When I first saw the cover of Protecting Dove, I thought of a cyborg. Dove looks like a china doll, unreal, but as we delve into the story, all is revealed. She is an albino. I have never read a book about an albino character and I love that one of my favorite authors has given me that experience. Sun can be deadly and Dove will be put to the test in Protecting Dove.

Dove is a member of Prey security, the chief financial officer. Her favorite thing about being wealthy is the clothes. She rarely wore things more than once and had all the accessories to go with them. Another passion is her ability to give back.

She is dressed for the charity ball, but when she opens the door for her bodyguard, she never expected to see him, Isaac Anderson. He had saved her life two years ago, but because he had seen her at her worst, she wanted nothing to do with him. Of course, we know things will not stay that way.

We know with romantic suspense, there will be some push and pull with the romance, and some danger and action. Even though most things are predictable, Jane Blythe creates fascinating characters with their own personalities that make them stand out as individuals and puts them in intriguing situations.

Dove quickly captured our hearts, mine and Isaac’s with her:

“I’m sassiness not sweetness.”

Dove grew up, with the rest of her family, learning how to defend herself. Looking at her, small in stature and pale as a china doll, makes her seem fragile and defenseless. She was always aware of her surroundings, could cry on cue, and used all her ‘disabilities’ to her advantage. Beware those who underestimate her.

For the first time in her life, she is at the center of danger and wants to show her family that she is not defenseless, that she has skills to defend herself…and those she cares about.

“You smell delicious, like cake.”

I had to share this quote because of Jane Blythe’s writing…

She doubted it was possible to smell like cake down there, but she wasn’t going to ruin the mood and tell him so.

Every character in the series has a tragic story to tell and Jane Blythe comes up with a story that is unique to each character. She can write some sappy romance and I love it. Sprinkle in some steamy sex here and there, danger and intrigue, and a happy ever after, and I will forever be a Jane Blythe fan, eagerly devouring every word she writes. Whenever I think the worst is over, she will come up with something else, and even when I know something is coming, it can still be a surprise.

Just because this series is over, don’t fret. Jane Blythe will be spinning off in another direction that is sure to visit these familiar characters again. I do love these ongoing series, where the characters almost seem real and I become heavily invested in them.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Protecting Dove by Jane Blythe.

Dove is the baddest Oswald of them all. She has distanced herself from her family for a long time.
As the baby she feels like there trying to run her life.

Sweetness. I told you I’m sassy not sweet.” As she’d hoped he grinned and moved to stand. “I’ll try to remember that, sassiness.”

Isaac is her big time crush but he doesn’t feel like he’s good enough for her. He wants to save her but she not a shrinking violet.

“Whatever my lady wants, my lady gets?”

This is a super fast paced conclusion to the Prey siblings. Going in we didn’t know a whole lot about Dove but she proved to be tough as any of her brothers or sisters.

I absolutely loved Dove! Not having known much about her character prior to this story—apart from some basic facts like her albinism and that she was the chief financial officer for the Prey Security firm—I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Every other family member had been tough, capable and confident. Dove is all of those things but in different ways.

The strength Dove displays in any perilous situation shows how tough she is but she has to overcome more because of her inability to stay outdoors in the sun for great lengths of time. Her mental and physical strength, although questioned by Dove herself at times, is much more solid than she realises. Although Dove experienced terrible trauma a couple of years previously, she put herself last and her family first; that’s the type of person she is at heart.

Isaac saved Dove once before but during this story numerous times his self doubt has him terrified he won’t be able to protect her. His past plays havoc with his mental health too, even though he knows he’s more than capable of protecting Dove—mind you they do end up in some sticky situations! I felt so much for Isaac but fortunately for him he has great support in an unassuming character we’d previously met. Together Dove & Isaac are a powerhouse of passion and sexual chemistry that literally steams up the pages. 😄

The action is dispersed throughout the book and was intense, I truly feared for both characters. Annnddd yep, you do go on that old emotional roller coaster ride with this story but it certainly isn’t a hardship. I have loved each and every book in this series and am a tad sad that it’s ending. However, Deadly Risk is releasing soon so yay!

I loved Dove and Isaacs story especially cause I adored everything about Dove, she was so fierce but she also wears her heart on her sleeve and between the two of them and the rollercoaster of ups and downs I couldn’t put this down

Another absolutely amazing read by Jane Blythe. She does not hold back in this book and we are faced with some traumatic events for our heroine, Dove Oswald. I loved reading Dove and Isaac’s story. Although Dove is the youngest Oswald sibling she most definitely is a very strong woman with a very sassy nature. I would say she is my favourite of the female characters, even though she had had to deal with albinism all her life and at times it leaves her vulnerable, it certainly does not take away from her strength which is one of my favourite traits. Isaac has his vulnerabilities also but Dove is there to help him move forward and built a future together. A fast paced book that had a lot going on but never losing it’s intensity in the story or plot. I am so very sad that this is the last book in the Prey Security series and although I have enjoyed this series in it’s entirety I am always looking forward to reading more of Ms Blythe’s books. An amazing series!

I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Talk about an emotional rollercoaster! I adored this book, wrapping the series up with Dove’s story is the perfect way to end it. I think Dove may be one of my favourites in the Oswald family. She may be the younger of the siblings but she’s just as tough, brave and kickass as any of her military trained siblings!
I’m actually a little sad this series is coming to an end, I’ve so enjoyed the suspense, the drama, action, romance, this series had it all! Jane Blythe sure knows how to grab your attention and not let go until the very last page! Loved it!

did some else write this book?

It was awful and I only got to chapter 2. I liked the rest of the series but dove was down right dumb and Isaac was not smart enough to be in the military and the little I read not a lot intelligence to take care of dove. And really couldn’t understand how they were adults when they spoke like 15 year olds I’m in awe of how bad this book is.

Dove and Isaac have a connection unlike any other . Two years ago Dove was attacked and suffered the type of tragedy that no one should have to endure . There are only two other people who are privy to that information and one is Issac ( the man who saved her , who is ex military and works for prey security. ) since everything that went down , Dove has tried to move forward with her life . She works hard but at the same time has emotional struggles. She has never shared with her family what happened and she has not been able to get romantically involved with anyone since . But all that’s about to change when she unexpectedly comes face to face with Isaac again . Their journey is definitely not a easy one , it’s the type it journey that’s definitely going to grab onto all your emotions and pull at your heartstrings. There will be moments you’ll have a smile on your face and others you will literally find yourself crying so freaking hard while , all the while rooting so hard for both to get their happy ending . Suspense, intrigue, off the charts chemistry, twists and turns, romance, family , friendships, obstacles, heartbreaking and heartfelt, non stop action, wonderfully written characters, awesome world building, angst , humor , witty banter , unforgettable and unputdownable. Every time I pick up one of Jane Blythe’s phenomenally written books I know without a doubt I am not only in for a real treat but a very long night of reading . And I’m always right

Absolutely adored this book, a wonderful addition to the Prey Security world.

Dove and Isaac are explosive together!! Jane could not have picked anyone more perfect for Dove.

This rollercoaster ride grabs a hold of you and takes you on one heck of a wild ride full of suspense, danger, family, pain, love and a huge wallop of steam and chemistry.

I adore Isaac. He’s the total alpha package wrapped in mouth watering yumminess.

I hated to watch how he’d shut himself off after the pain of his childhood and feelings of having failed the people he’d loved the most. I think Jane portrayed this beautifully, after all we are all the result of our pasts, some good and some bad, but our past definitely plays a part in defining who we are or how we perceive things. Jane Blythe absolutely nailed this.

Dove is a beautiful character. She has experienced something no woman should be subjected to and yet she has the inner strength to push forward and try to live her life.

I don’t think Dove actually realises her own strength and determination though. At first she is simply concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other and simply getting through the day, which is both admirable and understandable.

But watching her come into her own as she finds herself smack dab in the middle of danger was awe inspiring. Dove seemed to blossom under Isaac’s belief in her.

Watching Isaac understand just how strong and capable Dove was, and allowing her to revel in it was so endearing. What woman doesn’t want a man to know her strengths and is willing to stand side by side and allow you to flourish … oooo my ovaries just fluttered.

The addition of Dove’s albinism was wonderfully portrayed. The understanding Jane put forth was informative and added an extra layer of depth to a story already full to the brim.

Watching Isaac and Dove traverse the danger and explore their feelings to find a beautiful gift of love. Their connection rock solid. Their chemistry red hot.

Can’t recommend this book highly enough.
There aren’t enough stars in the sky to fully treat how wonderful this story is.

Loved the "Prey" series...

Feeling slightly anticlimactic right now...bit of sorrow, actually.
You couldn't help but fall in love with the Oswald siblings. If it could happen, go wrong, be unsafe, or simply a misunderstanding that became a huge deal, these six siblings have dealt with it all since losing their parents twenty years earlier.
Dove, the youngest, brilliant, the family's manager of money, or portfolios, and seemingly the weakest link.
But that's not Dove Oswald! She is strong, able to think beyond the moment, and fierce, even if youngest, with a physical issue that kept her from joining the military like most of her siblings.
Issac, saved Dove once almost two years previously, saves her again, with her help and this begins another Prey wild ride.
These two seem to fall into danger and chaos. Neither gives up!
Enough, read the final story in the Oswald family, while not the final in Prey Security.
But if you missed the first five, go back! Start with Eagle, you're missing so much if you begin here!
Jane Blythe, I love your writing, but adore Prey security! It keeps one engaged from the moment you begin to the very last word!
This has been the best series, or beginning of a series, and I loved it all began with the six siblings!
Another crazy, dangerous, save the world, realistically kind of way, awesome novel!
I simply loved!

Jewel thieves, survivalist's plots, revenge and crazed ex's all are peppered throughout this highly suspenseful, action packed romance. Protecting Dove is one of those books you just don't want to put down. Isaac Anderson and Dove Oswald both wrestle with personal demons and let their fears rule their lives. He was there to save her at the lowest point in her life and that meant something. Now almost two years later, he's back and just in time to save her yet again. He calls her sweetness but all she wants is to show him how sassy she really is. Now they've been caught up in not one but two deadly situations. One where they only had one another to rely on. The second they get an assist from a SEAL team. It demonstrated just how well they are matched and what a solid team they make if they truly loved and trusted the other.

I have always been a huge Jane Blythe fan. You can’t read these kind of stories anywhere else. She is definitely one of a kind and her stories always blow me away. From the emotional wreck I find myself to how much near and dear her characters are to my heart. Protecting Dove was a perfect story to finish this series strong.

The angst and determination - the highs and lows! The drama and OMG moments!! I drifted away with these characters that I did not want to come back. I love the Prey security team and excited on how much they expanded. This is the reason I will definitely come back for a reread!

The last time heiress Dove Oswald and personal security Isaac Anderson saw each other was 21 months ago. Dove was in the most humiliating and vulnerable point in her life and she didn’t think she’d want to see him again but she really did. That doesn’t mean Dove wasn’t surprised when Isaac, in bodyguard mode, comes to escort her to a charity event.

Isaac isn’t exactly there on Prey business, he’s pretty sure he has a personal connection to one of the thieves robbing the guests of these events and maybe, just maybe he can talk them out of this wayward life. Things don’t turn out as Isaac hopes but in helping Isaac while he mends, both Isaac and Dove end up where they’ve wanted to be for a while…together!

Protecting Dove

Wow! It's awesome that we get to experience the great talent of Jane! This story involves the baby of the family - Dove and Isaac. As always, it's intense right from the beginning. It takes over two years for this couple to get together but it is very dramatic on how they do. Dove felt like she had to prove herself to be strong to her family and herself. Isaac had to overcome his fears as well. Going against a lunatic was a very scary and intense part of this story. It was a tense moment for both Dove and Isaac but they persevere after the battle with the lunatic. It's nice to see all of the siblings alive and very happy with their significant others. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book and this series!

When you think the danger is past

Dove and Issac. I wondered where the danger was going to stem from and it was a shock to see the return(ish) of an old nemesis. Dove is a fighter and she showed that by overcoming three different sexual assault scenarios, helping fight out of bad situations, remaining loving and kind to family and others while she healed, etc. Issac is new to the series, but not the family as he has helped Dove before. Their chemistry is intense but Issac has some deep insecurities regarding love and relationships due to his family. Together they fight and love to make it through their obstacles and get their HEA. The rest of the siblings and some of the SEALs show up to help save the day and of course everyone has a good loving moment at the end.

Its the baby of the family's turn to find her HEA. Dove has distanced herself from the family due to keeping a secret about an attack 2 years ago. She also has not been attracted to anyone since then. However a not so chance encounter with the man who saved her puts wheels in motion. Will Dove be able to move on from her attack and will she share it will her family? Also will her and her bodyguard Issac find something that will last a lifetime like her siblings. Will they stop shielding her from the world and treating her like a baby? You have to read to find out. I think this is my favorite Oswold sibling book.

Dove's story is the final Oswald siblings story in this Prey Series. Being the baby of the family she has always been protected.

Dove has past trauma and albinism, she feels her siblings don't see her strength and that they doubt her ability to be as strong as them.
I loved how she overcome the situations she faced and her self confidence grow throughout the pages. This sassy not sweet woman handles everything head on with grit and determination to keep fighting for what she needs.

I would say this is not as steamy as some others in the series but the plot is full on with lots of substance and genuine emotions.

Protecting Dove is book 6 in the Prey Security Series.
Dove has distanced herself from her family for the past 2 years due to an attack that she did not want her family to know about. She has kept busy with work, and has not been interested in anyone since the attack.
Then she is reconnected with Isaac, the man that saved her.
Isaac is ex-military and works with Prey Security, he feels a connection to Dove but is reluctant to get close to her. He has some baggage of his own.
This was such a great read. Full of emotion, romance, suspense, and danger.
I could not put this book down!

This is the last book in the Oswald Family series (Don't worry, Jane Blythe has more Prey Security books coming!!). This page turning book was full of suspense and romance. There are twists and turns that you don't see coming! The H showed up as very Alpha wanting to protect Dove but also in love with Dove. Dove, while portrayed by her family as weaker due to her condition, she was smart and would not be stopped. I absolutely loved how her family came together to support her.
I'm sure we will see more of the Oswald family as the Prey Security books continue.

I have really loved this series, in this one we come to the youngest, Dove.
She's out to prove to her family that despite her albinism she's just as tough as them. Her doubts were in her own mind, especially after a traumatic experience in her life. Isaac comes back into her life, he's saved her once before and doesn't expect to have to again. He had his own agenda but it overlapped into her life.
Plenty of excitement and action in this story, I couldn't put it down.

This series just keeps getting better!  Dove and Isaac might be my favourite couple.   Lots of action right out of the gate and it continues throughout.   There is also some heat.  I love how Jane Blythe makes her characters realistic and relatable.   In this book some of Susan Stoker's Seals of Protection:Legacy characters make an appearance and I was thrilled!

This was a fantastic way to finish a series.
For those wondering what on earth could happen in this book witn everything tied up with the previous, never fear the author has you covered over multiple continents.
I never saw any of it coming.
I'm so glad this isn't goodbye to the Oswald's with so many teams planned.

Loved this book! The emotions, the determination, the grit, the angst, the suspense, the romance...all made for an excellent story. Dove and Isaac were a great duo, loved seeing them work out their problems and find their HEA. Also enjoyed visiting with the rest of the family and seeing them all interact; as well as watching them bring Isaac into the family fold.

Protecting Dove

I was bored with this book. I also don't like books where the heroin is raped. Having a main character raped is something authors use because I find their story weak. Entirely too many writers can't come up with original stores without using rape. It's the same old same old.

Plot twist

When I first started the book, I wondered where Jane was taking us. The initial threat was eliminated rather quickly. Jane then threw in a plot twist I never expected. I like thinking about possible scenarios but love it when I'm (pleasantly) blindsided. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. 😊

got so confused

So he lived with Nova at one point but then later it talks about him and his lack of relationships and the longest was 6 weeks. That discrepancy just really bothered me because I felt like I was literally reading about two complete separate characters.
Aside from that, I like the overall book and story.
