Kane Mendez. The son of a drug lord, who is not his father's son, and yet, he has enemies. Too many enemies.
Lilah Love. The FBI agent who perhaps kills a little too easily. Or does she? As she's called in to consult on a case, and catch a killer, her troubles back home don't go away. People want her dead. She simply wants them dead first.
Kane and Lilah. Lilah and Kane. War is on the horizon. And everyone won't survive.
Happy Death Day is the seventh title in the Lilah Love series.

This series just gets better and better! I love Lilah and Kane so much. They are the ultimate couple. You get the anti-hero and an anti-heroine. They will do absolutely anything to protect each other and boy do they need it. They are embroiled in so much danger, I don't know how they can sleep at night. I love every minute of it!
Happy Death Day does end on a big cliffhanger. It's going to be hard waiting for the next book but it gives me a chance to re-read the series again before the next book publishes. That's how much I love this series!
Lilah is back and once more she brings that take no prisoners attitude, the kind that carries a gun. Her and Kane are facing drama at each turn including a quagmire of familial expectations. On top of that is the serial killer case Lilah is working on. It’s a unique way of killing and I wondered at this author’s state of mind when reading the gory details. Lol.
This did feel as though it was lighter on the action than the previous books and centered more on the emotional elements. There is a lot of talking about solutions, expectations and plans so I’m hoping the next book will take us back into that high intensity. Nevertheless, anything with Lilah is awesome.
This ends in a huge cliffhanger that had me screaming and I cannot wait until the next Lilah Love is released!

This one is crazy. You would think at some point Lilah would catch a break, sadly she can't. It also seems like the only person she can really trust is Kane. Those two are watching so many dirty people it's hard to keep up. With the way this one ended the next book will be lots of fun. I only hope that Lilah can keep ahead of all those that seem to be gunning for her.
5 WOW, JUST WOW STARS!! This series just keeps getting better. Lilah and Kane held me captive all the way through. I am dying right now and need more. This author's writing is phenomenal and a must read for me.
4.25 stars—HAPPY DEATH DAY is the seventh instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary adult LILAH LOVE romantic suspense series focusing on FBI Agent Lilah Love.
Told from first person perspective (Lilah Love) HAPPY DEATH DAY follows independent and feisty FBI Agent Lilah Love on her return from a two week honeymoon with her husband and businessman /Cartel heir Kane Mendez, a return that sees Lilah investigating a potential serial killer who may or may not have connections to our story line heroine. Four dead bodies, apparently all victims of a possible HMC (Horror Movie Copycat), and several with a connection to a small coffee shop our heroine loves to frequent. As Lilah and her ‘team’ start their investigation, Lilah’s father’s run for governor pulls Kane, Lilah and her brother Andrew into a political fight with damning ramifications, a fight where the Love dysfunctional family dynamics is anything but loving and kind. As the race for Governor becomes dangerous and dark, Lilah eyes the characters put into play, wondering who is really in charge.
Meanwhile, Kane begins to hint that Lilah’s boss and FBI Director Murphy isn’t all who he appears to be forcing Lilah to reconsider to whom she professes her allegiance and trust. With the help of her cousin Lucas, and an IT whiz known as Tic Tac, Lilah begins to unearth a trail of questionable connections, connections that may be targeting our story line couple.
The secondary and supporting characters include Lilah’s bodyguard Jay, NYPD Chief Houston, FBI Directory Murphy ; Lilah’s brother Andrew, their father Grant Love; and Society member Ted Pocher, whose group is grooming the candidates for higher office. We are introduced to forensics tech Jack Cox.
HAPPY DEATH DAY is a story of betrayal and vengeance, murder and mystery, power and control, love and trust. Kane Mendez refuses to accept that Lilah is no longer the ultimate target, and Lilah knows that even family, blood or otherwise, cannot be trusted when it comes to winner takes all. The fast paced premise is intriguing, and suspenseful; the characters are energetic, charismatic and captivating. HAPPY DEATH DAY ends on a cliffhanger -you have been warned.
Agent Lilah Love is back in the seventh Lilah Love story, and it's a cracker! That sees Lilah and Kane return from their honeymoon to find a serial killer praying on New York's wealthy.
But this isn't just any serial killer, this is one who seems to want Lilah's attention and who likes to reenact horror films like Halloween and Friday the 13th.
And that's not all as Kane and Lilah still have lots to deal with including Lilah's dad's bid for Governor, the aftermath of the serial killer Lilah murdered and Kane and her brother Andrew helped cover up.
Oh and the fact there's a secret society and a cartel leader determined to stop Lilah and Kane from having a happy ever after.
And with a fast-paced storyline, twists galore, and more secrets than Harry found in a certain chamber this was a fabulous read. With an ending that had me screaming for more! And I'm now counting down the days until book eight is released.
I would happily recommend Happy Death Day to others.
I LOVE this series so much, and frankly, Lilah Love really needs to become a tv show because it would be EPIC! She marches to the beat of her own drum, and let's just say, she doesn't always operate in the black & white of the FBI, and I think that's fantastic. She's totally her own person, gives zero effs if people like her, and is tough as nails & will get the killer in whatever fashion she deems fit. She's found love with Kane, and now that she's back from her honeymoon, the bodies are dropping again, and I LOVED this killer's signature LOL! There's also danger stalking Lilah & Kane's every step from all directions so there are twists coming in hot from around every corner, and my f-bomb dropping was leveled up as I tried to figure things out, and yet could not. All of this isn't over yet, and let me tell you, I'm dying inside for more because I need all the answers and let's face it, the diabolically brilliant Lisa Renee Jones knows how to really throw us off a cliff. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Agent Lilah Love-Mendez ( because yes!, Lilah and Kane are now married ❤️) is dealing with a serial killer obsessed with horror flicks (copycat of Jason, Freddy and Micheal’s handiwork). This newest crime drama is not solved in this book and this ends with a big cliffhanger.
The Society drama still continues (it’s carried through seven books now), so of course that didn’t wrap up either.
I am enjoying the series, but just wondering how long the lack of conclusion with the Society will go on.
Agent Lilah Love/Mendez is back with her foul mouth & enormous expectations, "I need stuff" her famous words to Tic Tac. The monent Lilah and Kane return from their honeymoon she get a call from a new character Jack Cox. Jack is a forensics tech and believes Lilah is the best profiler ever that he actually been stalking and stole her information from Det Rollins rolodex. Before her & Kane left the airport Jack informed Lilah about a series of murders who have copycat horror movies. This serial killer has been preying on New York's wealthy. Four dead bodies, apparently with a connection to a small coffee shop Curly Joe. As Lilah starts the investigation of an old movie theater, they find photos of Kane sitting in the small coffee shop Curly Joe all over the wall. This Serial Killer really wants to piss off Lilah fucking Love/Mendez, to take current time pictures of Kane working on his computer was a bold move, messing with the one person she owes/love.
Lilah’s father is still running for governor being backed by The Society Ted Pocher, Grant pulls Lilah's brother Andrew into his political team and Lilah & Kane decide to join in order to protect her brother Andrew. As the race for Governor becomes dangerous, Lilah & Kane decides to push Ted Pocher further away with their plans that they can protect him better than Pocher. Then Lilah goes unprotected to meet Andrew and is now surrounded by SUV's who is stupid enough to box the queen Lilah fucking Love/Mendez Kane's The Cartel Mendez woman...
Pure Brilliance is what this series is that has grabbed me and hasn't let go. I'm so immersed, addicted and freaking obsessed with the Boss Lady who's fearless, Agent Lilah Love Mendez and her Oil Mogul of a Wealthy businessman and her Soulmate, Kane Mendez.
Finally my cuties are now married... Yay!!! Seeing Lilah and Kane together in marriage is witnessing their special brand of marital bliss with both fighting and passionate love.
When Lilah's honeymoon is cut short by a forensics guy asking for her help in the new 𝗆π𝗋𝖽𝖾𝗋 case which seems to resemble the 𝗁𝗈𝗋𝗋𝗈𝗋 𝗆𝗈𝗏𝗂𝖾 𝗄𝗂!!𝗂𝗇𝗀𝗌, Lilah is annoyed but also ready to find the culprit & protect the people.
From one complex angle to the next, Lilah does what she does best connecting the dots and profiling but amidst all this, her father and his political ambitions seem to pull in Lilah and her King's support and lilah has to carefully navigate this political drama which also is sensitive when they involve the recent case that Lilah is working on.
Let me tell you, Lilah and Kane might not have always been publicly displaying their affections, but after the marriage I'm loving the possessive displays by both Kane and Lilah.
The way Lilah uses her name Agent Love- Mendez and other times just Agent Mendez, the way she goes crazy with worry for Kane and it's unusual because Lilah, the freaking 𝖻𝖺𝖽𝖺𝗌𝗌 never ever shows emotions, has my heart.
Then there's this burning Passion between them that had me swooning... Yes... Swooning because these two are the kind of forever couple where commitment and marriage are things that make it forged on Iron or steel kinda thing for them and their motto - 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝑫𝒊𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 says it all.
I WAS HERE FOR THEIR BRAND OF ROMANCE & LOVE and loved every second of it.
I'm really loving Lilah and her interactions with Kane's men on duty for her protection, Jay her favourite side kick, Kit and Enrique too. Lilah's dry sense of humor, her holding back no punches and being known as the fearless agent is definitely a title she's earned. That woman is a freaking 🅱@🅳@$$.
That ending... Once again amidst all the case solving, this twist has come out of left field and beware Kane's enemies because Lilah is the only person that keeps the Monster sane and the king calm but now all bets are off when his queen is in danger. Can't freaking wait to dive in the next book. Absolutely loved loved this one. ♥️
The next, seventh book in the "Lilah Love" series couldn't have a more fitting title for the unique personality of the main character, Lilah. Returning home from her honeymoon, newlywed Lilah Love-Mendez barely has time to rest – on her first night she finds herself at a murder scene. The life of the FBI's sharp-tongued profiler takes another dark turn as she finds herself in the middle of another murder case.
Lilah and her husband Kane Mendez's relationship remains a major thread in the series. They would do anything for each other, do whatever it takes to protect each other – and they need to, as the number of enemies continues to grow. Lilah is now officially Lilah Love-Mendez, but her introduction, reflecting her unique nature, depends on who she's dealing with and what she's trying to achieve. Whether as an FBI agent, the daughter of an ex-cop turned politician, as Lilah Love, or the wife of the handsome but dangerous (or perhaps dangerously handsome) Latino who the world considers a powerful drug lord, as Lilah Mendez, Lilah always uses whichever identity she thinks will bring her closest to her goal.
At the heart of the novel is a serial killer who takes his victims among New York's elite, copying horror movie murders. As Lilah investigates, she must continue to carefully select who she allows into her inner circle of trust. Unsurprisingly, considering the author, the book ends with many unanswered questions, including the identity of the killer.
The "Happy Death Day" offers yet another dark and tension-filled plot, with morally grey yet easily likeable characters. Lilah Love is drawn deeper and deeper into a web of violence, power and corruption as she tries to save New York City from brutal killers. Once again, Lisa Renee Jones successfully combines the thriller genre with Lilah's complex character, leaving the reader on the edge waiting for the answers to so many questions.
Happy Death Day by Lisa Renee Jones cranks the tension up yet again, blending serial killer mind games with political intrigue in a way that feels unsettlingly timely. From the moment Lilah touches down back home, the story never slows down. The phones are ringing, bodies are dropping, and the line between public spectacle and private danger completely disappears.
I loved how deeply politics are woven into this installment. The close election adds a constant undercurrent of urgency and raises the stakes beyond the murders themselves. This isn’t just about who the serial killer is, but why. What’s their agenda, and how far are they willing to go to influence power? The questions pile up fast: who targeted Lilah’s father, and was it personal, political, or both? Every answer seems to open the door to two more twists.
The horror-movie-mimicking killer is a chilling concept, and she uses it well to keep the suspense sharp and the pacing tight. At the same time, the online obsession with Lilah, the forums, stalking, and public scrutiny, adds a disturbingly realistic layer that made me uncomfortable in the best way. Lilah being watched has never felt more dangerous.
Kane continues to be a standout, especially with the looming presence of his uncle. Whatever Kane’s uncle wants with Lilah is clearly not good, and that thread adds another layer of menace to an already crowded field of threats. Their relationship remains intense, complicated, and one of the strongest anchors of the series. Then it has to go and end on another cliffhanger...
All I can say about HAPPY DEATH DAY is WOW! Author Lisa Renee Jones has a way of pulling her fans into a story from the first to last page. And yes - fair warning - there is a cliffhanger involved but then Ms. Jones is the Cliffhanger Queen after all.
Lilah returns from 2 weeks of fun, sun and Kane honeymoon to find herself pulled into an investigation that might or might not be a serial killer. The horror movie type deaths can't be a coincidence, but are they manufactured by the powers that be just to keep her busy. If she is in the limelight that helps her father with his political race by showing the Love family are for the safety of the people. If you know Lilah you know she doesn't go political at all. She is F.B.I. and Kane isn't - he is in fact thought to be head of his late father's cartel. He isn't but sometimes some of the things he (and Lilah for that matter) has done just might seem that way.
With his family (an uncle who can't believe he doesn't want to lead the cartel) and her family (politics and the unsavory friends that brings) and the friends they manage not to kill - married life will be a very interesting learning process for the both of them. And fans are going to get to watch is all happen.
Fantastic read that will have you up at all hours because you have to know what happens next!
Lilah Love is back and just returned from her honeymoon. The instant she steps foot back home, she pulled into another serial murder case. This time the killer appears to be copying killings from famous horror movies. The cops don't connect the cases to start with but she is still pulled in by an over enthusiastic crime scene tech.
As always we have the continuing ongoing story based around the shadowed Syndicate, who have a lot to answer to and are somehow connected to Lilah's father. The father is running for Governor, which means that Lilah needs to play at politics as well.
Kane is still fighting to keep his business clean and above board but he is always one decision away from bringing it all down. Now that he is married to Lilah, he has so much more to lose. So Kane goes into over-protective mode with Lilah, even though it is abundantly clear that she can take of herself. The push and pull between these two is actually fun to witness and I love their relationship. They stand by each other and respect each other, helping each other along the way.
So if you are expecting a nice red bow on the story at the end, then be ready to be left shouting at your kindle. Lilah Love happens to one of my favourite female characters. This was what we have come to expect from a Lilah Love story.
This series is one of my absolute favorites and Happy Death Day does not disappoint. Lilah and Kane have the ultimate relationship. He’s the anti-hero that is totally swoon worthy and she’s the foul mouthed anti heroine that deep down I think we all would love to be. They work hard and love even harder and will stop at nothing to protect each other and those they love. Lilah once again has a serial killer to find. She has her own thought process that also encompasses those close to her father who is running for office. Being a political pawn is the last thing she wants or needs. Kane wants nothing to do with the cartel but he understands he doesn’t have a choice to have some level of involvement. With someone wanting him dead, he has no choice but to have some role even if it's only a behind the scenes way of doing it. The Lilah Love Series is not your typical romance. Yes Lilah and Kane are a married couple but the main focus of the series is Lilah’s job as a FBI profiler. Lilah and Kane tend to balance each other. They have a past that once again is connected to their present in so many different ways. Happy Death Day is part one of this duet so it does end with a huge cliffhanger. I am looking forward to its conclusion with the release of The Party Is Over.

One of very best things about Lilah Love is her sarcasm and droll wit. Well, and the fact she likes to shoot people. Lisa Renee Jones has created one of the most memorable characters that I've ever run across. I swear I am always on the edge of my seat while reading a Lilah book. The story moves at a rapid pace with lots of information being thrown at you quickly. The details are myriad and absorbing. Be warned you won't get all the answers until December because Happy Death Day ends in a cliffhanger. Darn you, LRJ!
Catching a serial murder case the moment she and Kane touchdown from their honeymoon is not ideal. Having the case become a political football with Lilah becoming the star quarterback just plain irritates her. Faced with an overzealous forensic technician, a buttoned down by-the-book homicide detective and a killer who imitates horror movie crimes plus and overly protective husband, Lilah has her hands full. What becomes apparent is her past and present are on a definite collision course and it's getting so that you can't tell the good guys from the bad guys even with a scorecard.
I really enjoyed this latest book in the Lilah Love series. Lilah is the same badass she has always been. She and Kane haven't even made it home from their honeymoon before she is getting a call regarding recent murders that have happened. The relationship between Lilah and Kane is as strong as ever. You really get a sense of how much Kane love Lilah and how much he is vulnerable with her. Something he shows no one else. He is even more protective of her now than ever before. Lilah in turn is realizing she has always loved him, even when she has said before that she hated him when she moved across the country. These two will do anything for one another. They are still facing the problems with her father and Pocher and now Kane's uncle. Not to mention this latest killer who seems to have a strange fascination with copycatting horror movie killings. In true LR Jones fashion we are left with a giant cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what will happen next. I know I didn't see that coming. Yet I was not surprised. Ms Jones is a genius at her craft. I can not wait to find out what happens next!
Absolutely love this series. Lilah Love is a kick-ass heroine and even more so now that she finally married Kane Mendez.
As Lilah and Kane are getting back from their honeymoon, Lilah is pulled into a new murder scene. The Forensics tech who called Lilah believes it is the last case in a new serial killer string of murders. As Lilah is working the case she discovers there are new threats against her by Kane’s uncle.
Then to her dismay, her father pulls Lilah, Kane and Andrew into his campaign. Lilah’s father is running for governor of New York and wants to maximize his daughter and her notoriety in ending the Umbrella Man case. Plus pulling his new son-in-law into his campaign.
There is a cliff hanger at the end of the book as this author always does but she recaps things in the beginning of the next book. This is a series you will love. It is my favorite, although, I do love everything I have read of hers. You wont go wrong picking up this book or this series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Good to see Lilah made it through her honeymoon!!!! Where did they go? What happens as soon as Lilah touches back down on terra firma? Who is Jack Cox and what had me snorting and then laughing at the end of just chapter 2? Oh, goodness, this book got so intense, so quickly that I was almsot finished with it before I knew it! The read was so quick and kept me from putting the book down. Who is Ted? What do we learn about his job? Why does Lilah go to an old movie theater? What happens when Lilah gets called into the last room as the techs are there collecting evidence? How many murders end up getting committed? How many are close to getting committed? Who does or what does Lilah suspect about the murders? Why does she go to one of her father's events? What happens there? When a note comes from Andrew to meet him, does she go? What happens because of her decision, whatever it was? Talk about one heck of a cliffhanger!!!! I did NOT see that one coming!
I could not wait for this one to hit my kindle and once it did, I could not put it down when I wasn't working or sleeping. This is the seventh book in the Lilah Love series and Lilah and Kane are just back from their honeymoon. They don't even get their feet on the ground good and her phone rings with a case. There are suspects around every corner and someone is always after Lilah or Kane. But this case seems to be trying to shake up Lilah and at times it looks as if it might be working. That is until she gets close to Kane and he centers her. Then it only makes her mad, no one messes with FBI Agent Lilah F%$king Love Mendez. This story is fast-paced, leaving you on the edge of your seat, wanting more, and that ending had me ready to throw my Kindle. I need more NOW. **I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.**

Reading through the whole series, I feel that you really need to read them as pairs to avoid any frustrating cliff hangers. All books build on each other, and the storyline felt more 'complete' after every second book.
Happy Death Day (7) and The Party Is Over (8) Just back from her honeymoon Lilah is thrown into a new murder case which soon becomes another few. All of them has taken inspiration from horror movies.
