Jonathan Gibson ’s 2 Peter Bible study helps participants learn how keeping heaven in view guides their daily goals and choices while strengthening their hope. According to 2 Peter, one day the earth will be renewed by fire, and we will live together in a new world where all wrongs are righted and all sorrows swept away. Because we have this sure hope, we can turn from living for ourselves and for what we want in the moment. Instead, we can follow Jesus into the hardest places as we keep eternity in focus. 2 Living with the End in Mind helps readers learn to follow Jesus into the hardest places. We live for Jesus and grow like him, because some day we will be with him forever.

Jonathan Gibson has written another fantastic book for New Growth Press’ The Gospel-Centered Life in the Bible study series called 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind! 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind gives an overview of the book 2 Peter, but because it is a short book in the New Testament in the Bible, I feel like it was able to go a little more in depth than a typical brief overview. It is set up like previous The Gospel-Centered Life in the Bible study series I have read where each chapter is split into 3 sections-Lesson, Article, and Exercise. Each chapter focuses on a few verses of 2 Peter for the Lesson section. The Article section expounds on what was brought out in the Lesson Section, using Mr. Gibson’s life experiences and making life applications through them and the Biblical Wisdom God gives him. The Exercise section offers unique and thought provoking insight to help the reader think and process what they have just read. There is a Leader’s Guide to help do the study as a group, though I think it will also be an effective study regardless of a group or individual study.
What I love most about Jonathan Gibson’s 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind is how chock full of Truth it is. I used 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind as part of my own devotional time and highlighted a majority of the book, making lots of notes. Not only did I love the Truth that was in the Study, I also love the Exercise section of each chapter. I thought each Exercise in 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind was interactive and really made you think and get to the root of what the Author was trying to get you to get at. I also love the Article section sandwiched between the Lesson and Exercise section and hearing Mr. Gibson’s personal stories enhanced the reading for me. 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind lets you know/reminds you of things and instances you need to be aware of to stay in the Race, yet encouraging you to stick with it, keeping the End Goal in mind. If you are looking for a Bible Study that’s full of Truth, that will challenge you to keep going with “the End in Mind” then I highly recommend 2 Peter: Living with the End in Mind by Jonathan Gibson!
