What a great end to a fantastic series! Heir of Starlight and Truth focuses on the epic concluding battle between Kelera and the ever-wicked Samael, so there was plenty of action, but nothing was overly explicit. There was some blood and death, but if you’re not a fan of heavy blood and gore, I think you’ll be okay with the descriptions of the confrontations. Even if you’re okay with heavy descriptions of violence (like me), J.M. Wallace did an excellent job describing the fighting and magical combat to keep you enthralled. Every storyline introduced throughout the series wrapped up nicely, and all of the awsome supporting characters returned to feature in this final book. I was very happy to see Kelera finally able to reconcile and accept her dual human and fae nature.
The first two books in this series were more plot-heavy than this one, and I found this final book a bit predictable. At times Kelera was a bit too oblivious to what I saw as obvious tricks and tactics by Samael to manipulate her into losing. However, I really loved the conclusion of Kelera’s journey and her relationship with Adrastus. I don’t want to give too much away, but I loved that they faced everything together, and even when their future was in doubt, they relied on each other. I get tired of when authors make their couples face obstacles and pull them apart again and again throughout their series before giving them a HEA. I appreciated that Wallace decided not to torture her hero and heroine too much. We got to see them support each other and have some happy times even while facing the possibility of a very bleak future.
I highly recommend the Claiming Elfhame series, and Heir of Starlight and Truth was a fantastic final book for this series. I highly recommend it to any fantasy-romance reader who loves a book with a heroine who goes on a journey of self discovery, a damaged but loveable hero, strong friendships, enemies to lovers romance, and fae politics and tricks.
Heir of Starlight and Truth was a great end to the last book in the Claiming Elfhame series by JM Wallace.
In this book Kelera needs to make the decision on how she can protect the Elfhame community at the risk of losing Dras. Can she fight Samael to the end while obstacles keep stacking up against her?
While this book was full of action there were a lot slower pace scenes where there was self discovery, disclosed secrets exposed and friends coming together that made this book whole.
Also, I loved this book that dived deeper into the Elder Faes courts and how they set the rules for Elfhame. I thought it expanded on the story accordingly and it just reminds you that you can never trust a Seelie/Unseelie let alone an Elder.
“You set my childhood home on fire? Perhaps you need a new nickname. Little arsonist has a ring to it, doesn’t it?” - hands down probably my favourite quote in the whole book. 🤣
The last book in the Claiming Elfhame trilogy, the Heir of Starlight and Truth adeptly wraps up the story.
I found the pacing to be steady throughout the book. If it weren’t for sleeping or obligations, I wouldn’t have put it down!
Kelera really came into her own in this book. This story really highlighted her strength, both physically and mentally, as she endured so many things. Adrastus was charming as ever, led by his love for Kelera and his scorn for the brother who tortured him. The side characters added so much depth to the story.
Emotions – sometimes I was happy, and at other times, I was sad. Sometimes both! I loved how I was drawn into the story and its characters.
Definitely my favorite of the trilogy, Heir of Starlight and Truth was a fantastic fantasy romance read.
Special thanks to the author for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are honest and my own.
I really enjoyed seeing how this trilogy wrapped up. It had all the intensity of impending war that I expected without getting lost in the battles. The characters were just as fun to follow as ever and I enjoyed the extra HEA of the epilogue immensely! (I did receive an ARC of this, which I truly appreciated!)
I could not put this series down. I do like the ending, and contrary to popular belief, the feel-good happy ending that almost all of the main character s receive was a wonderful end to a wonderful series with great plot.
A great conclusion to the series. I loved seeing how the characters grew and all the support she got from all the courts. I did not want to put down this book
Honestly a great end to the series, I feel like it had a great storyline and was very entertaing, I'm so sad to see this series come to close, Great series, one of my favs!
Book three takes us through the struggles that would produce a fitting conclusion. Again,if I was just rating based on Adrastus, it would be a definite five star. Again, Kelena vacillates between confidence and guilt throughout, which gets tiresome. Yes, she gets through at the end. Supporting creatures and fae are well defined, with the villains getting what they deserved.
What a wonderful story! I enjoyed it so much. Loved Adrastus and Kelera story, it was written so well. This author was new to me but definitely will be looking for more books by her.
💥Overall opinion: What an ending to this amazing trilogy! I can't rave about these books enough. The world building, the amazing characters, and everything in between was written and executed magnificently.

*THIS IS THE THIRD AND FINAL BOOK*
⚡️POV: Third person
💋Tropes: Forced Proximity Soul Mates Enemies to Lovers Betrayal Royal Court Politics/Intrigue Faerie Folklore Unseelie Princes Dark Magic
💣Main Character Rating: Kalera - 5⭐️ - her character growth has been an amazing thing to watch through these books! She started out naive and meek, but by the end, she became a powerful and bada$$ FMC who took no crap and went after what she wanted. She never did anything halfway.
Adrastas (Dras) - 5⭐️ - from the beginning, his character draws you in and never lets go. He's the epitome of anti-hero, but you root for him until the very end. One thing he always did was let Kalera make her own decisions and then stood next to her, no matter what she decided. That was my favorite thing about him. Because of that, she was able to become who she was meant to.
🌶Spice level: 1/5
🚫Closure: I'm so sad this is over, but I'm so happy that these books exist. She is a truly talented person and creates magic with her words. You can't help but get lost in this world of Seelie and Unseelie Fae! Can't wait to see what other books this author has up her sleeve.
I absolutely loved this conclusion to the Elfhame trilogy. I love how it all pans out and all the revelations and discoveries. The support shown to Kelera and Adrastus is phenomenal although not entirely unexpected. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves fae and incredible world building with truly believable characters
Did not disappoint at all, was excited to see keleras And Dras story continue. Definitely a must read, it’s got everything for love to adventure to finding oneself.
