U2 in the U.S. (Outside is America) covers the bands' first tour dates in the United State beginning in December 1980 and following the band into early 1991.

Carter Alan was a DJ at a major radio station in Boston - WBCN. Not only did he interview the band numerous times but he was also with them at many of their early American tour dates. Along with his personal interactions, he includes the reaction of fans and press at the time.

I should mention that Carter Alan is a friend of mine and I was also at the early performances and backstage gatherings that he relates in the book. I never read this when it was published and it's about time that I've finally gotten around to it now.

Carter captures the amazing reaction of fans to U2s early shows and how close the band felt to the audience. If you like U2 or you want to learn their history in the States this is a book worth reading.
