In the final installment of his immensely popular Million Dollar trilogy, #1 Essence bestselling author RM Johnson delivers a juicy and shocking conclusion that his throngs of fans will never forget.
Picking up where The Million Dollar Deception left off, Freddy Ford knocks on Nate Kenny’s door, storms into the house, and shoots both Nate and his ex-wife Monica. But he doesn’t stop there—Freddy manages to escape with little Nathaniel, Nate and Monica’s adopted son.
Though Nate is expected to survive the brutal attack, Monica is left in a coma. When Lewis Waters—Freddy’s best friend and Layla’s actual father—visits the hospital to see Monica, Nate bargains with if Lewis can get Freddy arrested, Nate will give him back his little girl. Meanwhile, Daphanie Coleman, the woman Nate had planned to marry before he sought revenge on Monica, rushes to Nate’s side. By chance, she meets Lewis while visiting Monica’s bedside, and the two devise a plan to both get what they want.
RM Johnson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, he served five years in the United States Army. After which he received his Bachelors degree in science, from the University of Louisiana. He worked as an x-ray technologist, and radiation therapist for a number of years while continuously working on his writing, and earned a Masters degree in creative writing from Chicago State University
In 1996, RM wrote THE HARRIS MEN, and in 1999 it was published by Simon & Schuster. It was received with critical acclaim and quickly became a best-seller.
Since then, RM Johnson has written nine novels, to include the best-sellers, THE HARRIS FAMILY, DATING GAMES, and THE MILLION DOLLAR DIVORCE. STACIE AND COLE was his first young adult novel, published in December 2007 by Hyperion Books.
His latest novel, THE MILLION DOLLAR DECEPTION is the sequel to THE MILLION DOLLAR DIVORCE.
In June of 2009, RM threw his ring into the non-fiction ring with WHY MEN FEAR MARRIAGE.
Good continuation of the series as Nate's evil ways cause more confusion & heartache. Although I felt sympathy for Monica & Daphanie, it was good for them to see Nate for his true self. Storyline held my attention throughout. Looking forward to reading next segment to see what other evil tactics Nate has up his sleeve. Great read
What?! That ending was not what I thought would happen. There should be more written about Monica's HEA than Nate's revenge on Daphanie. But it was comical how he set her up to be embarrassed for life.
The Million Dollar Demise is book 3 of the Million Dollar Series. It was definitely not the end of the saga with Nate, Monica, and, now, Daphanie. The Million Dollar Demise was a page-turner. Nate and Monica have survived the shooting by Freddy Ford, unbeknownst to Freddy who has now run to Atlanta with little Nathaniel. Since no one was there to officially press charges against Lewis, he was released from jail to find out that Monica is in a coma and Nate is holding Layla hostage until Lewis finds Freddy. Daphanie, Nate's ex-girlfriend, meets Lewis in the hospital and they form a plan to help Daphanie get Nate back and Lewis to get Monica back. There will be a book 4 because Nate Kenny has not learned from his deception and lies. I would recommend this book to finish out the series; however, I am not pressed to read book 4 when it comes out. I have had my fill of the drama with the Kenny's. I think R.M. Johnson can finish the story there.
One of the best books I've read in awhile! After reading the first two and loving them I knew I could expect a fantastic book and Johnson did NOT disappoint! This could be the end of the series or it could go on, Johnson left open the possibility for more. There are few authors that are truly masters and he's one of them. The man was born to write.
This book is too much. I can’t believe Lewis actually helped Nate after all the dirt Nate had done. Forget the fact the he understood because of what Layla’s mom had lead him to believe. That was his own blinded mistake. Daphanie had come through for him. Nate is sooooo evil. His money should be the death of him. He did both women wrong and deserve whatever he has coming in book 4. You would have thought he had learned his lesson, but I guess not. Will it take Freddie to teach him a lesson or will the women finally beat him at these stupid games he insists on playing.
A great read! Nate continues with his need to exact revenge on anyone who crosses him. There are no boundaries with him. Only time will tell if he changes his ways. Monica better stay alert, there is so much to discover about this series! On to the next one! Great job RM Johnson!
OMG.. thw end of this triilogy is just as juicy as the beginning. It leaves you wanting part 4. It's an easy read and a page turner. I wake up at night wanting to read a couple chapters to see what happens next.
I look for evolution. There was very little here. The ending was awful. Why do some writers like to pair dumb women with clever, ruthless men? Nothing wrong with that from time to time but this entire series displayed Monica's simplicity in the worst way.
Wow Nate just don’t take accountability for anything. All of this started because of him. Why can’t he just leave people alone. Louis and Freddie keep allowing Nate to use them as if they don’t understand how manipulative he is.
It was an okay ending to the series. It wasn’t the best book in the series. I think he continued Monica in another series but I’m not interested in any of these people anymore.
the million dollar demise book 3 of the million dollar trilogy was great what I liked most is how even scratched out through three books it was still exciting and had more twist interns I'm going to break this review down to how I feel about each character Nate Kenny I feel he is sick he has a problem I feel bad for him because he do any and everything just for revenge but doesn't realize he's not the victim because he had messed up so many people lives in the end he will never be happy he never thought once to check yourself and make sure he can have kids he always assumed it was the woman and by the end of this book he still no different Lewis I'm happy for him he has been through a lot even though I feel he's lazy he should push harder he's a likeable guy and I feel like he will take good care of his daughter and I feel he do deserve his happy ending I just hope Eva pushes him to do more with his life Monica she has been through a lot but I think she brought a lot of this on herself because she always thought the grass was greener on the other side whenever she was unhappy she wanted to jump to the next man only because she was afraid to be alone she should have never considered taking Nate back when a person shows you who they are believe them so I don't feel bad that she got left the only thing she didn't deserve was being shot but I feel like she has learned her lesson and if she takes her time she will have a very happy life Daphanie it's simple she played the game and she losts alot of me don't feel bad for her because she reminds me a lot of Nate she would have did anything just to be with Him and she did only to be left by herself with no child karma is a bitch Nate day is coming aswell he almost died and still have not learned his lesson revenge is not always worth it he's wasting so much of his life
Yay--finished a trilogy, hmm been a while since I had all three books in my hands to finish without having to rely on my notoriously bad memory among my long reading lists both real and imaginary LOL so like I said with the other two, I was not all for these books though I hope by no fault of the author because I have read some good books by him before (I think LOL) so I gave these three a chance and had to really calm down my sense of reality and try to understand the complexity of evil and scheme in this horrible man Nate, aargh he just doesn't deserve to be happy ever and if it wasn't for that little boy I would hope he ends up alone and miserable always, sigh so in this book the deception, lies don't stop and EVERYONE has a side secret from Nate, his ex girlfriend Daphanie, Lewis, Freddy and surprisingly this time not Monica..As this book also featured the aftermath of a shooting and kidnapping scene there is a lot going on right of the break and they do a good job of recapping the previous madness so you don't feel lost and can jump right in but wait there is a lot going on ahead..Add in paternity tests, baby mamas, divorces, revenge, betrayals and murder and yup that's the rest of the book...Do I recommend these this trilogy, hmm its fast reading and intense but overall a little silly and contrived..I had expectations of a more grown up story but there are some immature scenes in here and they make the book laughable as a real life drama but a more than entertaining filler set of books..Hmm just okay, side note kudos to Monica for finally getting some balls at the end of the book and kicking that monster Nate to the curb for good, jeez that only took three books LOL :)
Jesus Christ Almighty. Will one of these "Urban Fiction" authors just END A BOOK????? I usually want a sequel to a book - but frakking END IT AT SOME POINT, YOU KNOW???
I'm not saying it was a bad story - it wasn't. But for God's sakes, HOW MANY PEOPLE will go to THOSE LENGTHS to get revenge on someone who has wronged them. In the first book it was over the top....now we're on book FOUR - NO END IN SIGHT I MIGHT ADD - and this guy is still not satisfied with his revenge.
I must have OCD or something, or maybe I need some closure because I keep reading these when they come out. I would like, at some frakking point, however, for there to be an END to this story. And honestly, at this point, if they all died together in a nuclear explosion I wouldn't be upset, I just need AN ENDING.
I finished The Million Dollar Demise and I found out that Monica & Nate survived the shootings. Maybe Nate should have died. He is a horrible person and believes in revenge. He did Monica & Daphnie wrong. Daphnie was wrong to lie and scheme against Monica to get Nate and lost dearly in the end. She never dreamed she would need Monica. Nate really needs to get his. Lewis had an eye opener himself but ended up being okay. He goy Layla and Eva. Freddy is crazy and needs to be committed to an institution and not prison. I don't think we've seen the last of him. I really enjoyed this book. Mr. Johnson did not disappoint. I am starting Deceit and Devotion to find out what happens to Nate, Monica, Daphnie and crazy Freddy.
By read, I meant I skimmed and finished it in less than 20 minutes. Is this a joke? The story is unnecessarily convoluted, told in a manner that's worse that Patterson's narrative. The entire book could very easily be one that IS one of my neighbor's life. And I would have heard the story in about ten minutes.
A feels wronged by B thus revenges on B; B revenges on C because C is in the picture; C revenges on A because without A B wouldn't do what B does...then D revenges on somebody. WTH.
This is my first foray into contemporary Afro-American fiction. Clearly I picked a wrong one.
I was a little slow to read this book after reading the first two in the series, simply due to the violence and how the last installment ended. And while this book had it's share of violence in it, I was glad I finally broke down and read it. It quickly became a book I didn't want to put down and couldn't wait to get back to when I had to. The storyline grabbed onto you and didn't let go, and the ending has me wondering if there will be yet another sequel. Overall, I would probably read the book again.
This book is packed with action, drama and deception. This book is The 3rd and seemingly last of the series and it was also my favorite. R.M. Seems to take his time with his writing and takes you on a ride like no other. These books had me neglecting my studies and couldn't put my kindle down. I always wanted to know what Nate,(the man I loved to hate) was up to next.
OMGoodness!!!! This book was a page turner. O the deceit and drama in this book. If you haven't read this series you really should. I wanted to slap Nate & Monica so bad so many times. Lewis poor fellow he just needed a good slap and a good mentor. Freddy was just all out a gangsta and crazy. Poor Joni!! Please Read This Series!!
Couldn't wait to get into this book after reading The Million Dollar Divorce. RM Johnson definitely picked the drama right up where the first book left off. This wasca great book to read full of lies, deceit & plenty of breathtaking drama!!
Talk about a roller coaster ride. This book had me on edge waiting to see what Nate, Monica and Freddy were plotting and scheming to do up until the very end. Revenge is oh so sweet! I really enjoyed it!
EXCELLENT!!! This was such a good read! I usally get bored with sequels but Mr. Johnson did a great job keeping me INTERESTED!!! All I can say READ IT!!!!
