My only complaint about this book is how you read it. This needs to be on either kindle unlimited or as a promo or something on Apple Books or kindle in general. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that you have to wait every day for a chapter to open at a certain amount of time during the day. On top of that, you are forced to buy coins when it’s the last 3-4 chapters of the book. I had to buy coins twice to finish this book, it isn’t too expensive but it’s the principle of it all. This is why it took me almost 2 months to finish this book. If you know me, you’ll know I wasn’t going to sit around and wait for chapters to unlock, I had to read other books on top of this and now I’ve finally finished it! I even started another book in Yonder so I can get free coins but that didn’t happen at all, so now I’m immersed in another book on Yonder even though I don’t like how you can read books on it but I’m too invested now to stop. Anyway, rant aside I had mixed feelings throughout this book. It started off really good then declined when we get to Zoey’s point of view, which was a nice surprise after being in Emma’s thoughts the first half of the book. At first I liked being in her head, but then she just became annoying and it just felt like filler chapters. I wasn’t getting anywhere with either Callum or the men from the bank. This is how I’ll call them since they all play a significant part of this story. Zoey tries to get answers about the supernatural, while also getting involved with werecats and she doesn’t stop until she has answers and her worries lessen. Meanwhile, Emma is engrossed with Callum and they grow their relationship, considering how it started, then stopped for 10 years only to find each other again. Emma focuses on getting Callum to remember her but it’s like he’s refusing to acknowledge it until one day he just gives up on his distancing and accepts his feelings and attraction to her. I wouldn’t know because we don’t get into his head within this book, nor do we know what’s going on with the bank boys. I felt like though this story was really good, and it definitely deserves a 5, there was too many questions left unanswered and it felt like I was just reading about Zoey and her bank boys or Emma and Callum. When you introduce supernatural creatures, I find myself wanting to know background about them, and we do but it takes too long. Plus I felt like there were people Zoey was talking to through her MyFanatics account that just adds more questions and assumptions on my end. I could have done without that unless we were going to talk about them eventually. Near the end of the book, I was enjoying it more and wanted to know how Zoey moves forward with the bank boys. That in itself could have been a whole other book but while it kind of gets resolved, I feel uneasy about Kebe and the bank boys finding out about what Emma, Zoey and Kebe did. What is the next step? Because this left me with more questions and a cliffhanger. I don’t know if the author is keeping this open ended, or if she’ll write more from this world.
