance.
Cover and title seem unrelated to story. It’s not Christmassy at all. Bodyguard and the writer they are meant to be protecting (never sure what from or why) fall instantly in lust and love.
