Falling for your Ice Queen boss is a really good idea... right?
This is a Grumpy/Sunshine, Age Gap, Rich Girl/Poor Girl CEO Ice Queen romance. Totally steamy, loving and sweet and always a Happy Ever After.
McKinley's creative dreams are in tatters and a job interview as a retail assistant at the Headquarters of the biggest chain of women's sex stores in the US is the only hope she has of keeping her head above water.
She just has to get through the interview with the reknowned dragon CEO Alev King first.
Alev is very hard to please, but she seems determined to work closely with McKinley and McKinley can't help but feel the burning heat of desire whenever she is near her.
She just wants to please Alev, but will the walls around Alev's guarded heart ever come down enough to allow her to?
Oh boy - I struggled with this one. I enjoyed the first book in the series, so picked up the others. Unfortunately, none were as good as the first and a couple were really lacking. This was one.
While I enjoy erotic romances, this one was over the top. I wish the author would at least let the characters behave in a professional manner for even five seconds before fantasizing about all the ways they are going to f**k each other’s brains out.
The progression of the story and conclusion was beyond far fetched. Listen - I wasn’t expecting great literature, but erotica can be hot, sexy and have a solid story at its base.
I only stuck with it for Abby Craden, who did the best she could with the material. It’s unfortunate she didn’t record this as her alter ego Alexandra Wilde as this is more suited to the erotica she does under that name. I gave this an additional star just because of her.
It started off well, I liked the buildup and the dynamic between the two MC's. But toward the end it became way too cheesy in a way that didn't suit the previously established image of Alev.
This is the 4th book in this series ,I have to say was not too sure about it. But as the chemistry between Alev and McKinley increases I became more involved, this is a different way of dealing with the Ice Queen/CEO issue as Alev is the one that has issues and it takes McKinley to reach in and give her the love she needs. Enjoy as once again Ms Hayes invites you in to her wonderful world
Emily blows your mind with exquisite novels that has you hooked until the end. Enjoyed both MC's insight to their actions. Can't wait for book 4......oooh
Emily Hayes has penned another hot novel with this story, set in San Francisco, about Alra, a middle-aged, emotionally damaged divorcee and the icy CEO of Wicked Orchid, her sex toy and accoutrements empire, and McKinley, an unemployed, depressed struggling writer from Austin, Texas.
When McKinley finds a job with Alra’s flagship Wicked Orchid retail store, the CEO becomes enamored with McKinley’s innocence, enthusiasm and creativity, which the younger woman regains upon joining Wicked Orchid.
Soon Alra and McKinley’s intense sexual attraction climaxes in the CEO’s office, despite Alra’s absolute ban on getting involved with any employee.
And although McKinley persuades Alra to relax her hands-off employees stance, a new opportunity means she must decide which path to follow for her best future, and Alra has to learn to trust again after being betrayed by her ex.
Hayes’ latest offers two memorable main characters, sizzling sex scenes, arresting emotional upheavals, supportive friendships and a satisfying HEA.
I read another book of the Serie already and since i liked or so much i got this one as well. The book is very well written, has the classical CEO ice Queen who is in her 50s. Alev is a powerhouse CEO of her own sex toy company. One of her stores needs new sales-personal enter McKinley. A free spirited writer in the urgent need of a job. I very much like how the connection between these two forms within the book from some inapproproate actions between CEO & employer to a sectet sexual relationship. The step of "coming out" as a couple after one session with her therapist was a bit rushed for me and not very realistic. Also McKinleys quick desision gainst her own education and for Love after just hearing the first commitment from Alev when it was one of her biggest struggel for weeks doesnt sit well with me. The end felt rushed, sure the book is about the way they met and come together but with the way they are and the pace of the book it was just to quick...Switch, boom and happy ever After.
Still the writing of Emily Hayes is amazing, i will definitly read more of her work, the series is so far 4 books but all are stand alone work, since this story blurb sounded most appealing to me this was my 2nd choice of this serie to read (after book 1)

The Ice Queen CEO series has been a good one. This story had the chemistry, the storyline, the characters. An adult store for queer women was a brilliant storyline. The CEO of Wicked Orchid, Alev is tough, determined and sexy. After her divorce where her wife cheated on her, Alev has a strict no attachment policy with the many women she has been with and a no employee entanglement. That is until McKinley applies for a sales job in one of her stores. The storytelling has the chemistry, the banter, the flirting and the excitement. My only negative which I don’t usually have with Emily Hayes books is the epilogue. It felt rushed with a lot of info tossed in and then we get into a whole other issue with McKinley and The Lix Club and multiple partners after they just fought to get together. A side note I had stopped reading that series because it became confusing with too many partner scenarios. Hopefully that won’t happen to this series.
Not gonna lie this one was a bit predictable in outcome, coming into these stories I kinda understand I won't be completely wowed by the characters, depth, or wowed in outcome either, however, that didn't entirely detract me from the characters and their, metaphorical, of course, depths explored.
One big thing I did enjoy that makes me keep it at a 3 and not lower, is simply the age-gap is hardly even mentioned at all while they're 'servicing' each other and I liked that approach more than usual with beating it over the head of the readers that they're so far apart in age. Liked it, sure, but I don't think I can actually read this one again. Maybe if I was feeling myself, but she's honestly got better age-gap and steamy romances than this one that come to mind.
When the two MC finally gets together and one goes "I honestly can't believe it!" and you go yea I can't believe it either. I've been marathoning the CEO series and couldn't really feel the chemistry with this one. I don't particularly like writing by convenience either like how the MC couldn't decide on what to do and suddenly an ex bf that hasn't talked to her in a decade suddenly calls out of the blue to give her this epiphany. There were zero reasons for the call too. What I've noticed in these books are a lack of details and attention to certain things plus following through with what they started. Though I guess it being so short it's hard to incorporate all that in hence a 3*.
Oh yes, this is what I was looking for! A great story hot, hot, hot off the presses!
Emily Hayes has hit a home run with this sweet hot and sexy love story. She has thawed the ice queen, melting her into a puddle from the heat generated from the relationships forged in the fiery scenes she wrote. The catalyst of emotions sparked by the interactions of these women simmering in lust and desire, torching the fire to a full on blaze. Yes, I do recommend this book, bring your glass of iced tea to quench your fires, you are going to need it!
Some just suggest an ice queen, but one third into this book and you are like yep ice queen. I had choice words for this icy one. And good for Alice for giving her a piece of her mind, although that's part of her nature to a fault. Hm. Starts with spice then it gets Angsty. Again. Nice delivery for a short story. The author made it work. The mood and angle was really nice. Steamy torture for sure.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. McKinley is scrappy, but beautiful and a talented erotica writer down on her luck. Only to be interviewed by Alev, the CEO of The Wicked Orchid a high end sex toy chain of stores. McKinley gets the job, and the attention of Alev. Plenty of hot sex and a good story!5 stars!
I really enjoyed the CEO series, this one is just as hot and steamy as the others! If you love the sapphic love story with ice queen, age gap, workplace romance and likable but deeply imperfect Ice queen, then this book is for you! The epilogue is a little long, but I don't mind at all because of the perfect ending.
Wow, what a fantastic storyline. I loved the main characters their chemistry was hot, and their journey through it all was written with so much depth. it definitely a must-read congratulations
Everything was great, the build up steamy and curious, but we got to the drama it jumped to fast to solve everything, feeling a little like a cliché. The ending was a little blah I felt like I didn't need the epilogue
The ice queen melted toward the end...both good and bad! The conflict was good but toward the conclusion it did not suit the our main ice queen "image"
I really enjoyed this book, i like how she dealt with her trauma instead of being overly dramatic. I loved this book so much, was super hot and super cute.

A pretty decent book for what it was. I listened to it on audible so Abby Craden is just good, but I liked the setting and such. Not too cheesey! I dont think I will read this one again!
