The seal on the spell that’s been keeping my Fae side in check is due to break tonight at midnight…
And I’m set to marry a man I don’t really know, and what I do know of him, I don’t particularly like.
All because some stupid prophecy (from before I was even born) proclaimed as much.
Talk about a crappy deal…
With my Fae powers set to take over and the threat of becoming the Queen of the Winter Court becoming all too real, I find myself stuck at the bar of the Half-Moon Grill in a full-blown pity party.
In walks Maverick, a bounty hunter who occasionally works for me and who’s become the closest thing I have to a friend in Haven Hollow.
Learning of my predicament, Maverick offers me a way out—marry him instead.
At least in title only.
Marrying Maverick would definitely free me from having to marry Prince Reynard of the Autumn Court (otherwise known as Fox Aspen). It will also resolve that blasted prophecy, but after my first marriage went down in flames, do I really want to go for round two?
Short answer: no.
But it doesn’t look like I have much of a choice. It’s either marry Maverick, and my life will basically stay the same, or I don’t and suffer the consequences.
Little do I know, the consequences are coming for me no matter what I choose…
I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.
My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.
Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!
This is the 24th book in the Haven Hollow series. It is a collaboration between HP Mallory and JR Rain. The book falls in the Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre.
We’ve seen a lot of Taliyah as a secondary character throughout the series but this is the first book told from her point of view.
Taliyah is in trouble. The prophecy says she must marry before midnight tonight. The Fae Courts of Winter and Autumn are insistent that she Marry Prince Reynard of the Autumn Court but nobody will tell her why. Marrying him means leaving her life in Haven Hollow to take her throne in the Winter Court. It means taking her human sons to live in the Fae realm; something she doesn’t want to do. It means leaving Taliyah behind to take on the mantle of Queen Olwen, a persona she rejects.
During her pity party in the hours before her fated marriage, Maverick comes up with an alternative plan. One that will allow her to remain true to herself and the life she has built as Taliyah. The prophecy says she has to marry but it doesn’t say who she has to marry.
Maverick’s plan could be her solution but it doesn’t come without consequences, as Taliyah will find out. Maverick’s plan works to prevent her marrying Prince Reynard but it also breaks the alliance between the Autumn and Winter Courts and threatens civil war in the Winter Court, which spills into the streets of Haven Hollow and threatens her very existence.
The Haven Hollow series is written from a variety of points of view and features stories from Wanda’s Witchery, Poppy’s Potions, Spook Society, Haven Homes, Remarkable Remedies and Princess Procedural. They all run in parallel with each other. The reading order so far is:

Taliyah is not having a good day, her powers are coming in fast and her wedding date is getting closer and closer. She doesn't want to become the queen of the winter court and even more she doesn't want to marry the prince of the autumn court. Enter Maverick, Wanda's brother, he gives her an out that could save her from heading to the Fae court as their queen. What they don't know is that the consequences have a way of biting you in the butt and taking you away from those you care about. Will they be able to fight for what they want and what they both need even though they might not know it. Ok I have to admit something to you all Tallyah really wasn't my favourite character in the other books, but she redeemed herself in this book . I finally got to feel the pain and hurt that Tallyah had in her heart. She has been through so much and we get to see the hurt she has in her heart. Tallyah really grows in this book and becomes one fierce woman who will not let anything get in her way. Maverick really came through and he really showed us that he is more then just Wanda's brother and misfit in a way. They are a great fighting team and prove that there can be a love between them. It is fun to always go back to Haven Hollow it is like going home. Each book has a different character featured. The characters are well written and complex and you really cheer for them. The authors have created a town that has all the feelings of any small town but they are supernatural's. This was a fun read that I couldn't put down. I laughed so hard through out , I mean Taliyah making it snow in her living room alone is so funny, I really enjoyed this story so if you want a fun read check it out
Armed and Charmed is the 24th book in the Haven Hollow series, and book one in the Princess Procedural spin-off. Taliyah is the narrator for Armed and Charmed and I really loved her story. She has some very compelling arguments about marrying Fox and being whisked away to the Fae court. Then again, the Fae also have some compelling arguments about why she needs to marry Fox and be whisked away to the Fae court.
Taliyah has found a friend in Maverick (Wanda’s cousin), a blood warlock, and when he suggests they get married, she doesn’t hesitate to say yes. This eliminates her need to marry Fox and fulfills the prophecy. Unfortunately, her union with Maverick results in some unintended consequences and doesn’t absolve her from some of her decisions.
Armed and Charmed is a wonderful first book in the Princess Procedurals series (and book 24 in the Haven Hollows series) by H.P. Mallory and J.R. Rain. This writing duo brings interesting stories, intriguing characters, and thought-provoking mysteries to life. The character development provides history and growth, and the world-building creates a fantastic world to watch the characters do their thing.
I had a really hard time with this book in the series. I really liked the character Fox Aspen up until the last couple of books. He went from as good a guy as a fae Prince can be to one so rigid in his thinking that when he can’t force the result he thinks is his due he leaves an entire town that has come to respect and count on him in serious danger. At the same time I really didn’t like Chief Morgan much from her arrival in the series. I found her rigid, cold and more than a bit self centered. She thinks she isn’t fae yet she is far more manipulative than the prince. The only thing that really humanized her in the entire series is her friendship with Maverick. I love that she was concerned about what her new reality could mean to her kids but it really seemed secondary to the changes it would require of her. The idea of these two rigid fae ever being able to find common ground and marry felt a bit like a joke. It is well written but I spent most of the book wanting to smack both of them up side the head and tell them to get a clue.
Dare I say...This one is my favorite so far of the Haven Hollow series!?!?! I love this series and all the fun and interesting characters. Taliyah hasn't always been my favorite; she quite literally fills the Winter Queen role perfectly without even realizing it. Mallory and Rain have changed my mind where Taliyah's concerned though. #24 has brought her into a new light that makes it a lot easier to connect and understand her. Also...Maverick..HELLO!
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It held my interest and I wanted to find out what was going to happen. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is #24 in the Haven Hollow series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author.

Armed & Charmed, book 24 of the Haven Hollow series by HP Mallory @hpmalloryauthor & #JRRain This is an ongoing series based in the small town of Haven Hollow. I'm a bit behind on the series! 😂 Excellent as always! This is the start of Taliyah & Maverick’s story.
Wonderful read about Taliyah/Olwen and her problems about having to marry Fox and be the Winter Queen... She does not want to choose!!!! She wants to keep her boys and be Chief of Police in Haven Hollow.
I still sometimes get annoyed with the characters, but the writing partnership is becoming seamless. I can’t usually tell whose writing I’m reading anymore.
Love the Haven Hollow clan. The characters are all so entertaining. Thank you for keeping me on the edge of my seat. Thrilled to see what happens next.
