An Immortal's Redemption

Rate this book
Demons are malevolent entities that feed on pain and suffering. Sometimes your demons aren't just in your head.

As a young, small-town woman, I should know more than just this crappy, lifeless job at the local café and the strained, manipulative relationship I have with my boyfriend, Javon.
I crave more in life than just… this.
One fateful night, I was graced by an exquisite and mysterious man. He saved me from an assailant, and I soon learned he’s that little more I crave in life.
A few kisses turn into a little something more, something sensual and hot like nothing I’ve ever had before. But, little did I know, he would prove to be an escape for me from that darkness that tugs me down and burns through my heart.
I soon learn that this mysterious man in town has dark, chilling secrets that challenge my beliefs and faith.
The world is at risk of being consumed by dark forces lurking beneath our toes, and I’m caught up in the middle of it all.

For as long as she can remember, Antonella Sinner has always had a passion for reading. Growing up, she always asked herself what she wanted to be and has always answered with the same: a writer, creating and fabricating stories she so wishes she could find on shelves. Today she writes dreamy romances full of paranormal beings of all kinds with a few touches of spice here and there.

Born and raised in New York City, Antonella lives with her beloved furbabies, Juliet, the Shih Tzu she’s had since she was nine, and her recent adoption, Major, the spoiled brat of a Persian cat her family loves to call the Pharaoh of the block. When Antonella isn’t writing her next fantasy she’s either binging a TV show or nose deep in a fantasy romance book.

This was a good read! I enjoyed the overall plot and was absolutely surprised by the twist at the ending!

Okay, let’s talk about the things that could have used a little more work (this does not mean they are bad!):

The world building was very 2-dimensional. There were different settings, like the coffee shop, her home, the park, etc., but there were not a lot of details about these spaces and how the characters interact with them, aside from telling us that it was cold outside and the things they directly see and hear in these spaces. I would have loved to see the characters look at something and think fondly or negatively about something that happened to them in the past and what they are feeling in that exact moment.

Speaking of the characters, I would’ve liked a more in-depth view into their personalities, especially Talia and Narcaiel. As our two main characters, we see them interact with the world and people around them, as well as each other, but we really only see vague conversations and interactions. Conversations between Talia and her mother and best friend are specifically very straightforward, which can totally happen in some instances, but it felt more like an obligation to include those interactions rather than the characters actually wanting to interact. There needs to be more “show not tell” in these instances.

As for Javon, he felt more fleshed-out as a character than any of the other ones did, and I think that was because his personality, which was very bipolar-sounding and off in some places, didn’t allow for just a linear path with similar interactions. So even though his reactions and actions themselves were very conflicting, it made him feel more real.

And just super nitpicky, I noticed a lot of repeated descriptors, specifically the word ethereal. It was used so much, even twice in the same sentence. It’s not a huge deal, but for me personally, it starts to pull me out of the world a bit when I catch things like that. Same thing for grammar error, which every book is going to have, but always check, check, and recheck! Again, super nitpicky.

Now, let’s get to the good parts:

The sex scenes were very well-written. I love how detailed they were because every smut-lover wants to read a good sex scene, and detail is always key in these instances!

I really appreciated that Talia was starting to stand up for herself in her toxic, mentally abusive, and manipulative relationship. I was always so frustrated after basically everything Javon said or did. And I always loved Narcaiel standing up for her too.

Overall, this was a really good read! Happy reading!

“Demons are malevolent entities that feed on pain and suffering. Sometimes your demons aren't just in your head.”

I received an advanced review copy of the book from the author. In the beginning, when I realized the book was almost 400 pages, I was scared of what I put myself through. However, when I started reading, I didn’t even realize how fast I finished reading it. It was a fascinating story. While taking you into the world of paranormal romance, it is a story that inspires us, mostly women to know we deserve a peaceful relationship full of love and respect. As Antonella Sinner puts it, “toxic people and relationships ... can be horrifying with the way they twist the narrative and brainwash you into believing you’re the root of the problem, when in reality, it’s the gaslight themselves.”

I recommend the book to lovers of paranormal romance or just hot romance novels. Thank you Antonella Sinner for the copy and wish you all the best.

This was my first read of Antonella Sinner. I will say that I loved reading this story. It has a great paranormal romance storyline. This book contains a content warning in the beginning and should be read before reading the book. It contains a forbidden love but also contains a biracial relationship which I love. I recommend reading this book as it gave me tears in the epilogue but they were worth it. This book was Amazing to me and I can not wait to see what Antonella has in store for readers next.

Wow. I got this as an ARC and I loved it. The only complaint I had was that it started to drag somewhere around 30% but it did pick back up. It's a great paranormal romance. A good romance on general. Be sure to read the content warning in the beginning. The characters' development was phenomenal and believe me, there are tearjerker moments.

I liked Narcaiel and how he showed Talia what love is.

I did not see it coming with Javon! I knew something was up BUT THAT 🤯 I flew threw the end because I needed to know how that battle would end

The spice was good! The build up was sweet and scorching hot 🔥

22-year-old Talia is making choices—dating Javon (are we supposed to hate him?), crossing paths with the mysterious Narcaiel (this is a Forbidden Celestial novel, so you know where this is going), and diving into paranormal dreams. It’s a quick read with plenty of drama, but hey, she’s 22—bad decisions seem to be her thing. Right?

Heads up: This is a cheating trope, which I know many readers dislike. I don’t mind it, but I didn’t care much for the book or its characters. It’s slow to medium-paced, has 3-4 spice peppers, and comes with a trigger warning for an attempted SA scene.

Final thoughts: Talia’s messy love life and questionable decisions overshadowed the celestial war I wanted to read about. Angels make odd choices, Talia’s dramatic, and I side-eyed every character until I started skipping pages. While it had potential, it just wasn’t for you. It's not my favorite Antonella Sinner book, but it might still work for die-hard paranormal romance fans.

Really I’d give it 3.5 ⭐️s. I loved the concept of the story. Good vs evil in the form of angels and demons is a winner. The overall story was captivating and I was intrigued by how it was woven together. When I reached the last third of the story, I couldn’t put down the book.

The characters were entertaining and varied. Everyone needs an Olivia in their life. The spice and the battle scenes were good. Descriptions made for vivid imagery.

My disappointment was with the relationship between Lia (MFC) and Javon, her boyfriend. It didn’t seem like a real relationship by any definition. I needed more information/examples to understand the parameters of their relationship. It comes to light at the end, but I spent too much time in disbelief by the time it was revealed.

It’s a good story, just know it comes together, and all is revealed in the end which was pretty spectacular.

I wanted to like this. I really did. The story idea ticks all my boxes.

Unfortunately, the writing style just didn't work for me. There was too much insta-lust and insta-love, which is something I personally struggle with in books. The cheating trope also isn't one I enjoy reading.

I never really connected with the characters either. Talia came across as a little immature to me. Javon was a jerk, though I suspect that was intentional. Narcaeil, meanwhile, felt a little too sexual for an angel, which made it difficult for me to buy into his character.

I can appreciate that a lot of thought went into this book and the world the author created. It simply wasn't the right fit for my reading tastes.

I'm sure other readers will enjoy it more than I did.

This was an ARC read I received from Antonella.

And my first Angel smut-book ... This is the fun of reading ARC ... you get to read books you don't usually pick out because something about them is like "hmm nah" ... since I am not a religious person I was kinda taking a dive into the deep end ... and what a dive! This kind of angel can always come and visit me ... I read it in 2 days and I really really wanted to continue to see how the story ended for Talia - who was going to be her HEA, if there would even be a HEA ... I had all my questions answered and I cannot wait to read another one of Ms Sinner's books (you gotta love the surname too!)

Life Changing
As Talia is navigating her life, we see her struggles. She's strong willed though. Her "loving" boyfriend Javon is distant and missing when she needs him the most. Actions have consequences. Narcaiel enters the picture and life is going to get alot hotter and different. The was my 1st book by this author and she definitely has a new fan in me after this tale of light versus darkness.

The spice starts in Chapter 1 and honestly, the book never slows down after that. 🔥 But what surprised me most was that there was actually a really good story underneath all the chemistry. The characters pulled me in, the tension was top-tier, and I was hooked from the very beginning.
If you like your paranormal romance spicy, emotional, and impossible to put down, this one is definitely worth the read.

Antonella Sinner does a fantastic job in writing this book, it had that element that I was looking for and was invested in what was happening. The characters worked well in the paranormal romance genre and glad I got to read this. I was invested in the dark romance and am excited to read more.

This book ended much better than it started for me. I enjoyed the storyline, but had to work to get through some of the writing. Some of it seems a little repetitive but it is a good story. I enjoyed it immensely.

This was a good story. Plenty of spice! The storyline was good and I liked the plot. I think there was a bit more religious speak than was necessary to the story and it muddled some of the paragraphs, but that wasn't very often. I was able to read an advanced copy of this book.

An Immortal's Redemption was a good book all in all. A little slow and repetitive at times but overall a good read.
