From the back: what this book is about….Old, New, Red, Blue ! Old Cars. New Cars. Red Cars. Blue Cars. Cars, cars, cars!
Mine: My youngest nephew is sorting through his early books. He’s going to donate them to the local used book store, but in the mean time we are going to try to read them before they go. I love reading with my nephews
What a cute story about all the different cars. He’s a big Cars (the movie) fan.
A good book to see and name the differences between things! Old, new. Shiny, dull. Blue, red. Truck, car. Dirty, clean. And more. You shouldn't expect rhyming or a story from it.
The little boy I nanny loves it because of Lightning McQueen and all the cars. He says it's his favorite book, but he says that about almost any book he asks me to read. (Especially when trying to convince his sister it should be read first. ☺️) He definitely enjoys it, though!
The book Old,New,Red,Blue is a beginning book for Preschool-Kindergarten. It talks about color and to describe things. It definitely helps the beginning reader understand the words and what they are describing. The impact of the book was that the words to describe the picture match and that the reader will understand what they are reading. It gets the reader ready to start reading and what it looks like to read. The impression of the book was obvious to the reader even though it’s a beginning reading book. The book really wasn’t a story and I wish it did have a reason. It was more just describing the pictures in the book. It could of also end better than it did. The pictures did connect with the words on the page and did look nice. The literary elements were that it was made for the right age group. That it did have the right spelling, grammar and punctuation. The design elements were also made for the right age group. It had big text so that the reader can see the words. There were along a few words on the pages. The pictures were the right size so that the reader can could connect what the pages were saying.
I'm not usually a fan of books with only a few words per page; for one, if I'm reading "that kind" of book to my kid, I end up feeling guilty for taking the lazy route. And two, if you're giving "that kind" of book to your kid to read, you're not giving them enough credit. That said, I found this particular level 1 book to be a little different from that. The pictures were fantastic given the lack of content, and it flowed just well enough to make a great go-to anytime book. It's engaging for any fan of cars (Pixar or otherwise)
This book is a good book. I would use it to talk about opposites. Even though Cars may go out of style, some children will always love cars so this may appeal to them. It is nice and simple but still gets the point across.

A cute children's book using the characters and scenery from Cars to illustrate opposites. Red vs. blue, old vs. new, etc. While my daughter enjoys the book, I could see my nephew, who loves cars, really getting into it. Either way, it's a good, simple book that is easy for young children to follow along with. Typically what is expected of a level 1 (preschool-kindergarten) learning to read book.

Literary masterpieces these books aren't, but they are great and Natalie loves them. This is the third one we've read about Cars. Very luck to find this and some other Cars books in the free box at play group! I particularly like the structure and how it showcases the opposites. All the illustrations are from the first movie. Natalie laughs at the dirty car every time.
Quite similar to "Red fish, Blue fish, Old fish, New fish" by Dr. Seuss -- or at least the beginning. It's a simple sing-song narrative that uses pictures from the Cars movie. Our girls really like this one.
Cute little early reader based around the Cars universe. Simple language with short sentences mean that younger readers can access it. Would be better if there was a clear story rather than just a series of vignettes.
I read this book to Cameron and when I finished he said,"I want to read it to you." " Okay, go ahead and try", I said, doubtful. He got almost every word right! He had been read that book a lot so he started to memorize it.
It's weird that it said, "Rusty truck" and it's weird that it said "new car" because it only said stuff about the cars. I wanted to read more about the cars.
This was an easy read for my son, who is learning to read. There are a few words that are harder to sound out, but it works nicely as a beginning reader book, especially for kids that love the "Cars" movies.
The characters from the movie "Cars" help a very beginning reader to learn to read. In this book between the very simple two to three words per page text along with the illustrations are great for an early beginning reader.
