The Price of Passion

Nine years ago, Christiane Lawrence surrendered her innocence to the mysterious young Daniel Moreau. Even after he left her without warning, the memory of his lovemaking haunted her. And as the child he left in her womb grew, she wondered who he'd really been - and why she felt an uneasy presence always by her side....

Daniel had been working for the devil - a madman with an evil obsession for Christiane. He'd left Christi to keep her safe, but he had only intensified the devil's desire. Now Daniel's redemption was at hand. But he'd have to convince Christi he loved her before midnight of Mardi Gras, for there was only a week to go before the devil exacted his bloody price.

I'm not much of a romance reader, but this promised to be something a bit different. The blurb hinted at devils and demons, at nefarious goings on and evil men ... sadly these didn't really materialise. Yes, one of the characters does have some evil intentions, but the supernatural element is really missing. Fire and brimstone if you please!

In fact, it ended up quite a tame romance too. Yes, in this type of book you know that the hero and heroine are going to end up together, no matter what dire straits they get into but I can't say that I felt any real chemistry between the two of them. One seems to have a bad stomach ulcer and the other can't articulate his feelings, and apart from the author constantly saying how much they are in love, it never really materialised on the page.

Overall, an ok read, slightly entertaining, but don't expect originality, anything even vaguely supernatural, or characters that really leap off the page!

Let me just say wow! I loved the plot it was dark and deadly, However I hated a couple of things I can't say or I'd give away some of the plot, if you read it you will understand. It left me feeling like if this book was released in a longer noval it would totally get five stars from me. I did wish it had been longer and more detailed, but as is it was too quick. I would reconmend it.
