About Liz

I spent ten years traveling the world on a sailboat with my husband. He is not a secret rockstar, nor a grumpy farmer, nor a coworker I accidentally saw naked. I only see him naked intentionally.

Many of my books are based on my travels all over the world – from the Caribbean to Polynesia to Europe. I know exactly how big the world is—having sailed around it—and exactly how small it is, having bumped in to friends worldwide. I’ve been a dishwasher, an engineer, a CEO, and occasionally I get paid to write or sail.

Now I’m in my small town era, both in fiction and real life. I live in Western Massachusetts with a big backyard that would be perfect for a goat if only SOMEONE would let me have one. I like my men to be sweethearts, the bedroom door wide open (with a splash of something new!) and the women to be independent and mature.

I'm basing the stars off the fact that there a numerous stories from a variety of authors for a low purchase price and that this book is supporting charity. Obviously, I'll connect with some stories/authors better than others.

Notes:
* Please check the content warnings at the beginning of each story.
* I purchased the book, but I did receive an ARC for story "Ch-ch-ch-Changes" by Karen Grey. My reviews are my honest opinion.
* I'll continue to add thoughts on individual stories as I read them.

1/29/2023 - Fool Me Once by Addie Woolridge is a short story spanning a decades worth of New Year's scenes where Deep & Tim can't seem to get the right timing to launch a relationship. Whether it's being too young, still having career aspirations, or even just being scared - Deep is always holding back. Until this year...

1/28/2023 - Bold Vibes Only by Sara Whitney was a sexy neighbors to lovers romance. Gracie finally gets the courage to let the sexy chef next door know she's interested in more. Cam jumps at the opportunity to see if this is attraction or the relationship he's been looking for. Things go great, but an unexpected mishap has them on a mission driving all over the city. I like that they already know each other and spend the night learning even more. Gracie finds courage to stand up for herself and others while Cam is 100% supporting her. Love the epilogue and the HEA for these two.

1/27/2023 - Look Up and Dream by Kathy L. Wheeler is a sexy and unique take on mistaken identity and office - in this case, costars in a play - romance. Maylis and Aiden's story is a great mix of contention turned to passion, steamy, sweet, and finding a way to make it work when it seems impossible. Wheeler managed to pack all this into a novella spanning a year that left me wanting more while simultaneously feeling complete. I can't wait to check out more of her backlist.

1/25/2023 - Everything I Dreamed Of was my first time reading Alexa Rivers and I enjoyed it. Poor London, she's a bit clumsy and slightly awkward which has led everyone in her life to treat her as incapable. However, she's determined to start an animal rescue and horse riding farm. Large animal vet, Cal, is immediately attracted to London but his past makes him think they aren't a great match. Some cute and heartfelt interactions make for an adorable HFN.

Looking forward to more of the Destiny Falls series and Rivers' writing.

1/24/2023 - Be My Angel by Tinia Montford features a pop star trying to break free from her past and create her own path. While I normally prefer dual POV’s, this worked well being only from Shay’s perspective. I love her crush on bodyguard Graham and his unwavering support. Lovers of road trips and only one bed (like me!) will swoon for Montford’s closed door story. They get an HFN in their professional and personal lives.

I enjoyed Montford’s writing so much I grabbed her latest release, The Last Minute First Lady.

1/23/2023 - Champagne Punch by Lainey Davis is a short story featuring secondary characters from her Brady Family and Bridges & Bitters series. Fun for fans of either but aren’t necessary to read first to enjoy this.

Set entirely on New Year’s Eve, Lyra and Ray meet via mutual friends at a big party. Neither of them enjoy the raucous scene and decide to find a quieter evening. One thing leads to another and they end up spending the evening together.

Things end on an HFN for this cute couple. Davis notes they’ll be getting a full book sometime this year and I can’t wait to read it.

1/21/2023 - The Billionaire's Brouhaha by Danika Bloom was hilarious. I got the serious side eye from my husband (and our cat) for cracking up so much while reading it. I love stories with older MCs, Cathering & Eric are both over 40. It was also sweet, sexy, and poignant. Bloom packed a lot into such a small novella and now I'm hooked.

I loved Catherine and Eric - individually and as a couple. Poor Catherine wanted to be a bit grumpy and not get attached but Eric was (respectfully) persistent and they made a wonderful couple. As an artist making huge statements, Catherine is used to having her work criticized and is thrown for a loop when she meets Eric working on her latest project. Not only is he aware of her previous installations but he fully supports her perspective and vision... until he might be featured in it.

I enjoyed how Bloom brought these two together and their HFN. I also loved the secondary characters in the story and can't wait to see where she takes them as the series continues.

1/10/2023 - Beach Resolution is set in the Wanderlust series by Liz Alden. Michelle is stuck, alone at a resort while experiencing a medicinal abortion. In the next room, Greg, who also happens to be a doctor learns of her situation and offers to help. While this seems like an unlikely meet-cute - the time spent convalescing gives them the opportunity to get to know one another.

I love Greg’s adorably awkward initial conversations paired with Michelle’s desire to be independent yet knowing she needs help. They’re a sweet couple and Alden gives them some steam too in the epilogue.

This is my first time reading Alden’s writings and I enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to more of the Wanderlust series.

12/4/2022 - Ch-ch-ch-Changes by Karen Grey

Fans of Grey's Boston Classics series will enjoy this novella as a fun addition, however it's also a great chance to check out her writing style. As always, I appreciate her ability to mix serious topics, budding romance, a little conflict, and humor into her stories.

Spanning a decade, Grey gives us vignettes of several New Year's Eves for Sam and Dee. From their meeting while working/volunteering at Planned Parenthood to life as a married couple and then as parents. As with many marriages - there are hard times, big decisions, and sacrifices made. However their love, laughter, and dedication to each other shines through and they get a lovely HEA.

4.5 STARS for Beach Resolution by Liz Alden

This romance novella tackles the issue of medical abortion with intelligence and sensitivity. It was so refreshing to me because it’s something that’s rarely spoken of from a personal perspective.
The romantic story isn’t overshadowed by that aspect, it’s well balanced and I was entertained as well as emotionally touched for and by the main character.
Michelle and Greg are on vacation (she’s dealing with her medical, physical and emotional pain in her room alone, her “friend” ditched her last minute, she didn’t want to “take care of her”.)
Greg is a doctor and by happenstance he knows what she’s dealing with. He steps in and offers her his help and support.
What happens between the two is emotional, sweet and very entertaining.
Greg is an amazing man, he’s quintessential book boyfriend gold. Michelle is likable and relatable to me, I loved the bond they formed by spending time when she’s at her lowest and he’s being a white knight type of caretaker.
I love the way things progress and the epilogue was so fulfilling!
It’s really a fantastic novella, it’s a rare type of romance with an entertaining, interesting story. I love that and it’s for a wonderful charity/cause that I support.

The Billionaire's Brouhaha by DANIKA BLOOM

Independent, straightforward, stubborn and a fighter for women's rights. That, in a nutshell, is who Catherine is. She expresses this with her artwork and has already placed many (sometimes remarkable) works throughout the country. She has been asked to place an artwork in a male-controlled environment; Power Brother's headquarters. She has therefore created a work of art that symbolizes the struggle between working women and their lives in relation to work. A litter she calls Nestrogen.
Eric is a confident man who has accomplished just about everything as a consulting engineer and is now involved in this project. From the beginning he supports her in her artwork and supports her during her work on it. He is full of his own abilities and makes a bet with Catherine....which he loses. In return he will sit in the nest for 40 days, alone. He does this not only because he lost the bet, but also hopes to get a chance to build a relationship with Catherine. Catherine who thinks there is a curse on her that dooms all relationships to fail.

I thought it was a great story where a strong woman is confronted with her past and how it has affected her life. She dares to face this and what follows is a journey where self-reflection is central. And maybe also a trip to her future.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I had ARCs for 2 of the 11 stories in this anthology - Karen Grey and Lainey Davis.

Karen Grey: Ch-ch-ch-ch Changes
Fantastic - 5-stars!
This one follows young couple Sam and Dee, over the course of a very long relationship, from about 2005 until present day (actually, about 6 months from now), on New Year's Eve or thereabouts each year that the check-in happens. When they are early dating, to when they find out she's pregnant, to having a family, to having issues, until now.

Sam is a nurse and he works in a family planning clinic for abortions when they start out. He goes through all of the stages that we've seen in the news over the years with protests, physical altercations, being scared for his life just for working there, to moving elsewhere, to changing to covid care, and back again. Moving states when Roe vs. Wade was overturned to get back into what he believes to be a critical health care measure.

Dee is a law student and when she finds out she is pregnant she goes through the stages of decision for her future of not being able to finish her schooling, not being able to pursue her law dream if she's a mother - all of the terrible thoughts and feelings that go along with the "what if" when the lines appear on the stick that so many women have. And once she has the children, the story follows the couple through so many ups and downs and fights and resolutions over the years.

An extremely real-life short-story that is probably what many couples have lived through, whether the same careers or just similar, and extremely eye-opening. As with all of Karen's books, very well researched for what each character was going through emotionally, at work, the protests, just everything.

I really enjoyed this one!

Lainey Davis: Champagne Punch
Very cute - 4-stars!

This is a single night, new year's eve, and is couple Lyra and Rayland who meet at a bar party - and it's his birthday. It's instant attraction on both sides. They decide the party isn't for them, and attempt to leave and go to a nearby bowling alley instead. Lyra needs socks, and the place is packed (because... NYE!), so instead decide to go back to her apartment.

She offers that he can pet her cat - not a euphemism but her real cat, until later, when it becomes the other meaning. It's a single night story all about choice and partaking in the spirits of the evening and a woman's right to do what she wishes.

It's quick (under 40 pages), extremely enjoyable, and I wish that it did go beyond the single night and talk of doing it again the next year!

I received advance copies from both authors and Home Cooked Books, and this is my honest feedback and reviews.

I read an early copy of Liz Alden's Beach Resolution in the Resolve: A New Year's Anthology for Choice and I want to say that I am super happy to support reproductive choice by pre-ordering the full anthology. But on top of feeling good for making the purchase, the story itself was phenomenal!

This novella featured a classic sexy cinnamon roll/doctor, a woman on one of the worst days of her life who needs a little doctoring, and a beach vacation which all combine to for a rich story that drew me in and left me wanting a follow up story!

I liked how the author created characters I cared about in a truncated space and how she not only incorporated reproductive choice into the story but she really put it center stage. There is a lot to unpack but I'm trying not to spoil anything so I'll say that this story helped re-affirm my Liz Alden fangirl status.

3.5 Stars Overall

An anthology to support women’s reproductive rights, some stories do discuss these topics, some don’t.

Beach Resolution by Liz Alden
3.5 Stars Short, stand alone, steamy, cute story that takes place in the author’s Wanderlust Resort series. Will probably check out this series. Michelle is ditched by her best friend who is supposed to be going on vacation with her. Michelle meets Greg who is a doctor and a total cinnamon roll hero (swoon).

The Billionaire’s Brouhaha by Danika Bloom
2.5 Stars Appears to be a standalone story, probably one of the longest stories in the anthology. Strong female heroine meets arrogant hero with cinnamon roll vibes. Story is too long for what it is, kind feels like things go off track of the story line and black point feels forced to just create drama.

Champagne Punch by Laney Davis (review to come)

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes by Karen Grey (review to come)

Be My Angel by Tinia Montfod (review to come)

Everything I Dreamed Of by Alexa Rivers (review to come)

Lured by the Decoy by S.E. Rose
4 Stars Extended epilogue, that’s sweet and a little steamy, for the novel, The Decoy. If you enjoy rom-coms with over the top, laugh out loud moments, I highly recommend reading The Decoy. Reagan and Grant who are BFFs are on vacation without their significant others, but both are in for quite a surprise. The characters in these books also make cameos in the author’s other rom com/contemporary series.

Flirting with Temptation by Marie Tuhart
3.5 Stars Steamy and a little spicy with light BDSM elements. Overall enjoyed the story, but when the heroine admits something from her past, the way she reacts and runs away, it seemed weak and overdone. The hero was borderline alpha-hole, and I wasn’t completely loving it. Would like to check out other works from this author.
Look Up and Dream by Kathy L. Wheeler
2 Stars Not sure what it was, but this story did nothing for me, and I found myself skimming over the pages. I didn’t think there was any really chemistry between the main characters, felt like the character’s personalities were a little all over the place, especially the hero. The speech didn’t feel appropriate for the time when the characters weren’t acting in the play. The spicy scenes were trying to hard to be spicy and fell short.

Bold Vibes Only by Sarah Whitney
4 Stars After reading this, I will definitely be checking out other works by this author. There is good banter and chemistry between the main characters. Loved how both character’s showed their vulnerability and how they showed for each other. Heroine finds her boldness when she needs it the most. For the length of this story, the steam, the angst, the plot, it all fit really well. Kind of wish this had been a full length novel.

Fool Me Once by Addie Woolridge
2 Stars. Enjoyed the concept, but they story did nothing for me and found myself skimming through. I felt very lost in the beginning before the character has a flashback. Also the chapters that are flashbacks aren’t labeled as such, so it took me a minute to figure out what was going on.

The Billionaire's Brouhaha by Danika Bloom

I received an ARC of this story from one of my favorite authors, and if the rest of the anthology is this good it's well worth the purchase.

Catherine and Eric are both divorced with grown children, in their early 40s, and are introduced through a work project - she's an installation artist, and he's the engineer who makes sure the art is safely installed. Their initial antagonistic vibes quickly give way to mutual attraction, yet Catherine's feminist agenda still has a thing or two to teach Eric.

I loved the idea of the installation and it is brilliantly executed. I loved how open Eric was to contemplating things from a different point of view. Their romance burned hot at the beginning but then kind of faded into the background as Catherine focused on what the installation was teaching her.

This story acts as a prequel for a new series as it introduces the influential Power brothers. I wasn't a fan of the eldest brother, especially how his ambush of Catherine wasn't ever fully resolved. Maybe his reckoning will be a part of his own story; maybe not. Either way, it left me feeling frustrated for Catherine, feeling that she was due an apology that will probably stay swept under the rug.

I did like the HEA for Catherine and Eric, and what it will mean for the Power firm. I'm intrigued enough to look forward to reading the upcoming series.

I've read The Billionaire's Brouhaha by Danika Bloom included in Resolve : a new year's anthology for choice and I loved it . It's a great story about life choices and being true to yourself . Also a story about being a good person first for yourself and than a good life partner . The Billionaire's Brouhaha is short but very meaningful later in life story . I loved Catherine and Eric's story. Catherine is smart , intelligent, independent, stubborn and an active feminist and fighter for women's rights . She does this with her art projects. Catherine is asked to make an art installation in Power Brothers headquarters. And she creates an installation that represents the struggle women experience when their work collide with other aspects of their lives and they are forced in situations they don't want to be. An installation called Nestrogen .
Eric is a consulting engineer who is involved with her installation. He knows and admires Catherine's work . Also he likes her and doesn't likes that she is refusing him because of a relationship curse . He makes a bet with Catherine and loses it , so he has to stay in the nest for forty days . In every Danika Bloom novel there's always a life lesson and a self discovery for everyone. No one has to be left without a choice in their life and to be forced in a situation that they don't want to be . Every one has a choice and we choose every day not only once. And a choice made in the past may not work for us in our future . The Billionaire's Brouhaha is a great story for the right to be who you are and to express yourself and your beliefs , it's a story about growth and life choices.

I received an ARC copy of The Billionaire's Brouhaha by Danika Bloom from Resolve : a new year's anthology for choice by Booksprout in exchange of an honest review .

This is a review of Danika Bloom's book The Billionaire's Brouhaha.
I liked the story very much. I just love a good romance and this one made me laugh as well. I would like to see some of Catherine's art in real life 😁.
It's easy to read in one go. It's a perfect story when you need a short break from reality. It's also an appetizer for the following books that are about the Power Brothers.

Everything I Dreamed Of - Destiny Falls by Alexa Rivers (Part of Resolve: A New Year’s Anthology for Choice). I love anthologies especially when (1) they are for a good cause such as this one and (2) they are short additions to a series. The Story of Alexa Rivers “Everything I Dreamed of” gives the reader a short glimpse of a city girl named London who moves to Destiny Falls and Cal, the local Veterinarian. London is a hot mess who wants to open a non-profit organization. She is capable but is cute and clumsy. Cal hates disorganization and wants a partner not someone he has to be responsible for. This is a heartwarming story of how two seemingly opposite people, act on their mutual attraction and find common ground. I really enjoyed this heartwarming short story. I received an advance copy of “Everything I Dreamed of” for an honest review.

I’m so excited for this anthology to come out so I can read and support the other authors. I was lucky to read Karen Grey’s story beforehand and I loved Sam and Dee’s story.

“Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes” follows Dee and Sam through several years of their first meeting and relationship. Karen wrote a wonderful story of two people meeting and how they navigated life over the years. Each chapter was a little bit into the future and so relatable. The story is fun, has heart and wasn’t afraid to talk about tough situations people and humans go through.

Everything I Dreamed Of by Alexa Rivers follows the accident prone London as she chases her dream of opening a dog shelter. To help support herself, she also opens stables for horse treks. And horses require veterinary care from hunky Cal. But can organized and on time Cal really fall for a woman who trips on air? A sweet novella with a little heat in the end - a perfect quick read.

I have pre-ordered this anthology that publishes on 3 January 2023, but in the meantime read the short story contributed by Liz Alden, called Beach Resolution.

Michelle is on her way to an all inclusive resort, but this trip is not all fun and happiness. At the airport, her bag tips over and empties, full of feminine hygiene products and a pack of pills. Coming from Texas it’s been a challenge to even get hold of the pills she is carrying. Greg, a paediatrician, watches knowingly but isn’t judging. He ends up in the room next door to Michelle and goes to check on her early the next day. She is in pain and at a low point, but this caring and adorable man stays with her, and provides the practical and emotional support she needs. The story is honest and very real, as well as being beautifully written.

I look forward to reading the rest of the anthology.

Review for The Billionaire’s Brouhaha by Danika Bloom only:

Catherine, the female lead, is a feminist artist known for her controversial works and her habit of discarding lovers/relationships at the end of a project. Eric, the male lead, is a fan and the structural engineer tasked with ensuring her next creation meets building safety standards. Whilst he’s pleased to meet her, she’s not thrilled to be overseen by someone so arrogant and decides to bring him down a peg…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and an interesting contemporary, later in life romance. I enjoyed that both characters were past the first blush of youth with young adult children. I enjoyed the personal development they each pushed the other to achieve, with a certain amount of awkwardness for both of them at different points, and I enjoyed the interactions with others. This story appears to be the prequel for a series and I’ll be interested to see where it goes.

I won’t say author Karen Grey has done it again, because she always does it. Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes is a story you must read (as well as the entire Resolve Anthology of course). It’s current and topical but will stand the test of time, it’s got the kind of engaging, enduring, endearing characters we’ve come to love in this author’s books, and it gives you some good steamy scenes. Who can resist all that?

Dee and Sam are drawn to each other from the moment they meet on December 31, 2005. Sam feels like the rest of his life has been decided as soon as he lays eyes on her and brings her that first cup of coffee. And what a life it turns out to be. Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes is a story about two very different people, committed to each other but also dedicated to their beliefs and ideals and to putting those beliefs into action. Those beliefs and ideals don’t always quite match up; they don’t always think alike or agree on that course of action, but they are good people who want to make an impact and they have a very strong bond, a bond that gets tested over the course of eight very-special-to-them December thirty-firsts we get to witness beginning with that first meeting in 2005 and ending about 6 months after December 31, 2022.

Mixed in with the humor and the heat and the huge decisions it seems are always being thrust upon Dee and Sam, author Grey unflinchingly addresses the always controversial topic of reproductive choice. She does it without being judgmental or preachy and takes us on a journey with two people who are dedicated to the cause in their own ways but who are thrown some very real-life curves to test that theory of blending staying true to the cause with forever love and happy ever after. It’s a story that makes you think, makes you agree with both Sam and Dee and want to help them figure things out and not lose that special, special, sweet, spicy, ooh relationship they have.

I am always delighted when Karen Grey gives us an in-betweener – a novella that bridges two of her books or elaborates on an event involving major characters, or dishes on characters that we didn’t get quite enough of. Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes is a flash-forward side-tweener or something and it’s as delightful as ever. The serious bits are balanced out by silly humor and sizzle. And I have to admit I got a little ‘aha!’ thrill when I realized who Dee is and her connection to my absolute favorite book and couple from this author’s Boston Classics series. Imagining them as grandparents, though – whoa!

I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes without hesitation, and as always I encourage you to go back to the beginning and read The Boston Classics, move on to The Carolina Classics and pick up every in-betweener and side-tweener there is. You won’t be sorry. All opinions are my own.

Review for Bold Vibes Only by Sara Whitney (and will get to the other stories soon bc my preorder will come in shortly):

I wasn’t sure what to expect, considering I’ve had mixed experiences with the short stories in anthologies sometimes, but Sara Whitney is becoming a new fave for me. Love getting to support reproductive rights through romance though and would’ve bought it regardless, so being delighted by (the ARC of) Bold Vibes Only was just a bonus. This one is shorter than the novella I read a couple weeks ago (The Holiday Hookup Road Trip) but still manages to bring some heat and sweetness with a hint of emotional depth, all the while emphasizing the importance of access to contraception and all reproductive healthcare.

I loved both Gracie and Cam, who fall into such ease with each other and have lovely playful banter. Grace’s resolution to be bold and go after what she wants (Cam) is simple yet difficult, and I related a lot to her desire to stay away from awkwardness and confrontation; it made me love her even more for standing up for herself to the asshole pharmacist and sticking up for all people who need reproductive healthcare (bc fuck the six judges on the Supreme Court who voted to overturn Roe v Wade for no reason other than to force their own beliefs on everyone else and fuck anyone who thinks they have the right to decide what people do with their own bodies and uteruses). And Cameron, with his bad boy looks and past but his heart of gold and hidden vulnerability—who also is a Michelin starred chef (!!!)—supports Grace wholeheartedly by being there with her the whole time, driving her to every pharmacy to get the Plan B pill to ease her worries. He’s the best. I love him (also where can I find a Cameron? *wistful sigh*).

The chemistry between them is palpable, and their ease around each other is everything. Grace defending her man when that same pharmacist badmouthed him and judged him for his looks is such a chef’s kiss moment. And the way she gets to use her OSHA lawyer-ly skills to be a badass in her own way was so fun. I loved getting to see characters for an upcoming book briefly cross paths with Gracie and Cam, too (will they become friends? I wonder if they will end up crossing paths again bc that’s fun). It’s short and sweet, yet Bold Vibes Only packs a punch while reminding you of the good cause it’s supporting and cleverly tying it into Gracie and Cam’s budding romance.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Resolve is an anthology with a great mix of eleven short stories that were quite interesting and "eye-opening" because they tackled pro-choice, empowerment, spunk, and romance.

There might be a few controversial situations that will bring in conversation, aside from remembering past characters in the author's book series. I pleasantly enjoyed Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes by Karen Grey, who authored the Boston Classics series I followed. It was a great follow-up to the author's Child of Mine series that I was fortunate to read and review. It was lovely to see the new character's progression (from the child's story) spanning years and culminating in a beautiful journey of attraction, commitment, love, and helping others.
Another one that brought more conversation between my hubs and me is Fool Me Once by Addie Woolridge, which brought back memories and discussion on a woman's choice and options on contraction. This story impacted me as I think about the current situation in my country in Asia - withholding or limited access to these.

There were a few misses for me, BUT that's just because I needed to get the whole story, and I had to come in trying to sort out the issues, or the story finished too early for my preference. Ultimately, there were more "hits" than "misses," but more of the former, for sure!

I recommend this book to readers who love:
Strong, sassy, witty female characters, balanced by "open-minded" and understanding partners.
Revisiting past book characters from these authors.
Empowering stories to bring conversations regarding women's rights and "choices/options."

Beach Resolution by Liz Alden -
Michelle is forced to face her decision on her own with no support. Or is she?
Greg is a pediatric doctor meeting his best friend on vacation when he runs into a young woman who he knows needs support. And he just can't leave her to herself.

No matter whether we agree with each other's choices or not as a human kindness we all need and deserve support.

Champagne Punch by Lainey Davis -
Lyra CEO of up and coming tech company run by woman. Rayland tech guy, definite introvert who would really rather not be at the New Years Eve party. But when Lyra suggest they get out of there and find something more their speed Ray is more then happy to tag along. So this raises the question if a woman is comfortable and feels at ease is there really any reason she shouldn't be able to invite a man or any partner home she chooses without repercussions?

CH-CH-CH-CH-Changes by Karen Grey -
Sam is a CRNA and volunteers at Planned Parenthood. He's there not only to make sure these women get the medical care they need but also some emotional, and mental support from a man as they go through making some really hard choices for themselves and sometimes for the good of their family.
Dee new volunteer helping patients in need of services get through the protestors. Also someone Sam must meet.
This story was all about supporting the right to choose and how far your willing to go to support others rights, and how far others are will to go to endanger innocent people when it has nothing to do with them.

Every story in the anthology I've read so far makes a great point, has wonderful characters, and hopefully reminds us all to be kind, to be supportive, agree to disagree, but always leave the choices people make for their bodies up to them.
I have voluntarily left this review.

Universal

This review is for Ch-ch-ch-Changes by Karen Grey.

Sam and Dee's story spans years from the time Sam was working at Planned Parenthood as a CRNA and Dee was a patient escort volunteer, then marriage, kids, career and geographical moves circling back to where they started, only it's present day. The way Karen handled the issue of reproductive rights is with a deft hand, never preachy, not too heavy, but with heart, compassion and the kind of love that we all want in our lives.

I loved this story, actually loved this entire collection. Reproductive rights are obviously close to my heart as a woman, so to read a whole anthology dedicated to this is amazing!

ARC provided by author Karen Grey for an honest review.

Everything I Dreamed Of – Alexa Rivers (01/03/23) – Resolve Anthology

London McNally wants to open a dog shelter. At a New Year’s Eve event, her ex-boyfriend Donovan berates her about her dream and her parents do nothing to defend her. Coming out of the bathroom after composing herself, London bumps into a man named Cal.

A month later, London uses her trust fund to buy a rundown property outside of Destiny Falls which has a brand new stable on it. She has hired a horse trainer and will use the horses and trails to fund the dog shelter part of the business. The house is rundown and needs a ton of renovations. London is clumsy and a little disorganized but really wants to make this business work.

The veterinarian comes to check on the first two horses London has acquired. It is Cal, the man she bumped into at the fundraising event last month.

Cal grew up having to take care of his alcoholic mother who was a mess so Cal steers clear of that type of woman. He doesn’t want to be attracted to London since she seems like a clumsy mess who doesn’t know what she is doing.

Will Cal realize that London may be clumsy but she is also hard working and wants to make her business work? Will he realize the difference between his addicted mother and London before it’s too late? Will London be able to make a go of her business and catch Cal’s attention?

Catherine is a public art creator, who knows what she wants, and how to expose her truth with it.
Then there is Eric, an engineer. They are both asked to work together to create a project for a Company: Will Power and brothers. Maureen is the head of the Company and the mother of the two brothers.
As they both need the money, they work together for the project, but they do not get along with each other. And then they made a bet for each other, but to know what this is, I do not tell the how or what, you'll have to find out.
What I can say, despite of some circumstances, although they are hostile to each other, they had a one-night stand.
Things went better since then, and they started to work in team. They even began a relationship. When they ended the special construction at the end of the book, it was very well discribed, and a good idea created by the author.
What happened then at the ending of the book, I liked it also very much, Although it started with a tension between two people, it ended with something surprising. Aren't you surprised? I was, and read the book.
Although the twist and turns in the book, it still made me feel that the book is a "good-feeling" book, it is nice to read and there is a sense of humour in it.

4 stars for Beach Resolution

Absolutely enjoyed this short by Liz Alden. I started following this author since her first novel in her Wanderlust series, and I’ve been happily reading ever since!

Beach Resolution follows Michelle as she heads off on vacation. Unfortunately, her friend ditches her last minute, forcing her to deal with her choice of having an abortion by herself. Fortunately, Dr. Greg is also leaving for vacation and after learning what Michelle is facing, offers to help her through this difficult time. Her out-of-the-blue knight in shining armor was sweet, and thoughtful, and I loved how there was no judgement on his part.

I really liked Greg and Michelle together and I applaud the author for consistently having well, fleshed-out characters who are charming, yet flawed. I thought the plot was creative and I really enjoyed how she tackled the issue of abortion. It’s often a “do not talk about” subject, but I thought this was written with respect, and a deep consideration for those who choose to have it. An absolutely lovely read and I will continue to wait for more from Liz Alden! Thank you to the author for my ARC copy and I am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
