I really enjoyed this book, it was very unique. It was hard for me to put down and I read through it very quickly. The beginning of the book really pulled me in and surprised me but I loved it.
Halloween, the satanic panic and the Zodiac Killer... I'm ready.. sign me up.
Did he hear, 'My sweet Satan'? Maybe. Kind of sounded like it. All RJ does know for sure is that this song is awesome.'Thanks Calvary Chapel,' RJ thinks to himself, 'You just made me a Led Zeppelin fan.'
Well, congrats! I'm pretty sure that backfired on you. So much for keeping Satan out.
I thoroughly enjoyed how the theme/idea of/events of the satanic panic were dealt with in the book. Just to see how things could easily go sideways and create such hysteria was interesting, thrilling, and at times hilarious.
That being said this book went a lot different then I expected it would considering the above mentioned subjects. That's because although that stuff is in the book, the main focus lies within the group of boys we follow.
I must admit I was surprised I enjoyed this book as much as I did seeing that what drew me to the book was not the main focus. There were so many levels of events taking place that it gave the book a ton of depth. There was so much more meaning behind the story that I don't think I would have gotten from a serial killer slashfest.
A truly heartfelt story that makes you realize what the important things in life really are. All while taking you on a ride of fear and hysteria.
** A book that hits me in the feels will always get bonus points with me.
