The answer is .
I was loving the dynamic between the main characters (the FMC is pursuing the much older MMC, who promised her father that he’d look out for her, and she’s kind of a bratty pest 🤣), but then it kind of tipped into the “omg, too far!” territory.
Still hot but also 🥴🫣 at times.
Entertainment level was higher than enjoyment level on this one, I was so conflicted while reading. 🤣🤣🤣

I picked this up for a fun holiday read. It was comical at times, weird in an entertaining sort of way, but I can’t say I found it hot or particularly sexy, especially with us being constantly reminded of how dirty he was… and not the filthy mouth sort of dirt, we’re talking like not showering, grease in his hair, dirt under his nails sort of dirty.

Mitch is the 34-yr-old neighborhood “fuckboy”. This part was a bit underdeveloped because we’re told that he’s basically slept with the town, but it’s not really explored or a problem. Krista has no jealousy or issues with having past women around, the one OW causes zero issues and disappears. I’m not really sure why it was mentioned. Krista is his 18-yr-old neighbor that is home from college. The two are very close because her mom is a bit of a loser, and he and his grandma stepped in to sort of raise her when her dad died.
What I liked. I thought the writing was witty and entertaining.
What I mean is, you may have recently added R-rated content to your PG catalog, but you’ve always been the only channel I want to fucking watch
I found both characters likable and loved how confident Krista was. Yes, it was VERY far-fetched that a chubby (her words) 18-yr-old would be so self-assured, but I found it, SO much more enjoyable to read than a silly, blushing young girl saying it won’t fit.
What I didn’t love. I didn’t find the smut sexy at all, and the lack of any conflicts or obstacles made things start to feel redundant, so I got bored.
Bottom Line- Cute but a smidge boring at times.

Though Krista has always loved Mitch, he on the other hand has tried to push any inappropriate thoughts of her from his mind. He’s 15 years older than Krista, but he’s also helped raised her after the death of her father and her mom’s depression, which prevented her from taking care of Krista. Mitch is like a father figure for Krista, but this Christmas changes the feelings between them.
This is a super steamy book! The writing flows well and the characters were likable! There’s reindeer role play (cause Christmas) and Mitch is obsessed with breeding Krista once they decide to be together. I enjoyed it!

That was um... interesting.
Gods this was SO bad. It was like reading some teenage Wattpad story. So many errors and cringy moments. I wanted so badly to DNF but I really needed one more book to finish my 100 book goal for the year. This book was the equivalent of a car crash or train wreak. It's so awful but you can't look away. I can do a book with no plot if the smut is good, but it wasn't even good. It was repetitive. And when it wasn't, it was just weird. Sex in front of grandma?? A wooden dildo/butt plug?? Can you say hello yeast infection? How many times can the F word be used in one book? Because holy crap. And "big d***" or "fat c***"? There's so many other words that could be used for describing. I wasted 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

DNFd at 70%, it just wasn't working for me. I think it was actually too smutty which is not something I ever thought I'd say, but after a while it was just losing all effect. I also didn't like the dialogue, felt really unatutal. I have read others from this author and enjoyed them

I would definitely read something else by this author, but I kind of feel like there were two different books mashed together in this one, and I ended up not liking it as much as I initially thought I would.
The beginning of the book is an age gap romance that was pretty freaking hot, ngl. Krista returns to her hometown after her first year at college to make a request of the dirty-hot man who's been taking care of her since her father died. She wants him to take her virginity, and hopefully want to keep her forever. I'm not usually a fan of age gap romances, and daddy kinks are not my thing, but the whole thing was so freaking hot, so....
The majority of the plot for the first half of the book is Mitch worrying that Krista is too young, even though he wants her too, and the two of them talking about their futures and how the town might react. I figured the story would keep following this trajectory, with the townspeople maybe giving them crap and them rubbing it in their faces or something.
After they finally decide to couple up and get Krista pregnant, it just turns into a reindeer roleplay sex fantasy.
It just felt so out-of-the-blue and I didn't get it. They go from hiding blow jobs behind a desk while talking to the town gossip so no one knows they're together to wearing antlers and snorting at each other. It just felt too haphazard, and I ended up not really caring about what would happen and feeling bored with the story, especially when you have essentially the same scene done twice. But I guess I can cross reindeer kink off my smutty bingo card, so there's that 🤣

I was going to give this book two stars but it isn’t a two star book. It’s very much a “your kink is not my kink” situation.
Pony (I guess technically reindeer, in this case) play is very much not my kink. I read it, it kinda turned me off to the book when that was the majority of the last third of the book.
However, it wasn’t poorly written. If this had been my thing, I probably would have been giving this book four stars easily. Also, while I’m neither here nor there about breeding kinks, I will say this book made me see the appeal.
And there were some 🥵🥵🥵🥵 scenes (the counter scene at his shop was *chef’s kiss.*)
There were still things that annoyed me though. Like the 20 yeast infections she’s gonna get and her probably UTI because she never, EVER, seems to clean herself and he’s always covered in grease.
Also, the author is apparently unaware how breast pumps work because they definitely do not suction cup to your boobs.

Disclaimer: I got this book for free on Kindle. I participated in stuff your kindle day where I got a bunch of romance books for free, roughly 2,000 books. I normally do not read romance books but I wanted to try the genre. I typically read fantasy, science fiction, biographies, and classics so this is way out of my comfort zone. My plan is to draw a book at random without reading the summary, title, and avoiding looking at the cover. As long as the book is not too graphic for me or leads into something uncomfortable, I will be attempting to finish as many of these books as I can in 2024. I understand that many of these books will likely not be top tier but I am hoping that I can learn something about the romance genre as a whole and figure out if any types of books in this genre are for me.
