He’s lucky as sin, and we’re playing for keeps.

For sixteen years, I’ve lived unlawfully among humans, supporting myself by playing poker. But concealing my fae identity isn’t easy. When a high stakes game goes terribly wrong, only one person stands between me and lifelong servitude—Seven.

Seven Delaney runs his corner of Dragonfly Hollow with the insufferable arrogance you'd expect from someone born lucky. Not only did the sexy fae billionaire break my heart, he’s responsible for the most humiliating experience of my life and is the reason I fled that fairy realm.

Returning to Dragonfly Hollow is my only way out, but there's a price. Seven requires my help, and my pixie talents, to solve a case that threatens fae society's tentative relationship with humans. I promised myself I'd never get involved with him again, but his dark charms prove hard to resist. The closer we get to solving this mystery, the harder it becomes to keep my distance. And the clearer it is that if we don't learn to trust each other again, our luck might just run out.

From award winning and USA Today bestselling author Genevieve Jack comes a world where fairies are real, luck is the new magic, and the unexpected awaits you on every page. Perfect for Dark Fever and Hidden Legacy fans.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Luck was on my side when I received a copy of Lucky Me by Genevieve Jack for review. Now this being my first time reading the author’s work, I didn’t know what to expect. However, the blurb intrigued and so I dove into the story, hoping to be entertained. It did not disappoint. In Lucky Me, Jack treated her readers to a delightful second chance, forbidden, wrong side of the tracks romance.

Sixteen-year-old pixie, Sophia Larkspur, felt she had no choice but to flee her home in Devashire after a humiliating experience. Since then, for the past sixteen years, she has been hiding out in the human world. However, as an undocumented fae in the human world, she’s not safe and therefore constantly has to be on the move. Her luck in keeping her identity secret from humans ran out, and she found herself in a very dangerous position. However, as luck would have it, she was spared a fate worse than death. However, the rescue came at a price. She would have to return to Devashire and work with her ex, Seven Delaney, in solving a murder.

World Building: Faes live on a magical reservation, independent of the United States and segregated from humans. It was illegal for faes to live among humans. There were several species of Fae living in Devashire, but the ones featured prominently in the story were leprechauns. pixies and satyrs. Of the three, the leprechauns were the ones with the most luck and are in the upper echelons of society. They see the other species as beneath them. Therefore, the idea of one of their kind fraternizing with a pixie or a satyr wouldn’t be welcomed. So Seven and Sophia’s relationship was doomed before it started. There are several unique happenings in this world, but I will let you discover them for yourself.

Murder Mystery: Someone was killing pixies and humans, and Seven and Sophia were tasked with the job of finding the killer. These two worked so well together in their investigation of the murders. There were a few hiccups along the way, which was partly because of history with each other. As they progressed through the investigation, interesting details came to light, some of which were good and some which placed them in dangerous situations. Through it all, they had each other's backs. If only it could spill over into their personal lives. Now it came as no surprise learning the killer’s identity, as they were my number one suspect.

Characters: Seven and Sophia possessed strong qualities. Seven acted differently from other leprechauns. With Sophia as his best friend and the girl with whom he was in love with, his treatment towards the other species spoke volumes. The pain, hurt and betrayal they both experienced leapt from the pages. Learning of the atrocities Seven experienced as a child and because he dared to fall in love with a pixie will probably wreck you.

What I had Issues With

Now I know Sophia was hurting, believing that Seven played a role in her humiliation sixteen years ago. However, sixteen years is a long time to hold on to a grudge. I didn’t like how she treated him, especially knowing he came to her rescue at the time she needed it most. She gave him a hard time and never afforded him the chance to explain his reason for not being where he promised to be sixteen years ago.

The ending took me by surprise and not in a good way. I am not a fan of cliff-hangers but will tolerate if I am aware it’s coming. When I picked up Lucky Me I was not aware that it was part of a duology. So I never expected a cliff-hanger. Therefore at the point when I thought all would be well for the couple, Jack dropped a bombshell that would present further challenges for Sophia and Seven. Now I will have to wait on the release of the second book to learn what the fates have in store for them.

To conclude, Lucky Me is a charming second chance, forbidden romance that will magically transport readers through a sea of emotions as they traverse with the couple on their journey towards happily ever after.

Lucky Me? Lucky us! The incredible imagination of Genevieve Jack opens up a vault of fantasy and deliciousness that I could only hope for, but feared to dream.

Sixteen years ago, a teenaged pixie Sophia Larkspur left her home in Devashire to pursue a difficult life on the lam in the human world. Fae are forbidden to live amongst humans, but Sophia has her reasons. When she is forced to return to Devashire, she has to face, and work with, her ex, the infuriatingly handsome and lucky, Seven Delaney.

This slow burn, second chance, wrong-side-of-the tracks romance is richly and delectably written. I could feel the depth of Sophia’s emotions to the pit of my core. I started drooling over her sexy, suave leprechaun the moment he appeared, leaning against the fairy gate in his expertly tailored bespoke suit.

It is undeniable chemistry that ties Sophia and Seven, and the entire story, together, and this author is so expert in creating it! But beyond that is the unique and exciting world-building. The Fae live on a magical “reserve” in the United States, segregated from humans. There are three species of Fae: leprechauns, pixies, and satyrs. While the latter two can fraternize at will and have their own measure of luck, the leprechauns are the most lucky (read “privileged”) and are the upper crust of Fae society. Leprechauns hold themselves above the other fae species, so when a young Sophia and the young Seven fell in love and prepared to bring their illicit relationship out into the open, it was a scandal in the making. Think of it as a pixie Meghan Markle hoping to marry into the premier white family of the entire planet. That path was paved with heartache and scorn.

I love the original and wholly conceived rebranding of fairy and leprechaun lore, the fabulous secondary characters, and the chilling mystery component that puts Sophia and Seven in real peril. Genevieve Jack cements herself as one of my top favourite paranormal authors with this layered, emotional, and complex introduction to Devashire. She brings levity to her narrative, while quietly commenting on the harmful effects of discrimination, bigotry, and stereotyping. Lucky Me is a standalone, but there is so much content bursting out of the story that there are followups that beg for their own stories to be told. I am settling in and hopeful for more leprechaun tales from this author!

All the fae books in the past decade taught me to expect elvin-like main characters. I was not ready for leprechauns and pixies to stand for “fae”. I liked the fresh air that this book gave. It was quite interesting. I am eager to see the future works of this author.

This was a different take on a lot of Fae tropes. The book didn’t have magic, rather luck, which I thought was a brilliant idea. Overall, I’ve never read a book with some of these ideas and details, so that was refreshing. That said, this was a type of humor and subgenre that usually isn’t to my taste, so I’m trying to extricate that from my review.

The MC is an “undocumented Fae” who lives in the modern U.S. and is discovered so she flees back to the designated Fae land. Basically, a reservation. It even has casinos, as well as legal prostitution and the Fae must be in character when they’re in the city that allows humans. I was a little unsettled with the parallels to US history and subjugation of Native Americans and immigrants. For a book that had a lot of “silly” takes on the world and people, it was juxtaposed to some pieces of history and current events that were difficult to reconcile. Silly and the creation of reservations or the hunting of undocumented immigrants just didn’t blend and kept taking me out of the story. I don’t think that’ll be everyone’s experience, though.

The characters were a little cartoonish in that they had some exaggerated features but weren’t necessarily fully dimensional, which would’ve worked if the plot was only romance, but with a murder mystery to solve and mentions of domestic and child abuse, again, it was just a weird mix.

Finally, the description of coughing up the seeds of emotion was just another sort of bizarre detail that definitely made me cringe.

This was a quick read with decent pacing and some very imaginative and original ideas, however, it seemed like the story just tried to include too much in some areas and not enough in others. I had the ending reveal figured out early but the way the story got to that reveal was just not executed well and didn’t jive with the character well.

Lucky Me is HERE! Reviews are in and readers are loving it!

"This book was amazing. Secrets, surprises, lies, betrayal, romance, bigotry and a murder mystery. All I can say is WOW." - Paranormal Romance Guild

"Holy smokes, that was incredibly fun! You know when you go to an amusement park and get on a ride that you aren't sure what you've gotten yourself into, and it ends up being one the best you have experienced? That was Lucky Me for me. The amusement park analogy is because most of the book is in an elaborate amusement park. First off, in many ways, I felt like I was in a Shrek-like world filled with fairies, pixies, leprechauns, etc., and they are carrying on in modern existence. It's brilliant! The author explains how this could be quite plausible and sets the stage for this, at times hilarious, mystery and love story that is fun and gripping." -Beautiful Chaos Reviews

Sophia has been living in the human world since she left Devashire 16 years ago for reasons of her own. Being an undocumented fee among humans can be dangerous. Now, she needs a place to hide and returning to her family may be her only choice. Safety has a price. The price is working alongside a sexy leprechaun responsible for her humiliation a long time ago, Seven Delaney. Together, they need to solve a murder that threatens the peace with humans. Can they resist their attraction? Will they discover the darkest secrets in Dragonfly Hollow?

The book has the right name because I felt lucky to discover this new author. This is an incredible fantasy with a slow burn and second chance romance. I never read a romance between a pixie and a leprechaun during a murder investigation. It was really creative and well-written. The moment Seven appeared leaning against the fairy gate with his cocky smile, I know he would be trouble for the libido of Sophie. I was right! 😜 The chemistry between them is undeniable and reading it, it’s really entertaining.

You make me feel lucky, Sophia. Truly lucky.

Another aspect, I love about the book, is the subtle way the author shows some human problems in society, but in the fae community with the side character (pixie, satyr and leprechaun) and how it impacts the personal lives of some.

After a little research, this will not be the only book. I’m really excited about that. I was sad to let go those characters. I need my physical copy.

You will find in this book:

Adult Fairy Tale
Second chance romance
Forbidden romance
Slow burn
One Tent
Murder/mystery
Spice

I have been on the hunt for the best leprechaun romance for the month of March and I found it! Apparently there aren’t a lot of Leprechaun romances I searched and couldn’t really find what I was looking for. Then for fun I searched on Tik tok and came across this one. This was exactly what I was looking for!

This book was amazing and I have never added the next book to my kindle so fast in my life. I loved the enemies to lovers between our main characters Sophie who’s a fairy and Seven who’s a leprechaun. Seven broke Sophie’s heart and now they are forced to work together to solve a murder. In order to protect Sophie and her daughter Arden from being discovered by FIRE who think they are criminals. The mystery element kept me on my toes and I did not expect who the killer was at all. Seven’s backstory of why he stood Sophie up at the Yule Ball destroyed me! I loved the world building, I loved the chemistry between our two characters. I loved that there was more plot then spice because I was so invested in all the characters. Even the side characters like the satyr and the relationship between Sophie and her parents. Seriously go read this!!!

Excuse me while I go read book two because I need to find out what happens next after that ending! Thank you Genevieve for creating the book I was looking for!

This is my first book from Genevieve Jack and it will definitely not be my last. The way she drew me into this story was amazing. There were twists and turns and such amazing writing that once I started reading I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
This is such a wonderfully unique storyline, though the second-chance, billionaire description had me not realizing how truly unique it would be until I began reading. The way she described the magical world of the Fae was done beautifully and I could really see this world start to come alive while I read.
Both Sophia and Seven are strong in their own right. The history between the two of them had me angry at how Seven stood Sophia up and humiliated her, however, I knew there had to be more to what happened and I couldn't wait to get that explanation. When they are forced back together their connection is still so strong and even though Sophia wants to keep her walls up around him it is impossible to deny.
This book really does have everything! A sexy billionaire, a mystery that needs to be solved, drama, suspense and lots of action.
I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! This is a must read book for sure!

I actually enjoyed this book. It was filled with magic, pixies and leprechaun all over.

Seven and Sophia were soo soo nice characters. All through the story you can see that he still loves her even after 16 years. She was a bit hesitant for all of this. Yes, she still had feeling towards him, but she just didn't want to admit it. The heat between them was definately there. The spice was quite good l, there was a decent amount of sexy times. I hoped that there will be more times with smut in the book, but with the way the story was going, there wasn't a chance to do it. And I see why. But that didn't stopped me from loving the book.

What really was interesting, was the investigation they were doing with. At first you do wonder who's behind all of the murders and after a while you can figure it out. I am actually looking forward to the next book from the series and I am soo happy that there will be next books, because the story did finished on something like cliff-hanger.

I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

I LOVED this book! This was a breath of fresh air from all the fantasy and romantasy reads that I usually pick up. The world-building was so well done. Detailed enough to make the reader want to know what's next in this series. Flashbacks from Sophie's POV were great for plot development. Cozy setting but suspenseful plot were a great juxtaposition and gave me great spooky season vibes.

Plot: This well-written book follows Sophie and Seven in a second-chance romance in a world full of pixies, leprechauns, satyrs, and unseelie. It's a contemporary time period set in a Theme park for humans to experience the world of the fae. Gave me lots of Disneyworld vibes with the different city/towns for the fae. But not everything is as perfect as they make it seem to the humans. Sophie and Seven are forced together to solve a gruesome pixie murder and have to face the feelings they put behind themselves 16 years ago. Or did they?

Tropes: Second-chance, forbidden love, accidental pregnancy, one-tent, class dyanmics, crime solving

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A badass pixie and a rich, sexy-af leprechaun? Sign me up!
I adore a good second-chance romance, and Sophia and Seven are made for each other even if the rest of the fae world disagrees. The world-building was phenomenal--creative yet believable--and the plot kept me turning the pages.
I can't wait to read the conclusion to their story in LUCKY US. <3

A great new fantastical murder mystery tale for adults Fairies full of fairies of the leprechaun, pixies and satyr varieties. Sophia Larkspur – now there’s a pixie name – has returned to childhood home in the fairy realm of Devashire or to be more precise the commercial arm of the realm that humans are allowed to visit known as Dragonfly Hollow, think a real life Disney World. She’s hiding out from FIRE (Fairy Immigration Rehabilitation Enforcement Agency) after attracting their attention at a poker game. She’s been illegally hiding out in the human world for sixteen years after getting pregnant with a half human child. To stay in Devashire she has to make a deal with the devil aka Godmother who runs the Hollow with an iron fist. To stay she has to help Godmother’s head of security, Seven, find a murderer but Sophia has history with the sexy leprechaun, whose alleged actions led to her complete humiliation on prom night years before and ultimately her leaving the Hollow.

I’m surprised by just how much I enjoyed this book. The concept of the story intrigued me from the start with its underlying message that bigotry and discrimination is everywhere even in a fairytale land. That there is a fairy hierarchy where leprechauns are the elite with pixies and satyrs only deserving of the crumbs from their tables. Genevieve Jack has created a fantastic world with very much a vibe of Tim Burton about it and I can’t help but imagine what he would make of it. There is chemistry between Seven and Sophia but any romance is very much a slow burn. I also loved the murder/mystery element. It gave an added depth to this book and kept me engrossed throughout.

With fantastic characters and great world building and an ending that definitely hints ‘to be continued’ hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve heard from Dragonfly Hollow and its inhabitants.

Alright, this was not what I was expecting when I read the synopsis. It’s definitely more than what I expected. This is my first book from Genevieve Jack and I hesitated going into this book because the idea of reading about a pixie and a leprechaun just wasn’t my thing. But this world that the author has created is incredible and imaginative. It’s highly entertaining, adventurous and definitely strays from the stereotypical mythical creatures we often hear too much about. Now this book is coined as a second-chance, billionaire novel but let me tell you that I have rarely read a novel where both characters were so vulnerable in all the right ways. Not in the can't-help-yourself-annoying-ways but all in the best ways. 🙂 Both Sophia and Seven are strong in their own right but they have this vulnerability that allows them to be human (ironically, they are totally not human haha). They are independent but yet, need each other to lean on. They’ve both led lonely lives and it’s been a hard fight to re-connect and to be together again. I love that Seven is so sure of himself and of what he feels for Sophia. He is extremely charismatic and just right for someone like Sophia. I’m nearing the end and getting nervous that there’s only a few pages left but I still don’t have a happy ever after. I actually did not know that this was going to be apart of a series so yes, I definitely panicked. Haha. Looking forward to what’s next in store for Seven and Sophia. I feel that after all this time, they deserve to have each other and I hope we won’t have to wait too long before we get that wonderful HEA.

We have Seven, the dashing and wealthy leprechaun whose family runs the casino portion of the amusement park and is "high society" in this magical community. Sophia is a pixie from the wrong side of the tracks, and we learn their history. Their love story is a rocky road they are still on, and I am sure the author has great plans for them in books to come. We get one mystery solved before we are left with a sort of cliffhanger to hold us until we can get the next book. There is much going on in this world we haven't even begun to dig into. It is so unique I can't wait to go back. Get yourself a copy of Lucky Me and meet these delightful characters.

This book dosen't disappoint from the beginning your drawn into Sophia Larkspur's life she's more then she appears and her luck has just run out 16 years away from Dragonfly protecting herself and her daughter back home lies teenage heartache and deadly secrets. But when Fire a government agency finds you it's torture or escape her days of playing poker have taught her one thing how to bluff but when the ex who broke your heart draws you back home with your daughter to stop a murderer what do you do bluff Sophia bluff. Seven Delaney is lucky in all things except love as a Fae Leprechaun he holds all the power except for two people Fairy Godmother and his father one is chilling the other not much better these aren't the cute little creatures of your childhood there cunning, conniving and down write horrifying Seven's love story has one bump in the road after another with murder, lies and mayham around every corner its easy to see why these two have a hard and dangerous road to love.

The world building the detail of Dragonfly the twisted plots and social structure are laid out in away that draws you in to a place were the fairy plot and humans live out a fantasy but nothing is as it seems and I will never see the Toothfairy the same way again. And the characters are so real there pain and vulnerability and strength you want Sophia and Seven to win and I can't wait to read the second book but please let there be more of the criminally crazy world of Dragonfly Hollow.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Absolutely loved this book!!

I've read Genevieve Jack books before and this is definitely going to be one of my new favorite series.

I mean... let's see. This book has fairies, leprechauns, satyrs, pixies, the tooth fairy (except he is not a good guy! Lol)

16 years ago, Sophia left her home after discovering the one night she was with a human resulted in a pregnancy. She used her luck to make it in the human world undetected from the authorities since they aren't allowed to leave their home.

Except one night she's discovered by FIRE - the government group to find rogue fairies- and taken to their facility for torture. Her daughter sends the troops in to rescue her, but she has to be saved by her arch benefits nemesis, Seven. Seven had been her best friend until the night he showed his true colors... or so she thought.

Now the Godmother is making them work together to figure out why strange murders are occurring ... and being this close to each other is making feelings return.

I absolutely loved this book!!! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Well, I just inhaled that book in one day! 🥰🥰🥰

This is the first book I’ve read by Genevieve Jack, and it definitely won’t be the last. The world building was very creative and fun, from the theme-park style world that the fae live in with its seedy underbelly and prejudices, to the pixie gardens, to the luck magic and class structure of their world, the story is very vivid and emotional in ways I was not expecting.

And the characters! It’s so refreshing to read a romance where the main character is in her thirties with a teenage daughter of her own. I loved reading the relationship not just between Sophia and Seven, but also Sophia’s parents and grandmother, her daughter, and her childhood friends that she had left behind when she fled the fae realm.

This is the first book in a duology, and I’m excited that we get one more book but also kinda sad because there will only be one more. I’m not ready to leave this world or these characters. I could read ten more books in this series and be very happy. Or maybe just very lucky 🍀 🍀 🍀

Sophia and Seven had a hidden relationship and she actually believed that they could have a future even though they both knew that a leprechaun and a pixie was a no,no anyway. But the night of the Winter Festival when she realized that things were not as they seemed when she is left to ride alone in the parade. Years later she is caught by F.I.R.E. while out in the real world and she keeps her secret from them but it seems Donovan the interrogator is having none of it but something happens and things change for the better. Seven is a Leprechaun whose father is the big dog in Devashire and will not let anyone forget it. He attempts to stand up to his father but was stopped in his tracks. Seven becomes head of Security for the Godmother. A very entertaining storyline and characters. Romantic suspense, bigotry, manipulation, kidnapping, imprisonment, violence, love. I read a copy via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

My first Genevieve Jack book and it was magical, truly. In a world of pixies, leprechauns, a Godmother and a whole secret community there are still bad guys. Tucked into a secret realm exists a little village for tourists, humans, to visit and gamble. But it’s also a home for the fae, they have businesses, schools, and cities. Not everything is rosey, crime is still possible in a perfect place like Dragonfly Hollow. When Sophie comes back with her daughter, after 16 years, she realizes nothing has really changed except the gossip. She ends up helping an ex boyfriend with a problem and finding how much she really missed home. When I started to read my advanced copy I thought it would be a fun romance but when the mystery and suspense started I knew I found something special. And it’s going to be a series. My review was written voluntarily after reading an author provided copy.

What the fae did I just read? Pure intensity !

My head is still spinning from this glorious, thrilling, passionate, heart breaking and deceit filled roller coaster ride of a story. Every twist and turn of the plot had me wondering what fresh torture was going to happen next. I want book #2 now to see where this story goes! Who knew leprechauns were undeniably sexy and hot and that pixies were tough as nails? I never would have thought such a dark romance between a leprechaun and pixie would be one of fhe best books i have read in some time. How Genevieve Jack comes up with the stories she does is amazing. Her storytelling skills are artfully woven with every emotion that anyone who has ever been in love or parented a child feels. I am going to be thinking about this one for days to come.

Genevieve has such an original mind! This story is so unique and different than any other PNR I have read, including books of hers! Seven is so vulnerable and yet strong at the same time, while Sophia is strong but ravaged on the inside. Godmother is not of the Cinderella variety, that’s for sure! This story was a page turner for me, and I was highly annoyed at unavoidable interruptions from my life! I loved every minute of this book, even when I wanted to cry for the struggles that kept Sophia and Seven apart. I was rooting for Seven and Sophia to get that happy ending they so, so, richly deserved, so imagine how I felt when this book ended on a cliffhanger! Genevieve, you are killing me! I really can’t wait for Lucky Us to be released! What a beautiful, fun ride this story was!!

Wow!

Seven is a billionaire leprechaun whose family owns a large portion of the fae world. He was very close to his beautiful pixie friend and he wanted her for his own. But leprechauns are not allowed to be with pixies because they are beneath them. When they were going to come out as a couple at a town party, Seven did not come. So,16 years ago Sophie left their world and ran into hiding in the human world after a horribly traumatic and embarrassing moment.

Now brought back into this world with her daughter Arden, after being hunted in the human world, things are definitely not as they seem.

Can Seven help her and her daughter. Will the truth hurt or help the situation? And who is killing pixies and humans?

This story has so much going on. I am so ready for book 2. Must read series! Enjoy

Lucky Me by G. Jack is the first book in a new series.
Sophia is a pixie living with her daughter in the human world. But circumstances bring them back to fairyland.
And there lives Seven, a leprechaun. Both are childhood friends, but are living totally different lives.
Tasked to erfüllen a case both learn there's still ember under the ashes.
An highly entertaining read, excellent, unputdownable.

such a wonderful story!

I love this book! The unexpected twists and turns! I could not predict what the pages held! Genevieve always captures me with the words on her pages and I can’t put it down!

I hope that Sophia tells Arden the truth and Pursues the relationship. Can’t wait for book 2

I really enjoyed this unique, magical story. I loved the whole supernatural type world and the magical system within it. I’ve never read a leprechaun/fairy romance so this was new to me, but I loved it! I thought the plot was great, I loved the characters and I think I’m going to move on to the second book!
I received a digital copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

The start of another great series. I loved it of course. Usual likeable characters, great touches of humour and a story arc that twists and turns. A few steamy scenes to get your blood pumping and a mystery to be solved. Brilliant.

slow burn

This book was extremely unique from anything I've read, and I have read a lot of PNR. It gave you a different spin on some supernaturals and their interactions with humans. If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend i
